Naoya for the win!

The first season of "Girlfriend, Girlfriend" was pretty enjoyable and fun to watch. We follow Naoya, who finally got Saki as his girlfriend after years of rejection, meeting Nagisa and realizing he loves these two girls. After begging Saki to open their relationship with Nagisa, she agrees and they enter a polygamous adventure where they encounter all sorts of trouble and obstacles to overcome. What really sold the show for me was the English dub produced by Studio Nano. Kevin D. Thelwell was extremely funny to listen to, with his over honesty and unintentionally funny remarks, he is easily the best character ... out of this season. All positives aside, now the negatives. The animation is nothing impressive, in fact it's pretty weird and choppy. Some plot lines and choices don't really make any sense but I expected it. The opening and ending music isn't special and doesn't stand out. Yet despite these negatives, the positives out-weigh them by a slight margin. I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone who isn't into this genre of anime (as in degenerate ecchi harem shows).

0/10 for not playing Let Down by Radiohead like all the Tik Toks I've seen.

In all seriousness, this film is amazing and all the hype that surrounds it is so deserving. We follow these two kids draw and write manga series for their school, eventually climbing the ladder of the mangaka world and work for well regarded studios. The story starts off with our protagonist pretentiously enjoying her fame as the school newspaper's mangaka, only to get humbled by an unseen shut in and her incredibly detailed drawings. Classic simplicity vs complexity dynamic. However, after giving up on drawing, she's brought back after realizing the ... shut-in she's been in this one sided competition with is actually a huge fan of her work. We then follow the beautiful blossom of their friendship and collaboration that land them a spot in a major manga company. But, like any other Tatsuki Fujimoto work, this movie ends with the most gut wrenching twist that had me in tears. Our favorite shut-in, after bravely pursuing her own dreams of improvement, gets murdered in cold brutal fashion. Our protagonist then has to accept and move on in her memory. The animation is phenomenally done by Studio DURIAN, capturing the unique style of Fujimoto while delivering astounding animated sequences. The music is amazing and compliments each heart warming and breaking scene. I had every intention of watching this in the original Japanese audio, but due to certain constraints, I had to opt for the English audio done by VSI and directed by Patrick Seitz. The English acting is solid and does a good job at conveying the intended emotions for certain scenes, Valerie Rose Lohman and especially Grace Lu did a great job as our two main characters. Overall, I would definitely recommend this roller-coaster of emotions of a movie to anyone looking to break their heart to millions of pieces.

Not exactly sure as to why Japan seems so fixated on incest, but here we are.

We get to follow a boy and girl, along with their abundant friends, renovate and save their school building from demolition. The plot twist for this: THEY'RE ACTUALLY LONG LOST SIBLINGS!? No, no they're not. In fact they even had to bring the girl's mom back from America, and the boy's dead father's friend to tell the both of them they are in fact not related and can do whatever they want without looking like the Japanese version of the Whittakers. Good news for the girl especially, she seemed the ... most upset. Other than that we get to see this lively group of kids clean and remodel this old and charming building with so much detail and character. Along with the eye pleasing visuals is a calm and heart warming soundtrack to compliment it. The English dub, recorded by POP Sound, is great as usual with any Studio Ghibli dub. While I would recommend this to any Ghibli fanboys out there, I wouldn't for anyone else, there's much better alternative movies out there.

Good, but underwhelming.
My Oni Girl isn't anything special, nor is it bad. The story follows a boy and an Oni traveling to find her mother, who end up crossing into the Oni world. The story tries to jam in multiple plot lines that feel pointless to the main story. It feels as if even the movie cannot decide whether to be a runaway or fantasy film, which picks up rushed pacing issues for the first half and an almost dragging feeling for the next half. This story would have benefited as a TV series rather than a movie. While I cannot comment on the performance ... of the original Japanese audio, I can almost guarantee it would've been a better experience than the English dub. Awkward voice lines coupled with monotone acting makes for a boring viewing, disappointing considering Iyuno's track record with English dubs (mainly Pluto and Maboroshi) along with their acquisition of SDI Media (Devilman Crybaby, Penguin Highway, A Whisker Away, etc.). The biggest compliment is the animation, with Studio Colorido's fluid style and cinematic coloring. Overall, the movie makes for a good one-and-done experience, hopefully Studio Colorido learns from this experience to improve their future projects and make great movies again.

An underrated gem.

A bunch of school kids get dragged into a seemingly endless void filled with mystique and phenomenon, with each episode more confusing than the last. The school of kids quickly divide into factions with our beloved main characters facing off with their despicable peers. The first episode perfectly captures the tone of the entire series and reels you into this supernatural world. The series ends with a bittersweet sense that thematically fits. Funimation Entertainment's dub contains some of the best performances from this studio. Madhouse beautifully animated each frame and brought a simplistic and detailed style that pleases the eyes. Within the first ... few minutes of the first episode makes one thing evident: the lack of music. This series takes a more quiet approach with it's music composition, preferring to play either 1, 2, or no songs at all, with each episode ending with "Shounen Shoujo" by GING NANG BOYZ. Overall, this acid trip of a show will hook you on and not let go.

What a breathtaking experience.
This movie follows a group of kids transported on an abandoned apartment complex floating through an endless sea with all of them learning to work and cooperate with one another to survive and escape. The dynamic between Kosuke and Natsume can be frustrating to watch yet engages the audience. Noppo's kindness and supernatural aura makes him the best out of these kids, making his farewell hit like a punch to the stomach. Studiopolis's English dub is not particularly special, a bit weird to hear adults trying to sound like children. The ending can feel a little rushed, but bearable. The animation is ... breathtaking, amazing lighting with fluid motion to compliment. Unfortunately, its daunting 2 hour runtime, as well as its slower pacing can deter new viewers. Despite that, this film was a pleasure to behold and has been the best movie I've seen in recent memory, deserving of a rating of 8.17/10. A bit saddening the score isn't higher.

A unique plot with a girl trying to connect with her crush by transforming into a kitten. The beginning of the movie feels generic yet engaging, with the finale being satisfying enough. SDI Media's English dub is well performed and compliments the movie. The animation is the biggest selling point, with fluid motion, amazing lighting, and breathtaking visuals. The music used compliments and suites the tone. However, the pacing can feel sluggish and dragging especially with its 1hr and 44min runtime. Overall, the execution of this movie is well done and is a fun movie to relax to, deserving its score of 7.08/10.

I would like to start off by apologizing for my first harsh review of a 5.99/10 for this series, after a second viewing, this show is definitely a lot better than I remember. The story is very unique by combining zombies and cute anime girls who have to save the Saga Prefecture by becoming local idols. Despite my hesitance with music anime (which is probably why I gave a harsh review originally), this has become my all time favorite in this genre. The beginning of the series was hilarious with Sakura meeting her end as the show starts. The end of this season was good, ... cliche but good. Overall, the execution was done amazing by MAPPA. The animation was great, however the annoying trend of seeing character's eyes/eyebrows through their hair is frustrating to look at, as well as the 3D animation looking uncanny. I watched Funimation's dub, well casted and performed, with Ricco Fajardo's hilarious interpretation of the band's producer stealing the show. Unfortunately the biggest annoyance with Funimation's dub are the songs being sung in original japanese with the English versions being blu-ray exclusive. The music genre isn't my favorite, however I didn't hate it as much as I would have in the past. After revisiting this show, I'm glad to have upgraded the score to a 7.53/10

Robots piloted by depressed and mentally unstable teens working for an organization aimed to evolve mankind and help revive an emotionally abusive dad's lover? Sounds... Interesting...
The story of "Neon Genesis Evangelion" is very complex and ambiguous, sometimes hard to follow, yet amazing to witness. The protagonist, Shinji Ikari, is an unconventional one at that; he's a timid and socially awkward coward who's given the responsibility of piloting the giant robot "EVA Unit 1." This unique twist on the usual heroic protagonist in the Mecha-Anime genre was amazing to witness.
ADV Studio's unintentionally dynamic English voice over was amazing to listen to throughout the series. The first ... few episodes had a more goofy tone with the delivery being cringe-worthy, however by the end of the show, each actor honed in their talents and created one of the best English voice overs to air on TV.
The opening music is one of the most prominent songs in anime history. The music used for combat and intense moments seem grand and bombastic, coupled with the slow and beautiful melodies. The soundtrack later utilize more orchestral compositions near the end of the series, adding to the Christianity and biblical themes of the series.
However every great show always come with their set-backs. As said before, the overall narrative can be confusing and hard to follow, along with animation that look and feel cheaply made, and the biggest set back of all: the ending. This highly infamous ending seems rushed, leaving many plot lines largely unresolved, and appears cheap, as if the budget had dwindled to near nothing by that point.
Despite all of that, "Neon Genesis Evangelion" was a very good show to watch from start to finish. "Congratulations!"

I had an overall good time watching. The story didn't feel any special compared to other romance and raunchy anime, but the unique characters helped to keep this show interesting enough to continue. However, with how much sexual content this anime revolves around HIGHSCHOOL characters, this would be one of the last shows I'd recommend to anyone who isn't acquainted to this perverted and raunchy side of anime. What really stole the spotlight was Funimation's English voice over. Hilarious dialogue with great deliveries from the actors made this C tier anime fun to watch. The animation appears alright, at times looking cheap.
