Shaft thought "hmm how can we make the popular time reversal due to a certain circumstance trope, but not copy what's come before" A high school romance !

I have just returned from watching this in the Cinema, and i felt compelled to write a quick review. I won't be going into detail about the couple next to me getting a little to involved with the romance genre, because that wasn't the films fault.

I have to give Shaft some credit, the visuals and backdrops were absolutely stunning, especially at the beginning. Though I wouldn't place it upon the same tier as some other recent anime ... films (You know the ones) but that isn't a criticism in the slightest.

For the sake of the review, I'm going to call the main characters as Monogatari Copy (Female) and Monogatari Copy (Male), anyone familiar with Shafts art style would instantly recognise some blatant comparisons, and yes there was a couple head tilts.

I did feel that the characters were a little underdeveloped, though the limitations of a 90 minute film are obvious, it just would have been great to see the potential utilised. The comedic moments sprinkled throughout did manage to get a few blowing out your nostrils in appreciation and grins across the audience, but there wasn't any other emotions being extracted.

I only intended to write up a quick review, so to wrap up, Fireworks (as it was printed on my ticket) was a nice film that had a great potential, but was enjoyable never the less, if you're looking for a quick and easy to watch film, give it a watch.

As always, in the end, as a westerner does my opinion really matter anyway?

*The ending credits song was great, but i feel I may have heard it somewhere before...Oh well*

So i've just gotten back from watching this at the Cinema, though i've never written a review before i thought i could share a few thoughts...

To put it simply it was an emotional slice of life, that would have possibly brought a tear to a man's eye if i was alone, I'm going to start of saying i would defiantly recommend this film if there is a plan for any future screenings (UK) or when it gets released via other mediums.

Story:

Though i hadn't read the manga in advance (i will be sure to pick it up now) so im not sure how much it ... deviates from the canon story. I am aware its difficult to fit everything into film length so i did feel some characters could have been more developed but not once did i feel that the story was forced. I wont say to much about the plot as i am aware of spoilers, but i had me laughing one moments and emotional the next, and i found this pretty special as not much can have that effect on me personally.

Art:

I personally thought the artwork and animation was great, someone i was with said it wasn't the best they've seen but i found the style very fitting for the characters and found myself immersed regardless.

Sound:

The voice acting was amazing, especially when i realised how difficult it would have been to get certain scenes correct to portray the emotion to the audience , it may just have been the cinema i was at but i found it was extremely loud at times but maybe that was to block out the person behind me from being heard crying.

Character:

Ive already briefly touched on this so i wont go into to much detail, the main characters were extremely relatable and you defiantly were strung along on how they wanted to make you feel towards specific people. There were a few Anime cliques thrown around but nothing to outlandish that it puts you off.

Enjoyment:

Yes, of course.

Overall:

I loved this film, im not sure whether im overly biased because its my first time watching a film like this in the cinema (I do not count Boruto haha) but i genuinely had a great time and i would highly recommend anyone whos not sure about watching it to just go and enjoy a heart warming story.
