Both series have: * Protagonists are introduced in a bar where a once merry/drinking mood is interrupted by baddie * solid world building that creates a distinct world * misadventures and exploration * Unique art style combination with a touch of Dragon Ball * Similar slapstick humor (how do you poop vs. groping/panties * historic setting (pirates & knights) with a new spin on classic stereotypes * a bright color pallet of settings * a rag tag band of loveable misfits * Light Hearted at first glance with a more darker and mature back-drop in the back * Similar feel * Battle Shonen

If you liked One Piece add

...then you might like Hunter x Hunter (2011) add

Originating in shonen jump, and serialized practically a year apart, both mangas have been adapted into successful long running animes that have an excellent cast of characters, world building, and fantastic adventures. They both still have plenty of stories to tell in an ever expanding universe, while still keeping pretty consistent rules previously established, power levels, foreshadowing, never forgetting characters, and building off of the huge casts to create more amazing arcs. Most of the time, both shows are character driven. While both are shonen, both are so tonally different, yet they go in hand in hand with the way they blur the two sides of good and evil - Hunters being hunters, seeking out everything the world has to offer, and pirates, going against all odds to find what it truly means to be free. One Piece and Hunter x Hunter (2011) both are written differently, but in a way still have a lot in common. I guess the closest thing I can compare them to are Peanut & Butter haha. Anyways, give both of these stories a watch and even if they may not hook you quickly, stick with it and it'll be worth the wait. Don't skip arcs because a lot of tiny details said maybe even 50 or 100s of episodes ago usually turn up 200x more important in the long run.

Both animes have a wonderful cast of characters and part of the big three (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach). They're both long running shonens capable of telling a great story, although it might be a bit slow at first.
