At first i was not expecting much from SAO yet again because i did not really like the anime series that much with it's lack of development and plotholes. But then after watching the movie at the theater, it turns out that i was somewhat wrong. Some of you guys might understand this.

Story 4/10
Then again it's SAO. Plotholes and utter bullshits will happen otherwise. It really is decent and there is really nothing special about it. The pacing at the beginning were very very slow then it excalated quickly during the final 30 mins filling the plotholes when in the beginning you were like, "What ... exactly is going on here?". They straight up jammed the plot into your mind and makes you think at the end scene, "Wow, that excalated quickly". Still, the story is predictable with jesus-kun solving and saving everyone at the end with the power of complete BS.

Art 9/10
Now this is what i call an improvement! Compared to the series the art is definitely better. The fight scenes were beautiful and smooth as expected of a budget anime. I would give this a 10/10 if it were not for the long distance shots of the characters which was horrible at it's worst. Though the short distance shots and the rendering of the characters are amazing!

Sound 10/10
Personally, what motivates me to watch this movie is the BGM. Yes, the one thing i really love about SAO are it's BGM's and OST's. New songs by Yuna are also there like Ubiquitous dB and Break Beat Bark which are good in my opinion. Then the iconic BGM's from the first season like Swordland were also added. To complete it, even LiSA sang the ending for this movie which to me is eargasm.

Character 5/10
Ah.. it won't be called sword art online if it weren't for Jesus-kun the almighty savior. Developments are "meh" to be expected, they really just focuses on Kirito and Asuna's relationship with a plus added from a certain character with a certain character, i won't spoil. New characters were introduced, not much to say about them cause i'll spoil. It's pretty much the same as the anime series. Side characters didn't receive much attention at the end, the relationships are pretty much like the excalibur arc in the 2nd season.

Enjoyment 7/10
It will really feel different if you watch it in the theaters. The atmosphere is amazing with the added bonus of amazing surround sound of Yuna singing. I unexpectedly quite enjoy this movie.

I can't say it's a great perfect masterpiece movie but i really can't say it's that bad either. Seriously, in my opinion it's better than the series. Way better. I recommend you guys watch it at the theaters while it's there. It really gives me the same atmosphere when i was watching Boruto the Movie in the theaters a while back. Will probably watch again if i don't have anything better to do.
