Genuinely a fun watch, not much to think about or lore to get engrossed in but I can honestly say it was just fun! This anime somehow captured the art style, energy and feel of an early 2010's seasonal battle anime, especially the intro. I watched it over 4 days and loved every minute. It was well paced, light hearted at times and serious at others. If you are looking for a fun isekai to sit back and relax to this show has you covered! If you are looking for something similar to Akame ga Kill (HEAR ME OUT) or other shows that came out
...
around that time this one is great! I bring up this point because it really does feel like a show that would have come out almost ten years ago (In a good way!) the characters were fun to watch interact, had heartfelt conversations that never felt forced and really made them seem like they were training to help the kingdom that summoned them. They aren't given godlike abilities at all. They have some rare powers sure but not so rare you could call them busted or on any kind of crutch, even at the end of the season you can still tell they have a while to go. Quick note, there is 0 fan service in this anime. So if you are tired of seeing that kind of stuff then this show is a perfect pick!
This anime does everything right. The main story and overall story is interesting (nothing new but the stakes feel more real than in other shows because of the well done power-balancing); the characters all feel unique enough to be their own but not SO unique that they seem overbearing; it is both funny and cool as there is a lot of banter between characters but also some intense fights to keep the story grounded and remind the watcher of the stakes at hand. It's honestly hard to find an actual flaw in anything it has to offer. All of this being said it does feel almost too easy to enjoy. I want to put it at a 9 but cannot justify it being that high, It's very good and I hope it gets a second season. That being said its not the most fulfilling watch, i want more but i can justify waiting for another season. Only after hearing no news would I consider reading the source material. It's like I'm expecting a 1 2 punch and the 2 never comes, but boy was the 1 a clean hit!
TL;DR Good watch that reminded me of the mid 2010's battle anime, I had fun and want more but this isn't a must see. Also 0 fanservice :D
Story: 8/10
Art: 7/10 (MC's battle outfit is dope, other characters also have cool armor but they dont wear them much)

Pacing: 10/10
(opening 8/10 partial points for invoking nostalgia)

This anime is a very casual experience with a little something for everyone, there is some slice of life elements, some cool battles and memorable heartfelt characters that give off the energy real people would. Most named characters in Sousou no Frieren feel like complex characters akin to people. Once they have been introduced characters seem simple but usually give off the energy of main characters. They all seem like real people with real thoughts and emotions, people you'd like to actually have conversations with and go on a journey of your own. Enough gushing about the character writing though.
Sousou no Frieren is a story
...
that reminds us to cherish the friends and people we meet in life, because you never know when you will be saying goodbye forever. Honestly the first few episodes had me tearing up personally from how real the emotional weight Frieren seems to bear. That is not to say the story is genuinely intense in any way, you could binge this or watch an episode sporadically for a month or so, the themes are somewhat understated. There are some cliffhanger episodes but for the most part it is very easy to casually enjoy Frieren. This anime is not for everyone, to sort of quote something from the show itself it takes place in an era of peace. People do use magic to fight, but they also use it for casual things like making a field of flowers or to perfectly wash laundry. It is a tool to be used at your discretion. It is not a shounen in any way, when someone threatens to kill someone it doesn't feel like a typical line, it feels like a genuine threat you are meant to take with real caution because it doesn't happen lightly. Though it isn't necessarily a seinen either, there isnt really a lot of dark themes or moments meant to shock or disgust. It is a mature story that some people might find a little boring overall but I do not give it a 10 lightly. It really is a very well rounded story, grounded in a sense of reality with mature themes that are akin to something you'd read in a memoir/autobiography.
Sousou no Frieren's uniqueness is in its fresh take on an old story and how it seamlessly flows as a story of someone with such an incredible lifespan as an elf. Coupled with a refreshing story on taking time to smell the roses and cherish the time you have both with yourself and other people. Also it has a BANGER ending theme song, listened to it on a weekly basis for 6 months. Beautiful song with plot relevancy, excellent scoring and animations to go along with it.

Touch! is the perfect Sports-Drama anime probably ever. Full of memorable characters, fantastic writing and great (if not typical) hype sports anime moments.
I'll start this off with a warning, the majority of the first quarter of the show is Drama, but it's the kind of drama that doesn't seem forced whatsoever. It comes as an organic result of the characters and what drives each of them. It's a very human story about 3 friends and baseball and what it means to each of them. once a certain character enters the baseball field it very quickly becomes 85% about the sport
The strengths of Touch!:
-Most major characters
...
are written intelligently and only add to the story. Even characters that seem annoying or totally dislikable eventually grow on you and come to be a well rounded part of the story you can't really see it the same without them.
-The drama is mostly well thought out and reasonable where you won't often think once it's over "that wasn't necessary" as is common in poorly written dramas.
-Usually I'm all over soundtracks and this isn't an exception, 3 of the opening themes are very good and 2 of the ending themes are good (even the background music can have you toe-tapping if you like older music).
-Touch's story is fantastic, as previously stated the drama is good. The sports aspect of it matches that quality perfectly. Plenty of nail biters for not just people who are into sports, some of the matches and events actually have real effects on the characters inside and outside of the field (which really helps the dynamic feel of the story).
The unfortunate weaknesses of Touch!:
-I'll be real, this show is older than Dragonball (it starts before it but ended after DB's first year). The art is VERY dated, the more high octane moments get a quality boost of course but thats not the part that didn't age well; It's the character designs. I personally love older shows and don't mind this usually but some of the character designs don't age well at all (though at the time they honestly weren't that bad).
-There are 2 plot points in the show that do take a little bit longer than they probably needed to to finish up, this being said it's not like it takes 10 episodes to finish something that could have ended reasonably in 5-6. These issues take 3 episodes to finish when they could have done it quickly in 1 and thoroughly in 2 (something that newer shows REALLY need to learn from)
-Lastly, the very last episode is a little ambiguous in its conclusion, HOWEVER, the 2 movies made after that give it a proper conclusion and really do give it as close to a perfect ending it can get. Thankfully neither of those movies have any of the weaknesses I listed here. It's still of course an older movie but the budget must've been quintupled because the movies look 10x better and aged much better (again, keeping in mind the age). And if anything the movies have the opposite problem of trying to speed things along.
In conclusion: Touch! is undoubtedly one of the best sports anime out there in terms of general quality, while not being the greatest in terms of strictly sports content. If I had to rate the 2 aspects separately I'd say I would rank it 9/10 in terms of drama (in field drama included) and a 8/10 in terms of sports (in field drama included, without the in field drama probably a 7 but let's be honest who doesn't enjoy rivalries and personal connections with other teams). If you can get past the outdated art style and really finish it (including the movies) you will easily come to agree that Touch! is a genuinely great sports series that needs to be talked about more.

If you finished Touch! you definitely need to watch this and the sequel Cross Road (Kaze no Yukue) as they are honestly the true endings to the show and help clear up the fairly ambiguous ending to the original series.
I'm gonna start off with saying that if you were expecting a lot of baseball in this you will be a LITTLE disappointed as Tatsuya doesn't so much as enter the field (except flashbacks to the koshien games) for plot reasons, BUT, this is honestly fine as it's explained in the movie why he stops playing baseball (don't get too upset, the sequel movie is 80%
...
baseball and makes up for this). To make up for this you do get some updates on the Nitta's and Nishimura and even get to see Nishimura play pro league.
The story is mostly centered around Tatsuya and Minami having some struggles in their relationship as we all know by now is caused by their shared stubbornness with basic communication skills. You get updates on a lot of side characters thankfully, Harada especially gets a glow up. There is one new character who is fairly interesting but kind of falls flat as she is basically just a plot device, albeit a fairly good one. I don't want to spoil it at all but I will also warn that the pacing is a little lacking, I put this note in my review of Cross Road but these movies really seem more fit to be actual sequel seasons as they have enough content to be stretched out to probably 13 episodes per movie/plotline.
All in all if you thought Touch! was even a 6/10 it would not at all be a waste of time to check out both of these movies as they only add to the general story and give you some more of what made Touch! special. Just keep in mind the stories for both movies do go by quickly and don't allow for much development outside of pre-established characters.

Before you watch this make sure to watch Miss Lonely Yesterday, it's basically the part 2 to that. I liked both movies as each one really goes over the individual aspects of touch.MLY was mostly the drama of the old show with some baseball thrown in there. Cross Road is mostly the baseball of the old show with some drama thrown in there.
The story is good and everything is pretty standard so I can't really give it more than a 7 as it does its job of being a more drawn out conclusion to the general story of touch, HOWEVER, I feel that both
...
MLY and Cross Road would have been better as full on seasons. With time to draw out more content and make things feel less rushed both story lines really could have left Touch! as a champion of baseball and probably sports anime in general. Instead you get two sequel movies with way too fast pacing that feel akin to Disney straight to DVD sequels. I definitely feel that both movies are a must watch for people who finished Touch and they are solid movies that don't belittle or tarnish the original story or characters (something that can happen all too easily in other late entries to established franchises).

Getting the bad news out of the way you will only enjoy this if you absolutely love every social part of the show. It has almost none of the wit, political drama-esque moments or new (canon for the original series) lore. Every new piece of lore doesn't line up with the original show, they change the rules for "code" and "geass" just so Lelouch can be a badass. Because Shirley DID NOT die in the movies so she is still alive and kicking so people who like her can rejoice (more on that later).
This movie is probably a good enough sequel to the movies that
...
were made to shorten the watch time of the show. However that does not mean it holds up well as a sequel to the series in actuality. I feel like the movies were only made as cash grabs/a last ditch effort to monetize a beloved and well received series that was starting to fade into the background of the modern anime scene. The show was well paced and had a very sad but satisfying ending 12 years ago, but I feel like all the movies have done was make a mockery of the original. The original series seemed like it actually mastered mixing a bit of filler in with genuinely important parts of the show to make you more attached to the characters while also moving the plot. I know people called her annoying and not everyone was a fan of the highschool moments the show had, but Shirley's death was huge and all the time we spend with the student council is there so you can get attached to these characters. I'm more sympathetic than most but when Rolo killed Shirley I was devastated, it sounds stupid but I actually lost a bit of sleep over it once Suzaku tried to convince Kallen that Lelouch killed her (I just kind of laid there thinking about how devastating it was for Lelouch and Kallen and how much it must've destroyed kallen to hear that Lelouch SUPPOSEDLY did it but thats also what I get for drinking coffee and then watching that and trying to sleep afterward).
SHIRLEY"S DEATH WAS IMPACTFUL GODDAMMIT
I didn't think I could be this disappointed at something with CODE GEASS in the title, but then they tried to make it so Lelouch was immortal AND still had his geass. I immediately lowered my expectations for this movie after that, and again when Shirley was found to be still kicking. I am not usually one for pointing out plotholes or looking too critically at movies, but when you make a direct sequel to something that has been known as a great series and then change a fundamental part of the original work's lore, You have no right to make a sequel series. They literally had an opportunity to show exactly how brilliant Lelouch was, they could have had him and the gang defeat the enemy without even needing a geass but instead nope they just toss aside a basic rule of "geass" and "code" just to make the already incredibly impressive MC be untouchable. I am only giving it something besides a 1 or a 2 because It let us peak into what is the closest thing we currently have to an epilogue and because I enjoyed the last scene with Lelouch and C2 or should I say L2 and C2?

This is the most meta harem show of all time. The main character is a Light Yagami level genius of manipulation, who throughout the show manipulates every interaction that another character didn't manipulate him into manipulating (sorry for the headache). Almost every episode has a great cliffhanger.
The ending is damn near perfect in every which way (with a god tier Urusei Yatsura reference only the most elite of anime watchers will understand). Its worth noting the ending is a 45 minute special that is worth watching to say the least. I am so over the moon on how the show ended, but just like the
...
moon I have two opinions on the end. I love it because of the god tier reference to a legendary show, and the hilarity that comes from it; but also dislike it due to the fact the main heroines are all a little disappointed. I was personally voting for newspaper girl, main girl and the tsundere though i knew it wouldn't happen.
It has surprisingly good art for a show of this caliber with some really fun characters who are predictable but still endearing.
This show will always be in my heart because of the amazing cliffhangers it kept throwing at me and, I cannot stress this enough, the madlad reference/general ending to the show.
also worth noting for those who are into vintage anime this show references Urusei Yatsura and Touch! (probs more i didn't catch) which will always make me extremely happy and fond of this show.

When I say I trudged through this show I mean I WWI trench trudged through this show. The characters and most of their designs are great, and they have personalities to match. However, those two things are basically the only good points the show actually has. the animation has whole episodes where characters go off model or have just laughably bad facial structures (if you actually watch the show look out for episode 16, absolutely abhorrent art). the music and sound is ok (except for the OP, As I never once skipped it, straight banger) all the music was meh with them recycling the same
...
EXACT subpar music for every fight or serious moment. Finally the plot. spare yourself the trouble please it is so mind numbingly boring. At first it feels like If Han Solo got his own tv show with a mysterious treasure hunt type story with a mysterious girl being the only link to said treasure. Until you get about 7 episodes in and they literally start to do everything BUT go towards the treasure. Its almost funny how the characters literally have to be forced to actually go after this treasure via plot devices. the majority of the show feels akin to filler as most episodes do tie into the plot AT THE MOST BASIC LEVEL with forcing the cast to fight pointless battles that are forgettable save one. The show also can't seem to decide if it is a spaceship show or a space cowboy type thing as they have this super cool ship whose name gets mentioned at least 3 times every episode, but i think it has like a grand total of 4 fights out of 26 episodes. It also has a lukewarm ending. Everyone is left literally right where they left off which is ok in most stories but for all of the build up done in this story just feels like a waste. It took me off and on watching for nearly 3 months to (as I said earlier) TRUDGE through the snail's pace plot developments. Seriously, only watch this if you enjoy watching old shows like I do or if someone recommended it as they may be able to see what I can't. As of right now it has a rating of 7.8.... How? I have no idea.

10 cm apart is probably one of my favorite romance series ever.... and i've seen a lot of them. The characters are well designed and believable, but the true worth is in their interactions. They feel like genuine people trying to navigate high school relationships, that being said its not super in depth with the other characters besides the two main ones but it still holds up. The real reason I started this review was just so I can have it on record how much I absolutely ADORE the ED for this anime. Don't get me wrong the OP is ok, but the ending theme
...
is my favorite ED of all time, I literally cannot watch it without wanting to tear up. Please watch this even if its just to see what this amazing ed is.
