Eizouken is an anime I watched when I had/felt like nothing to watch. The plot is straightforward. 3 Highschool girls embark on a journey to produce anime, for their own individual interests and reasons.
The world, art, character building, sound, and settings are most definitely a fresh mix. Although, I'm a little in the grey regarding the technological situation. It does seem slightly contradictory. But nothing too serious to hinder the plot or the enjoyment of the viewer. Other than that, the story unfolds ever so smoothly.
The sounds and the jolly humor are exceptional, I must say. They go hand in hand with one another.
...
Ambient music aiding ordinary or light comedic moments, that are sometimes slap-stick-oriented was most definitely something to look forward to in each episode.
The world is conventional but with an outlandish theme. Which gives it a familiar yet unfamiliar look, simultaneously. For instance, how the rivers or waterways are right in-between close-knitted rows of buildings. Or how some roadways are basically turned into rivers/waterways. The rest is almost ordinary. Sure is a fresh look.
Overall, Eizouken is a bubbly, light-hearted series with some notably unique mixes.

A TL;DR beforehand- The show is, undoubtedly, emotionally touching. The intended message regarding the importance of empathy and consideration is gotten through plausibly. An incredible story indeed. Albeit, I do think it could have been more elaborate and credible to avoid giving off the improper impression of "Emotion without substance". Like how the reasonable consequences/results are shown without proper build-up(inspired by GoT S8). Character build is something this show lacks in at major, which is frustrating at points. But it's kinda understandable why that's not the case since the movie is half the length of an average 12-ep series. This makes me hopeful for the
...
manga regarding the plot holes and the continuation of the storyline.
Below are my further thoughts on different aspects of Koe no katachi in a raw and concise fashion, except for Character build/study. That's something I'd like to be more elaborate on, due to its incongruence.
-For the most part, concepts such as Karma and meaningful friendship are beautifully portrayed. As much as the (emotional) reactions and thoughts that are consequently probable or anticipated are displayed extraordinarily well, for half of the time. Their "quality" suffers for the other half. Like it's still there, but it's not as intense or strong as expected.
-Dialogues/conversations are satisfying at major. Though, sometimes lacking proper emotional or expressional support. They hit right.
-Pacing and sequence are all right. The back and forth between past and present and the flashbacks are quite a mix.
-Art/design & effects are of high quality. Pretty neat and appealing I'd say. The appearance and vanishment of the imaginary crosses was a fresh idea.
-Sounds(all sorts) are on point. Though the waterfall at the beginning was unnecessarily loud and buggy, as well as the evening serenity. Brief yet annoying.
*Nagatsuka was the only one who felt me and god fucking finally landed a hug.
•Character build(Spoilers ahead)
-Unnaturally unsupportive and ignorant school faculty. Sometimes lame, shy, or carefree enough not to maintain the basic decorum. Other times, not so much. Seems as if calmness/tolerance and carelessness have been mixed up. Hence the unnatural outlook.
-As much as Ishida is regretful and "desperate" to make things right. Sometimes he just doesn't seem to be striving as much. Like how he was about to die(literally) due to guilt. In short, his actions fail to match his words, in crucial moments. He's been significantly confused since the beginning. He always realizes things very late. Like how he never formally apologized to Ishimiya and so. Better late than never I guess.
What I don't understand is how things come about to "unnaturally" work out for him without him playing his part. Like how his friends get back without any effort or a proper exchange whatsoever. Neither does he do "anything" about his "image" at school which has bothered him enough to come up with imaginary crosses that appear on the faces of everyone Ishida suspects of being hated/disliked by— which is basically the whole school. Although, I was impressed by the moment when the epiphany hits Ishida and suddenly the crosses come off just as he realizes it was all in his head just because a handful of people gave off the impression. This signifies the importance of the "bigger picture". Overall, this is a plot hole on a broader level.
-Ishimiya is friendly, apologetic, and forgiving. She's also very plain and naive. What I can't get a grasp of, is her self-hatred. Although her grade school experiences were terrible yet brief, with the subsequent being all right as nothing bad happening was shown(not much was shown actually). It seems those memories were the only ones she carried forward. Her character build-up is a major plot hole in my opinion.
-Ishimiya's mother was surprisingly tolerant of Ishida on her birthday. She doesn't seem to bring up any of Ishida's wrongdoings at all. Neither does it bother her to leave Ishimiya alone with Ishida at the festival. I'm sure there must have been enough off-screen conversations between Nishimiya, Yuzumi(her sister), and her mother, regarding the Nishida situation. But a glimpse of those moments would have sufficed.
-Kawai's character is a good example of "Holier-than-thou". She's selfish and sees things mostly from one perspective. Her perspective. At times she's been portrayed as being hypocritical or so it seems, which makes it hard to distinguish whether or not her concerns are real or just a display.
-Ueno is probably the only character who's build-up has the least holes. She's cruel and selfish and that's it.

Just 6 minutes in and the episode send me wheezing. This is probably the most hilarious anime I've watched to date. Though the series relies on slapstick humour and absurdity beyond measure. The comedy makes it easy to look over those aspects. It's more of a great example of how to turn absurdity and folly into entertainment and by that, I certainly don't mean to imply that the jokes are childish or so. It's more about how the show exaggerates or undermines some concepts—like how the loss of blood or being injured and the ecchi aspect, alongside others, purely serves a farce purpose.
The level of
...
nudity is fairly mild. Panty shots and oversized breasts–though only 1 character has them, she gets a decent amount of screentime. Other than that, the sexual jokes are fantastic. Top fucking kek. It's also interesting how some concepts such as integrity among friends is kept serious without any loss of comedy.
Overall, Prison school is a great anime to lighten or cheer the mood. Though it's nothing intense or serious, yet it does not fail to keep you hooked for even a split second.

TL;DR- The show has a lot of potential judging from how realistic and interesting the plot is. However bad execution, even worse character development and the worst possible MC are the 3 things which bring this series from a 9 to a 4-5 rating. Do check out the honourable mentions.
**Spoilers ahead**
Personally, this has been the most frustrating series I've watched as of March 2020, to the point I was out of anger and frustration in which case my brain switched over(cuz something had to be used) and I starting laughing(yes its that dumb and bad), but hear me out.
The series takes off as an innocent
...
one-sided crush story of a high schooler Itou Makoto(This is the only time "innocent" is unfortunately used as a descriptor for this series). From there it escalates pretty quickly to a love-triangle and then to a love-octagon.
The mc is so bad, even regarding him as bad is an insult to "bad". This anime is full of irony and the definition of adding "insult to injury" and if that wasn't enough, this anime will frustrate you to the point you run out of that emotion
I get it, deception, cheating, mistakes(which is never a part of this series) are all real-world issues, including girls ending up falling for jerks. Which is the reason I continued this series in the first place. But to the point where it makes no sense at all the women end up fighting over the MC like he's some god-like creature is a failure at a harem show.
Even though Itou's treachery and dumbfoundedness and all are as manifest as the effects of a plague patient, it isn't enough for the girls to get over him.
The girl Itou first falls for, Kotonoha, actually ends up as his girlfriend. Tries her best to be an amazing partner to Itou, struggles really hard to be his ideal, just to be cheated upon. Here I'd like to add how bad the character development is, since its clear how she has deep psychological scars but never really expand on it.
• Honourable mentions coming up
"If you promise me to not sleep with any girl other than Sekai, I let you sleep with me" -Setsuna, in attempts to get a person(Itou) who'd easily trade his soul for a snap of a side-tiddie, to look after her best-friend Sekai.
"I came over to convince you to go cheer Sekai up after being caught cheating on her and look what I ended up doing with you" -Hikari(Sekai's friend) after sleeping with Itou and before smashing once more.
"I wonder how good Itou really is after all"- 3 of Otome's(a girl who likes Itou and has smashed twice) friends planning to smash with Itou to "measure" his stamina in bed.
"Why do I have to go through all this"-Itou after slipping and falling
"Why did you make the baby?"-Itou to Sekai
At this point Idk whos worse, the girls or the MC.
**MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD***
However, the part where Sekai just stabs the shit outta Itou is practically orgasmic to the point you'd forget all the bad about this anime.
