Look, this could have been that nice casual weekly show you watch less for the plot and more for the charas interactions and strong FL, but this series has a major flaw that I can't get over - why in the world is she 10 and he's 19. Let's say I could've accepted a big age gap if physically she was at least 15-16, like other shows with the whole reincarnation setting, but nooo she needs to be 10 and look like a child for some reason (*cough* loli bait?). 'It would've been better if you were 2-3 years YOUNGER' and 'you're my ideal'. Yeah

Ep 2 'An adult is simply a child who has grown older' yeah if we're talking about interests and personality, not trying to romance a 130cm tall 10yo. bruh. 'haha I'll win your love by baking croissants' and then you'll give me sweets if I go into your van or what?? I don't care if anyone says oh he's immature for his age, maybe he's had a bad childhood, I don't caaare. At 19 I wouldn't have found a 10yo attractive cause I ain't a pdf. I seriously can't fathom the author's intentions by making him a pdf, and it makes me question their morals for trying to pass this as a 'joke'. ''The emperor says his fiance can't be older than 14'' why is this crap being brought up so often? There's definitely a plot point there but the author could've easily made it 15-18, there's not a single valid reason for this character to be prepubescent.
But apart from the big elephant in the room I just adressed, the story itself just feels boring af to me.
Pros: The only good part was episode 3 cause we didn't see much of the ML. And even so, when he appeared on screen he still managed to annoy me by saying lady Sphere might be happier dying now, how can he think like that about someone who was always so sincere and supportive of him? Such a nice girl too. Sit on a carrot you crazy man. Apart from the last few seconds, he's been pretty useless so far, does he even have redeeming qualities? Call me delusional but she's had more chemistry with the love rival girlie in those few minutes than a whole 3 episodes with the insane emperor.
TLDR If you haven't yet, just watch better shows with the tropes you're looking for:
Romance with a former enemy - 7th time loop
Changing fate by making different choices - Raeliana
Strong FL - Villainess Level 99, Heretical last boss queen, there's even a show airing rn 'Villainess Who Goes Down in History' with a smart young FL and no sketchy tropes.

If you need a chill fun show to pass time, this is it. It doesn't have any real depth or complexity, it's only supposed to be entartaining and give you that one crumb of dopamine in the moment. Contrary to other reviews I actually like the MC, he's made to be dense as a plot device/comedic gag, the joke is mostly "idk how strong I really am!!" so get ready to see it in every episode lol but it does make sense in the context, since he lived isolated from others and never mastered any high tier skills.

psychoanalyse this chara but stay with me, he's not retarded but autistic:
- Doesn't understand social cues/subtext/nuance
- Repetitive actions and one track-mind when he finds something interesting (the poison, the skills from each school)
- Did everything in a pattern and never changed his routine of training
- Doesn't understand hierarchy (he does know she's the daughter of the king! he just sees the king as a father figure to her and not as a higher standing person because people with autism usually see everyone as equals / don't understand authority that well unless exposed to it frequently)
- Draws his own straight-forward conclusions, because 'common sense' is not actually intuitive to everyone. If someone said 'this guy is hella strong, NO ONE can beat him' he'll take it literally, and because he knows he's only a low rank but still beats him - the logical conclusion is that the 'strong' guy went easy on him. It really makes sense imo and he's consistently written to act like this so I have no problems with the mc's personality.

Why is the rating of this anime so low?? This is one of the most refreshing shows I've seen in a while, the characters actually act normal and in a realistic way, there's no forced romance or weird tropes, only good vibes. If you're put off by the reincarnation thing, it's not brought up at all during the show, so I do agree it could've been omitted to begin with but maybe the author wanted more traction for it, who am I to judge. Somehow I gave this show an 8 when it came out and I was a teen. Now, upon rewatching a few episodes as an adult, I'm flabbergasted. How did they get away with a series about a 27-29 yo kissing and sleeping (in the manga) with a 15-17 yo. Ok so what if they have Some cute moments? What a sad world we live in, where anime with interesting storylines and lots of potential are wasted as shota/loli bait and harems. Clearly, the story is fun. Op mc with a real fascination for magic, he befriends some other charas and wants to learn from them, has an animal companion... so why. why do they add all those cringy ass tropes like the maid being in love/attracted to him when he is literally 10 and even looks like a child. Pros: the chara design is cute, the fights are fun, boy is just op and enjoying his power while desiring more knowledge
Cons: pedobait and too much fanservice that distracts from the story
Overall if it had no sus scenes it would've been an 8, but considering how annoying they are I have to rate it around 6.5 or lower depending on how the next episodes unfold. Although it had a solid start, all that bs made me disappointed as I kept watching.

This anime portrays the 'found family' trope so damn well, especially towards the end with Val's backstory, it made me tear up. It's not very cliche-y, except for the setting of the first episode (the whole reincarnation bit) but the story itself keeps evolving and building up with each episode, which makes it an engaging experience that holds your attention throughout the show.
I like how the MC is smart and strong but not over the top or unrelatable, she struggles, feels emotions deeply, and genuinely cares for the other characters. Each problem encountered is solved in a satisfying manner and by the end of

it you will feel attached to everyone. Speaking of side characters, they're all interesting, complex and well written in my opinion, each contributing something to the story.
I think there's only 1 episode left but I enjoyed this anime a lot and I truly don't believe it deserves any negativity just for being 'another reincarnation show' cause it's so much more than that. I hope it reaches at least a 7.5 rating eventually, it really deserves it.
