*CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS*
I will remember this anime forever, because of the clusterfuck at the end, where shit hits the fan, and where everyone gets their just deserts. Insane ending. Bruh...
Makoto, the protagonist, is a sex-addicted teenager who thinks with his penis. His dong has complete control over his life, overriding sensible decisions. Shag first, and think later seems to be his mantra. And, oh boy, his dong is a liability... The repercussions are immense.
Playboy Makoto gets involved with a slew of girls towards the end, a bunch of nymphomaniacs, who, for whatever reason, want to ride his dick. Makoto wasn't always like this, but his
...
first sexual encounter unleashed the will of the penis, an insane amount of satyriasis. The clown becomes a hopeless slave to his dong. Towards the end, the legend that is Makoto pretty much shags every girl in his classroom, friends of friends, etc., without a care in the world, while stringing along the two main girls who are in love with him. No idea what all these girls saw in Makoto, but this is one weird school. Girls see it as a privilege to shag the #1 playboy; and, in one festival, I kid you not, these twisted girls even casually record their friends shagging in a secret room. Now all of this is absolutely preposterous. Kids at this age are neither this audacious nor this horny, but it drives the story forward. Also, no school would allow this secret room nonsense. Anyhow, it's anime, and Japan comes up with wild ideas...
Makoto struggles to get into Kotonoha's pants so he opts for easier options, even if those girls are not as curvy. Luckily for Makoto, everyone, with the exception of big-titty girl Kotonoha, seem addicted to sex and are willing to strip for him with little hesitation.
Makoto's thought process, the penis algorithm, is very simple -> Is this person a girl of my age? Good --> Big tits and/or reasonably attractive? Very good --> How much effort do I need to put in to shag her? If a lot, then find next girl --> back to step 1. He is also happy to string along multiple girls, while trying to reassure them that they are the #1.
Sometimes, Makoto feels bad about what he is doing to the main girls. You see some conflict and hints of guilt. It is not quite right to call him a sociopath either, as it is the moronic girls who want to ride his dick despite knowing that he is a pervert who can't help himself (the signs are there). Makoto does make empty promises sometimes to give the girls hope, but this is to avoid hurting their feelings and to ensure that he has constant access to sex. He also slips in some lies if he wants to escape from a clingy girl. Makoto is basically a hopeless idiot, who just wants to shag, while trying not to upset everyone too much. To call him a genius manipulator like Light from Death Note is wrong. The girls are just naïve and equally idiotic.
Out of all females, only Kotonoha's younger sister and her friend seem normal. Everyone else is pretty much batshit crazy. You see, Kotonaha is a nice girl, but she becomes mental towards the end because of Makoto and his shenanigans.
There is one scene which was very odd in this anime. Reserved Kotonoha seems to have shagged Makoto's best mate when she was in a vulnerable state after seeing Makoto fool around at the festival. This makes 0 sense. This girl felt uncomfortable being touched, and yet we are to believe that she got laid in a moment of weakness by a random bloke? LMFAO. What a mess.
The fanservice is annoying. These are high school girls, and there are a lot of panty shots and shiny skin shots. But hey...Anime. Whatever. Teenage viewers might appreciate this. The opening song also has some nudity (not anything too graphic, but you got to remember that these are kids at a school...not adults).
The ending is epic. Playboy Makoto and the two main love interests clash, and let's just say shit turns really dark. Holy shit.
On the surface, this looks like the average harem anime set at a school, but underneath this is a fairly complex story, though not a very believable one. The anime is like a social experiment on teenage love and deviant behavior, but taken to absurd extremes, where lust and temptation lead to catastrophic consequences. This anime is fascinating in the sense that you witness an unfolding train wreck . It's absurd. It's revolting. But you can't take your eyes off the ensuing clusterfuck.
I can see why some people rated this 9-10. Equally, I can see why some people thought this anime was garbage. Either way, the anime elicits a strong response. You will hate almost all of the characters. But at the same time, you want to see what happens to dipshit Makoto, the #1 poon slayer.
Enjoy.

***THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS***
05/04/22 I've dropped one extra point. Can't believe that people have to wait one more year to see the "final" concluding. The anime has overstayed its welcome.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh boy... Hajime Isayama milked the Attack on Titan cash cow dry. The cow is in major pain. The cow is bleeding. In fact, the cow is dead. Fans waited so long to see what would become of the once-legendary anime that had many fans at the edge of their seats back in the days. Was the wait worth it? Did your investment pay off? Absolutely not!
In season one, we watched with bated breath
...
as the titans broke in and changed the lives of Eren and his friends forever. We were shocked, disgusted, and entertained. The mystery drew us in, and the tension was palpable.
Now, the anime has become almost unrecognizable. We now have to accept time travelling and memory alterations, which are apparently key to the entire story. Eren is way too OP now. The power level is not appropriate for this universe, as it makes the anime lose credibility. Just think back to season 1 and ask yourself if Eren's current power fits the tone and atmosphere that season 1 tried to create. It doesn't feel right. It feels as though there are too many dei ex machina, and that the mangaka wrote himself into a corner. Isayama probably never intended for this anime to drag out this long, but the concept brought him a lot of fame and money... And he sadly decided to milk this cash cow down to the last drop, and it shows.
As suspected, angsty edgelord Eren from season one is still diabolical. In fact, he has become unhinged. Now we have a genocidal Hitler 2.0. The anime is laughable at this point. Mikasa is still as garbage as ever and serves no purpose. In fact, Mikasa feels like an NPC. In Part 1, Mikasa felt a bit more interesting, but she is back to being a complete waste of space. "Umi Da!" and "Minna!" Armin is no longer a genius. Armin is just beyond pathetic at this point. Every time I see Armin, I am reminded that AoT died with Erwin. Erwin's demise was probably the turning point for the entire franchise, and thankfully Erwin won't see the unfolding shitshow.
This final season is all over the place, and there is too much exposition and asspulls. All the loose ends are solved with insane magical powers. Eren might as well be a demigod at this point. Everything that happened in previous seasons has become meaningless. It is that bad. Shocking.
Are there any redeeming qualities? The action is decent, and the art is pretty good, in my opinion. But everything else is pretty lame.
Watch this for closure, to see how the once-legendary anime concludes. Isayama gave a giant middle finger to his hardcore fans. The guy managed to spectacularly butcher his story, but I think he was winging it for a while now. The premise of AoT was great, and the world was captivating. But the story is not peak fiction. Forget peak. It nosedived off a cliff with this season. In more capable hands, the story could have been exceptional. But it is time to wake up and face reality.
It is sad to see another anime get butchered by a bad final season.
Tragic.

The movie essentially goes over the the Mugen Train Arc episodes. So if you have seen those episodes already, then you are not missing out much.
As expected, the movie has stellar animation. It takes visuals to another level, though not to a Makoto Shinkai level. Still, your eyes will feast, especially during the adrenaline-rushing fight at the end. The battle soundtracks are pure hype, in particular Rengoku's OST.
Sadly, the movie does not have an amazing story, but the sublime fight at the end makes up a little for the otherwise lackluster story. If you have not fallen in love with Rengoku before
...
the last fight, then you will definitely become a fan by the end.
Most of the characters are clichés, and Zenitsu and Inosuke can be particularly annoying at times, just like in the anime. Indeed, even the great Rengoku in some ways is a cliché, for he reminds us of the good-natured senpais we see in many other anime. Still, Rengoku's character design, background story, fighting style and personality are refreshing. In other words, this movie can really summed up by one word: Rengoku.
Even though the movie has run-of-the-mill villains and a middling story, give it a go for Rengoku. The music complements the action and characters, and the last battle will surely go down as one of anime's best.
Don't expect an amazing story. But if you are here for great action, great visuals and great soundtracks, then you will be entertained. Enjoy.

This is a masterpiece, pure genius. I really enjoyed Odd Taxi, but this one was even a level above that. Holy sheeeet.
The opening and ending songs are dope. The ending, in particular, is great.
The art is unusual, but it works. Some viewers might not like the art, but I dig it.
The best part is the story and the characters. All the main characters are class.
What makes this anime spectacular is the story. Normally, time travelling gets butchered. But this anime has limits and rules. The concept is ingenious. Various stories are interconnected, and the ending will leave you with bated breath. Quite a few
...
episodes end with brilliant cliffhangers, and then that awesome song drops.
Sheesh.
The ending was lit af.
I have a very particular taste. This anime is unlike any I have seen before. If Hollywood were to turn this into a movie or series with actors, it would be an instant hit.
Odd Taxi and Shiguang Dailiren are a class above all the other anime this season. Shiguang has managed to get a 10 from me. It is that good.

Every once in a while, you come across an anime that blows your mind by the end. This felt like a Tarantino or Nolan movie, where the ending was genius. These days, I find it hard to find outstanding anime. I guess Sturgeon's law is in effect, where 90% of everything is crap. Odd Taxi, however, is unique, a rare gem waiting to be discovered amongst the ocean of generic garbage that plagues anime these days.
I did not expect an anime with anthropomorphic animals and a near-stoic walrus protagonist to be this good. But the moment the first passenger got into the walrus's
...
taxi, and the moment the protagonist interacted with his passenger, I knew this anime had potential to be exceptional.
So why did I not give Odd Taxi 10/10? Simple... One of the side characters, who is a 41-years-old male, is interested in an 18-year-old girl. This did not sit well with me. Pretty pathetic, in my opinion. If you can forgive that pathetic clown, then you are good to go. Luckily he does not take up too much time.
Furthermore, some characters, though interesting, are almost one-dimensional caricatures. This is not a major issue, in my opinion, as these characters are still surprisingly refreshing and relatable.
Some viewers might also get irritated by the numerous unlikely/rare events that happen in a particular sequence to move the story forward. This did not bother me, as the story progressed in a very interesting direction.
The art suits the anime. It is not flashy. The sound is also ordinary...
It is the story, the protagonist, and a few interesting supporting characters and mini-arcs that distinguish Odd Taxi from most of the insipid garbage that gets pumped out each season. A lot of anime with pretty visuals have trash characters and lame stories, but Odd Taxi does not need to hide behind superficial visuals, etc.
Watch at least 3 episodes before making up your mind. The ending is pure class. Odokawa, our Walrus protagonist, is also fascinating, and you will learn a lot about him.
Enjoy this rare gem.

I am intending to watch the remaining episodes. There are some minor spoilers here.
I see a lot of 10/10 reviews, some which were written after a few episodes. It is amply clear how deluded many AoT fans are based on the various perfect scores that were given after like 2 or 3 episodes. The AoT fanbase is so toxic and aggressive that most normal fans would be reluctant to give 10/10 out of spite. But that is unfair... I am not that petty. However, even on a technical level, AoT is not a 10/10, and it is not the best thing since sliced bread
...
as many hardcore fans will tell you.
I have watched 10 episodes so far, and it has been underwhelming, seeing that many people waited for ages. The hype was palpable, and many people waited eagerly, but the anime falls short of the expectations.
We are in the final season, and yet we still barely care for characters like Mikasa, Armin and even the talented Levi. Eren has changed a lot, and Mikasa has become less stoic now, but most of the characters leave much to be desired. Levi is pretty much the same. Armin is more composed than he was in in season 1, but he is still boring. Honestly, if any of these characters were to die, I'd not care one bit.. Shocking.
The plot is just needlessly convoluted now. The political angle is quite boring. Compare this to the excitement that season 1 brought. In season 1, the whole world was more confined and interesting. There was a genuine sense of claustrophobia, mystery and danger. Now, we have something like Game of Thrones. The anime has simply lost its charm by taking the plot in this direction. I suspect that many fans also feel betrayed by the angle this anime took. A WW3-type titan apocalypse with advanced militaries is not what many of us wanted...
Also, it is irritating how the main characters seem to be protected by insane plot armour despite the anime trying to be like a seinen that is set in a dangerous world. The main characters can effortlessly maneuver around in their ODM while dodging machine gun attacks... They must be as good as Neo from the Matrix. Fodder characters die, and a lot of time is wasted to make you feel sad... How can you feel sad for a character that barely did anything important across the seasons?
A lot of suspension of belief is required during fights now. For example, Mikasa is able to sever both legs of a titan with one clean cut, as though those thick legs were made of cake. It's unbelievable. In season 1, it took all of Levi's team to make Annie drop her arms (not sever), and now Mikasa can conveniently chop off an important titan's legs so that Eren can finish the fight... Also, one titan had a laughable extension cord growing out from its heel, which was a major handicap (it made no sense) that screamed "Hello. My weakness is here!".
We are 10 episodes in, and I can quite confidently say that this anime has lost the charm it possessed in season 1. Even without the toxic fanbase, I could not give this anime a 9. The expanded scale of the AoT universe has now weakened the tense dynamics that we found beforehand when it was about surviving behind the walls.
The anime is still above average, and the action is sometimes great... However, there is still a lot of exposition and annoying monologue.
Lower your expectations when watching this anime. Have fun.

I have seen 18 episodes so far, and I will finish this.
This anime has stellar visuals and some great fighting choreography.
However, as far as battle shonen is concerned, this is still a fairy run-of-the-mill anime. It reminds me of Bleach x Naruto x Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Take Naruto for example. Naruto, while infested with a lot of filler, is in a different ballpark to this anime. The creative world, rich lore, the amazing soundtracks, characters, the tragedies, the fighting style, etc., are one a different level in Naruto, and that is not even debatable.
The two main boys in Jujutsu remind me
...
of Naruto and Sasuke... The girl, however, seems cooler than boring Sakura.
This anime made a mistake of introducing the most OP character so early. It makes more sense to introduce the most broken characters later. Now, there is little to look forward to in terms of finding out how strong these characters are. The power levels are a bit all over the place. Imagine introducing a character like Madara, Whitebeard, Netero, etc., super early... No villain so far comes close.
The fighting style in this anime is fairly innovative, though nothing groundbreaking.
If it were not for the outstanding visuals, this anime would be even more generic. The story is not intricate at all, which is not bad per se... So far, there are no twists or mind-blowing revelations.
In battle shonen, Naruto has got by far the best fighting style (I will not mention DBZ, because that is a sacred nostalgia anime). One Piece, Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, etc., are all behind. Jujutsu is not that innovative. The bar has been set so high for battle shounen worlds. One only has to compare an Uchia like Madara or Itachi against any character in Jujutsu to see how creative Naruto really is out of pretty much all battle shonen with the exception of DBZ that changed the landscape.
This anime is above average. I prefer it slightly over Kimetsu no Yaiba, but that doesn't mean much. Enjoy.

This review contains no spoilers (and I have assumed that you have watched the first season). If you haven't watched the first season, then this anime might not make much sense (it doesn't really recap everything).
One word comes to mind when describing most of the characters in Fruits Basket: adorable. Most (yes, most) of the characters in this anime have their unique charms. And unlike in season 1 of the reboot, we also witness more growth (in particular in Yuki's character).
Some might find Tohru (the protagonist) unrealistic. She comes across as some kind of precocious Mother Theresa, radiating kindness, etc. Most people in
...
Tohru's position would have crumbled, but this girl is special. She tries to be fiercely independent, and her optimism seems to be excessive. I can understand why someone might dislike her, but I think she's great. I really like her, just like the Somas, who slowly but surely (like falling dominos) succumb to her irresistible charm. As you know (if you've seen the first season), the Somas are afflicted with a mysterious curse, and almost all of the zodiac members feel resigned, completely hopeless. Only a ray of light like Tohru will be able to penetrate and dispel this hopelessness that lingers above the Somas like an ominous and oppressive thundercloud. To me at least, it makes sense why she should be the protagonist. She has suffered and overcome many challenges. The Somas are still suffering, so Tohru serves as an excellent example of someone who can break free from the shackles of misfortune. She is a beacon of light, a symbol of hope. Any other character might struggle to break into the Soma family, but with Tohru you just feel at ease.
Also, Tohru, contrary to first impressions, is not perfect. She's human, and sometimes she let's her guard down (she's just good at hiding her weaknesses and has a tendency to distract herself, so that she doesn't dwell on her tragic past). In this season, she grows as well. She becomes more courageous and faces obstacles head-on. She also becomes more aware of what she says, how certain words might hurt those who live under different circumstances.
Some might think that the anime is not going anywhere (it's just meandering), that the pace is slow. I'd disagree. Some of the key characters have grown a lot. You just feel warm and good when watching these characters grow. You empathise with the Somas and hope that the curse will be lifted. I'm optimistic that everything will fall in place, that there will be a good ending. We might not find out everything now, but season 2 so far has really set the stage. Compared to season 1, this season is superior: there's more conflict in season 2, and you witness more character growth, which will be crucial for the final challenge.
Some might say that Tohru is a saint, an angel, a prophetess, a Mary Sue... another Pollyanna. Even if you dislike her for being close to "perfect", for being too optimistic, you won't be able to deny the overwhelming positive effect she has on those around her. Even as a viewer, I cannot ignore her dazzling presence. Tohru has a certain charm that is undeniable, really. Before you know it, you'll be rooting for her.
Watch season 1 first (you need context). This anime might not be your cup of tea, especially if you don't enjoy "Slice of Life". But unlike many anime, this one has an overwhelming feel-good factor. The pace doesn't concern me (but it might not sit well with everyone), because I enjoy watching these characters bloom, and I don't want this growth to be stunted due to someone trying to fit in more material.
Also, the opening and endings songs are nice (especially the second ending, which I often listen to). The animation is very good (a massive improvement from the original adaptation).
If you are looking for a feel-good anime that is not rushed and has many interesting characters, then give this anime a chance (watch season 1 first). Do not expect anything major to be solved within this season (this could be a major negative for some). :)

How to profess your love? Is the reward worth the risk? Most viewers will be able to relate to the struggle faced by the anime’s protagonists. Nobody wants to be rejected, for so much is at stake. Buckle up…
If you enjoy rom-coms and have an appetite for constant Death Note-like mind games, where you can see into the minds of our conflicted, angsty protagonists as they try to outwit each other (countering a counter... and so forth), then this anime could potentially leave you in stitches. And if you don't mind an almost complete disregard for "show, don't tell", where an omniscient narrator (who is mostly funny) comments on almost everything that is going on, then you are even more likely to enjoy this anime. And if you don't mind negligible character development and growth, clichéd characters (a tsundere, bakadere, kuudere, paranoid otaku...) and that there’s no plot resolution, then you, dear viewer, are highly likely to enjoy this show (but that’s quite a lot to ignore).
The teenage protagonists, both who are full of pride, are hesitant to make the first move, fearing that this might be seen as a sign of weakness, a sign that is tantamount to groveling and begging: "Even though you should be lucky to have me, please accept me, Great One" sort of thing, which has to be avoided at all cost. Rejection, of course, is the dominant fear faced by the pair. Instead of being direct about their intentions, the pair constantly try to manipulate events in an attempt to corner the other, in an attempt to engineer favourable situations. In almost every episode, we have these over-the-top mind games, where even a simple issue is blown out of proportion. These mind games are hilarious and refreshing initially, but such overuse gets tiring.
Despite the few drawbacks, you’ll be pleased to know that this anime managed to make me laugh several times (and this is a tremendous feat), but there was one episode that was so awful (had lame wiener jokes) that if affected the overall quality of the anime (I deducted a full point).
However, this anime’s cinematography is really something else, and it is what hides any immediate flaws. All camera tricks that you can think of (panning, zooming...) are used effectively to engage viewers, to add to the drama, to magnify emotions. Many scenes are shot just within the same room, but the cinematography is varied enough to keep things dynamic and exciting. The colours might not be vibrant enough, and details are sometimes lacking, but the editing and transitions are stellar.
The opening complements this anime, but it is not exceptional; and the ending (apart from the special ending of episode 3, which features an adorable solo dance performance that is reminiscent of K-pop choreography) is forgettable.
Unfortunately, too much "tell" weakens viewer engagement. Most of the information is dropped into your lap. I have to admit that the omniscient narrator is funny (and his comedic timing is brilliant at times), but having such a narrator (a double-edged sword with potentially more drawbacks) diminishes tension. You will either hate or love him.
Should this anime have almost the same rating as Death Note, which actually has truly intelligent and sophisticated characters? No! Death Note’s concept was really novel, and the mind games were on a different level. If it were not for the fact that Death Note lost steam after a certain event, the gap between Death Note and this anime would be even wider, and we wouldn’t even be debating why this anime should be considered in the same bracket.
Is this anime as good as or better than OPM? No! But you said that OPM is also repetitive! Yes… OPM is repetitive, b-but… it is a gag anime (a satire) that has a lot going for it (and you do wonder each time whether Saitama will eventually meet a worthy opponent, whether he will be accepted by everyone). This anime, however, fails to convince you why the characters are in love with each other. Saitama’s conflict and motivation, on the other hand, are very clear (and you want him to face a challenge).
Is this anime as funny as Gintama (the GOAT within comedy)? Hell no! Such sacrilege. Whenever mind games do happen in Gintama (for example, in the dentist episode), you can expect to laugh even more (and the situations are more varied and comical). Gintama has sooo many likeable characters, and there is great action as well. Other than the editing, it’s just superior to this anime in almost every way.
Is this anime funny? Yes! It is definitely above average (anyone who scores this below 5 is probably taking the piss, because the execution is definitely above average). I laughed a lot. But this anime has quite a few problems. If you can ignore these problems, you’ll have so much fun. Enjoy.

This review contains spoilers.
Studio Madhouse went all out to animate this 12-episode bundle of joy, which drops like some atomic bomb that unleashes a fission reaction of over-the-top levels of OMG! Feast your eyes, naysayers, and buckle up as the Hero opening song will send your hype-meter soaring over 9000.
The art was top-notch (considering when this anime came out). The music...? Solid and damn sweet. Once you get used to the song, there's no going back. It's a rollercoaster ride from here onwards. Skipping the song would be sinful.
Now let's go to the premise and concept. Oh boy... This is where many love
...
or hate One-Punch Man (OPM), and haters seem to be missing out on something very critical. This is a gag anime, a parody of superheroes. It's a breath of much-needed fresh air in what has become an oxygen-starved world, where the oxygen is novelty. How many of us are jaded after watching superheroes face the same struggle? How many of us have thought "Nah... Can't be asked to watch another DC or Marvel movie. It's always the same, more or less. Formulaic. Predictable."?
Well, let me surprise you. Here we have an anime with an overpowered protagonist, and by overpowered I really mean that he's beyond ridiculous, considering how he obtained his power. As the title suggests, Saitama (the protagonist) one-shots villains, and he makes it look like a walk in the park. Now you might be thinking that this is preposterous and dumb as hell. Why'd anyone want to watch an anime with some god-like hero, who will most likely always win and have no room for growth? He'll face no conflicts. He's just a lame Gary Stu. It's a given that he'll win, so there can be no suspense or tension. WRONG!
Saitama is far from perfect. The dude is a bit socially awkward. Despite being massively overpowered, what makes him immensely likeable is that he *is* actually conflicted, and that he *is* not perfect. Just like us, he has problems that can't be solved with power alone. He's so jaded after always winning. You actually feel bad for the dude. You really pray that one day he'll find a worthy opponent to kick his ass, to lift him out of his existential crisis. When stronger villains come, you start wondering whether that villain could be the one. I feel for Saitama. When you are that good, is there any point to life? Is there any point in going on? Are you just killing time, perpetually stuck in boredom? This power might be a blessing for those who are being saved, but not for Saitama. This conflict is critical to the story.
Here are some other cool things:
***BIG SPOILER STARTS***
Hero moment:
When Saitama absolutely wrecks the Deep Sea King (a pretty powerful opponent this time) and puts that imbecile in his place, we learn something very interesting about Saitama. Some douchebag in the crowd that was saved tries to discredit Saitama's heroic act. In fact, that kid questions whether the opponent was strong at all, on the basis that a "weakling" like Saitama shouldn't have been able to win if the monster were actually truly strong. (I say weakling here because Saitama was unfairly awarded a C-Class rank, and the public and most heroes are oblivious to the fact that Saitama makes pretty much all S-Class heroes look like fodder.) All the other heroes failed before Saitama's arrival, so maybe they were just pathetic according to the kid, considering that a C-ranker like Saitama won. The kid says, "In the end, the other 'heroes' didn't do anything." And Saitama's response hits you harder than any of his punches: "Today's my lucky day!" he says, laughing. "The other heroes wore the monster down, so beating it was kid's play!" Soak that in for a moment. Saitama was offended that the other heroes were also being ridiculed, so he decided to give them credit at his own expense. The other heroes actually didn't even tire the Deep Sea King at all. Saitama could have demonstrated his power further (by lifting something heavy maybe), but no... He couldn't stand the fact that the beaten heroes were being ridiculed despite having put their lives at risk. Salute this man! He's a hero through and through, and a very fine one too.
Characters:
When Genos (Saitama's apprentice/friend) arrives, we appreciate Saitama even more (as well as Saitama's character design). Genos looks flashy and badass, especially when compared to Saitama, who is bald and looks just like an egg in normal human clothes (when he's not wearing his awesome suit that is). The contrast between Genos and Saitama is staggering, and it creates a comical effect. A badass is being juxtaposed against a plain guy (but the plain guy is anything but ordinary, so don't judge).
Anyway, Genos is an interesting character for a number of reasons: he is ambitious and knows about Saitama's real strengths, and he wants Saitama to get more recognition. I feel for Genos as well. He's trying to become as powerful as Saitama, but he questions the feasibility of what increasingly seems like a pipedream. So here we have Saitama who is jaded and conflicted because of his immense power, and we also have Genos who is in absolute awe of Saitama and feels inadequate until he can bridge the gap in power, an almost impossible task. Both characters are conflicted for opposite reasons, and both enhance each other's designs.
There are other characters, such as King, who are also interesting, but I won't analyse these characters here.
Comedy:
This anime is fuh-nnny in many ways! You have arrogant villains, who are toying with lives. Their arrogance and delight in inflicting pain is revolting. You really want Saitama to come and put these baboons in their rightful place (while also hoping that Saitama will eventually get stretched to his limit). It puts a smile on your face when a smug villain gets absolutely smoked, bodied...
Also, it was hilarious when Saitama goes to take the hero exam. At the beginning, other applicants sneered at him, thinking that he was a deluded loser. BAHAHAHA! Saitama, now suddenly serious as hell, muscles flexed, face shadowed and ominous, destroys all physical records... (records that will probably never be broken). Dude jumps so high that his head gets stuck in the roof. BAHAHAH! After Saitama sets these insane records, the spectators who sneered at him return home ("Sheeeet. What's the point..." sort of reaction). So much pure comedy.
When Saitama opens his envelope to see what rank he received... LOL! He slowly pulls out the paper, thinking he got an S-Class rank (I mean it was a given... It's Saitama we're talking about). He smiles, oblivious to the fact that it was the letter C. When reality sinks in, you can't help but laugh... You also feel sorry for the dude (he was robbed).
Also, Saitama sometimes has a hilarious facial expression: a troll face and a blank face... The art changes when he pulls these faces, and it is damn funny. Very hard to explain. I could go on, but there is a lot of comedy, apart from the obvious parody of the hero genre.
***BIG SPOILER ENDS***
In terms of story, there doesn't seem to be much of a plot at all. New villains come, some who are much more dangerous, and Saitama goes to do his thing. The parody is the main theme. We want to find out if Saitama will be able to find a worthy opponent, if he will be acknowledged by heroes and naysayers.
You don't even need to watch the next season. This season is very short and refreshing (the concept is pretty damn novel: a parody of villains and heroes).
Some might feel that it's too repetitive (rinse and repeat), that Saitama will just keep winning, but I don't think this is the main focus at all, as I have already explained. While certain aspects are repetitive, there is a level of depth that is not immediately obvious. You learn so much about the two main characters and their internal struggles. It's interesting that the strongest guy has a weakness inside. Will he find purpose and come to terms with life?
OPM knocked me out with the opening song, and I knew that this was going to be different from that moment onwards, that this was going to be class... Give this an anime a chance. You could be missing out on 12 episodes of unmitigated awesomeness.
