It has writing problems, but the entertainment you get from watching overrules it by A MILE.

SK8 is another example of original anime done right. With great characters, amazing designs, good animation and a plot line no other anime would be ashamed for, it makes for a great show that captured my heart.
Opening and Ending songs for SK8 are incredibly good, the main villain is AWFUL but we got some of clichés as well...

Overall, SK8 is an anime that everyone should give a try.
The only thing saving you all from a Cherry or Langa screenshot spam is that this was a simul watch with chickem and ... I was way too focused on her commentary to take any. ...You all got lucky this time around!

👌Bromance or Romance
You had to anticipate this - the boys are hot and they have hots for each other. It is a law by now, you cannot have it in any different way.

So, SK8 world introduces 8 main characters:

Reki and Langa - a fire and an ice, essentially.
Cherry and Joe - frenemies.
Adam - their ex-friend and absolute cuckoo.
Tadashi - Adam's lapdog who NEEDS TO THINK FOR HIMSELF.
Shadow and Miya - a comedic relief and a child prodigy.

These 8 are everywhere, all the time and we get a proper look into their lives and their backgrounds as well. That on itself is a really great way of building characters, because even though I don't care for some of the main cast, I think they are written in a good way.

To the important part. The first four named boys are carrying the show for me.

Reki is, sorry chickem, the least MC main character than I saw in a while, but even that works. Because that was the whole point. Give us a main character that will struggle with doing what he loves and needs to rediscover himself and how he wants to continue.
On on hand, I absolutely understand his struggle because I always felt like I was not as good as certain things at my best friends.
On the other hand... they dragged Reki's troubles a bit too much. The realization should have come way way sooner. (And it could be a bit more mature than 'No I won't quit skating because I am having fun!')

Reki was relatable, and that is all that matters in a main character.

Langa was build like a fan-favorite. Silly boy who doesn't talk much and makes the weirdest faces, while being an absolute monster at a hobby he did for a few months.
He quickly became Reki's boy good friend and the original author made sure we see them grow together and understand the depth of their relationship.
We are taught to adore Langa, and then suddenly BAM.

A twist comes - and suddenly we feel jealous of Langa, we think it is impossible for one person to be THIS good at... basically EVERYTHING.
Yet, we cannot stop cheering for him, because we love him.

Cherry and Joe are another great duo. I absolutely fell for Cherry - a tech guru, whose skateboard needs charging because of his AI assistant Carla. And Joe is your typical skirt-chaser. He has two girls on every hand, and always talks about what kind of moves he does on them.
The two of them are childhood friends, connected to the villain Adam. Their relationship can be described as love-hate, or frenemies. (We all know that means they are gay.)
Both have a beef with him they want to pick, and going down on the memory lane with them... I won't lie, it did not make me understand them or their obsession with finding out what happened to their "friend".

People change and when your friend becomes a monster, just drop it. Or figure a different way to resolve the issue than compete with him in skating.

I will talk about Adam on the bottom of this post.

But my main point is: the characters are great. Interesting, fun and their relationships are real treasure. I like their character design, their (kind of) unique personalities and the interactions between them are pure gold.

👌 First half vs. second half
This show can be divided into two halves. That is episode 1 - episode 5, and then episode 7 - episode 12. (If you are wondering about episode 6, it will have it's own paragraph.)
Which means we get two main plotlines and two main conflict, that do carry through the whole season.

This divination might not be done on purpose, but the difference in the show's pacing and mood is big enough for me to call it out.

1-5
These episodes are practically an introduction to the characters and the world of SK8. chickem and I watched these episodes in one go, and it was good enough to make me slightly obsessed.
And I am talking about Hetalia/Haikyuu kind of obsession. The one where you feel like you will die without getting more of these characters, when you fall in love with the series and when you know your next weeks will be spent looking at fanarts and fanfictions.

We learned about the "S" and the "beefs", we found of how comedy works and what to expect in the future.
The show established not only the main points and relationship between all of the characters, but it gave us the first conflict.

That would be Adam. A main villain of the show, who appeared during "S" and skated against Langa, getting obseseed with him.
Adam... huh. Adam turns out to be 3D. A very dangerous, disgusting and degenerate man.

"S" turned out to be a pretty interesting concept. Two skaters going against each other, showing us various tricks or impossible poses and moves that left my jaw open. As someone who bought a skateboard and can barely stand on it... I cannot ever imagine doing half the stuff they did in the anime.

Important detail: this is where Langa and Reki make a promise, that Langa will never face Adam again.

7-12
The last part of the anime revolves around a Tournament that Adam calls. All of our main cast signs up, including Langa. That is the source of a main conflict.

The boys go through a massive break-up, and stop talking completely. Reki goes through a whole existential crisis, comparing himself to Langa and feeling like he was awful at everything. People around called him "the red haired dude that is around Snow" and it was really ruining his mental state.

He went on a whole journey, while poor Langa had absolutely no idea what was happening.
Main point is, that they managed to patch it up, and became friends again. <3

During this same time, Adam and Cherry had a beef, during which Adam... well, almost shattered Cherry's skull. It was ugly.
But we got a cute Cherry Joe moment, and a look into all of their pasts.

We found out that Adam is a traumatized child, that was not loved properly. We see that he used to consider Cherry and Joe as very special people, showing them their real identity. We learn who taught Adam to skate... but we do not find out what actually happened to Adam.
The guess is that he was just messed up by his family and it all went to hell from that.

Overall, this all works. SK8 had great pacing, they focused on every little conflict or character just the right amount of time and some of the episodes felt like they were 2 minutes long. (The only exception is Reki's self-pity. That one was just a tiiny bit over dragged.)

👌 Episode 6
Episode 6 gets its own special little paragraph, because it was a freaking fever dream. (Said with love.) It is essentially a beach episode.

"Cute girls have a beach episode, cute boys get onsen episode. That's equal amount of skin shown, imo."

Out of nowhere, we see the gang on a ferry, all together, in the same resort. I... I don't know what it is about this episode, but I did not understand it AT ALL. I don't know what the point was, I don't know what happened, I do not understand the point of conflict.... but I L I V E D.

Absolute perfections, from the first moment to the last. Comedic relief of episode, after we almost got a heart-attack and before it would rip our hearts out and eat it in front of our faces...
SK8 knows how to play with my feeling a bit too well.

👌 Cindereki special
chickem was so nice, she introduced me to this thing: Youtube. It is a fan-animated version of an official Drama CD "Cidereki", which is the retelling of Cinderella in the world of SK8.

I must say, I had fun. Sooo much fun - some of the lines were absolutely ridiculous and I stared at the screen in disbelief.

In the beginning, we get a Langa-Reki dance to Japanese version of Dear Maria. And then the story progresses nicely, giving us all kinds of stupid twists and turns.
As an experience, it really is just one of a kind and I am really really happy I could watch this.

The surprise at the end, when Langa texted Reki made me kinda happy...

👌 Season 2?
For now, the only kind of content we have is this series, manga - that is adapted from the anime and is on hiatus, a spin-off manga and Cindereki - that is a Drama CD.

And like I said, as a stand-alone series it works incredibly well. All the main drama is resolved, the boys have a free hand at exploring their feelings the future and... well, that thing with Adam happened too.

But!
As of now, we got announcements for Season 2 and OVA special. Even though there are little info about it, at least we get the promise that something will come.
And if it ends up like with Yuri on Ice Movie... well, at least we have the manga, so maybe that will continue!

👎 The problem that is Adam
Well, I finally got around to this.

As mentioned, Adam is 3D - dangerous, disgusting, degenerate. We don't really know who Adam is for a while, apart from seeing this politician in a small dark room, sitting on a throne, watching millions of cameras that are showing him the other skaters.
He explains later, that he is a "Matador of love", searching for his "Eve". Someone, who is interesting, who skates like him. With total focus, not caring for the rest of the world. Someone who doesn't skate for "fun", but because it's who he is.

Adam finds that in Langa. And so he challenges him. I talked about that already, so I won't go into more details. The main point is, that Adam gets weirdly obsessed, sexually obsessed. He makes awful comments, he acts like a huge dick and quite honestly, it is exactly like chickem said: "He is cringe." and "EW." and all of that.

Joe, Cherry and Tadashi all want to skate against Adam, to beat him and idk... rub his face in the dirt until he wakes up from being a dick, I guess.
Then when Cherry and Adam skate against each other, Adam goes and smashes his board against Cherry's head, sending him to the hospital.

Adam is... quite honestly a perfect villain. Someone who is just a bad person, and you hate him.
But then SK8 did something I cannot forgive, and why I consider Adam a miss.
They gave Adam a sad backstory.

We find out that Adam only has aunts that beat him, saying that is their way of showing Adam love. So he is successful, good, proper... whatever.
That is why Adam is a matador of love - when he talks about love, he looks at his hands, remembering how he was assaulted by his own family.

Then Cherry and Joe go on this whole 'remembering past journey' and we see the three of them (plus some other people) having fun, being in love with skating, just... living their lives to the fullest.
We see a different side of Adam that is supposed to make us love him, make us understand him and feel for him.

We get a look at Tadashi's point of view. Tadashi used to be Adam's servant/slash/friend, and he was the one who taught Adam to skate. He is the one who "created the monster". Tadashi does the same - giving us sad backstories from when they were kid, trying to make us go "aww, he was just a sad little bean". But no. I won't give them that.
And here is why:

👎 My little Reki: sk8ing is magic
First of all, many many of the stuff we see is predictable. I knew exactly what will happen and why it will happen.
Who will win in the competitions.
What will the point of conflict be.
How it will be resolved.

Then, another thing.
During the tournament, Langa and Reki are not friends. Or rather, not talking. Reki gives away his secret badge, saying he does not want to come to "S" anymore. Langa spends his whole free time searching for his boyfriend.

While he is skating, Langa grabs his check and we get a monologue about how he "isn't feeling the usual excitement". Which of course changed once Langa hears Reki cheering for him. Suddenly, the feeling is back and Langa wins.

"they are gay, your honor"

Snow is a finalist of the tournament, but is is not decided who will be his opponent. But Adam knows what to do.
Use the fragile friendship between Langa and Reki and challenge Reki to skate against him.
Reki does well, incredibly well, and he makes Adam fall in the mud. Obviously, it looks like Reki is winning until the last moment... but then his board breaks down. And Adam wins.

Conclusion is - Langa and Adam are finalists of the tournament. And this, friends, is where you should grab a bucket to throw up.

During this skating, Adam and Langa get into the zone. They do not see or understand what is happening around them, because they are somewhere beyond. Langa suddenly slips and is falling, which might result into his death.
What wakes him up from this trance? Reki calling out his name.

Now Langa and Adam are fighting, it's breath-taking, cool, nerve-wracking... until the moment when Adam and Langa fall from their boards. Langa stood up, and he can win the whole tournament... but he decided to hand Adam his board, remind him that "skating is fun" and ask him they "finish the race together".

Adam takes his board, and starts remembering his past, and how skating used to be fun. When they reach the goal, Adam tells something to Tadashi, which can be roughly translated as "i wanna skate with u again <3".

So basically, they ruined a perfectly good villain by reforming him in the stupidest way possible. THAT MADE ME SO ANGRY.
In other words, the show suffers most from it's own predicament, that is the power of sk8, means that "having fun is the most important thing in the world".
Bleh.

Adam was a good villain. And the tournament was cool - in animation, in suspense, with great music and emotional moments. My frustration with bad choices is nothing compared to all the fun I had.
Ignoring the last two points, SK8 is very close to being a masterpiece.
Conclusion: recommended 👍

This is essentially just a Spy x Family fanfiction.
I looooooove Spy x Family series. Right now, it's one of my MOST beloved anime series. I love the found family x adventure x comedy mix. I love the characters and their chemistry.
Seriously. I have not seen a slow burn this good in years!

It fills me with hope, makes me squeal and absolutely sells me on the "what can be" theories. Even if Loid and Yor don't end up together, and the Forgers will not work out in the end... I don't care!
I have enough content to create that ending for myself.

1st series did not leave ... much impression yet. I remember binging it in one day, awfully sad in college, not wanting to go to Psychology class. Oh bleh, those times.
Cour 2 of 1st season was AMAZING. And 2nd season blew me away so much, I finished the rest of the manga in 2 days.

When I noticed season 3 being announced, I almost jumped out of my pants. And that's when I discovered I was missing this gem. I had to wait for a weeks, since it was not available yet... but I finally got around to watch it and AWWWWWWW. I loved it.

Warning: this movie is not cannot and I will be spoiling all of it.

👌 Love is in the air

Let's face it. A lot of Spy x Family fans are suckers for Loid x Yor romance. All the signs, all the details, all the side eyes and secret thoughts.
And this movie gave us a plenty of romance.

I admit, I am reading too much into lifeless eyes... but I just see it, alright?!

I know we are not officially there yet. But ask LITERALLY ANYONE and they will tell you, these two are down BAD.

👌 Leaning into all our favorite tropes

This movie was a total fanfiction. I write fanfictions, so I would know. Taking all the cannon things and incorporating it to a story, without being all that necessary. Playing all the favorite tropes, and using all the knowledge we have to make the story... sort of... more intense.

To paint a better picture: already mentioned love between Yor and Loid, Anya's catchphrases, her relationship with Second Son, her plushies/love for spies. Fiona being absolutely enamored with Loid. Yuri being weirdly obsessed with Yor + a look into their backstory. And even a slight look into Loid's backstory!

It takes what fans love, and gives it to us again. And it works.

👌 The classical cliché retold in a favorite alternative universe is not so bad

CODE: White does not have... exactly a unique plot. Anya eats a chocolate which hides a microfilm. Bad guys find out so they try to capture her and wait for her to pass it. During all of that, the good guys try to get that microfilm as well.

The convenient coincidences happen on every step.
Anya conveniently finds the key to the chocolate. Bond can conveniently see the Cherry Liquor they are looking for. The Liquor is conveniently non-alcoholic so Anya can buy it. And more.

But... even if it's not original or anyhow better from the usual retellings, it works and it totally hooked me on.

👌 Action, action and more action!

Honestly. What do you want from me? Spy x Family is known for this. A spy and a assassin. Telepath kid and future-telling dog. Of course there is a lot of action!
And not bad action at all!

We get trains, we get planes, we get mountains, we get super robot, overpowered enemies, flames and fire everywhere...!!!
And the strongest weapon of them all - the power of love. 😂

👌 Garden of Eden? More like Garden of Loo

You might have already caught on - this story is all about poo. From one point, somewhere just after the half of the movie, the story focuses on Anya having to pass the microfilm.
They might have spent at least 10 minutes on showing us how Anya was trying not to poop herself and they had a whole sequence about a Poop God.

I am awfully embarrassed to say that this is my sort of humor and I almost peed my pants. As a 22 year old adult woman that's hopefully about to finish college soon... I was laughing like a little kid at toilet humor...

👌 Attention to detail or planning ahead?

Yor's lipstick. Sneijider's gourmet's nose... Those are two that really stuck with me. I mean, you see it, you think "haha what a cute/funny scene" and then it bits you in the ass and you're left gasping because damn, of course! how did I not think of this???

I love when shows pull a trick like this. Round of applause just for the lipstick...

In the last lovely scene, all three of them are wearing green coat - but each in different shade. That can mean a lot of things.
The way they are a part of one family, but not one family exactly just yet.
It can symbolize who is hiding what, or how intense their feelings are. It can mean anything.

I am here for all the theories.

All in all, SPY×FAMILY is perfection on every front and if you haven't seen or read it yet, you are making a mistake.

Conclusion: it's a must watch 💖 10/10

Kill me. Kill me now. This is suffering.

Story:
The worst thing about this show is, that is has a story. There used to be a MO Continent, that sunk/disappeared a long time ago. Not many people know about it, and those who know are only scraping for information. The only real proof are MOParts, pieces of metal from MO Continent. Two teams are after them - White Pegasus and a scientist Gorou who has the most annoying catchphrase I have ever heard.
While Gorou goes for help to a group of men/boys publishing science magazine, White Pegasus is a suspicious company, whose director is shady as heck. ... They fight to get the MOParts and raise the MO Continent... but aren't ready for the twist that will come.

Now I dare you to tell me this isn't interesting! How could this show fuck up so badly...

Animation:
Animation is too good, I'd say. Those talented people really did say "let's animate furries" and put out some great moments.

Art:
I enjoyed the look of MO Continent, I enjoyed the environment, I enjoyed the character design too! I didn't enjoy the transformation aspect and what came with it. That is my preference though, so I will admit, while I think the faces/characters/Motarians didn't look too good to me, they weren't bad at all!

Characters:
Now. This will contain some heavy spoilers. Please stay safe if you haven't seen it / are interested in watching.

From the first episode, I was wondering what was that thing on Tarou's forehead and if it was connected to the auras he could see. I did not find out until now. And when I realized it was a sign that he was a Motarian that everyone had... I was rolling my eyes so hard. Was that supposed to be a big reveal? And if so, why did that stupid SCIENTIST try to transform, when he knew he didn't have that birth mark. My man, after 20 years, I think you'd notice something like that. It's big enough for everyone to see! But to be honest, I liked Tarou the most. His want to marry a girl to not work was hilarious and I wish him luck, but his transformation was godawful. (Better than Prince's...)

Catherine was the biggest surprise to me. At first in a good way. When they showed us her backstory, I was honestly confused who the hell the girl is and if she is the reason Ed is doing what he's doing. She was! And at the end of the episode, when she put her hair out, I gasped. That was so good. I did not expect it!
Ed was another character I enjoyed. While the dumb-twins got on my nerves and made me cringe when they "merged", I found Ed very endearing. He is hot, he is nice, he is a little bit of a simp for Catherine and I want him so badly. Up until the last minute I believed he was the bad guy!

Music:
Everyone loves when the cast goes full out and does the music themselves. In this case it was more ridiculous than anything, but do give the opening and ending a listen, they are awesome.
Opening - I never ever want to hear this stuff. The music haunts me, the rap is making my ears bleed and the way they pushed "OVERSCIENTIFIC" in the opening too is baffling. "noooooo"/10.
Ending - I kind of love this ending?? It's funny, it sounds good and it almost doesn't fit the quality of the anime. "Good job!"/10
Insert song - wait, what? Oh right! The one from the very end. Right! Well this one is good!

Entertainment value:
This was such a huge miss. If things were different, I can see myself enjoying this, but now I don't think I'll be able to ever think of anything good at the mention of this anime.

Conclusion: not recommended 👎 run run for your life
No, just no. Save yourself the time. It's not worth it. 1/10....yeah, my rating is shit. The real would be 4/10. I can't go any higher!

Great romance, lovable characters and beautiful art. Yubisaki to Renren has it all. And not only that, but it also opens eyes (of all that are watching) to the world of deaf in a softest and easiest way possible. It makes you really think about certain aspects, it makes you think about how our society is set (that being not inclusive) and I doubt anyone was bored.
The only complain I have is about Itsuomi... I disliked the main boy character, but that is not the end of the world.

Every character has their little backstory and every character is lovable in their own way.
While I am ... sure this show won't have a second season and you're all better off reading the manga, please do it give it a shot, because it's a wonderful experience.

I am so sad that this was so bad, it makes me really upset.
Meiji Gekken had everything - historical period drama, love story, political conspiracy...

The art was decent, the animation could be really great... But there was another, bigger problem. If you saw Bucchigiri, read my review or got into contact with it in any way, you know the anime sometimes overdid it with content presented per one episode. Well, Meiji Gekken took it even further.

With episode length moving around 30 minutes, no proper opening or ending... each episode did a lot more than it was supposed to. Feeding us confusing mix of three main ... plotlines - Shizuma looking for Sumie; Sumie's revenge; Shuragami's conspiration - and many more smaller plots... - the anime got lost in itself.

Watching it felt like you missed a previous season. Not knowing who the characters were, what was their purpose or what period we're in and what the setting is...

It was predictable in the worst way possible - that means, you weren't held in suspense because you were either trying to understand what was going on or you knew what would happen word after word. The ending that was supposed to be the most heartbreaking scene you ever saw felt like a relived exhale of authors & animators that it's finally over...

I wish I could recommend this, I wish I could say something nice about this... but it's just not deserved.

Metallic Rouge might have been a great show, but it didn't work out at all. With amazing visuals, mid character design and bad storyline it makes up for the biggest disappointment and total confusion of the season.

Science fiction is a great way to go all out on your ideas... but if your ideas are all over the place, you really won't say anything and just disappoint your fans.

Someone grab this universe, write a good fanfiction and give this amazing idea a story that is deserving. Metallic Rouge could have been something, but remains nothing.

Story:
It might sound ridiculous but I did have high expectations of the story. And surprisingly, it wouldn't be completely wrong to say there were more or less three plot lines:
All girls are twisted, Good and Evil
Have those girls ruin magical girls
Have the main trio fight the quarter of bad girls.
Each of them was funnier than the other. Gushing is a show you can't take seriously. And once you don't, you will realize just how funny this show is. (If you are taking it seriously, you will just end up with boner.)
While I don't think we can talk about "arcs" per se, the three main plots ... explored in the 12 episodes are done lightly, and in a way that keeps you entertained. In other words - you won't be bored, because there is always something happening.

Animation:
No complaints. The show was running smoothly, the boob animation was funny and I loved the way they did explosions or flowers popping up on the screen. It's traditional, nothing that screams bad quality.

Art:
Didn't love it, but liked it enough! While at moments it looked weird, they kept the quality at medium. And that is always a great thing - if you slip up, it's not so obvious and you can still go all out on important times! Working on half-hentai might be hard (we're talking attention to detail), but everything ecchi looked fine - flushed faces, sweat, boobs... Good quality.

Characters:
I obviously have to talk about Utena first. Utena is the main character, the "bad" girl. While some might argue that she didn't have much of a character development and more of a coming-out-of-her-shelf, I think she changed the most. From the "this is too much I don't want to do this" to head of Enormita - that isn't just her perverted self that achieved that!
She was great. I loved her the most from the whole show and I thought she was incredible. Of course she slipped every now and then, but it added to her character. I especially loved the little detail of her stars increasing the more f*cked up she got.
And don't even get me started on the way she beat lord Enorme. It was so clever!

I didn't care too much for the other characters. I found Kiwi funny, Korisu adorable. Nemo and Matama had a great relationship (tho a bit unhealthy). As for their powers, I think all of them were interesting and nicely picked for the story.

From the magical girls, I liked Sayo the most. Of course, the anime focused on her the most too, which let us enjoy her a bunch. The point where she almost broke and Utena became disgusted by her was especially important to me and her new form is really beautiful. I am going to catch up with manga some other time and I am very curious to see just how much she changed. As for Haruka, I hated her the most. Even more than Kaoruko (who had the best chemistry with our Kiwi).
I live for the characters and I live for their relationships/friendships.

Music:
Opening - had nice vocals, but the song didn't slap too hard. It gets an "ok" from me.
Ending - ending is the best music this show produced. It was soft, it felt like Sunday afternoon and the vocals were great. 10/10, thank you.
Insert song - Loco Musica's L.O.V.E.Ly Loco♡ was the worst thing I ever heard, but it was so hilarious, I even posted it on my blog. I was so crazy when I was listening to it... Hilarious. It gets "what the fuck ♡" from me.

Entertainment value:
We get three levels of censorships - all different in audio quality, if I am not mistaken. Pick yours!
I watched the one with censored moans and bottom body parts. Still, I got to see much more than I asked for. While I understand the anime was about the nudity/sexual stuff, I didn't care for it, and didn't need it. It wasn't bad though - it made me laugh more times than it made me cringe or regret watching it.

Overall, I don't think I was bored once.
On the worse side, a lot of time they dragged into the fights children. I do not like and can't forget or forgive that they had the magical girl naked and the kids were watching her. This wasn't something that needed to be done. They chose to do that. WTH. Bye.

Conclusion: it's a must watch 💖

Gushing over magical girls is a strangely wonderful story about weird friendship that will keep you confused-horny while you grin like an idiot because the humor is just that good. It looks great, it has two or three dark twists and promises for what will happen later in the story, it has a lot of cute girls that give us plenty of fanservice.
It's not what you expect, but oh boy, will you be happy you watched it!
If you have any doubts, don't have them. Even I, as someone who doesn't like hentai, who doesn't like Mahou Shoujo enjoyed it to the fullest. It just is that good. 10/10

👌 Iyashikei

Do you know that sweet feeling of being happy and having no troubles? Enjoying your life with many of your friends and not caring for anything?
In Slovakia, we call it "Život gombička." which roughly translates to "easy life". (VERY roughly.)
Well, these few girls will make you feel that way! In 12 beautifully colored episodes, great voice actors help you relax in school, in cosplay, while eating sweets and during their endless playing around.
Everything just looks so good... so peaceful. It's really a great show.
Kouko was ruining it a bit by being a weird-ass stalker, but in a way, I was just happy that ... Miyako got a taste of her own medicine. (That woman named her pet after Miyako.)

👌 Cute girls doing cute things

We all love it. Cute girls doing everything cutely. Those little kids are so independent, acting all big... but they love playing games like only walk on shadows, or dressing up in Miyako's old school uniforms, they play in the pool, they make costumes... What more do you want from a show with no plot?
Despite all my comments and bad feelings, I still think this one is worth watching.

👇 Pedo vibes

I loved it. I loved it more than I can explain without sounding like a pedo. But one thing did not sit right with me and I have to take major points down because of it.
Miyako was acting so weird sometimes. Her obsession with an 11-year old that is not her family was creepy, when they were hiding in the closet and she was breathing heavily, I wanted to throw up and overall she made me very uncomfortable.
I have two younger siblings but I am not friends with any of their friends. Because they're not my age group. I have nothing to talk to them about.
Sure, I baby my cousins - but they are my cousins and they just want someone to play with.
In other words, if this show skipped the pedo element, it could be much much better.

Conclusion: absolutely mixed feelings 💫 ... but recommended 👍

👌 Murder mystery...without the murder

Everyone loves murder mysteries. Someone dies in a place where escape isn't possible, so you know you are around a murdered 24/7. Thankfully, there is always someone who came to save the day, and finds the murderer, saving the day and others.
But have you ever thought about a murder mystery without the murder? 11 people, stranded on a spacer ship, needing, no having to pass their test find out there is one too many people. It's scary, they're not sure what to do - but they all know what their ultimate goal is. Finish the test and get into academy. So ... they try to work together... but there are those, that can't let their guard down.
And if you can't trust your teammates, how can you work in a team?

👌 Dumbasses, dumbasses in love, and stupid biatches

The cast can be divided into three groups.
Dumbasses - a group of lovable but not very important characters.
Biatches - a group of little bitches that made this whole experience harder than necessary (not for the viewers, but themselves).
And dumbasses in love - that is my special little category of three people, Tada, Frol, Amazon.
I must say, it's been a while since I met cast this good. The "bad" guys are just immature little pricks, mostly King's butt-kissers. They seem to be besties, and just kind of let him take on the leader's role. Those who don't get much screen time still have fun little lines and great design.
And my best trio - Amazon who is ridiculous, Frol that got on my nerves sometimes and Tada who I kind of hate in a good way... They were all great.

Now spoilers:
The love story between Frol and Tada was so awful I loved it. Frol was annoying Tada from the beginning, comparing them at everything because of Frol's need to be a good man. And when it seemed like they will fail the test, Tada just casually asked Frol for their hand in marriage. Frol said yes, of course, and I swooned. Then when they found out they passes, Tada was so sad, the poor thing, because he thought Frol will want to become a man and won't marry him. But Frol said they still want to marry Tada!!!!
I am so normal about them....

👌 Problem & more problems

You might think, thank God Tada is a telepath. Now he can tell us who is lying about being an applicant. Haha, no. All 11 of them seem to be real deals. Which means there is nothing they can do. Oh, yes. There is a button to call for help - but that would mean they all failed the test.
But this isn't their only problem. Around the ship - Esperanza - are Conductor vines. They are used for wiring, but they can also spread a Dell Red Spotted Fever - that is deadly.
You might think, thankfully they only cause fever at a high temperature... but what if, hypothetically, the temperature of the ship started to raise?
That's not all. Tada is a huge problem as well. Hearing voices, having visions... What is happening to him??

👌 Manga and a sequel

I read the manga prior to watching this movie. I prefer clean manga, which means I don't like a lot of text, bubbles, sparkles and too many pictures cramped on one page. Sometimes it's hard for me to read it.
But this one... I enjoyed a lot. I thought it was one of the best mangas I have ever read. I do recommend it to all the manga readers out there!
The adaptation was staying pretty true to the source. I was happy about that - I saw all my favorite moments animated. What I didn't find too amusing were the ending credits that told us the fate of the applicants after they passes the test.
Nevermind that!
Once you're done with the movie and the manga, you might find yourself wanting a little more... And thankfully there is a sequel. I didn't read it yet, but I am sure it will be okay!
What I wanted to say in this section is that it doesn't matter what media you enjoy more - 11-nin Iru! is for everyone and EVERYONE should give it a chance!

This anime was weird. From the first scene to the last, it was incredibly weird and feelings mixed inside of me - not having idea whether I enjoyed it or not.
It's a slice of life comedy anime that was great in it's time but fails to capture a bigger audience nowadays. It's fun to know that the Japanese used the sex-change trope in 2001 right. I am very conflicted about this anime though.
The art can be really cute, the jokes can be really funny. Some characters designs are amazing some aren't such pleasure to look at.
As someone who is studying to be a teacher, ... I liked the trope of wanting to be a good teacher and I liked the aspect of our MC doing everything to help his students.
The character of "Baa-chan" is typical for old comedy anime, and it worked great in this show as well. Overall, the anime did a great job at presenting the story they tried to cover, so I can't really say anything bad about that.
There is a homoerotic (wait no, since Hibiki is a man it isn't) tension between Hibiki and Fuko, which was fun to watch but then you realize how annoying Fuko is. I disliked her for many many episodes.
Another plus is how Hibiki became accustomed to being a female. It was so fun to watch him come to realization that he likes certain things and how he had a date with his students and bought himself "girly" stuff.

Episode 7 didn't make a good impression. Calling gays "dirty" and even using the term "fruitcake" is funny when you translate is a as a sarcasm... but that's all I can say about it. Points down for something so unnecessary.
ALSO, great job at showing how dangerous sexism is. I am a woman, still I appreciated the way this anime addressed boys having hard time around women in power. I had the displeasure of seeing it happen in person, but the way Hibiki is defending her male students is really great and speaks volumes. This anime has a strong tone of gender rights... But then the mixed feelings come back as they had to push Fuko falling in love with Hibiki forward. It was not necessary, it was awkward and Jesus, why?! And they even made it a plot twist...
We got a romance out of the blue that got the key focus - and that was a weird shift. And it was a unhappy love triangle as well. In the end the gay jokes had no business being there since Fuko thought she was in love with a girl.
