This is a show about personality, about how your hobbies and interests can shape who you find yourself around, and how your feelings for someone can lead you to try new things, for better or worse.
Many people can probably relate to the interactions these characters have, as the characters are very faithful to the ideas of youth, regarding love, ignorance, passion, and boredom. I found myself angry at how some of the characters were acting, until I remembered that these are kids, and kids do make the kind of mistakes that you find in this story.
