Despite the show being bait like making the girl sexual in some episodes, it's pretty cool for a dude to make cosplay outfits and stuff for the girl. It's not a deal breaker to me because the characters were cute in their own way so I did enjoy it, but it felt like I was watching hentai at times, especially that demon-girl-cosplay at the end. Can't wait for more with less lewd and more story.
Story so far is pretty interesting and cute concept, the art-style is charming and I like how each character has their own thing. The series overall is so far alright, but
...
the constant bait is a turn-off for most, and rightfully so but I tried to not let it get in the way.

Okay, I'll say the obvious: Season 1, 2 and 3 were bangers and I plan to write their reviews but for now I'll stick to season 4.
Honestly, I felt as if this was the most dragged-out season of them all. Season 1 was amazing, seeing the main duo from young years to high schoolers and to having to get together and become better and being teammates. Season 2 was also great, just training and trying hard to be really better at volleyball and I loved every second of each episode. Season 3 PERSONALLY I felt was reasonably dragged out; against an intense team, anything could
...
happen, really hard and smart opponents fighting for the same goal: to partake in the spring torunament.
Season 4... was horrible to watch. OKAY- It wasn't like horrible but other seasons made me want to watch the anime and not do anything else. THIS ANIME made me want to do something else OTHER than watching it because it was sooo boring and long. The Season 4 dragging out did not work well on me.
I won't write a super detailed review but here's why I thought it wasn't up to the high standard I put the other seasons;
---
1. Useless dragging out of 3 sets amongst a shit ton of episodes. The team before the Miya twins wasn't super bad [still bored me] but it looked alright, and it was the first team so of course, you gotta beat them in 2 sets - you can't lose the first game yk?
2. In each episode there was always some 'cool' backstory of an enemy team member WHICH would have been good - IF THEY WERE IMPORTANT TO THE STORY?!??! Nekoma is obviously important cause Hinata and Kenma get along, or Bokuto's team helping Hinata's team grow in previous seasons. What pissed me off the most was that we have met other teams before these teams that are in the spring tournament and never really gotten any background of them - ever - and these random teams we just get their whole team background stories? What!?
3. Season 3 dragging was reasonable, the team they fought against was told to be the best, super strong, and won 3 times in a row- c'mon! Of course, you'd be hyped and excited to see the amazing fight. The teams that Karasuno fought against in season 4 were never mentioned before [only introduced in the same season], got character background stories- like what??? This season felt like the most time-wasting one yet! I thought they'd just go through like 4 teams or something in the span of the 4th season not against 2 with a shit ton of unimportant shit in between!
4. Art style change was a bit obvious - but this is just a nitpick cause I prefer original styles.
5. What in the fuck did they do to Kagayama? How is he ALL OF A SUDDEN, going back to being a douchebag, commanding people and telling them 'hey im good u suck' after 3 seasons of 'becoming better'!? I thought he learnt his lesson after getting traumatized for having no one to watch his back! Sure, you can't change a person like that but it was so all of a sudden! At least do it in the previous seasons not just all of a sudden in season 4! It made him look like a jackass, and Hinata saying 'oh, why is it bad to be a king?' [legit saying 'why is it bad being an asshole'] - I GET THEIR THE MAIN DUO BUT HELLO? HINATA? Did you not dislike him before you got to be his duo? Did you not want him to become better? Yeah it's out of his character all of a sudden to become an ass again, but it's also out of character that Hinata defends him TO BE AN ASSHOLE?
6. This series does not hype me. at. all. When they get points and get so happy- YEAH, I'M NOT HAPPY. Mainly because it doesn't have the same hype as the previous seasons annnd because the season drags out for soooo long with random backstories; you just forget why they're hyped that they scored, what are they trying to win, and how strong their enemies are [literally, seeing so many useless backstories made me forget that they're even participating in a torunament].
----
So, why did I give it a 5? Well, here's why:
- besides all the horrifying shit I saw, I didn't hate the show too much mainly because it hypes me to see what is to become after this. I heard a movie's coming out and honestly, I hope this movie is like 5 hrs long because they are NOT going to win this tournament against like 3 strong teams in less than an hour- THEY LITERALLY MADE HALF OF SEASON 4 FIGHTING 1 TEAM!!!! CMON NOW?! I swear if this movie or next season sucks, I'm gonna dislike haikyuu and say it's suffering from season 4 syndrome (Every series that has a 4th season has their 4th season horrible).
- I liked the part when they made Tanaka [baldie] literally be more than just a punching bag or a pervert. Yes, it's present in this season BUT he's also seen in a much better light, get some background that he had a childhood friend who's a girl and played volleyball. It's amazing. I already loved Tanaka from the beginning so seeing him get some attention was amazing.
- Noya got some attention this season too which was also good, CONSIDERING HE'S PART OF THE MAIN TEAM AND SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT A LONG TIME AGO?! WHY ARE RANDOM ENEMY TEAMS GETTING MORE BACKGROUND STORIES PRESENTED THAN THE MAIN TEAM?!!
- Hinata, after 3 seasons, FINALLY LEARNS AND TRIES TO RECEIVE AND MANAGES. I'm not a volleyball expert but I'm glad he's using more of his brain than just being told to listen and follow Kagayama.
is2g Haikyuu is an amazing concept and to see it start to crack apart because of this season.... feels awful.

If you want to continue the show as a laughing gag, be my guest, I did too and I laughed and enjoyed it, however, I got attached with Rias and her love for her literal revived dead friends and the whole family she created and stayed for the main character; who surprisingly made me laugh too much. Anyhow, **DON'T TAKE MY REVIEW AS 100% AS I WAS ONLY STATING IT IN A PERSPECTIVE IF YOU TAKE THE SERIES SERIOUSLY AS I DID.** I was quite tired in Season 4 as in comparison to previous seasons I felt it was lacking... a lot.
--------
- The art style
...
is okay, even though it was a weird change considering the original season 1, 2 and 3 art style that just changed into a forced eyes anime art style all of a sudden but it doesn't bother you till like 4 episodes in. I'm assuming the company who made it changed some artists but I wouldn't know, I just watch anime.
- Season 4 introduced some characters I hadn't seen [like new villians] which put me a little off, as well as the school president whom Rias knows well as the other original demon house seems to not appear and I really liked what the blonde sword guy [i forgot his name] and the school president's right-hand woman would have between each other.
[this could be my fault as I had stopped watching the anime for a good 3 weeks, but put me a bit off.]
- Rias seems more... low-key just babyish? In season 1 she was super assertive and liked Issei and this was shown throughout seasons 2 and 3 but in season 4 she's just been laying low, practically frolicking after Issei like a chicken [like most of the cult LOL]. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating the show because I'd recommend it, but it's just weird to see Rias not as assertive... at all. She's literally acting like a tsundere without addressing the problems to Issei or creating a little more drama, she kinda just walks away from everything [expecting that Issei is going to use his brain to click everything].
- Besides Rias and Issei, the rest of the characters literally don't do anything to contribute to the story [either because the people who made the series had already put so many different characters and can't do much anymore as it would be too much or because they already had to some extent in previous seasons]. The characters might as well be background characters as they were just, the same: shove boobies in Issei's face to get his attention [more on this in the last paragraph]. Asia seemed to be more assertive in season 3 however her remaining in her innocent nature FOR 4 SEASONS STRAIGHT was just pointless, as well her ability is almost never used or ever upgraded and the pet she got in one of the seasons never ever appeared ever again. Xenophia and the angel girl are just weird as hell, the angel girl is a random character who's in to kinda show the status of heaven [like hell has demons and heaven has angels] while Xenophia is... just all the time trying to have babies with Issei which was funny the first two times, but got sickening afterward. Akeno had an amazing backstory and honestly, I expected her to fight for her love for Issei however with Rias being her owner, she kinda just let her take him which was understandable, but still disappointing. Koneko is the same, good background but since Rias is the whole owner she gave him away. Gasper is just adorable, wish we saw him upgrade his powers too, same with the sword dude who I forgot his name.
^ see how the problem is everyone is dull and boring and not doing anything interesting while the main love interest [Rias] is acting like a child? Tsundere's are hit or miss for me however you would think a girl with lots of power and the owner of literal demons would be super assertive to get what she wants; especially someone as important as a love interest despite the casualties and in the 4th season she acts like a fucking baby.
- I got introduced into the series from seeing a nine-tale mother fox being saved by Issei while Akeno, Rias and Koneko were somewhere else (the strongest characters just laying back - being boring.), to then some ALMOST sex scene between Rias and Issei to him being a dumbass and not seeing she loves him and she got offended by getting called president again to everything being on edge all the time as if he's walking on eggshells then it was normal in the rating game?? what kinda tsundere double twist am I watching? It's weird mainly cause so much happened and I don't know if I missed anything or I saw the wrong episodes in order but till I finished I got confused, a lot. I had no idea what was happening.
- The last, and most dramatic part yet: the number of boobs. No, it's not that there isn't A LOT, actually there's too much. I was watching an episode and all of a sudden the angel childhood friend is trapped in a closet with Issei while Asia fainted after kissing Issei with Xenophia still being fucking weird and wanting to have a child with Issei, what the hell??? Then when Akeno and Koneko heal him *(i understand Akeno from previous seasons but Koneko???!?!?) then all of a sudden Asia joins in, then Xenophilia, then the angel girl-- just, I SAW LIKE 12 BOOBIES!!! It was too much. Especially after having seen so many boobs from the last season and the whole series being related to boobies... yeah.
still would recommend this 10/10 for the laughs and memes, don't regret it - just don't watch season 4 unless you want to gauge your eyes out with the tsundere stuff.
