This anime is somehow worse than Baki (the new baki) for me, and in a few ways. I’ll start by using Baki as a comparison.
In Baki, there is Atleast an attempt at culminating excitement in the watcher. At using characters to build hype for the climax. That may be because Baki has a very in depth rich manga behind it. Garouden does aswell, but the story of the main character fujimaki is more left to interpretation and not as in depth in the source material. This was Netflix’s attempt at creating a deeper story for Fujimaki. His story was already badass as is. So, it
...
couldn’t be hard to create a story for that right?
Wrong.
There really isn’t any lead up of excitement for the climax.
Garouden the way of the wolf is very…cold. Aesthetically. With its characters. (Hell the characters hardly even have any facial expressions.) hell even the first episode starts in a cold set in the snow.
Everything about this anime is cold. The main character is cold and really has no feelings, Or Atleast doesn’t show them.
And this ends up being its greatest downfall.
With the creator trying to work this aesthetic of coldness into the story, he ended up going too far, creating one of the most lifeless and boring seinen fighting animes to ever exist.
The fights are quick and usually end in submissions, which is honestly the worst part of fighting.
Nobody likes seeing someone being submitted. It’s the lamest form of fighting.
In fact, the main character looks incompetent at fist fighting many times throughout this anime.
The mystery behind him being some ultra powerful fighter is really destroyed when he gets his ass kicked most of the fights and has to end them in a submission.
I mean, if you’re like into BJJ, maybe this anime is good for you? I’m hardly seeing how anyone else could like this.
None of the characters that were introduced to as fighters are rememberable past a couple seconds.
Literally, they have no dialogue and are just shown being submitted in fights
The final character that we get to see in the main ark, probably has the most backstory. But the fight lasts a couple minutes and after, there’s two more episodes!
It turns out he wasn’t actually the final villain at all. In fact, the final villain is just some throwaway character that we get a scene of in one of the earlier episodes.
A lot of the pacing is all over the place. The dialogue is all over the place.
It’s not confusing if you have a brain, but even I had trouble keeping up.
It’s really a sloppy mess.
And it’s a shame because this character seems like a really cool character, FujiMaki, they give him like the best anime intro I’ve ever seen in my life with the best outro I’ve ever seen in my life, that actually builds his character better than the anime itself.
In fact, if they made an anime that was exactly like the intro and outro, this anime would probably be one of the greatest animes of all time.
I just don’t understand how they made some of the best art with the intro and outro and just threw it out the door and made some of the most boring, hard to watch, lifeless anime I have ever seen in my entire life. They truly did a disservice to whoever made those intros and outros.
If theyre gonna do another one, I would tell Netflix to hire whoever made the intro and outro to make the anime itself. Cause The anime itself is garbage.

Cromartie highschool is….strange?
No. Retarded? Yes. Retarded. That’s the word.
Please watch it.
I gave it a 8 cause it kind of draaaaags when it’s funny, and sometimes it’s a hit or miss with its comedy.
But when it’s funny? God. It’s so god damn funny.
Like. Some of the funniest shit I have ever witness in my life.
I could rewatch this for laughs.
Secretly it’s a 10/10 but, in all honesty, it’s an 8, cause it’s hit or miss with jokes it’s dragging, and how short it is, which is, unfortunate! (They even brag in the anime how much longer the manga is which is so goddamn weird, but
...
god, hilarious)

Well, I did not expect to like this anime as much as I did.
I was actually expecting this anime to be a lot dumber and childish than it actually is.
I mean, it is dumb and childish, but it’s more along the lines of made in abyss, (albeit not as brutal) in that, it shares a serious and compelling story.
Don’t get me wrong, this anime is very much about food. And the big climaxes of each episode is what they do with each creature they make into food, but it also sets a very lovely atmosphere for character development and world building that makes
...
this anime feel so alive.
It’s very well written and I think I’m very pleased with how Netflix handled this as I don’t think Netflix handles all of their anime 100% though there is some good ones. There’s also some misses this is one of the good ones.
I also really enjoyed the English VA.
I thought they were very charismatic and perfect for the roles. If you literally look up the voice actors, they look very similar to their character so it makes me wonder. Was this story written for voice actors like I don’t understand. It’s my understanding. This was a manga so probably not. But the casting is just so perfect for the English VA that it’s literally scary. I should say.
I noticed they put some very cute minor hinting details just for the audience to notice like right after a pivotal moment a character gets a weapon. They put little I want to say Easter eggs that can help the audience see that something else is going to happen because of that event. So it takes the audiences intelligence very seriously, even though it’s a very silly anime. And that’s why I enjoy it so much.
The character chemistry is so perfect. I usually am quick to notice when a cast just doesn’t work. And I’ve had many times where I’ve dropped animes because the character group chemistry was just so bad and none of the characters worked together, even if they worked alone as a character. The funny thing is it doesn’t seem like these characters work together, but they so incredibly do.
I also think it’s the first time that I’ve seen a lead female role in the position of being the comedic relief. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a female ever as comedic relief and if I did, it was so long ago or forgotten.
There’s a lot of *leftist* ideology with some of the characters. Like gender anonymous characters. Actually, trans voice actors voicing them. And usually I’m the first person to be like “wow they’re really spreading ‘the message’” (see rings of power)
But, honestly, it feels really natural and organic rather than some leftist using a “marginalized group“ as their pedestal to push some agenda, like literally forcing it down peoples throats. No, I didn’t really even notice any harmful “The message” rhetoric that’s always rancid to straight men. I actually found that the anime really is just supportive of everybody! and that is actually really nice to see because that is where I align politically. I just want everybody to be happy and not rancid and toxic and I don’t want my shows to be some sort of criticism about my ethics and character when I had nothing to do with advancing hatred at all to anyone so. it’s really refreshing to see everyone being celebrated instead of just one group and another group being demonized like all modern tropes in modern politics specifically in western media, tv and Hollywood..
Yeah, everyone does a great job in this. The voice actors, the writers, the director, the artists(actually bonus points to everyone if we’re being honest, I thoroughly enjoyed it all) . It’s really a very well done well-made anime. And it’s very fulfilling and appetizing 😉🍖
I would definitely give this anime a watch.
10/10, fully cooked!

I have finally finished watching death note after many years. It came out when I was in middle school and the first instance i had with it was in 6th grade. That was back in 2006. My friends were always talking about it, but it flew under my radar because i wasn’t too deep into anime besides what was show on adult swim. I was too busy watching shows on MTV like viva la bam, and the whitest kids you know.
I started the anime a couple years back to refresh my memory, i didnt get far when i first watched it, and if anything
...
only saw bits and pieces. Still, when I first watched it many years back i was enamored with the character design of light yagami, and i think he subconsciously rubbed off on me a bit throughout life, because he seemed more real than other anime characters. He was someone I could really grasp onto like he was really there, and he looked really cool. I even try to look like him to this day, get the same haircut as him and wear the same clothes. It’s very stylish and smart, and attractive. He was in school, and I was in school, so it made sense to see someone achieving their goals and trying to get what they want out of life. It was closely related to my own experience.
watching it through a couple years ago, i was very captured and really harkened down on my past self for missing out on something so great when it first came out. But the thing is, i dont hate myself because there was really good real life content in life at that time in 2006 that i would watch that made me more invigorated with living. The 2000s were just filled with an air of greatness, of wonder, and hope and destiny to life. Like things get so much better, it felt like, and you can really feel that atmosphere in this show. That sweet wonder of the 2000s. I actually think the best scene that captures this feeling is when Mikami is writing down the names of all the people in the warehouse at the end. It’s this really cool shot that felt so hardcore, and totally felt like the 2000s, and it really clashed with the rest of the anime. This really cool, hardcore style that didnt care what anyone thinks, next to this really hopeful, beautiful, world.
Watching through the show i was really captured by the story and the characters. It was really a thrill to watch, and it elicited so much feeling to see someone you truly love turn into a monster, Light yagami. I felt like how his family would feel if they knew what was happening. Speaking of which, this anime is all business. After the father dies, the family is basically gone from the plot, but i also felt that was a bit of a weak point.
I think where this anime falls short for me, personally, is that it really only focuses on light getting out of situations and crafting plans to “Win”. I would’ve like to see more character development for other characters, as a mature drama enjoyer myself, to see their reactions to the world around them. And thats why i feel the world in this anime is so under utilized. It’s only really used as a stepping stool to show how it can benefit light yagami, and i personally think that is genius from the writer, because the anime really follows the perspective of lights ego, his way thinking. He only cares about people or the world around him if it benefits him in the moment. Sure, he wants to save the world, but he becomes so enveloped in guising himself as a good guy that he forgets what being “God of the new world” actually means.
Thats where my last gripe with this anime comes in. As much as light is a “genius” and comes up with elaborate ways to lie and avoid detection, it seems thats all he’s really good at. He really is not as smart as the anime/manga portrays him, and im not saying that like L or Near is smarter. It’s just that, if he really wanted to become a good, if he really wanted to be this tyrant leader of the new world he is making, he would act like one. Instead, he tries to live a dual life so he doesn’t disappoint his father, which is dumb cause after his father dies, there’s really no point to continue on with the investigation team. Light easily could’ve secured his victory if he instead, just, used his extensive influence over the world, and killed all those that oppose him. It’s not like it’s impossible. He had fucking hit squads that carried guns and shot people in the center of the street in Japan, Japan of all places. He easily could’ve utilized them and made a regiment of soldiers and taken over the world instead of “giving his powers” to Mikumi. Im not sure if the author just wanted to make a “fatal flaw” in the character to show hes not really some monster and make the audience feel conflicted, that he really is some teenager with too much power, or if the author was just not thinking realistically about how power affects people and just gave light a destiny he couldn’t beat.
If I could rewrite this anime, I would make Light yagami take more inspiration towards real life figures like Fidel Castro, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, And Kim Jung-il. Kim Jung-il is the closest real life example he could’ve used himself, since they themselves believe they are a bloodline that comes from God. I just think, with all the real world examples out there, if light was really smart, which he is a high ranking student who has definitely studied world history, he had much more true to life inspiration he could’ve drew from. Hell, he coudlve even used any number of Caesars as inspiration. It makes more sense to me realistically speaking. I would change it so he truly kills everyone who gets in his way, the investigation team and all, and implements his own regiment to take over japan and then the world. I would even have him do talks on stage to all of his followers. With all of his power, he easily could’ve said he was god and had the world lift him up as one if he just…spoke to people. But clearly, he couldn’t do that for some reason? And thats really the main gripe i have with the anime. The Author tries to get you to believe Light is a genius but takes you out of the immersion of the story when he shows you just how many resources Light refuses to utilize, as well as keep him in situations that are totally avoidable. its just so, strange to me. But maybe, that also works for the story and shows light is simply just a teen with too much power. See, it all works. But I am conflicted about it, as an author.
All that aside, the story really works out as intended. The ending does work and is beautiful concluded.
This teen that has been shirking responsibility finally has to own up to his lies, and in a big way. It finally catches up to him, and he goes psychotic, like liars do when they’re found out. The end seen of him explaining it away really shows light as I seem him, a beautiful young man with his heart in the right place. An innocent teen corrupted at a malleable age. And that works so well for his character. It almost seems like the creators point with this book, was for kids to own up to their mistakes, take responsibility and stop lying. That’s ultimately what felt like had been completed at the end of the book. I also find it so beautiful that the “weak” member of the police force, that so idolizes light and misa misas relationship that he literally fan girls over light when he’s being listened to by wire tap, is the one that ends up shooting light and almost kills him. It’s so perfect. Literally such a perfect ending arc for that character. You truly feel the betrayal this character felt. It answers the question, “what happens when you friends who really innocently believe your lies, and love you, find out?” For this reason alone, I believe this anime maturely answers that. Betrayal, and retribution, realistically.
Death Note.

There are very few mech anime’s I’m willing to stomach. There has to be very good character development, plot, and world building for me to truly an enjoy mech anime’s. Some, but not limited to are “The Big O”, “Evangelion” and the anime that introduced me to it all; Gundam wing.
Gundam Wing is truly Gundams best in its long series or incarnations. The character design is there aesthetically, very 90s and futuristic, it seems so real you could take a bite of it, like a tasty juicy meat of your choosing.
Heero is badass, and all of the supporting characters are rememberable and badass as well.
Thats
...
just their personal characters, we’re not even talking about their mech suits, which, are so rememberable, i can hardly think of another Gundam series replicating such badass rememberable Gundam suits.
The characters are so good in Gundam wing, they made a spin off movie of one of the supporting characters, and even made another manga set in the future to seal off the main character and his love interests love story.
If that much dedication and love for this story from the already existing fan base and creators doesn’t sway you into watching this or enjoying this, I don’t know what will.
The villains of this anime are so rememberable and real, it’s truly adult in how they are crafted, with their motivations and character designs. They’re not just some “hehehe you have discovered my evil plan!” It’s intricate political climates and warring factions, and leaders of those parties.
This anime is so intricate in its story telling, it even has you believe in the beginning that the main character and supporting cast are actually the bad guys, terrorists as described. They’re child soldiers basically, only in their teens! It’s not too far off to believe they’re radicalized soldiers from a terroristic freedom faction. But the anime does good to show that they are in fact in the right.
It reels you in, and paints an even broader picture. That propaganda from the government machine can sway how we view the world. Im not sure of another anime that has ever done this, sway the watcher into actually liking the protagonist after complicity stating they’re the bad guys. Not this intricately atleast. You have to come there at your own whim.
Treize is one of the most effective and charming villains I have ever seen in any anime. He might be one of the most memorable i have ever seen.
Due to the pseudo realistic nature of this anime, this makes his character seem even more real to me. Im not so certain a treize like figure never existed or will exist in our own reality. His character is similar to napoleon, classy, charismatic, and crushingly militaristic, which is what makes him so great.
You need to watch this anime. This is mandatory.

Goku midnight eye is that perfect blend of invisioning a distance future and blending it with stories from the past.
Goku, the main character takes after the mythic legend of Wukong, the monkey king, with magical powers like a god and a magical staff that grows and shrinks at his whim.
This would seem “dorky” for some, maybe. A staff in an action anime where everyone has advanced robot limbs and guns? Why not just…use a gun?
Well, he does! But it’s proven to be ineffective to the monstrous cyborgs he faces in this anime.
The staff is given to him, aswell as his eye, which grants
...
him power over machines.
In an 80s cyberpunk imagined future of 2014, where technology is so advanced and rules over humanity, this gives him god like powers. However it develops the character and proves his humility and elevated morality, as he only uses it to complete his objectives; taking down evil.
It’s really well done. The animation is great, the characters are interesting, compelling, and unique. It takes a spin on cyberpunk that is different than what is usually told. And the 80s imagined cyberpunk aesthetic is truly to die for.
Imagine having 80s cyberpunk cars instead of round, ugly, Cars that are a dime a dozen and all look the same like the future we got?
There’s frills of buttons all over, even in the car.
Interestingly enough I even saw a gps display in the cars center similar to what cars have now, so, it’s not far off. Maybe, in some form of divination from the author, that was the future we were supposed to get?
I will admit, gokus clothes are dumb, he’s shirtless with a tie, and wears a black coat with wrist bands. Extremely dumb. What makes it worse, is he loses his jacket to reveal he is actually wearing a vest underneath his jacket that is just incredibly revealing, he’s not actually shirtless underneath the jacket. His hair voice face and body are amazing though!
Other than that, gokus character is awesome! He’s pretty much spike spiegel to a tee, and I can’t help but notice and place a finger on how the character himself has the same English voice actor as spike. Other VAs from cowboy bebop make an appearance as well, such as Faye, and even Jin’s English VA from samurai champloo plays the main villain. It’s totally fitting, the voices were craftfully selected. It can’t help but make me wonder if this anime was an inspiration for cowboy bebop itself. But that might be a stretch since it’s just the English VAs.
Anyways, I would recommend this! It’s 80s, it’s amazing, and you will be left wanting more.
The character plot of Goku is NOT answered in this one, but rather, it’s sequel! And automatically, you will be watching the sequel because of how effective it is.

I’m really not sure how so many people like Baki.
It’s one of the ugliest anime’s I have ever seen in my entire life.
The story is ok, the characters are weird, which is usually fine.
But damn. It’s a little too weird. The villains are OP. The dialogue is pretty bad. The set pieces suck.
The only thing to really watch this for is for gore, and if you’re like some gym tiktoker who likes anime and want someone to model your body after. It’s really not interesting, or enjoyable beyond going like “oooh!” “Geeeez!” “Oof, wow!”
It’s like. A dumb. Jock anime. To watch
...
with your dumb jock friends to see people fight and have reactions to the gore.
It’s truly a mediocre anime for mediocre NPCs.

What can I say. The anime that got me into anime.
I was a teenage boy at the time and Microsoft had this series for purchase on the Xbox 360 store. The poster for it was some really lewd bikini shot of one of the female characters of the show.
Being a horny teenage boy at the time, I had to buy it, the character designs were right up my alley.
It’s funny.
The moment I watched this is the moment I realized how genius that marketing is.
The main character, sato, is a horny, perverted young male, so it’s like, the marketing team knew exactly how to draw
...
in their audience, and then hit them with reality.
Sato struggles with deep depression and suicidal thoughts, and staying inside as a neet.
As a teenage kid, playing mostly video games, and was basically forced inside because of an overbearing mother, and her bad choices that led us being moved around all over. So I didn’t have many friends. The family she would move us in and out with constantly, constantly getting “divorced” to the father of this family with two kids, were extremely abusive and toxic. This abuse started young for me, like 6 years old. I’m talking psychological torture. Physical abuse. Somehow this wasn’t enough to stop my mother from continuing a relationship with this man and staying with his family.
This kind of abuse led me to being a “homebody” or a “neet” with extreme trust issues. Much like the main character sato.
In the anime, sato doesn’t really have an explanation for why he is the way he is, but I think that works for the story not against it so the watcher can fill in and project themselves onto the character. Which I did end up doing.
You see, Sato is a character I relate to and understand 100% completely.
There’s some things that he does that are even a little too extreme for me, but at the same time, I understand, and have been drawn to such extreme desperation as well going into my later teen and adult years.
this anime is truly something different. I don’t think there’s anything like it. I think it’s one of the most effective pieces of art, not just media, that have conveyed a reality that not many like to talk about, and that is, how do we address the dredges of society? The people we lock away, isolate, make fun of, ostracize, demonize. How do these people live in a society that’s not meant for them?
If you have struggled with depression, whether as a man or or a woman, this anime shows both sides of that, (though the manga has a better ending for the characters) please watch this anime.
Chris Patton, my childhood mentor and friend, is the English voice actor for Sato, so of course I loved it immediately. I actually found out that he was years later. That being said, the voice cast for the English dub is amazing and they completely convey all of the deep emotions necessary for the watcher to grasp deeply in their soul what those characters are feeling.
It’s a powerful anime and an effective anime. It’s one of my favorite anime of all time. I felt real emotions pulled out of me from watching this anime and a young teen.
That being said, would I watch it again? No. Atleast, not for a looooong time. A time where I would want to reflect at look back at my childhood. No. Once is enough for me.
Thank you.

This is a pretty legendary anime. I actually knew one of the voice actors, Chris Patton growing up, who is awesome, and my hero. He is genuinely a great dude by the way, would give me advice about life and was like a friend. So please cherish him forever.
Anyways, I gave this anime a watch, I heard such great things about it, and I’m all for anti PC, especially these days of our post 2020 world. And my god. Does this anime deliver!
I’m 29, so I get a lot of the references but even then I was kind of struggling with some of them. I
...
would think it’s probably suited more for people in their 30s, probably 30s and 40s. still I got a lot of it and I thought it was fucking hilarious. It’s Lewd, it’s ludacris, it’s a ton of fun. It’s a very addicting anime to finish and watch but at the same time they were kind of trying to make it an anime worth watching. I think if they didn’t go the route that they did and they were faithful to this anime’s sub, which I don’t know , how the sub is but I can say if this was like a genuinely serious anime I would never watch it. It’s for fucking kids, like, children; but, they somehow made it into an adult / teenager anime that is timeless and that in itself is fucking genius.
I was struggling at times because the anime itself is very hard to get through. The characters are fucking dumbasses and their actions just don’t make sense or lineup to how they would react to all of the shit they’ve been through in the past, but the funny thing is that the voice actors noticed this and quip on that and call it out so you will laugh with the voice actors, and I think that’s great. I definitely recommend this anime. But there’s a reason I rate it 8 out of 10.
Now the character designs and the characters themselves are awesome. I love Satsuki . She’s my favorite. She’s super hot. And they deliver on that with fan service too. I just think that the story and the plot is so fucking hard to get through sometimes cause it’s like a fucking Scooby-Doo plot, but it’s like genuine horror, and it’s not a big turn on for me , if the funny factor wasn’t there I would never watch this.
Also the ending is hilariously bad on purpose.

“Fuck AND PISS!!!”
Yes it’s 80s as hell, but actually in a good way. Makes you want to go back, similar to 80s jojo in design.
It’s actually really deep and right up my alley in terms of conspiracy anime’s.
Im pretty sure the only reason this anime got such low scores is because it hurt tankies / commies little feelings. Commies are the antagonists funded by capitalist oligarchs. Which, I mean, if we look at today’s western society, is it too far off? Biden/clinton/corporations funding Antifa?
It brutally fulfills the gore factor, it soaks us in it.
A lot of characters get attention, and the titular “angel cop” the
...
anime is named after actually shares the same amount of screen time as supporting characters, so we share mulitple protagonists, which also fulfills the character development area, instead of this being some cheesy, one sided perspective, quippy anime, which DEFINITELY wouldn’t work, and which the reviews would have you believe.
Yes there are quips, but they’re 80s quips, so they’re fucking awesome. And it’s sparse, and gratifying when it is there.
In the first episode a fucking woman gets her head blown literally into bits. It does not hold back.
There’s also titties, so, awesome (even if the Segway into them is not so awesome)
This anime does something interesting I noticed, it takes the lead male protagonist and switches it up and kind of tricks the audiences into thinking OK this will be our protagonist when in fact, our protagonist comes in at a later date, and the guy who we *thought* would be our protagonist ends up, becoming even more bad ass then the protagonist that ends up being our protagonist. So I thought that was really cool.
I give it a 9. It’s short, quick, and fucks ya real good and leaves ya begging for more. Like a cool 80s lover. If angel cop was a lover, it would definitely be a rememberable sexual experience.
