As another user put it so beautifully
"It is not easy to fairly review a title that takes basic human decency, crumples it up, proceeds to piss on it, before lighting it all on fire, and finally starts to barbeque fetuses over the flames of innocence lost."
However, (s)he said it as if that's a bad thing.
Overview:
First off, to properly enjoy schooldays you must have some sadomasochistic tendencies, it starts off as your average harem comedy, but it slowly starts spiralling into such a grotesque perversion of the genre that it stops being a comedy altogether. I watched it with two friends, one of which quit halfway
...
because he couldn't stand the descent into madness and depression. However, those who stick with the series to the end will enjoy a lovely reward in the final episode.
The story:
Without spoiling too much the following can be said: As said before it starts as your average harem comedy, this blissful simplicity lasts for about one epsisode. After that it's a slow descent into madness. The plot runs on the blood, sweat and tears of the characters, who knew highschool could be this messed up.
The rest:
the art and sound were okay, no real complaints there. As for the characters: the main character is a jerk and half the school seems to be in serious need of a psychologist.
Conclusion:
This is a must watch if you like harem comedies and would like to see a harem setting as drama/tragedy rather than comedy. I wouldn't recommend this anime to the faint-hearted though, it's one of, if not the, most disturbing things I've ever seen (including the pianist and hobo with a shotgun.)
Nice camera angle though.
