To put in shortly, this was SAO with a school and mecha element put in. The long way to analyze this series however takes a little bit more ridicule. A convoluted and sporadic plot had different conflicts being introduced frequently and with a lack of an overall storyline that nearly begins to get on track but then falls off the rails into another unexplained sub story. As much as I hate to say it, this is probably the best part of Sword Art Online that we've gotten so far, and it has absolutely nothing to do with any of the formerly introduced characters of the show. Even then, the only good part of this season of SAO was the beginning part of GGO. It had an interesting mystery to solve compared to the original season and added an extra layer to the in game death which honestly felt scarier then the original concept as it was always unknown who would die next. No, just..... no. What I was expecting from this was another brilliant adaptation of an equally brilliant manga that we had seen in the first season, and I was sorely dissapointed. A confusing plot coupled with unexplained characters that even birthed the joke of "you'd get it if you read the manga" who's only redeeming qualities is good animation and a singular memorable song brought me to tears not from emotional pain, but from the suffering endured of audibly exclaiming my dissatisfaction with the stripping of an originally well written story reduced to a sub par second season.
