Right, so the FIRST time I watched this, I found myself impatiently awaiting some sort of excitement, crescendo, climax, action, drama, etc. The show appeared to dredge onwards, with little to say or show for itself. Sure, this may have been the best instance of CG employed in an anime to date... but where was the weight?!?!
oh boy, I couldn't have been less ready for this time bomb.
I've changed my rating on this anime 3 times now. Once while viewing, once a week after completion, and the final rating (10/10) upon a second viewing.

If you're reading this and wondering if you should give this anime the time of day, please don't. Good news for you, I put in the excruciating time to see this baby through from start to finish and I don't have barely any positive takeaway.
Story:2 This show seriously lacks coherence. It begins as a magical take on historical events and progressively mutates into some bizarre lolicon/harem/adventure/almost sci-fi (seriously, what were those weird space lasers?!) without ever fully fleshing out any of the directions it limp-wristedly dabbles in. By the end you're left with a bizarre Cronenburg monster of a plot. Art: 4 Nothing special here but it ...

My first review on this site! so please bear with me ^.^'
Story:10/10 those who enjoy a typical modern storyline (intro -> problem -> increasing action -> climax -> resolve) will be somewhat disappointed as this story follows a Shakespearean circular storyline, resulting in the ending resembling the beginning and characters remaining somewhat static throughout their trials. The storyline is somewhat accurate to a realistic depiction of human behaviour and I personally appreciate that above romanticizing and idealizing human behaviour. Art: 10/10 I enjoyed the unique animation style and felt the art was definitely above average. Sound: 10/10 Loved the atypical soundtrack! Great soul tracks that ... |
