I completely understand. I tried to do that(not engage on any sm) last week. I literally lived like a monk... and I still bombed my exam 😭... This week has honestly been awful for me from an academic standpoint.
Good luck on your studies tho. Hopefully, you won't be so busy that we don't come across each other during forum games and such.
This is kinda random but I just wanted to know if you'd like to join a discord server. A bunch of ppl you may or may not know from MAL are on there and we just kinda hang out and talk about anything and play games as well.
That's fair. I don't think I realized how bad it was gonna be when I was younger, so I kept reading them. Character deaths shook me for awhile but I think I was too invested to stop lol
I got a very slow start to reading them when they were popular, making up for lost time reading all the books now. I've never heard of people being traumatized over them, but now that I think about it, I'm surprised we all weren't. They were pretty graphic for kids books 💀
These are the shoujo with the best character developement (imo) and are free of that over-the-top "comical" violence
- Orange
- Futari wa Precure
- Ashita no Nadja
- Versailles no Bara
- Lady Georgie
I'd list more but i'm not that well-versed in shoujo either 😅 these are all ones i grew up watching, exept for Orange which is one of the few modern shoujo i really enjoyed
As a bonus i'll throw in Aishite Knight, it's pretty cute, though it's not the best at portraying character growth
And as you can see i'm quite enjoying Fruits Basket (2019), but it does have one supporting f-character who does the beating up m-character gag aaand... the Souma clan has some unconventional family dynamics that might be a turn-off for some, though i will say so far that aspect is pretty well executed and not made weirder than it already is
I also noticed you have Banana Fish on-hold, which i can understand if it's not your cup of tea as it does cover really dark and uncomfortable topics, but if you do decide to give it another go i promise you it is one of the best written psychological anime out there, it also doesn't show any off the gruesome stuff on-screen rather focusing on the psycological effects such things can cause
Some people like Isekai and some people don't. The important part is how you interact with things you don't like.
It is okay not to like something as long as you don't hate on those who do.
Demon slayer is something I also find enjoyable.
You should mairimashita is such a nice show.
I always love a wholesome show so usagi drop is probably something for me. And for dennou coll is is not the genre I mostly watch but it is worth a shot and if you say it is good is is probably good

Also happy to see a fellow Kaguya-hime fan! It really is unfortunate how underrated it is, such a masterpiece.
I have to admit I have not read the manga.
Haha no hurry. Just watch it in your own pace and when you feel for it.
They are definitely going on my to watch list
