Have you ever met someone who is so astoundingly good at something it makes you feel like you'll never succeed? Some people feel depressed at this point and just give up, this is exactly how you fail. You need to take that feeling and use it as motivation to get better and achieve your dreams! You'll never be able to succeed if you give up the moment someone better than you shows up, there will always be someone better, you just have to face it head-on and give it your best. *//End my pretending to be a life counselor*
Pet Kanojo is an anime that focuses
...
on a boy named Sorata Kanda and his trials in a dorm called Sakura-Sou, whether it be romantic, school, family, work, or just every problems. Sakura-Sou is a place where problem children from Suimei High reside, it has low rent and virtually no rules. Although, Sorata isn't a problem child, he just can't bear to lose his cat without giving it an owner. Thus, our story begins.
Now for you hardcore romance fans out there, like me, you are probably wondering, how far could the romance possibly progress in a setting such as this? And honestly, not as far as we would like, but that goes for many rom-com animes. But if you enjoy a good romance/comedy like I do, then you'll still enjoy this anime very much.
Now onto my specific review points.
Story 9/10
I really enjoy anime that have new and interesting story ideas, Pet Kanojo being one of them. It's not your typical romance, comedy, drama type anime, it has a lot more around it. It deals with large problems. Such as someone being so amazing at something they put everyone around them down. This story has much more than just that, but that is a big part of it. It also deals with romance, drama, and of course, hilarious comedy! There are little things in the background in some scenes you will have to rewind in order to make sure you saw it, they are absolutely hilarious.
Art 10/10
The art in this anime was fantastic. it was detailed, colorful, fluent, and symmetrical. The backgrounds had lots of detail and color, which is always nice to see. The characters were very well drawn and symmetrical, whether it be them talking, moving, or just their general art.
Sound 9/10
The sound in this anime was really nice as well. The voice actors all matched up to their characters nicely. Specially Mashiro's voice actor, that was a great match. All of the OP and ED songs were also very enjoyable. I actually found myself listening to the second ED song quite a bit, it was a catchy song :)
Character. 9/10
They did a very good job on portraying these characters. Also, they had a good background to each main character, which is always a treat. That allows you to really get sucked into this anime. I for one can't stand an anime with no background on characters or lacking background, I like to sympathize with the characters or sometimes even relate to them. So for the characters I think they did a very good job on allowing the audience to get to know them.
Enjoyment 10/10
I thoroughly enjoyed this anime, whether it be comedy, romance, or the SoL part. The comedy was absolutely amazing. The little things killed me, like hearing what someone said in the background or some random persons face during a scene. The romance did not progress as much as I wanted it to, but I can say that about most rom-com anime I have watched. It was also nice to see the little bit of SoL in it Them living their lives during their high school days and planning their future.
Overall 9/10
I don't like to give 10's on a review unless the anime was truly amazing and had everything I like perfectly done. Not that this anime isn't amazing, it definitely is, but for the there were just a couple things I wish were done a little more, but I completely understand the reason they ended the romance the way they did, they want to try and apply to all demos and make sure they can grab the largest audience possible, which I would do the same if I were in their shoes. So overall I really loved this anime and found it to be a pleasure to watch through and through, so I definitely recommend this to any comedy/romance lovers out there! So I'll end it here, thanks for reading! Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated! but for now, I think I'm going to go try and find a Sakura-Sou for myself >.>

So Mondaiji is a story that follows 3 problem children from different places around the world. All of these kids have special powers that they are able to use. One day they receive a letter that comes out of no-where. They have no idea who sent the letter or how it got there, but the letter talks about needing their power, and this is where the story begins.
After these events it follows how these children deal with the problems they face in the new world they were sent to, encountering many strange people/beings a long the way. It was a really enjoyable story, I
...
especially liked the fact that all of the kids had very powerful abilities. Izayoi being the strongest one by far. You can't go wrong with a super powerful cocky main can you? :p
I did feel that they could have done a lot more with this than just the 10 episodes, but the ending seemed to have more to be told, so hopefully that might be a sign for a possible second season! Now on to my specific review points.
Story 8/10
Now this may not be the most original story-line, but it did have many redeeming factors. In this world they can have a better life where they use their powers and want to stay. Also, they play things called gift games, which is a pretty interesting thing. It only has 10 episodes and 1 ova, which was kind of disappointing, but the way it ended seemed open, so maybe a season 2? c:
Art 9/10
The art was really well done. There was a lot of detail in the background images, which made for a really nice looking anime overall. The characters looked awesome as well, and the battle scenes were pretty nicely done. I really don't have any complaints on the art.
Sound 8/10
The sound was pretty good, the battle scenes had some pretty nice effect sounds, which was nice to see. The voice actors seemed to match very well to each of the characters.
Character 7/10
They did not go into the past of each main all that much. They described their situation to some extent during the time-frame right before they left their world, but they didn't go into their pasts or how they got their powers. Other than the fact they didn't give much back-story on any of the characters, I believe all the mains were all pretty likable.
Enjoyment 9/10
This anime for me was pretty much everything I love. A new world, Super Powerful Mains, different types of beings, and action! It was cool to see how they went on dealing with all of the conflicts in this new world. Also, I really loved the action scenes with Izayoi, he is just too badass.
Overall 8/10
If you are a fan of action this is definitely a must watch. It has a pretty cool story behind it as well. I wish they would have added more episodes, but it was still a great anime. I'm just hoping for a season 2. Non-the-less, this is one of my favorite anime, if you like action and powerful main characters, this a great anime for you!

Rec is an anime I did not have high hopes for, I figured since it was so short, it would be super rushed and not have a lot of backstory, although it was somewhat rushed at the beginning, I feel the progression worked very well. There are 10 episodes in total that are about 12 mins each, I enjoyed the length of this anime because it was short and to the point, and quite heartwarming. Definitely a must watch for you Romance lovers out there.
This story begins with Matsumaru waiting for his date at the movie theater, however, his date is a no-show, just when
...
he is about to give up on his date and throw away the tickets, Aka comes in to save the day! So they go to watch the movie together. Later on, a huge fire occurs, and her place is burned down, this is where Matsumaru comes in to save the day, he offers for her to stay at his place, and this my friends, is where the story begins.
Story 8/10
Even though the anime was fairly short with only 10 episodes that were 12 minutes each, it was a nice progression of the romance between the two. They were able to depict the working situation of both Aka and Matsumaru, and how they played a role in them becoming closer. The romance slowly starts to grow as they are living and working together, and of course, comes conflicts that they must overcome together. I also liked the fact I had not seen many anime with this type of story. The character following their dreams of becoming a voice actor, while also finding that special someone.
Art 6/10
The art was not anything special, but that is to be expected from a short anime from 2006. They did do a pretty good job on the main character designs, but the background details at times did have some lacking attributes, but as I said, it is a short anime.
Sound 7/10
The sounds were not really all that important in this anime, so they were alright, nothing great, nothing bad. The voice acting was done pretty well, Aka's voice actor matched perfect.
Character 7/10
They did not go into the past of either of the two, such as family or schools or anything, but they did a good job of portraying their feelings about situations, and also their goals in life. The supporting characters did not get much at all, but being that the anime is so short, that's understandable.
Enjoyment 9/10
I really enjoyed this anime. The shortness was something I actually enjoyed, it allowed me to see how they progressed romantically without wasting time on pointless side-story as in some anime. It was a really nice romance between the two, and to see it all come together was a real treat.
Overall 8/10
The reason for this 8 is the pure enjoyment I had seeing the romance in this anime. The story was great, I liked how they showed what the both of them went through in their work lives, and how that played a part in their romance, and vise versa. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of romance, and who doesn't mind it being short and sweet.

The synopsis for this anime really does it no justice, there is much more going on then them just searching for relics. Honestly, the relic searching did not really last all that long. One thing that stood out to me in this anime is it was actually very funny, there should have been a comedy genre added, however, comedy was not the only thing that caught my attention.
The premise of the story could seem a bit cliche, there are quite a few other anime where the main has an incredible power and has to overcome the effects of a past that held
...
many hardships due to this power, but nonetheless this anime was still pretty great. It was enjoyable to see the hardships that Ryner had endured throughout his life and how he was able to overcome them. Also, they put quite a bit of back story on the other characters, such as Sion and Ferris, which was nice to see. That backstory adds a better connection to the characters as they face the conflicts together. Now onto my specific review points.
Story 8/10
As I stated above, it does seem at first glance to be a cliche of sorts, but the synopsis is quite under-developed. There is more than just them searching for relics, much of it is based on the power that Ryner has and the hardships that came and are to come from it. Also, the comical parts in this story were quite enjoyable as well, whether it be the constant whining or witty remarks of Ryner about his naps, or Ferris' constant belittling of Ryner with her large imagination of perversion.
Art 7/10
The art was not anything spectacular, although it was well done and they did not use many shortcuts. They had a good amount of detail as well. The gore scenes usually had some sort of shade above them not making them easy to see, but it was still good drawn overall.
Sound 7/10
The sound was ok. Nothing really struck me as really bad, or really good, it matched fine, but it did lack in some respects. The English voice acting was pretty good, the main characters seemed to match well with the voice actors. I have no speculation on the Japanese voice actors, as I have not watched the subbed.
Character 8/10
I liked the fact they gave lots of back-ground information on the other main characters and didn't just focus of Ryner. The flash backs and the information on Ryner was very tragic and gave a lot of meaning to the story.
Enjoyment 9/10
The story was great. I loved the way the characters were portayed, being that Ryner is a lazy guy that has witty remarks, and Ferris having the very funny imagination. The comedy in this anime was very funny, even though there was not a comedy tag. Also, being that Ryner was so powerful, it was cool to see how he progressed with his power, and how he gave it meaning.
Overall 8/10
I really enjoyed this anime. There were many aspects I did not plan to see, such as the comedy, and the small amount of romance. Many people may see it as cliche and boring, but the synopsis really does it no justice. So give this anime a try, and maybe you too, will find it to be a great watch.

If you are reading this review, then most likely you have seen the first season and gotten used to the high amount of panty shots/boobs. That being said, I'm going to jump right into the review of this boob-filled wonderland that we call High School DxD.
Story 9/10
Most harem anime have little to no story, however, High School DxD is the exception to that rule. The story that it has is a genuinely good one. In this season there is a lot of focus on characters other than Issei. A few of the episodes go into Kiba's past and how he was reborn as a
...
devil, and also some very intriguing things about Akeno. It also introduces two new characters, Irina and Xenovia. This season introduces quite a few new characters that will play a part in future conflicts. However, there is still enough of Issei to go around. Whether it be him dealing with chicks, or fighting with his Sacred Gear.
Art 8/10
The art in season 2 is definitely superior to the first season, they pay a lot more attention to details. However, they still do put a lot of emphasis on boobs/panties, but that is to be expected. Overall I found the art to be very well done and detailed.
Sound 9/10
The music for this season was awesome. And the voice acting was beautiful, what stuck out to me the most was Akeno's voice. They could not have picked a better person to voice her, it was cute and yet seductive at the same time. The other voice actors did a good job as well, such as Issei when he is raging or in full perv-mode. The emotion in the actors voices were very real and refreshing.
Character 9/10
They went quite in-depth for the characters surrounding Issei. They gave quite a bit of information regarding Kiba, Akeno, Irina, and Xenovia, as well as other supporting characters. It made those characters that much more likable.
Enjoyment 10/10
I thoroughly enjoyed High School DxD New and can't wait for another season! There isn't much to not like in this show, it gives you the action of Issei kickin' ass, and all the Ecchi you could ask for.
Overall 10/10
This is definitely one of my all-time favorite anime. It has the Ecchi/harem I was looking for, and tops it all off with a powerful yet comical main character. Plus, their storyline isn't full of cliche's like most Ecchi/Harem type anime, which gave it a unique and more enjoyable feel to it.

Although this would look to be the normal cliche type rom/com, it was actually pretty enjoyable with a few different aspects to it. Instead of the male protagonist having to protect the female protagonist, misaki can actually hold her own in most situations, and then usui would come and talk to her about it. The comedy in this story was actually pretty funny, either it be usui messing with misaki about stalking her, or misaki always being super serious and whatnot. I very much enjoy this anime, the romance that progresses through the story is really heartwarming, but at times can be a little sad/wobbly.
...
So now with the review stuffs.
Story 8/10
Although the base of the story does look to be some sort of cliche, the way they portrayed it was very nice. The romance slowly grows while they go through their daily routines, with a good amount of comical relief.
Art 8/10
The art in this anime was pretty nice as well, whether it be a serious scene, or them drawing a dude that just got thrown out of a window.
Sound 8/10
The sound was pretty clear for the anime, and the japanese voice acting matched the characters very well. However, the english dub I tried to watch sounded pretty bad, the mics were really hot, and the characters did not match up at all. The sound for the english dub was terribly recorded, I don't know if it was the mics they were using or what, I just stuck with the subbed.
Character 8/10
The characters in this anime were fairly well developed, there was always something going on with a supporting character, rather than only focusing on the mains 100% of the time.
Enjoyment 9/10
I really enjoy this anime, whether it be the comedy or the romance, it seems to catch my attention. The way the comedy mixed in with the romance was pretty fitting for the characters. Not to mention the way usui and misaki are always in some sort of conflict, and then it comes to a romantic scene that usually has some comedy aspects in it. Also, being that Misaki is a tsundere, it was nice to see how her feelings played out and the way Usui helped her out.
Overall I found this to be a really good anime. Although there are some cliche scenes, that is to be expected from a rom/com in most cases. I still found this to be a funny/heartwarming storyline that was kept me drawn to it. I highly recommend this anime to anyone who likes a good rom/com.

Many people didn't like the fact the story didn't follow the manga, and didn't have much of a point. There were quite a few episodes of random nothing-ness that had really nothing to do with the plot, but they still had their comedy/romance aspects that kept you watching.
Story 6/10
The story wasn't really that developed in either of the seasons, I wish they would have gotten a bit more in depth with Tsukune and his new vampire powers. It was still a hilarious storyline, I didn't mind all that much
Art 9/10
I really liked the art style in this anime. The characters looked nicely drawn and symmetrical.
...
Sound 8/10
The sound effects were pretty nice, I didn't expect much from them since it was going to be a comedy/harem type deal. However, the english voice acting was spot-on. You can't go wrong with good ol' Haberkorn as a main :D The song in the second season was pretty beastly, I dug the bass line in the disco song very much.
Character 8/10
The characters were all pretty likable and had different traits. Specially the girls HUEHUE.
Enjoyment 9/10
I really liked watching this anime even though there were a bunch of random episodes. These types of anime don't exactly need a good story-line to be likable, but it would help.
Overall 9/10
This was a really good 2 season anime. Even though a lot of people dissed it because of the story-line not matching the manga and all that, I still liked the comedy/harem aspect of it.
Thanks for reading this review! first of many to come C:
