+ The plots are the same, with them fighting again unknowns/aliens. + The music are great in both, however I liked macross frontier's more. - The plot in macross frontier is more fleshed out, i feel. - There is no triangle relationship in QC, which is in MF. Less romance orientated in QC. - More actual fighting in QC, rather than singing in MF.

+ Both tries to protect their world from a foreign danger + Both uses magic + Both surround the topic of friends + Amane (AV) reminds me of Nanoha (MGLN), both tries too hard in secret but is always cheerful and positive on the outside to prevent people from worrying. It's heartbreaking sometimes, from the first few eps of AV and the incident after MGLN A's. They are voiced by the same voice actress, Tamura Yukari. Which is why I got a huge sense of nostalgia for MGLN when Amane talks in the beginning, as they even have similar personalities. - AV has a tad bit too much fanservice compared to MGLN. Since I'm still watching AV, can't be too sure about this. In my opinion, the storyline progression/ character growth is better in the MGLN trilogy. Song too (Nana Mizuki bias). But AV world is more diverse. If AV is good, don't mind trying MGLN.

...then you might like Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka? add

Both features slice of life comedy with a group of girls. Both guaranteed to bring a laugh with their silly antics. Their group dynamics and personalities are different from each other, but it still gives a similar feel. k-on is in a music club setting, and gwudk is in a cafe setting.They don't get too in-depth into music/coffee-making, but there's still a bit of reference. If you love one of them, you would definitely like the other.

...then you might like Ghost Hunt add

Both gives a creepy scary feeling when trying to solve a case, especially an eerie case. Both shows takes you on a journey on how the case is solved. However, ghost hunt is about solving cases due to the supernatural, and detective academy Q is total logic.

...then you might like Aoharu x Kikanjuu add

Both MCs are really good at something ( AxK survival game, YP cycling) without even realizing it. They meet good friends/teammates, which helps bring out the potential in them, which makes them strive to be the best they can be in order to thank their friends in return.

If you liked Sakura Trick add

...then you might like Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid add

Both involves a lot of kissing between girls. Though valkyrie is more mature, while sakura trick is softer.
