peak. Originally I'd give it an 8 but considered the times + I don't know if what I'm asking can be accomplished a 9 is more suitable. A must watch shonen, relax, have fun, laugh a lot and you will definitely cry here and there. Also, I fast forwarded regurarly in many scenes since the old animation had some terrible pacing during an episode.
The story might seem simplistic and the main character, Sakuragi, too predictable but it is narrated in such a natural way and quite realistic compared to other sports anime. As a basketball fan, the show being old helps me recognize many differences

in the sport as 3 decades have passed. Nevertheless, the usual style of a "show for kids" is present making the story coincidental as if the planets have aligned or the dialogues are pretty expectable. However, many hidden meanings are passed from the relationships of the characters even if they look surficial and also the good sportsmanship is strongly promoted. And I want to insist on the last point because lots of sports anime will pop out a "bad guy" with no morals or values at all while being on the top level and imo something like that is so dumb and foolish to show. Well, I haven't read the rest of the manga yet so I might be dumbfounded but I strongly believe Inoue would never show a complete evil character for no reason at all just to create some content.
