Possible spoilers???
I really wanted to like this series. It has a cute design, the animation is decent--not the best, but I liked it enough--and I really liked the music. There's only one thing that made me hate this enough to drop it.

Story: 4/10
A teenage hikkikomori with musical talent has accepted the task of helping three orphan girls hold a concert at the church by the end of May. A decent plot. There isn't too much going on, it's simple enough to understand what the main goal is for the series.
I don't really hate anything about this portion of the show. Again, it isn't the
...
best, but it's not the worst. It's decent.

I liked the design of everything! I thought the girls were very cute, though I just thought it was weird how they were the only ones dressed in such fancy/lolita clothes. Then again, they are little girls.
Animation was better than other shows I've seen this season. I would've given it a higher scoring if it was just a little more refined.

Sound: 8/10
It was great. I like the kind of music they were playing in this show, though I do love most genres of music.
They made each song fit well to the scene, and I really have little to no problems, here.

Character: 3/10
This was my main problem.
The characters are textbook, and are nothing but that one trait.
You have the hikkikomori teenage boy. He doesn't leave his home often, stays in his room, refuses to go to school because of his social anxiety, and plays music as his outlet. That's the only difference he has to other characters like him.
Then there's his little sister, a tsundere that gets salty when her Onii-Chan(TM) talks to another girl and not her. Just... why? It's so overused and boring.
You have the three orphan girls.
Jun, a shy, girly, extremely high-pitched girl that will cry at the drop of a hat. Her voice is akin to nails on a chalkboard. I just couldn't like her outside of her character design.
Sora, a quiet, emotionless girl that's always sleepy. She is a mirror of Shiro from No Game No Life, personality wise. Er, her lack thereof.
And finally, Nozomi. A tsundere. That's it.
They are just bland, to me, annoying, honestly.

Overall: 5/10
The fanservice was just obnoxious. I love panty shots and perverted/comedic context as much as the next guy, but I just have a problem with it when it comes to elementary school girls. That, and it was just so often, I couldn't go five minutes without some kind of fanservice!
I was really liking this show while watching episode one. I was tolerating Jun's voice, which was, at the time, the worst thing about the show so far. Then at the end, they ruined it.
I just can't get used to the fanservice, and Jun's voice just gets more and more annoying.
I might give it another chance when all 12 episodes are out, but I doubt it.

Kimi ni Todoke was one of the first shoujo manga series that I read when I first gained a strong passion for anime and manga. So I couldn't really hold such a strong opinion of it when reading, or watching it.
However, coming back to it now, and going over it once again, I never got to see just how amazing this series really is.
Story: 8
I won't say it is a perfect story. However, I haven't really seen anything like it through my years of reading manga and watching anime. A girl known for being creepy when it comes to her appearance and behavior,
...
is suddenly thrown into situations beyond her ability, at first. Making friends, beginning conversations, people thanking her instead of apologizing and running off... all because of the popular boy in class, Kazehaya.
It shows realistic emotions, realistic love.... it isn't super flashy, or way out there in terms of the story. It's slow, yes, but it is a bit of a breath of fresh air compared to fast paced, in your face shoujo manga.
Art: 10
The art style for Kimi ni Todoke was, and still is to this very day, my favorite art style. It is easier for the eyes to look at, and it isn't so exaggerated and huge. Most shoujo manga have girls with large eyes and unrealistic expressions. Kimi ni Todoke is more soft, with real expressions. I don't have anything negative to say about it, really.
Characters: 9
Like the story, I won't sit here and say that the characters were absolutely perfect. But they were well done. Character development was nice and slow, at a proper pace. They weren't all indecisive and useless, they all had their own ways of figuring things out, and knew what they wanted to do.
Enjoyment: 10
I never not enjoyed reading the manga, or watching the anime. I always had a smile on my face, and I always got so excited seeing Kazehaya and Sawako together. The reactions they had for one another was so real, so authentic, it felt like someone could experience the same emotions shown throughout the series.
Overall: 9
I highly recommend this series. It is simple, and easy to look at. It is romance between two unlikely people, going through the struggles of self acceptance, high school, and enjoying the company of Maru-chan.

Fruits Basket is one manga series I will never forget. With its unique story that just sucks you in, it certainly didn't take too long before it became my favorite series of all time. And to this day, after years of reading it, it still is a favorite of mine.
It was only recently that I found out about this "continuation" of the series, with the next generation of the Sohma kids. I was a bit reluctant reading, however. The manga ended so well, and in such a satisfactory manner, that I just didn't think it needed to have a continuation (I mean, aside from your
...
initial 'I just want to see their day to day lives now!' phase after a series ends).
Though I finally got down to it, and read it. After all, it was a continuation from a beloved series that I just loved!
Safe to say, I felt... disappointed, when I finished reading it.
Story: 5
The story of this continuation was, essentially, the same thing as the original, but the roles reversed. Mitoma, a shy and sweet girl, being hated on and abused. Suddenly the Sohmas' come in, and they turn her towards a new lease on life, in hopes she can better herself and come to terms with who she is! You see where I'm getting at? It's the same thing.
The story felt rushed in some of the sections here and there within most, if not all, chapters, and you never got to fully understand what was truly going on; and right as you were beginning to comprehend it, the plot was onto another section that didn't really go along with the last part. It was just too clustered, never giving you the time to understand what was happening, or why it was happening.
Art: 8
As this was done after the Fruits Basket series ended, the art is much better compared to when the original series began. It being my favorite manga style, I have no complaints!
Characters: 4
I was never able to attach to any of the characters present in this series. Even though Mitoma was the main protagonist, and had the most backstory, I just couldn't find myself wishing to protect her, or really... feel bad for her. She was bullied and generally hated, and it is well understood from the very beginning. But why? Why was she always hated, friends and family alike? You never get a full explanation, or when there "is one," you're still confused.
Near the end, it just threw a group of Sohma family members, how they're related, and a general assumption of what their characters are like. And that's the problem.
Throwing so many characters in at the last second is a bad thing to do, because you never remember them, and they're just... unimportant to the story at hand. This was a story of Mitoma (basically) trying to better herself, with the aid of Hajime Sohma, and Mutsuki Sohma. The other characters didn't matter, aside from basically going 'Yeah, we're the children of the main characters of the original series!" Riku and Sora showed some form of importance, but not much--they were main side characters, at best, and the others seemed to just be filler.
Enjoyment: 5
I did enjoy this to some extent. I found it interesting to see the lives of the next generation of my favorite characters, but IT wasn't all that great.
Overall: 5
Fruits Basket: Another was a continuation of something that ended well. And due to that, there really wasn't much to go off of to make a proper storyline. The curse was broken, everyone achieved the happy ending and life that they wanted at the end of the story. Even Akito recieved her happy ending. What else could you make of the series aside from making comics of their everyday lives?
This might've been interesting, had it been set in the same time as Kyo, Yuki, Tohru, and others. Of course, they wouldn't be the same characters, but perhaps if it had been about some students trying to crack down what exactly was happening with the Sohmas', it could have gotten to be very intriguing. Of course, I am no writer.
It was mediocre, at best, and I just couldn't help but just lose my sense of satisfaction. I will certainly continue reading once new chapters are released, but as of now, this is not a favorite of mine.
