Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina
This is one of the shows I have bookmarked for this year. It is so sweet I do have a glucose monitor to use if I start to feel wonky.
Storyline: This story follows a cheeky, young witch named Elaina as she sets off on a fantastical journey across the world after being inspired by her favorite book. As with any classic fantasy tale, she’ll meet plenty of folks along the way, from the strange to the bizarre, including giants, townsfolk and even other witches! As she explores the world, her views on her own journey will take shape!
...
All of these elements –plus the efforts of numerous unnamed staff members and workers– make for a seriously beautiful start to a series that feels as cozy as a cup of tea.
But why is Wandering Witch so darn good? Well, let me answer that!
The foundation for Wandering Witch is good on its own: the story is engaging, the magic mystical and interesting, and the characters completely likable. However, the animation for this series is downright beautiful and took my breath away.
Beautiful art can come in a lot of forms, and much like video games, good art doesn’t equal a good story, and vice versa. Thankfully, Wandering Witch’s story matches the animation style beat for beat, providing a gorgeous canvas to tell this really earnest story on. Words really can’t express how lovely Wandering Witch is to just simply look at. Everything feels like it should be in a nice artbook collection.
Whether Elaina’s just in the city or at Fran’s treehouse home, the art is always on point. During action sequences –or even when Elaina takes off on her broom– the animation gets sharp, blending the base art style with slick magic effects that have genuine impact.
However, Elaina’s animation isn’t the only beautiful thing in the series: the music is just as lovely, with cues handled expertly, especially in highly emotional scenes. As stated before, music is handled by AstroNoteS, who’s previous anime-related credits include High School DxD Hero’s theme song “Switch.” AstroNoteS shines here with lilting music choices that immerse the viewers in a fantastical world. I hope that’s a name we’ll see more of in the near future.
satisfying magic sounds into Fran and Elaina’s duel. Everything fits the world quite well: even small, simple sounds tucked into the background flavor the world and really make Wandering Witch a sonically delightful watch.
Elaina finally becomes recognized as a full-fledge Witch, and receives the name "the Ashen Witch".
What more can be said about such a powerful premier? Every element of Wandering Witch is enjoyable, from the stunning animation to the beautiful music and the genuinely likable characters. With a strong premier that definitely promises a powerful series, Wandering Witch is the easiest recommendation ever.
Fans of Kino’s Journey –both the original series and the recent new animation- will find that same coziness as Elaina takes to the skies and catalogues her travels as the Ashen Witch. Additionally, light novel readers will be happy to find that the world has –thus far– translated quite well, and feels just as lush as it can in the books.
Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina is already a strong contender for Show of the Season. Safe to say I’ll be induldging in Elaina’s magical world.
Great story, art, sound and character.
It is the work of our lifetime.
Don't miss it.

Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World
Its actually my top favourite anime of all time.
Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is an anime adaptation of a light novel series written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka.
Did you know that for the past decade or so there are almost 200 anime programs on air every year in Japan? The number has doubled compared to 20 years ago when only 100 programs were aired.
Japanese anime has become a successful world-class entertainment in recent years. However, I have a feeling that most anime works are made for mass consumption. In 2016, numerous anime were produced. One
...
anime series which stood out among them was Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World (Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isakai Seikatsu).
Plot Summary:The series tells a story of Natsuki Subaru, a normal young man that lives his normal life in the modern Japan. However, one day, he is summoned to another world. Without knowing the person that summoned him, or the reason for being summoned in the new world, he soon befriends a silver-haired-half-elf girl, Emilia. Due to some unknown circumstances, the girl is being targeted by an unknown assassin. The assassin manages to kill the two and everything seems to be over. Yet, a second later, Natsuki Subaru awakens and discovers his new ability that he names "Return by Death." That new ability gives him the power to reverse time by dying; however, only he remembers the events of the previous timeline. Why was Natsuki Subaru summoned in this mysterious world, who gave him the power to reverse time?
Description:
Even after dying countless times, Subaru finally ended the threat of the White Whale and defeated the Witch Cult's Sin Archbishop representing sloth, Petelgeuse Romaneeconti. But only shortly after overcoming a tragic ending and reuniting with his beloved Emilia, Subaru learns that Rem has been erased from this world, having fallen victim to the White Whale's Fog of Elimination in the midst of Subaru's death loop. With the White Whale now gone, Subaru and Emilia are forced to confront a reality they never dreamed would happen.
I love this show to death but my heart.. my heart man.. it cant take it! 10/10 INSANE start to the season
Story: Subaru and the others celebrate their victory over the White Whale. However, all of a sudden Rem's entire existence becomes erased again, leading a despondent Subaru to figure out what happened.Subaru and Emilia return home, only to discover that the village is empty and Roswaal gone. To find their friends and save Rem, the two head off to the mysterious Sanctuary.Subaru comes face to face with Echidna, the Witch of Greed, and learns of what has happened to the other residents of the village.Subaru meets his parents again during the trial offered by the greed witch. What starting a new life in an isekai truly mean.Almost never do you see an isekai genre go in so much depth about a main character's past. At most, it will be quickly glossed over with no real substance. Re:Zero, unlike its counterparts, puts real meaning into understanding the character and the decisions MC has made up to this point, and does it in such a way that strikes you deep down to the point where you feel the same intense emotions as the characters.Emilia keeps trying to pass the trial. Meanwhile, Subaru faces a mysterious meeting with Roswaal.Subaru tries to do everything differently this time so that he doesn't have to end up with the horrifying results. Will his plans work out this time?Subaru finds out something he never did in his past life. He faces some unpredictable events during the third restart.Subaru tries to escape The Sanctuary with the aid of Otto and Ram, he learns more about Beatrice.Episode 8 is by far the best episode in the series so far. It started with some questions being answered which raise more questions than it solve. Some minor development of side characters. We get to know more about the situation with Beatrice and we have a great development between Subaru and Echidna. Subaru's voice actor, Yuusuke Kobayashi, should be appreciated more because he does an amazing job putting emotion and pain into Subaru's voice, especially in this episode. Subaru's been through a lot this episode and the ending was quite satisfying and heartwarming.Echidna begins to tell Subaru about the witch who gave him the power and set him on this agonizing path.Subaru takes the responsibility to suffer the pains all by himself so that nobody has to get hurt. The situation gets more and more complicated as Subaru keeps facing new horrifying situations. Can he get out these events in one piece? This episode is what I've been waiting for in Re-Zero. It's a rollercoaster of emotions scene after scene. It contains all the ingredients to make it the top choice for best episode of this anime: character development (particularly Beatrice and Rosewall), action, sadness, mystery, fantastic soundtrack and a spectacular ending. I cannot wait to see what this anime has left to offer.Subaru understands something about his ability 'Return by Death' that he never considered. He gets invited to another tea party with Echidna where he uncovers some important things about her. We know it’s getting real when Subaru bites off his own tongue to escape a situation. That’s such a horrifying thought to me for some reason. I think honestly there’s an episode of Jake and Amir (the web series) where Amir kicks Jake in the jaw and Jake bites off his tongue, and since seeing that I’ve always been hyper aware of the fact that I could bite off my tongue and that scares me. So watching Subaru do it on purpose, it hurts me.
The relationship between the witches is super interesting. They all have their own goals and beliefs and are all pretty morally complex. It’s hard to get a read on them, or to know who to root for. Even Satella, who seemed at the start to be the ultimate evil in the world, a witch so evil that even the other witches saw her as evil - even she ended up coming out looking clean, especially compared to Echidna who is surprisingly a perfect split between villain and hero. She seemed to help and then bam she also took away his test-taking privileges.
And now we get more into the insane mine of Roswaal. He’s weird, he’s insane, and he’s testing Subaru. He’s doing the classic “I’m putting you in a horrible situation so you learn to be stronger!” Okay Nagito. He’s the reason that poor little Petra died, and will continue to die unless Subaru can do something. It’s funny how the first half of this episode was a big “This is the worst thing ever,” then at mid-episode they were like “But HERE finally we’ve reached the turning point,” then the last half of the episode was like “Lol jk it’s still getting worse.”
At the very least, Otto came in to… save the day? again? I think maybe he might just keep Subaru sane for now, which is what he needs.
Action Sequences
There is quite a bit of action as in Re: Zero. It can get rather violent, with enough blood on the screen to make those who feel easily squeamish shift uncomfortably in their chairs.
The show goes as far as showcasing the corpses of dead children! If violence on animals is something you cannot stand – even if they are evil and demonic-looking – this show is not your cup of tea.
Final Thoughts
Re: Zero is an emotional rollercoaster with its unpredictable plot. The show is rich with smooth character development. With gorgeous animation and skilfully created artwork, this show is what you could call an isekai masterpiece.
Story - 9.5/10
Art - 8.8/10
Sound - 9/10
Character - 8/10
Enjoyment - 10/10
Overall- 9.5/10
Re:Zero Season 2: Everything You Need to Know
THE STORY SO FAR
The show's protagonist, Subaru Natsuki, is a gamer shut-in who finds himself transported to an RPG-style fantasy world while on the way home from a convenience store. Unlike other isekai heroes, however, Subaru is completely ordinary except for one magical ability: "Return by Death," which allows him travel back in time to set checkpoints when he dies. This comes in handy since Subaru and everyone he cares about, dies quite frequently.
Re:Zero doesn't totally avoid the isekai genre's wish-fulfillment tropes, especially with the first season's finale, but it does make things a lot harder for Subaru than your typical isekai protagonists. Victories are hard-earned, and Subaru has to face his own personal faults in addition to magical beasts and witch cults.
The second season of ‘Re:Zero’ is a split cour season. Its first half, which consists of 13 episodes, has now wrapped up. Its next cour, officially labelled as ‘Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season Part 2,’ is scheduled to release in January 2021.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly takes place right after Universe Survival Saga and follows our heroes Goku and Vegeta as they come face to face with a new Saiyan, Broly. Is he friend or foe? All they know is that he is aching for a battle and with every punch they trade with him, he becomes stronger. Have they met their match, or will our heroes prevail?
The fight scenes are beautifully choreographed and radiantly colored, with minimal use of CGI to enhance the action. Having watched Dragon Ball Z since I was kid; I can admire the evolution of its fighting animation, the use of certain
...
“camera” angles and panels to accentuate actions and moments. Thought it feels excessive at times (as its typical of the series and genre), you never miss the story being told through the fists of our fighters as the action endlessly escalates with grace. With a feature-length of 101 minutes, I can safely assure you that the main event of the film takes more than half of the movie’s run time. Yes, that’s right. The fight between all three Saiyan fighters last 45 or more (I couldn’t find a way to time it, but that estimation feels right), but it constantly evolves and shifts gears, successfully keeping the audience on its toes.
broly
But the film’s greatest strength is its first act; which revisits the dealings between the Saiyan race on Planet Vegeta with the Evil Space Conqueror Frieza: which escalates to the near extermination of the Saiyan Race. Focusing on Broly’s harsh childhood and violent upbringing; the writers and director take their time and allow the audience to invest in this new character before his encounter with our heroes. Being that the movie is considered canon, the writers expect the audience to know our main characters (Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, Trunks, Beerus, etc); but there is enough information provided during your time with them for you to recognize the film’s leads as someone coming in blind. The time taken in the conflict’s setup makes the payoff towards the end that much more rewarding.
Filled with moments that highlight the creators appreciation of their fans, humor and breathtaking visuals; Dragon Ball Super: Broly is a movie that honors the history of Dragon Ball, its fans and an awesome time at the movies. Whether you’re an otaku current with the series, a fan that used to watch in the past or someone wanting to know what all the fuzz is about; this is a film you don’t want to miss.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese dark fantasy, adventure manga series by Koyoharu Gotōge with an anime adaptation by Ufotable, directed by Haruo Sotozaki and produced by Hikaru Kondo. Season 1 began airing on April 6th, 2019 with the final episode of the season airing on September 28th, 2019.
Here’s the basic plot:
Our protagonist is Tanjirou Kamado (Voiced by Natsuki Hanae). Following his father’s death, Tanjirou supports his family by selling charcoal. Despite their hardships, his family lives a content, happy life. That is, until demons attack and slaughter his family, save for his sister, Nezuko (Voiced by Akari Kitō). It’s not as simple
...
as two siblings surviving a demon attack though, Nezuko has been turned into a demon, but she still retains some human thought and emotion – enough to keep from killing and eating other humans, at least. With no other options left, Tanjiro becomes a Demon Slayer in hopes to turn his sister human again and avenge his family.
Now some detail:
Over the course of their adventure, Tanjirou, of course, gets stronger and learns new skills, in particular he greatly advances his Water Breathing techniques, to use against the demons they face along the way. Nezuko sees a lot of development as well, she does become a bit more human-like, but is ultimately still a demon and must fight her urges to kill and devour, and she learns she is a unique case for a human turned demon, having special abilities such as “Blood Demon Art” (cool demon attacks) and she can sustain herself without eating humans.
Throughout the series they meet other Demon Slayers, such as Zenitsu Agatsuma (Voiced by Hiro Shimono) who has the Thunder Breathing ability, and Inosuke Hashibira (Voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) who was raised by a wild boar and has the self-taught Beast Breathing ability. It’s great to make new friends and all, but Tanjirou’s sights only focus further when he discovers the identity of the power demon who is responsible for the creation of almost every demon that exists – including Nezuko – Muzan Kibutsuji (Voiced by Toshihiko Seki). Not only is he incredibly powerful, but he commands a force of twelve demons known as the Twelve Kizuki (“Twelve Demon Moons”), whom Tanjirou and the other Demon Slayers must defeat first if they want to even have a chance against Muzan.
Tanjirou is a great character. He is incredibly kind, but that isn’t to say he’s weak by any means. Seeing this world through his eyes is what makes the series stand out among other “demon fighting” troupes. Yes, these demons murder and kill people, but 90% of the time they didn’t become a demon as a choice. They didn’t WANT to become demons – they were either tricked by Muzan or turned against their will and Tanjirou is able to sense their deep despair at what they’ve become, allowing us to see what happened in their past that led them to their transformation. Honestly, it’s usually SUPER sad. There are also other cases like Nezuko, demons who fight the urge to kill – such as Dr. Tamayo (Voiced by Maaya Sakamoto, a talented doctor who was converted into a demon by Muzan, which caused her to kill and eat her entire family. She eventually found a way to alter her cells to allow her to survive on a small amount of blood and no flesh and is working to find a cure for demons.
There are demons who are straight up horrible, but often times you find yourself feeling sympathy for them, the way Tanjirou feels and the other slayers have a hard time comprehending. Rather than kill them to destroy them, Tanjirou kills them to free them from an endless suffering on themselves and others. It a show full of action, but also one that strikes you on an unexpected emotional level.
OVERALL SCORE: 10 / 10
Make sure you check out Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, now streaming season one on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
