Quick review for this. But while I did like S1, I felt like it lacking plot was the biggest drawback. So what does S2 do? Give more plot, new characters and just improves everything that the first season set up already. Really wish we got another season or even specials, as what we have here is excellent stuff. If the first season didn't completely interest you, perhaps try out the 2nd season after, you might really like it.
The new visual style is nice as well. Not to say S1 looked bad, but S2 just looks... I think it just suits the show better overall compared
...
to S1. As well as Hajime being a fantastic addition to the show, I think holding back Hotaru to give her some spotlight was a good decision, however I wouldn't say she needed to be gone for half the season.
The only drawbacks I can really give it is the lack of memorable OST, the less memorable but still fine OP and ED and it being a little on the short side, but that doesn't take away from it being a great slice of life/gourmet focused show.

Sooo... Scorching Ping Ping Girls...
Well I'll keep this short, I think this show is pretty good for a Low Budget show and what it manages to accomplish.
Animation is great for the low budget, little details like the sweat and little movements you find are great, facial expressions and animation is passable nowadays and most of it doesn't look distracting or lacking.
I think my biggest gripe with the show is that it lacks in areas where the setup was excellent. The character dynamics of some of the characters are great such as the Agari and Koyori relationship, especially at the beginning but feel a little half-baked
...
in other characters like Mune or Kiruka. That and the middle point of the show... was a bit of a slog to sit through.
I think if it had more character development in some areas, a more interesting middle arc and maybe some more episodes to flesh them out more... it could have been even better and potentially up there as one of the greatest sports x slice of life anime ever made.
But despite everything, I'd still recommend it for what it managed to accomplish.

So. This is a show that makes it premise very clear even before you start watching it. It's a show focused on tights, legs, feet and all that. So to those who aren't into any of that, watched it and gave it a bad rating or review... well I don't know what you were expecting. I believe even for an Ecchi about tights, legs and feet it manages to go above and beyond.
- How well does it do its job -
Very well, it starts out tempting and promising and gets creative every single episode, keeping a small cast of forgettable characters, but who cares, you're
...
not here for that. It gets more and more each episode and doesn't feel like it drags either, it gets right into the point.
- Visuals and Sounds -
The sounds and such are decent, the sounds of the tights are nice, and the voice acting is pretty good as well. The visuals are very beautiful for a show like this. There wasn't a single thing I thought looked ugly or over saturated. All the colors, brightness and contrast are at the right level... and the animation for the tights and legs and such you're here for... you won't be disappointed in the slightest, it goes above and beyond with it.
- Plot, Characters and other things -
So yeah, there isn't any plot or any major character development, but for a show like this that doesn't last longer than 4 minutes per episode, it doesn't matter, you're only here for the Ecchi stuff. The episodes being 4 minutes long doesn't matter either, it doesn't feel like it's being dragged out for the sake of a plot point and just gets right into it.
- Sooo... why an 8? -
The reason I'm rating this an 8 is that I believe it manages to accomplish the expectations I set for it and even exceeds it. I was just expecting a show with a few foot shots with tights on and such and no progression, just something that would change a little per episode, but it does much more than that. It makes every episode feel unique, with a few minor nitpicks here and there, but they're very minor for sure.
So yeah... go watch it if you like Tights, Legs and Feet. You won't regret it... ^_^

Disclaimer: This is purely how I feel, I can understand if you do not like it especially after watching the other shows, I just want to share why I believe it's a great piece of media especially after watching the other ones. (Also this is my first review so go easy on me >_<). This also contains spoilers!!
- Beginning -
Sooo... this show isn't so similar to that of the main series... this is more so its own thing and doesn't have any mystery at all, it's like having a traditional love story but with Haruhi characters. You may think this is just something you could
...
gloss over, like it doesn't mean anything if you already watched the previous shows, and you are sort of right... but here is why I'd recommend you at least give it a try.
- The Alternate World -
If you've seen The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (Which I highly suggest you do after the two seasons), then you will know about the parallel world introduced in it where things are a little different. The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki Chan follows up with that world keeping the character traits and roles introduced for it, like Haruhi being a little more Mature and Ryoko... well y'know.
And while it does tone down on the mystery aspect by a lot, that's kinda what makes it different from the main world we know and love, the lack of mystery and instead opting in for a SOL type show where we get to see these characters live out their school lives and even partake in various tasks like we saw before.
- The Slice Of Life Aspect -
So as I said before the SOL aspect, while in the main series, is much more apparent here. We see characters do things you would expect to see in traditional SOL anime, such as go to festivals, celebrate various holidays, have romance and many different things that is a nice reliever to see after all the stuff that goes down in the main series.
Seeing everyone finally live their lives after all the stuff Haruhi did is a nice reliever, seeing as we have two seasons of that and even more in the light novel. As a spin-off, it does its job very well and has just the right amount of pacing, so things don't get too boring.
- Nagato Yuki -
So one of the biggest aspects of this show is how Yuki has changed. I said before that characters like Haruhi and Ryoko had some changes, but Yuki by far has the most. As we know from the show, she is an alien that is very intelligent and doesn't show much emotion, but you could always see that she still had emotions within her.
However, in this universe, she's much more of a shy, clumsy but very nice girl who enjoys reading and playing video games just like how we saw in the main show. She shows much more emotion in this compared to the main show, and overall makes for a cute romance between her and Kyon.
- Overall -
If you haven't seen this show yet, I highly recommend it if you enjoyed Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and especially if you love Yuki like I do. It's a great relief from the drama that goes down from the main show and is very warm and enjoyable!
