Interesting plot mediocre execution
Simple message:: Love the things you have in your present, past is always sweeter.
Story wasted its time on the fantasy element as it didn't amount to nothing and the entire message could've been delivered without using it. The fantasy element started out great but by the end of the movie it just left as more confusing. The time spent here should've been given to the characters as this took a toll on the characters and made them look as bland as the dry wall. Romance plot is observed but is very superficial, as the only heartwarming scenes between them is on ... the station and when they were discussing the manga.
Music was good, didn't distract from the movie.

RECOMMENDED for one time watch. You won't remember it but if you're bored just watch it and it'll probably leave you with a smile.

Pretty decent. Story starts off with a dark event but it's handled pretty tastefully as it later gets resolved. The main motive behind the story, the end goal is still unknown even at the end of episode 24 but you'll love to watch Maomao go through the events of the anime.The story has enough mystery to hook you in and when you get invested in the characters it reveals little by little there past, and everything in the show is very good, heartwrenching at times but good. Characters are written pretty good and though a little more anime like they do have their weight to ... be distinguished from each other. Jinshi who's supposed to be a deuteragonist in the story is more like a supporting character and we never really get to know what he's actually capable of and is only their for comic relief .But that's all, and that to after thinking too hard as to why it doesn't deserve a 10. I'm asucker for romance so the story was good enough for me. Animation is top notch where it needs to be. Sound design is just perfect Kevin Penkin just hit another homerun.
Well i'll recommend this to everyone who loves a good story. To anyone who likes rom-coms, to anyone who loves mysteries.

CATHARTIC is how I'd describe this one shot. The story is about death obviously but it shows how people cope with it, how one thing that a person fears more than death is being forgotten. You want atleast someone to remember you, to know that you mattered, that you weren't forgotten in this storm of time.
The story shows complexities of relationships. How parents can be complex, how a companion can be complex, how people can be complex.
As always there's also the mind bending Fujimoto sensei twist which will make you rethink the entire story once again and give a new, beautiful meaning.
I highly RECOMMEND ... this one shot to anyone who loves a good story, yeah a few panels repetitive but the whole story has an amazing message.

Waste of time. Nothing remotely good was present in this series. Compared to dress up darling this series was neither wholesome, ecchi, relatable etc. Just a fucking waste of time
Characters boring.
Story did nothing for me, I mean its slice of life but what kind kf life is this that none of us have experienced in our entire lifetime.
Way too cutesy and detached from real life problem, even real relationship problems.
And let me make this clear friends don't talk like that amongst each other. Either make a realistic friendship or make it a same sex relationship but don't do whatever rhe fuck all of it ... was.
Shounen stuff's just getting on my nerves i guess but i dont think even anyone underage would enjoy this

This is a masterpiece and only due to some technicalities my overall score comes up to a 9.4 but trust me the story and characters will hit you...hard.
The story begins in the most unique way. I just loved the opening. Then we got to know the rest of the characters. Every character in this movie is multi-faceted and complex to the core. Now lets get into the meat of this:: The cheating mother. I don't know what to say about it, tbh I think Makoto treated her in the right way but there wasn't any information from her side. His father definitely knows about it ... but decided not to act on it because of the suicide attempt( fishing lunch scene? I guess). This makes the father a much more greater human being than probably me because eventhough they explained it to me her reasons for doing it I still won't accept it. The fact that there wasn't a proper ending to this line was negative for me. Atleast this story shows the correct consequences of Cheating, which is much more than what doujins and hentai show us😂 everyone has a conscience and the guilt of stuff will eat you up. But still i hated the act of the mother but the mother's character as a whole was amazing.
Also the story seemed to speed up suddenly after crossing the 1 hr 30 min mark which took me out of it.
The artwork was fantastic. Use of real photos and then slowly blending to animation was beautifully done. The opening sequence itself shows the potential of this movie.
The sound design was pretty good as well. The use of no music at times gave the sense of uneasiness and using music at certain moments by swelling it to a crescendo just shows the artistic side of the sound director. Still I felt needing for more.
Characters as said were amazing wont change any of them.
Enjoyment to me was mixed. It isn't a movie which you end with feeling cheerful and happy, No it leaves tou melancholic and with a sudden urge to appreciate the people around you. Ofcourse that's an amazing thing to go for, but personally I've a sweet spot for wholesome happy and sugar drowsed ending.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to anyone who feels like its better to just end it than suffering any longer. Well actually anyone can enjoy it, wig the way the current world is I doubt anyone who won't relate to this movie.

I didn't understand it at all but i felt things. I sometimes caught on to it but never fully grasped the entire thing. I still don't know why Nozomi chose Asakaze? Why Nagara still ended up being alone? Nothing changed. He gave so much for Nozomi he probably could've haf another Nozomi in that Drift world but for no reason they returned to this shit world.
Rajdhani was probably the best character and thanks for representing us Indians it was much appreciated.

Yes the ost and music throughout the series is beautiful and you'll cry like a mofo at the final episode.
Characters are complex ... with multiple layers.

Sorry review is short. I didn't understand it but it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as you'll learn a lot.

Ok i'm not a self proclaimed artist as many others in the review section have already stated to be. This review is from an amateur artist who gave up on art and doesn't have time to make a sketch ecmven as a hobby. Maybe i'm a lazy maybe something personal happened to me, who knows. Lets get right into it.

Story:: Yeah, the story will go as expected. Jock who's good in 'hardwork' looks down on art but is suddenly captivated by it and then rest is the story. The sheer suddenness of him just jumping boats completely threw me off. There also wasn't as much ... resistance from his family, friends etc when he did that. Which I'll say is totally unrealistic. Being a south-east Asian art is regarded as "time-pass", a hobby which you have to give up by middle school? I guess, its 7th standard or 14 yrs of age.
However the joy of sketching is quite eminent as the story progresses. Also the pressure the MC felt was very nicely portrayed as be it in any field everyone has felt that drowning sensation.
I'd have liked a few twists and turns but it was very simple story and too good of an ending if i may say. I mean come on 0 5% acceptance rate and you snag it in 1 chance just by 1.5 yrs of training and he's not "talented " THIS HAS PLOT ARMOUR written all over it.
For such a simple story the dialogues were surprisingly difficult to follow. More than once i had to rewind it.
Also the cross-dressing guy's story was very good however it lacked execution. We also don't know what happened to him.
Mori-senpai and MC had a relationship which i have no idea what it is but it too was not shown well.
All in all its a good story to get you motivated... even if its too much up in the clouds kinda story.

Art:: yeah there ain't any orgasmic, makoto shinkai frames in this series which is surprising as its an art anime. However the few arts which were said to be good i could see behind the reasoning why. Like i liked the " BONDS" art piece. I also liked the sketch he gave to his mother and the final exam art piece, both the "DUALITY " & " NUDE" . Still art is upto interpretation so it'll vary from person to person.

Sound:: was good . As you felt the suffocating sensation at times along with the exhilaration of finishing a good art. Other than that nothing much.

Character:: MC is just self insert. Everyone has faced the consequences of being a people pleaser, trying to live a monotonous life and is waiting for the next best thing to happen to them. But even if personality lacked it made up in the reactions to the various situations presented. No other character of note was there except Ryuji whose character arc wasn't shown. Parents felt more like Parents in this anime for sometime and then they returned to the old troupe of anime style.

You'll enjoy this if you like a show that is nuanced and full of metaphors. If you have gone through any entrance exam you can also relate to it.

I recommend it as one time watch show. You'll watch it for sure but you wont come back to it.

Had heard about this movie. Decided to watch it when i saw it in the crunchyroll awards. It was a pretty solid nomination, kinda on the same wavelength as Josee Tiger and Fish.
Story:: started off pretty strong we were given both the MC and FMC weakness. One feels worthless as no one really appreciates his art and also has to force himself at times to live according to societal norms, the other has to live up to an image and can dare not tarnish it. Both tackle the pressure of social media where a certain type is found to be ideal and you gotta mould ... yourself to it,so basically real life 😂. This was perfect and that should have been the main story however the introduction of grandpa and his request became a sort of generic or traditional route of the story. The kind viewers can easily follow. However in doing so we lost a much more compelling storyline to a slightly generic albeit beautiful storyline. The romance between the two MCs didn't feel at times, evethough the MCs confession was awesome. Amazing use of haiku 👏.

Art:: This was something different from the norm. You get bright vibrant colours and over the top animation and it all wells up so well that you forget it's supposed to be romance story. As you normally get shoujo setting animation in romance story. Lack of realism but so gooooooood.

Sound:: nothing very eargasm like but still it was nicely done. You got the emotions right where you wanted with it. I wish more could have been done. Voice acting was alright, though I watched dub so I won't say much but yeah dub still lacks the natural feel to it as sub does.

Character:: MC and FMC were amazing, as I said they had solid plots and if the story had focused more on them than trying the normal route it would have been better. Grandpa Character was introduced for the said normal route his entire role was to provide a goal and moral support. Same for the other characters, everyone was just so 1 dimensional that I'm sure i'll forget them by the next couple of hours. So yeah not good characters.

Enjoyment:: I'm a sucker for romance so I enjoyed everything from the final confession ato the time when they both followed each other on twitter. I loved the use of haiku throughout the movie and eventhough I watched it dub it felt so beautiful. But yeah i could still see better plotlines and you know 'things that are supposed to happen for the story to happen'- I could spot them.

So yeah good to watch this if you just want to pass the time with something wholesome. You'll enjoy it. The only reason it'll stick with me for beyond a month is the art style otherwise I'm pretty sure it'd have been forgotten in 2 weeks. RECOMMENDED IF YOU WANT SOME HARMLESS FUN.

My actual score is 9.4 but you can't give score in decimals so🤷‍♂️. This story was beautiful apart from certain plot points in the story here and there in the story, which were totally because of my way of thinking, the entire story shines brightly as a masterpiece. Tohru grew up in the 3 seasons i saw her. I learnt a lot from this story. Yuki became my favourite character in the whole show eventhough I didn't particularly like him in the first season. Some character couples I'm still a little iffy with as not enough development was there.
Kyo and Tohru were always going ... to be a couple but the way the show went by it kinda puts me off basically because I always thought that the love I have for my parents is unparalleled and anything else comes after it, so when Tohru replaces her parents for Kyo so easily I was a little conflicted. I stopped binging for a few hours to contemplate everything. Also why Tohru chose Kyo and not Yuki eventhough both were kind to them, I mean Yuki gave her a place to live, saved her in the past etc but Kyo was just there to listen to her when she felt sad was all a coincidence, I mean Yuki would've responded in a similar fashion. And as i write this I realise if Yuki hadn't left The estate that day then Kyo would've been the one to find her....so you see I myself am conflicted😂. I also love Yuki × Mchi it actually makes more sense than Yuki and Tohru.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT BCOZ NOT ONLY IS IT A GOOD SHOUJO ANIME IT SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT LIFE AND I KNOW THERE'S SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE IN THIS.

Well let me get this straight i didn't really see the description properly and went into thinking it was a normal show......until one of the guys just randomly changed into a fuckin animal. I literally did a face palm🤦. Traps littered everywhere and I have yet to see a good explanation for it.
Now that I've got that done lets breakdown the show.
Story:: That's probably the best part if not for characters. Like you can see why its called a classic as several of its troupes have been copied into different stories. Apart from the supernatural element, the story is such a fantastically written. Like ... normally its just ok we've got the 2 guys fighting for the Fmc added some traps, a little bit of love rivalry, so called friends just playing cameos as soon as story starts but no this went hard without spoiling the show went deep down into familial problems, how difficult it is to trust people, bullying and yet not to get swayed by them. It teaches us perseverance. Ofc the romance is gonna be awesome i mean you came for it right, but it's not like you will get it easily. The characters are made super dense on those aspects but rightfully so, basically they all think why would anyone in the right mind would fall for them(exactly opposite mentality than me)
Art:: its not overly generic and not too good either. Normal shoujo anime style art which is basically better than your standard shounen or isekai( not the big ones). So yeah you'll enjoy.
Sound:: didn't really make a lot of impact. Neither the opening nor the ending is memorable eventhough I loved the runs in the notes the singers made. Basic background sounds. Nothing over the top. Just Good.
Character:: let me get this out. I LOVE TOHRU. I never imagined I'd ever feel that way for any character ever but damn she's so good so strong (apart from the fact that she's cute af). The things she's gone through i would not be surprised if she went on full "Eren Jaeger- mode". But what she does is smile even if she has the right to cry, she is kind even if others aren't, she helps without asking for anything. Attributes like these aren't available in real world people and that's why she is the ideal. I love her for who she is and I don't care who she ends up with i just want her to be happy.
Other characters, even the trap ones have been given so much backstory that I was surprised there's total 13~14 characters that got completely proper character story.
Enjoyment:: to be honest i did have to push myself a little to finish it. It definitely has a bunch of cringe moments but come on you are watching a supernatural rom-com what did you expect?
Definitely recommend it.
