I have watched the show till ep 34 and I would like to summarize my viewing experience with "Great premise, too much dialogue".

The animation and character designs are good and fit the setting, the premise is strong and has enough unique elements. But it falters when it comes to executing action scenes. The exposition in this anime is honestly testing at times and reduces the impact of action sequences. There is a major alien invasion arc and it just lacks any grip. Every character needs to give the context behind every move they make even when the audience already knows it. I found myself fast ... forwarding a few bits which is something very rare for me.

I have a long way to go in the show so im hopeful it gets better.

Edit: I have completed the season. It does get better. There is a filler arc in between which I skipped. The rank wars arc was pretty engaging and now im into second season. The animation quality has improved a lot.
