Chihayafuru is a rare gem among all sports anime I have watched. More so, it significantly mixes a lot of overarching themes that genuinely tell a simple story in a refreshing manner.
The story in Chihayafuru somehow materialize a typical straightforward sports anime plot. In doing so, I can see strings of development among the characters as they try to engage in pursuing the classic beauty of the traditional Japanese game called Karuta. While Karuta is not necessarily considered as a formal sport, it follows that the pursuit to professionalism is exactly the main point of the series.
The main characters are very interesting in
...
this story. As such can be considered because a big influence of the series is the relationship triangle that forms between the three main characters. Yes, a relationship triangle. Not a love triangle. I considered it as such because it can be depicted that the main conflict of the series is the interaction of our main characters as they fall in love with Karuta. This is profoundly expressed by the help of flashback moments in the past.
On the contrary, It can't be denied that there are some sweet and cute moments that are shared together with our main characters which definitely makes you continue moving on the the next episode.
One thing I like about Chihayafuru is that it gives me a chance to appreciate the entirety of Karuta. Its literary composition and classical nature gives a solemn beauty that makes me feel serene yet inexplicably intense.
With this, I can say that the enduring tale of Karuta, the endearing artful characters, and the warm realistic story line threads together a beautiful tale about the pursuit of excellence while traversing along the path of connecting with people.
All told, It's a good watch.
For a note, Chihayafuru is meant to have a second season. So, don't expect the completion of the conflict in the matter by the end of the series. Nevertheless, its still a good ending. Moreover, one will feel rewarded if they continue on to the second season.

Place-to-place. Its title speak for itself.
Story: 7/10
It is a series that is not focused on a particular story, there is random plot,
as what it portrays, one episode is composed of 2 sets of random stories in which tells how the characters interact with each other and their environment. In the story, there are no elements of a plot, no climax, no denouement, no rising action it was just laid out there as it was told in a straightforward yet refreshing manner with a dose of comedy and moe-ness aboard. This anime truly sparks in how it delivers. The story's random as the plot may seem, the
...
way it delivers the story makes up for the comedy was well thought of, and the number strongest weapon would be the moe element
the romance might just be a part of the moe factor.
I rated it as 7 since there is no definite story in it, but since deliverance is well thought of and the comedy is consistent it makes up for what the anime lacks. I subtracted 3 pts since it doesn't really deliver a strong emotional impact except for comedy and moe. it is just a normal story of normal lives which is actually interesting and well laid out that totally deserve the much bigger side of the coin.
I mean, a well-made story should have made the impact of bringing charm to viewers, for example, ideologies or arguments that the viewers might realize while watching the film, but since the story is made to be random, or made to be for moe and comedic purposes, the value one might get in it is can be taken its comedic verses and simple dialogs and not really in the story itself.
It was not your average story, it was artistically made, in a way that it can entertain and give you laughing points to ponder in its randomness. A lighthearted slice of life story that doesn't have a plot line yet it is capable of giving a good laugh and feels in its randomness.
Animation: 10/10
I gave the animation a perfect score since it was simple and light, the characters are made to be in chibiforms it was not too colorful nor too dull, it was well balance and gives off the perfect atmosphere for the show.
in its simplicity comes its beauty, the characters are drawn in a way that not too detailed yet would actually stand out, it is not the normal ones which makes you give the boorring vibe, it is drawn in way you can be entertained just by looking at them the artistic elements of lines and arrows, the concept of fore ground and background and the light hues definetely gives of a good balance in animation.
Sound: 10/10
I gave it a perfect score since the quality of sound definitely complements the animation. as much as the art is well balanced and smooth, the voice actors did an awesome job in voicing the characters. The tone value totally contributes in the moe feeling, it makes use of slangs portrayed in the cutest way possible.
the opening and ending song totally suits the anime, i believe the opening theme was sung by tsumiki's and io's voice actors. The opening song totally gives you the opening feeling for the show, and the ending song is perfect in terms of toning everything down.
Characters: 7/10
I gave it an 7 since each of the character presented in the story are all gives off their own charm. It is because of the character's built archetypes and personalities that brings about the colors of the anime. The story, in its essence is presented in an almost straightforward manner that it might have been too boring if there are bland characters. Each character presents its own interesting and lively side of them that brings about the fun in the series as well as give us an enough dose of laugh about randomness in their crazy mannerisms and ideologies. It is in its characters that the show wins its points but then at the same time, it is not perfect in its bravado nature. The characters lack depth and development. Just as the show entirely advocate their fun by means of randomness and moe comedy, the characters are not set to the path of developing and nurturing change in personality as the series progresses. In their personas, the characters in the series lack the very essence of being a character, if the characters would be the trees, it could be said that they lack roots that are planted steadily in the ground. The characters are charming at most parts, but they can have a pint of imperfection in them.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Is it just me? Because if you ask me what have I gained most of this show , I would say it is enjoyment. This show might just be simply made for fun and entertainment purposes and not so much on becoming a deep drama story about rescuing nakamas and fighting villains in all their wickedness in all its ideology, philosophy, and psychology in it. I had a great laugh and have a great deal of butterflies floating in my stomach and electric shock coming every now and then. This show is a real gem in comedy, as well as randomness. The art and sound I can say, is original and simple which can also contribute to the enjoyment factor. The characters are very entertaining in their own way, one would never get bored of alternately dealing with each character. One thing would suddenly pop up and become funny before you know it, you are laughing and getting the feels as the episode was already wrapping up. I enjoyed it much.
Overall: would be the value of the average of all the scores added up.

Hamatora The Animation is exciting at one point and confusing at another point. Nevertheless, there are actually a number of good reasons why you can enjoy this anime. :)
Story: 7/10
This anime is centralized in a detective-mystery-investigation theme that involves super-human powers and intertwined narratives that tell us an interesting and rather complicated story. As the series goes deep, the story actually becomes crazy and confusing at a certain point, and confusing it actually ends. Nevertheless, I really liked how it was portrayed as a surreal environment and yet it actually touches realistic concepts of discrimination and social systems. I find the individual cases itself interesting,
...
since despite its shallow slash dark nature, it actually presents to be case closed but later be revealed to be a part of something even more complicated and confusing. The relationship of each individual cases is actually a strong point of the story of the series. It is unique in its own way. There is a strong point of comedy shown, it is usually hidden and uninterpreted, which makes me appreciate it. Its arguments rather presents a solid value and the weight it brings actually depends on the watcher's perspective in watching the series. However, I dislike how the story progresses, although I can bear its craziness and confusing side, I can't bear how everything was just presented in a shallow manner. The story unfolds not that neatly, everything feels connected but that's just it. Metaphorically, I only get to see the tip of the iceberg and not much the thicker surface that binds it. The super-human power is actually interesting and unique, but again, I can only see the tip of the iceberg.
Art: 10/10
This is a strong point of the series. Animation was very colorful and flashy. It is clear-cut, the characters are drawn in a way that they match the surreal environment. I like how the series artfully present a certain thematic-action aura. The next thing I knew, everything becomes colorful and me close to schizophrenic. I find it actually cool that the art drove me to much craziness. I liked how the characters are drawn, it gives you a cool and exciting feeling. I have come to love the characters not much of how they develop and progress in the series but much of how they were presented artfully. the art of the series would actually contribute to the "unique" feeling I felt when watching this show and the instant "drive" to finish watching it.
Sound: 9/10
Sound is more than average for me. Aside from the opening song, I like the sound effects and sound backgrounds used in the series. Some of these sounds ranges from eerie-scary-cute. Sound timings are very clear cut and it synchronize well with still-blank atmospheres. I like the quality of sound and music presented.
Character: 8/10
Character development is less likely seen in this anime series. I liked the characters' individual personalities and specialty, but some of the characters' progression actually confuses me at midpoint. Nevertheless, The protagonists of the series have very likable personalities that I have come to love, despite having some crazy and confusing elements. The different personalities presented in a way that I have come to love some, dread a few, and hate exceptionally.
Enjoyment: 8/10
I honestly enjoyed the series despite being crazy and confused with the story. For one, it is because of the artfully designed characters. I like that it was presented colorful and flashy. Another is because of the combination of sound effects and still-blank settings. It is uniquely presented and actually contributed to the confusion theme. Another one is that because of the web relationship of cases and scenes and characters. This is a challenging part, but as much as it confuses you, it actually gives you some certain answers and lessons. Although, I find it shallow and unfinished, it is quite a show.
In the end, It is not one of the best that I have watched, but it is definitely entertaining. I laughed and get shocked simultaneously at some point. I have over a number of wrinkles in my forehead while watching the show, but at some times I also remember smiling while watching the show. I don't know how my face looked at the ending, but I'm certain that it is not a nice sight. I think the show spells uniqueness in many aspects, names and settings are quite the example. Its a crazy entertaining flashy show that gives you an :O in the end.
I recommend this to mystery-detective-investigation fanatic like me or borderline bishie-fetish also like me or super-power and action maniac also like me.

SAO (Sword Art Online) is definitely one of the popular recent animes out there, and I can see why it is popular. I really enjoyed the series :)
Story: This is one of the strong points of the series. It starts of with a very interesting theme, and it gradually dulls at midpoint and put a sharp twist-turn right at the end. However, as the story gradually progresses, another theme emerges and made the whole thematic aura of the anime change. Personally, I don't like the emerging theme that progresses in the story because I have the impression that the series will be an absolute
...
shounen anime in which romance theme would be less emphasized. Nevertheless, I rode on with the story and accepted everything that happens, that is why I truly enjoyed it. Aside from the story itself, I also liked how the setting is portrayed. It is unique and one-of-a-kind. The concept of the story is very fresh and new, I can say for a fact that I can relate to the variables, mechanics, and terms introduced in the concept, since I am someone who loves to play games. This is also a factor that truly motivates me to enjoy the series.
Art: The animation is definitely a plus factor since it is in high definition and very clear-cut. It tries to visualize everything in a detailed manner, and it is quite helpful. Everything from places to characters is very well thought of and sharply defined.
Sound: I love the first opening song of the anime, it is quite catchy and upbeat. I think the voice actors of the characters did a great job, they are able to deliver a voice that is well-suited to the characters.
Character: I definitely liked the characters in the series, especially the main characters. I see the minor characters as an integral point in the series, they are brought upon in order to make the main characters shine. They are the type of elements that gives a better bigger picture of the entire landscape. Metaphorically, if this were a painting, the main object of the painting are the main characters and the minor characters are the very details that emphasizes the focus of the painting.
I can see a character development in the series. I think the whole point of the story is actually to engage the main character into situations that will change his personality and view different perspectives of life. The fact that the main character bring about a certain change in his personality throughout the course of the story is the core point of the series.
Enjoyment: Honestly, when the romance part progresses, I nearly lost interest in this anime. Nevertheless, I tried and succeeded to forgot my failed impression of this anime, and just watch as to how it unfolds. I threw away my biases and expectations while watching this anime, as maybe it is due to this that in the end, I really enjoyed watching it. I don't know if I was satisfied with the ending, but I guess it was just okay. I didn't give it much thought because again, I am not expecting something from this anime, and it suited just fine.
In conclusion, it is an anime that leaves excitement at first, gradually dies down and shapes up simultaneously in the middle and finalizes everything in the end. It is enjoyable to watch because it is action-paced, and though I am not an advocate in the romance part, it just turns good and well. I enjoyed the series and is definitely a watch!
