Quick summary: A manga where an unlucky dude dies on sick bed. When his soul meets god, he asks for his second life to be a farmer to god gives him an all purpose tool and a healthy body for it. After a series of events he created a harem and founded a town, typical Isekai stuffs. Simply put, this manga is another isekai daily slice-of-life manga in a fantasy setting.
First, the art is not very good, I don't mind this very much but I wager it would turn a lot of people off.
Second, this manga tends to tell you the what is happening rather
...
then actually showing you what is happening. Without spoiling too much, an example is during one of the biggest moments of the mc's life, he was panicking, how did they show that he was panicking? Not by showing it through his expression, or his interaction with others during the event but by SAYING THAT HE WAS PANICKING. This killed any emotion and impact this event was suppose to have. It also didn't help that the transitions between events were so abrupt that I had to double check if I missed a page or two. It was basically something along the line of "this is a very important moment, anyway moving on."
Third, this "tell don't show" issue also greatly affects the pacing and characters. Characters and events constantly appeared and disappeared through narration without any memorable pay-off. Anything that might be interesting? Narrated. Interesting supporting character? quickly sidelined through narration. Character-developing moments? quickly glossed over through narration. Seriously I'm not exaggerating when I say about 70 - 80% of many chapters are just square/rectangle boxes of narrating stuffs with very few meaningful dialogues mixed in between.
Overall
I feel like I'm reading a report about a story rather then reading the story.
This is one of the few rare cases where if you are still interested in this premise then I would recommend checking the anime adaptation as it's much better.

I'm very disappointed with this anime.
The whole "A Girl can see ghosts and is sent back in time to meet historical figures." is a very interesting premise. Unfortunately, they barely did anything interesting with this set up even toward the end. After the first 2 episodes, the entire premise was poorly explained and then was toss aside in favor of normal daily slice-of-life-with-the-occasional-funny-moments anime. Even when they tried something with the whole Tamayori, the thing just ended the minute it got slightly interesting. Seriously why even bother showing a girl who can see ghosts, how it negatively affected her life, and how there are ghosts
...
within this world where they need an entire division to deal with it only to have like 4 disappointing episodes about it. It's kinda a theme with most episodes, something mildly interesting happened only for the payoff to be a disappointment and could have you go "Why?".
This anime was also over-bloated with characters while under-developed most of the actual main casts and their relationship with the MC. Worse still, the anime kept introducing new side-characters with very little or no significance to the story or were only there for 1 gag/flirt with MC then never appeared again even within that episode. Though one of the few good things I do acknowledge is that the MC wasn't a damsel in distress (aside from that one episode) like most reverse harem anime and that she actually went out of her way to accomplish something.
Overall, the best way I can summarize this whole anime is "A girl got sent back in time and lived out her daily normal life in that era, oh and she can see ghost but that's not important since only few episodes gonna touch on that subject."
Truly disappointing.

This anime has quite an interesting setup for a good mystery even more so when other girls appear and some even pretending to be his sister creating more mysteries for the mc to solve. All is good for a great plot, there's only one problem with this: They fked it up.
When creating a mystery what you want to do is to leave clues for other people to guess and figure things out, not leaving the answer. That's exactly what this anime did, create a mystery ONLY TO GIVE AWAY THE ANSWER AT THE VERY NEXT SCENE making to whole thing pointless. While yes
...
the main grand mystery only left clues and revealed itself in the end but the small one like the girls pretending to be his sister was handled very clumsily that it gave away itself faster then you can say "best waifu". Even when the anime tried to create a twist at later episodes it was also handled poorly giving away the answer before giving any clue.
Plot aside how about the rom-com? the characters? well...it's a somewhat a mixed bag. while some girls are likable and quite fun to watch but the creator made them into horny sluts who would strip and temped the mc to make love with them even when it made no sense to do so. "Childhood friends?" ok let me feed you "hard on pills" and sleep topless on your bed next to you. "Pretending to be lover?" sure let me strip naked at school in an empty room and climb on top of you. "Tomboyish girl?" an excuse for me to be literally naked in your room. This made scene that were meant to be relationship building between the mc and the love interests only to be fan service moment (yes some anime can do a good job with both relationship building and fan service, not in this anime though). What about Shougo? While he is a decent mc but he is also the dumbest smart person, he was able to solve the mysteries but at the same time had the tendency of giving away crucial/secretive information to complete strangers without even knowing them first.
This anime had so many potential with it's great setup and fun characters. what a disappointment.

This anime reminds me a lot of Konosuba, from the way it presented itself, the comedy, the relationship between the characters but there are many differences that made this anime stands out from Konosuba and it benefits greatly from that.
(there may be spoilers)
While yes one may say the story of Shinchou Yuusha is somewhat the same as Konosuba (or many other isekai animes that have heroes being resurrected, demon kings, saving a fantasy world etc etc) but the different between them is the presentation/world building.
Konosuba first introduced with the hero's monologue as he happily described himself as nothing more than a lazy, useless bum who
...
died in one of the most embarrassing ways imaginable only to be revived and met up with a powerful and smug looking goddess. But the role reversed as the two entered the world that needed saving, the useless bum turned out to be the most useful one and the powerful goddess turned out to be the useless one. Later on when they were joined with even more weirdo characters that is when the anime focused solely into exploring the relationship between the four of them. While there are moments where the supporting casts interacts with them but those are mainly for comedic moments and only lasted a few minutes. As for the world, it is as how a comedy anime should be, bright, colorful and death in this world is also has comedic value in itself.
Shinchou Yuusha on the other hand is different as it first introduced us to the goddess and to even be more clear they downright told us that this goddess is only a weak third-rate one and how she reacted when she was given this ultra difficult quest to complete. Those alone showed what type of goddess/person she was. But when the hero did show up, we were presented with an unknown character and aside from what the title had already told us about him, this person was still a mystery, we know not of his past life or what caused him to be like that, all we got was the impression of someone who takes things way too serious and when the two set foot in the new world they were exactly as how they were presented (except the fact that the goddess was actually useful). The anime then focused solely on the dynamic between the duo. Even when there are more people in the party, the anime never stray away from this duo and even considered the ones that joined later to be supporting casts. What's more was how much of an impact the duo had on other supporting casts and how they affected them in the long term, in a sense most of them were normal only to turned weirdo when interacting with the hero. As for the world, while its still that bright, colorful world, the anime also amplified the seriousness of this dangerous world with blood, murder and how death actually meant death for the people there, while the goddess is immortal but if the hero died then game over.
My thoughts: Konosuba benefits greatly from the dynamic between the four main casts and only bring in the supporting casts for brief comedic purposes or for plot purposes, Shinchou Yuusha benefits greatly with the duo and how "traumatizing" long term effect on of both plot and comedic purposes they had on the supporting casts while adding some emotional heartfelt moments in later episodes (though I did find some problems with the emotional parts but that's just me nitpicking)
Conclusion: Any fan of isekai/Konosuba anime should give this one a go and seeing how it ended there might be a season 2

Bland, generic and boring are my best words to describe this anime, making it a drag to sit through.
What actually surprises me most about this anime is that how it managed to hit so many cliche in the book yet none of it stands out or even remotely interesting to watch.
The characters here were the most generic type. We have the main girl who is another typical kind, sweet virgin-like girl. While they did make an attempt to make her as someone who is brave and can hold on her own, but they did it so poorly that she turned damsel in distress faster then
...
you can say Angelique, seriously.
(spoiler ahead)
Example in episode 10, after getting Thanatos' attention, they could have the thing chased after her as she lured it away from those that were its targets. That way it would make it look like she is putting up a fight while creating a chance for the guy to finish the thing off, but instead she fell to the ground and the guy had to jump in and save her. Again this happened in episode 11, as her friends were in danger she stepped in to save them, only to be immediately kidnapped by the cheap knock-off Terminator.
As for the 4 guardians, they were so boring and generic, all 4 were good at cooking, all 4 of them had troubled past, all 4 weree in pain or feeling regret whenever something related to their past appear. You ain't wrong to think they were clones of each other and the supporting characters were forgettable.
Another terrible character was the supposedly villain. The guy gone bad due to jealousy sure that's fine except he was so awfully written that it made him look more of a whiny btch than an actual bad guy (not sure if that was the intention or not).
The plot was fine and mediocre with pacing problem (either dragging or uninteresting at some point). The comedy was none-existence or done so poorly that you can't tell either they were trying to be funny or someone fell asleep writing that scene. The action was boring and nothing special or memorable about any of it. The romance was weak and uninteresting. Even the climax and the ending were underwhelming.
Overall if you are looking for a mediocre shoujo-harem anime then this anime is as mediocre as it can be.

This is basically another version of Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni but with a plot and i find that by having a plot is somewhat makes this anime even worse than isekai.
The first thing you notice when watching this is how awful it is at introducing you into its world and lords as the most i got out of this is that a bunch of clans are at war, then we have this generic main guy, who is from another world, as the leader of this boring wolf clan wants to bring peace and that's it. Oh there's also a bunch of Norse mythologies
...
toss into it too but even that was made boring as hell which is quite an achievement.
I couldn't even bother myself to at least give a damn about any of the clans as they gave me nothing to care for, not their histories, relationships or even a reason to go to war as they showed nothing. It is like one day they woke up feeling like crap and decided to wage war with other clans and here's the best part, the leader of each clan (beside the wolf) is either a waifu bait waiting to be put into the harem or generic villain aholes, trust me i'm not being mean when calling them aholes, its because they actually act like aholes in the anime.
I tried to find at least something good about this anime seriously i really did but what really killed it for me was the characters themselves as these female characters are the most boring and generic even by cliche standard as they have zero development here beside the fact they all love the same the most generic and boring protagonist of all harem anime. Hell the antagonists of this anime aren't any better as they have zero charm, zero personality and either act like an ahole, smug like an ahole or just being an ahole.
Now the final nail in the coffin for this anime is how god awful the ending was. It is basically the icing on this mess.

I like the concept of this anime, bringing mythology creatures from the Cthulhu mythos and turn them into cute girls and this battle between the monsters and gods is quite fun to watch, also the whole mc's family belongs to the clan of silver forks ninja thing which sounds kinda dumb but funny.
The only downside to this anime is how unlikable the mc is, maybe it's just me but the dude acts like a total jackass everytime Nyaruko makes a move on him. I know that most anime when it comes to a girl falling madly with a guy but since due to anime's logic
...
the guy is either too embarrassed, dumb, dense, or in love with someone else and he always find a way to slip away when the girl tries to force her love on him but here the guy acts like a total ahole, his actions are basically saying "f u, get away from me, i don't love you, get out of my life" and because of this i sometimes wonder why the hell would he even feel sad or emotional when Nyaruko leaves him, oh and he also wines like a btch sometimes making him much more annoying than any monsters in the anime

My first reaction when I read the story of this anime was "ok now this might be fun to watch".
My reaction after watching was "Why the fk did I waste my time on this?".
Right at episode one they opened with some explanations, I'm not against this I mean I do want to know a bit about the setting of the anime but the way they handled these explanations was so boring and mediocre. This anime is about sex jokes and porn mags at least put in some puns or sarcasm at the opening rather than a serious tone talking about laws and banning porn.
Another
...
mistake here is that they rushed things like they straight up introduced most of the characters into the first episode, I'm fine with this if they had some characters development later on, only there were very few of that moments here. The only thing I remember the most is how the mc was treated badly due to his father's actions as for the rest just not worth any attention.
Now the biggest set back here is how the jokes were handle. I do like some dirty jokes if it were well written and handled nicely but here they tried to cram in as many jokes as they can. I did find some moments where the jokes were actually funny only to be ruined by more forced in jokes later on. It's like they were trying to keep the comedy going but overdid it way too much and ruined the whole thing.

I really like this type of anime with fourth wall breaking and making references to other anime like conan, gundam ,... and the jokes do fit quite well into the setting of this anime though some jokes can be seem to be a bit forced in but that ain't much of a problem since they don't take away much from the enjoyment.
(warning may contain spoilers)
Now the real reason I can only give this a 7 and not higher is the way they add Himegami into the story, I mean I know the anime timeline and the manga timeline are different but I just can't
...
overlook the fact that in the manga he appears to be somewhat a mysterious person with a dark past involving with the Sanzenin but in the anime he's just a monkey, really he likes to eat banana in high places with the occasion of wearing a mask and the reason he isn't Nagi's butler here is something that can outrank all of Hayate's terrible puns. Another down point for the anime is the whole miss principal arc, this lady is so shallow and boring that I doubt even Sakuya can crack a lame joke, it's like "okay we have some main heroes so now let's create a villain and make them fight" and with that turns the entire finale into a mediocre shenanigan.

This anime really surprised me in a weird way and i actually kinda enjoyed it.
First is the story, to briefly sum it up a 15 years old find her life so depressing that she auctions herself at a shady market only to be bought by a hundred years old mage who later on even told her that she is his wife (not creepy at all) and after that its just their everyday life with magic. Now the issue I have with the story is that I'm not really into this type of relationship between the 2 but I'm willing to give it a pass since
...
it does have a nice premise.
As for the pacing, it is kinda slow, but it worked well with the way this anime present its story, which has a certain charm and its really enjoyable too.
For the setting, I really like it when an anime is set in a world of magic and this anime delivers that aspect of magic too but it's confusing at time and lacking something that could make this more beautiful, I mean they did pick England as the setting for this magical world after all so here I was hoping to see at least some mention about king Arthur or the sword in the stone or even the appearance of Merlin himself, maybe some obscure myths/legends of the country, hey they could have made robin hood into a spirit guardian of the forest but none of that here so I was a bit disappointed. Instead we are stuck with Oberon, Titania who seem to be boring or annoying at time and some forgettable fairies.
While I find both Chise and Thorn to be well developed characters, it is the supporting casts that could really use more work, they aren't really bad but just need a bit more development to make them more stand out rather than just being there to fill in the blank.
Overall this anime is a nice and enjoyable chill time.
