NTR book. Let's go.
Note this is a review of the first volume of the light novel since that's what's listed on MAL, and I read it in Japanese. I will update this review when the second volume comes out on June 1st (https://sneakerbunko.jp/series/ntr/). The web novel has barely been updated in the past year so that might be the end of the series, I don't know.
This LN really doesn't have anything to do with the NTR porn genre, it has no explicit scenes and basically no fanservice or ecchi. It's just a normal rom-com revenge story so don't get your hopes up. They're pretty much
...
just trying to increase exposure by using a provocative title.
The main character, Isshiki, gets cheated on by his girlfriend, Karen (lol funni name), with his senpai, Kamokura, and him and the senpai's girlfriend, Touko, plot to get revenge on the two cheaters.
Pros:
- Characters are interesting and likable. They each fulfill their roles in the story well. I didn't feel their were any wasted characters. Pretty much all named characters are important to the story. The protagonist actually has a male friend he can confide in (pet peeve with a lot of otaku contents). The main heroine is good and while seems overly perfect at first, gets development and shows flaws throughout the novel.
- Takes place in college instead of high school (insane).
- No shitty harem or any of that cringe. No ecchi. Just a normal story. If you want porn go watch porn.
- There's no otaku stuff. The main character isn't an incel or a virgin. It is so much to ask that an LN or manga not have some pathetic demasculated loser as the protagonist???
- The villains (cheaters) are pretty hatable and I really wanted to see them taken down. They aren't cheating for no reason, the reader learns and understands their motivations and what kind of people they are without empathizing to much. Even though I understood why they were doing what they were, I still couldn't wait to see them destroyed.
- The revenge is really satisfying. The build up is totally worth it.
- I was fully engaged and wanted to keep reading. I was invested in the characters and the main duo. Chapters are kept at a good length so you often feel like you want to read more.
Cons:
- The art. It's just not that great.
- The MC is just okay. He's not an otaku, but he's not a particularly outstanding or amazing character etiher. He's overly ignorant about a lot of things, and his conversations with Touko sometimes feel like he's needs be explained literally everything.
- THE ENDING. This is the main reason I didn't give it a higher score. I really enjoyed 95% of this, to the point I would have given it a 8 or 9. But the ending was such a troll gotcha moment I don't even know what to say. The change in tone was very sudden, and a "comedic" reveal cheapens a lot of the events that led up to that point in my opinion. It's okay that the author didn't want the main duo to bang... but he could have gone about in a much better way with some stronger romantic progression.
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot until the less than stellar ending, which lowers it a point or 2. It's still worth reading and I'm interested to see where volume 2 goes, and if it redeems the ending.

Out of all the popular "hype" shows airing this season, honestly this one is my favorite. I love this show and I think its a shame more people aren't paying attention to it. I really have only positive things to say.
This anime does what any good sequel should do: take the best aspects of previous seasons and the manga and builds on them to create an all around better experience.
Did you like the final episodes of season 2 where Takagi and Nishikata's relationship started to progress? Then you will love this season. While I am also a fan of the manga's "episodic" style and
...
subsequently those parts in the adaptations, this season takes that format and mixes some of the best skits from the manga in with great romantic progression to create a fantastic anime. If you are invested in the main couple and their charming dynamic, I can see no reason why you won't love this season.
Every episode is a joy to watch. Each one is spectacularly paced, fully re-investing the viewer every week. They include a somehow almost perfect mix of relaxing skits, charming scenes, and stellar romantic progression. Every episode leaves me wanting more, but at the same time satisfied with what I got.
Verdict: 9/10.
My only criticism at this point is that scenes with side characters can drag a bit, but its a pretty minor issue in my opinion. The selling point is the main couple.
If you have at all enjoyed previous seasons of Takagi-san, this is a must watch!

(spoilers)
Shometsu Toshi is a real masterpiece. Never before have I been so amazed by a work of fiction. It is pure perfection. The characters, the setting, the plot, the small nuances, foreshadowing, sound effects, music, cinematography... the list goes on and on and on. I seriously don't know where to start with this anime.
To be honest, I watched it as a joke because I got the character in my gacha game. But never did I think that it would be the best anime of all time. First, where do I start? I don't know where to start. Please. Theres too much to this anime
...
that is perfection. I think the surge particles (haha, Shoumetsu Toshi reference!) got to me and caused me to forget about where to start.
First, I will start with the characters. They are amazing. Most of them are introduced in the episode where they die, which adds to the despair and suspense that the show instills in the viewer. This show is not for the faint of heart. There is real hurt. Real pain. Real trauma. Real despair. Real life. This show is so meaningful. The characters are great. Theres the protagonist, Yuki, who has experienced so much suffering. Theres Takuya, the courier, who didn't fulfill his tragic past. And all the other ones I don't remember the names of, like the magician guy who Twitter cancelled the evil Lacuna. All these characters have an amazing story to tell and tell it in a way that causes the viewer to truly understand their pain and hurt and suffering. Which only makes the triumphant ending even better.
The show is amazing the plot is amazing. The plot is that there is a giant hole that they must go to the bottom of because a message from Yuki's supposedly dead parent emerged from the area. The hole was formed by The Lost (which is a very cool and cool sounding name) which caused a whole city to disappear. They finally make it to the actual hole in the last episode which was the coolest episode. The ending was amazing. You see,
along Yuki's journey, many people die or lose their siblings or something (she lost her younger brother) and this woman wiht green hair dies and this woman with brown hair dies and this guy with purple hair almost dies but didn't until the last episode, and she is given the choice to give them all a perfect world, reset the universe, where they can all be happy with no repercussions. She is the only one who can make this choice, the choice given to her by her supposedly dead father who is a Data Man now. Of course, she chooses to not reset the world, because she would be sad if everyone didn't go through all of those experiences. The Lost is still growing ever larger and in a few decades, will swallow the whole world unless Yuki chooses to reset the universe (which she did not do). This is an extremely meaningful ending that means a lot because it shows how the right choice isn't always the good choice. I think we can all learn from Shoumetsu Toshi in this way.
One last thing... this anime has EXTREMELY ACCURATE SCIENCES. They talk about parallel universes which is a real scientific concept. I don't see your Steins Gate talking about parallel universes now, do I? They even mention SURGE PARTICLES which are really scientific and make you lose your memories unless you are from another universe. I'm disappointed they didn't mention Alpha, Gamma, or Delta particles, but I'm sure its simply because they realised the simple minded viewers wouldn't understand such incredibly conplex scientific concepts which, if you ask me, was quite kind to the viewers to make this decision because without it we would not be able to understand the magnificent story of Shoumetsu Toshi.
I give this anime a 10/10 and the joe fortnite award.
I cried. Every episode. At every single cut-away gunshot I cried. i thought they would die... but they didn't. The pure resilience despite the despair showed the light of hope at me and taught me many valuable lessons.
Please. Watch this anime.
