I find Violet Evergarden isn't executed perfectly, but the positives definitely more than outweigh the negatives. The emotional moments hit; the action--what little there is--is quick, brutal, and entertaining as hell; and the payoff for Violet's character arc is one of the best I've seen in awhile, period. There were a couple episodes that dragged a bit for me like four and six, but even those are salvaged by Violet's continued development and growth as well as some beautiful animation and the soundtrack.
Speaking of which, on the technical side, this show has very strong art and animation, and it keeps it up throughout the entire

thirteen episodes. The sound too is great. Maybe it's just me, but I found there to be something strangely mesmerizing about the way Violet's mechanical arms click and clack. As for the score, I can't get enough of it. It really adds to the scenes.
As far as other negatives go, I do wish some of the other characters had a little more development, like a certain someone who does something that leaves you going, "What the hell, you're capable of that?" A lot of the people Violet fights also suffer from stormtrooper aim, but I can forgive that since the purpose of this show isn't to portray hyper-realistic battles. Battles with heft and consequences to them, yes, but not realistic.
No, the show isn't perfect, but I enjoyed it immensely, and overall enjoyment is what I look at it when I rate something. In that respect, this show more than earns a 10 from me. I can't recommend it enough.
