In both manga, a boy meets a beautiful girl, and somehow ends up living with her as well as her little sister. There is comedy, in addition to ecchi, in both series. There is also a romantic love triangle element present in both Ane Doki! and Pastel. Furthermore, a large portion of their story takes place either at school or home. Moreover, the protagonists like the heroine and another girl before meeting her (causing the love triangle).

Both of these series are funny and ecchi, where the protagonist ends up living with a cute girl and her little sister. Moreover, a large portion of the manga is set at either school or home. There is a love triangle element present as well. Furthermore, they have above-average artwork in addition to an impeccable storyline - two ingerdients that make any manga an A-list. Finally, both Ane Doki! and Ayu Mayu (I like to call it "Ayu Mayu Nayu;" if you read it, you will understand why) have a relatively small number of chapters (twenty-six and twenty-nine, respectively), which are filled with joy. You would be missing out if you have not read either. Note: Due to being in a shounen magazine, where most series at the time were of the action genre, Ane Doki! did not sell well, which caused the series to end abruptly. However, the author did manage to conclude the story relatively well (she wrote Hatsukoi Limited. and Ichigo 100%, after all), considering the circumstances, but some things, unfortunately, were left unexplained (e.g., the importance of the necklace) and relationships not fully explored (e.g., both the school idol and the little sister with the protagonist). Ayu Mayu suffered a similar fate (it was axed), but had an overall better conclusion, to some extent.

In both series, a guy moves into a girls-only dormitory and is beaten by a long-haired girl who claims she does not like him, despite the fact that she does, while being teased by her friend for that. The protagonists share the desire to be better in order to reach their goals. The cast is also similar, consisting of a tsundere; a lazy tease; a hyperactive girl; a shy maiden; and a quiet, calm virgin. The episodes of Amaenaideyo!! and Love Hina are filled with funny, happy, romantic and dramatic moments.

In both series, the main character is a girl who is excited to be a high school student. The girls' personalities and looks are similar also, as they are both long-haired freshmen that are hyper and quick to making decisions. Wanting to meet boys is another trait they have in common. Furthermore, she does foolish things which makes her reprimanded by her friend(s). In addition, other characters are alike, with a competitive student and a shy one in the cast, among others. Both anime are ecchi as well. Moreover, comedy plays a big part in B Gata H Kei and in Joshikousei Girl's High. Finally, they have the same number of episodes and no OAV or ONA specials.
