I just watched the 1989 ONA Cipher and I have no idea what to say, this anime is unexplainable, sure it has a plot and a somewhat cohesive story, but there is something about this that I truly can't wrap my head around, whether it's good or bad I can honestly say I've never watched anything like this anime.
So the story is basically this, there are two twin brothers who pretend to be the same person, and a girl at their school I think finds out about it and wants to be their friend or something... Shiver the one brother is a famous actor
...
currently shooting a football movie called "Winning Tough" and the other brother Cipher is a musician. Well this movie is an absolute disaster, I honestly don't think Einstein could wrap his head around this movie and I don't think that it is in a good way either, it is so confusing but I don't know why, I've never been more confused watching a film before.
Something I genuinely liked about the movie was the soundtrack, it was good, classic 80's songs from great artists like Phil Colin's. The voice acting on the other hand is dreadful, some of the worst I've ever heard, this makes the original Devilman series of 1987 look like acting greatness. I did believe the soundtrack gave it some sort of charisma I guess.
The animation was awful, yes even for the time period. Not much else can be said about the animation though, it wasn't a unique art style and it was just plain horrible, the movement was stiff, colors looked ugly, and the art in general wasn't terrible but definitely wasn't good.
I've been putting it down but I do think there is something different about this ONA, it genuinely did intrigue me in this weird way I can't explain. I am not saying it is good or anything, I'm just saying their truly is something about this that I just couldn't wrap my head around, it kind of left me speechless. I mean it still sucks though... right?

Akira is known to be a masterpiece that changed anime as it is today, and where I can agree that it definitely did change anime I just can't see why. Akira has an interesting plot but the execution is done poorly in my opinion. Now for those of you that are mad that I'm bashing on Akira calm down, I enjoyed the movie and saw why it is popular, I just didn't see why it was so popular. The movie has some parts I really liked about it, the main character Kaneda, the battle between Tetsuo and Kaneda, the fluid animation, the ending, etc. The
...
animation was fantastic but, seeing every character have the same face really destroyed the credibility of the animation in my eyes. The sound was nice and the editing was great, but when it comes to a soundtrack there wasn't really anything that stood out to me. When it comes to the story it was good, but not great, I found myself being lost in the movies confusing pacing. But by the last hour of the movie I figured everything out and was sincerely enjoying it. I loved the ending I think it ended perfectly and I think the ending alone pushed the movie up to a 7 for me. In conclusion Akira is good movie, but that's all I got from it, I didn't see why it should be in talks for greatest anime movie and I didn't see why it was so influential

A fine manga, and a solid sequel to Devilman, I enjoyed the plot and the characters apart for them making Akira's far more one dimensional was good. Had a couple good fights, Devilman vs Jinmen part two was awesome, Devilman vs Hades was alright. The beginning of the manga was captivating and very interesting but it kind of gets a lot worse in time, and I didn't like the Mazinger Z crossover. The art was really good, the new look of Akira in the manga series worked out really good. In the end though I was left with a fine sequel to Devilman.

Not much can be said about this show that hasn't already. I finished this anime about a month ago and now finally decided to write a review, Meaning that this anime has not left my mind... Not even close. I can honestly say this anime changed my life, for one reason, the message. The message it spreads of empathy and war prevention and how any of us can be the worst a person can be, but also the best. Probably my favorite part of the show is Akira Fudou the main protagonist. He is an empathetic man who only cries for other people. And to
...
me, that is truly beautiful. Crying for other people, genuinely caring for other people, this show changed me so much because I actually inspire to be similar to Akira. Also this show for sure turned me into a crybaby, for two episodes straight. To be honest there's not much bad I can say about this show because... there is really nothing I don't like about it, I guess all I can say is the animation wasn't my favorite but I still loved it and gave it an 8. Another thing I'd like to quickly touch upon is the soundtrack, it fits so nicely into the show and the setting and it's also some of the best music in a show I've ever heard. Well finally this show is so great and I would recommend this show almost to anywhere simply just because the beautiful yet tragic message it conveys. Devilman Crybaby truly is a work of art.
