Darwins game takes an interesting approach in terms of genre, I would almost call it an Isekai-lite, considering, they're in their regular world, but, a mobile app opens up a dark sinister side of it, in the form of a "game" in which they're all playing. The only thing is, it's far from a game, as death equates to the person actually losing their life, leaving behind digital, square type divots in the ground where they died.
Our MC Kaname, is thrust into this game world, more or less accidentally, when he stumbles upon the application, and starts it up, not knowing what that would mean
...
for himself, or the people around him. The first episode, an hour long one at that, set the pace for the entire series, and showed off the type of world that D-Game is, and rounds the episode off nicely, with an introduction to what is one of the best waifus of the season.
The show follows a lot of the normal shounen type troupes, and there generally speaking, wasn't a whole lot of surprise or twist with the direction that the story went. At the same time, they did a nice job of keeping the story interesting, without diverging from the path that makes these types of shows consistently solid. The combat is interesting, and the method in which their powers are granted, sigils assigned by the game itself, is also something different.
The cast of characters is likeable enough, but, outside of Shuka, they don't stand out a ton, which, in my opinion, they make up for through their personalities, and abilities, as well as what they bring to the table, in terms of impacting the main group. The voice acting was nicely done, no real qualms with anything feeling out of place, although, I must admit, that I can't really nit-pick foreign voice acting, considering, it all sounds nice to me.
I thought the art and animation was also a big plus. The character models are solid, if not very basic. I love the way the eyes of the characters are drawn, as it isn't a very typical anime-esq type of eye.
Personally, this gets a high 8 from me. ~8.8 or so.

Today, the last episode of Season 2, of Radiant aired. In my opinion, this anime doesn’t get enough credit, or recognition. The art and animation are solid, and the story, is just different enough to give off its own flair, while maintaining a lot of things that are common place in the action/adventure genres.
With that being said, let me say that the 2nd season of Radiant did a solid job of delivering in different ways than the first season did. Personally, I think the first season, and the rumble town arc, namely, had better action scenes. However, that doesn’t mean The 2nd season didn’t deliver
...
its own punch, and in my opinion, it brought a more emotional vibe overall, than the first season did.
I think, the first season had a lot of introductory stuff to dig through, and thus, it started pretty slow. It was nice to have the 2nd season just pick up relatively quickly, in comparison. I loved the introductions of the new characters, and the world building is pretty impressive, in the fact that you can see them adding importance to each area that Seth visits, and the potential impacts that those places could have in the future seasons.
I rate S2 of Radiant an 8/10. It’s definitely worth the watch if you’ve seen the first season- and if you haven’t- then I do suggest watching both seasons.

This anime caught my eye early on in the season, and initially, I felt like it might be more of a unique Isekai, based on the fact that seven geniuses from earth, were transported to another world. I thought, that this anime would have an interesting spin on it, because of the fact that characters transported, would have such a vast knowledge of something completely foreign to the inhabitants of this new world, and for a while, it did.
For my money, the most interesting part of the entire anime was the early episodes following "merchant." Due largely in part, because of the way he
...
was able to quickly raise money in a world, where the concept of business was non-existent, it was fun to watch him basically take out the big shot that was controlling most of the money in this world
After this though, I felt like this turned into such a normal Isekai. Fighting, people using their powers to win, the whole nine yards. With the exception of "Doctor" and Ringo, down the stretch, there wasn't really any insane exploitation by the Seven Lights Faith, in terms of turning the world on its head. Doctor was able to cure injuries and illnesses which were beyond the people of this world, and Ringo, was able to single handedly build and invent defense systems, but otherwise, the other characters left a lot to be desired.
The magician acted as the face of this new religion, but, aside from a few things here and there, he was relatively lax throughout, outside of being a mysterious figurehead.
Shinobu or Ninja, more or less acted as a spy the whole show, and despite being a ninja, she didn't seem all that gifted in terms of combat. Samurai, on the other hand, had her fair share of cool moments, but still didn't seem that crazy when all the fighting began.
And then you have the president. who knows how to talk, and is a natural born leader. For the one in charge of everything though, he felt very underwhelming, but, maybe that was the point. His strength comes in the fact that he knows how to use people, and bring out the best in his team.
In the last episode, they hinted at the potential of a second season, to which I'll say, I'll watch. This wasn't a bad anime by any stretch, I just thought it had more potential than what they got out of it. Not that I dislike good ol' fashioned combat and fighting, I just don't think that was the particular strong suit of this anime. I give it a 7/10

Don't call him the demon beast slayer. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT CALL HIM THE DEMON BEAST SLAYER. If you want a nice German Suplex, along with his cat-girl side kick Shigure stealing your priceless weapon, than by all means, go right ahead.
This has to be, one of the absolutely most bizarre ass animes I've ever seen, and I was captivated from the get go. You wanna talk about a unique isekai? This is it.
Picture this. Genzo gets transported to this foreign world, teeming with demon beasts, and a guild house, where people generally go to accept quests to kill such beasts. Lucky for the
...
world, the man they summoned, is absolutely infatuated with any animal/beast/demi-human/etc. It takes the characters in this world, no time at all, to learn that any speak of hurting creatures, will incur Genzos wrath.
Minor spoilers here. In Genzos first day in this world. He German Suplexes the princess, who happened to summon him, and his little dog Hiroyuki, to this world, and takes off in nothing but a speedo. He's mercilessly chased through town, being called a pervert, because of his attire. He runs into Wolfgang and Misha, his first encounter with beastmen, to which he can't contain himself, and he gives wolfgang full body scritches, which puts him mentally out of commission for most of the series. Oh, and he happens to tame a giant ant man, to be his maid, yea, that too. He befriends a cat-girl Shigure, who is basically his sidekick throughout.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Genzo spends most of his days in this world, befriending various demon beasts, and raising them in his "pet shop" which is nothing more than a small house with some cages. They get paid by the guild as such, for accomplishing the task, although, he isn't truly killing any of the beasts.
Everything about this anime was a blast. I found myself thrusting my arrms in the air like a madman several different times, because of the insanity that was breaking out, and rarely found myself with a dull moment throughout this one.
This was one of my gems of the season, and as long as you don't take the anime, or yourself, too seriously, this is one that should be on your watchlist. It's a damn good time.

Houkago Saikoro Club, or After School Dice Club, was a refreshing anime, and an overall nice change of pace. I love serious animes with life or death stakes, as much as the next guy, but, I loved having a show this season where the biggest stakes at hand, were simply who would win the board game the girls were playing that episode.
Past that though, Koukago Saikkoro Club is something more, there appear to be a lot of life lessons embedded within the simplistic nature of this anime, leaving you feeling good and refreshed, and even at times, looking up from something that might be bothering
...
you in your real life.
You see, Koukago Saikoro Club, takes you on a journey of growth, and not just from one of the girls either, but all of them. The board games are generally speaking, both physically present, and metaphorical, or therapeutic in a way, as they generally help one or more of the girls deal with something going on in their life.
Aya, Midori, Miki, and Emilia, are all dealing with their own struggles, and each step of the way, you see the girls confront them, with a helping hand from their friendship, and the thing that brought them all together, board games.
Sure, this anime wasn't the most exciting show ever, but, it did certain things well, and as a result, was super enjoyable. This was a nice anime to have in my Fall repertoire, as it was a nice change of pace, with some of the crazy, and nonsensical animes that I was watching this season.

The third season of Psycho Pass did a solid job of getting somewhat back to its roots. After Season 2, which was a step down for the series in my opinion, they managed to get back on track with season three, with a few gripes here and there, of course.
The main inspectors of this season, are Kei and Arata, who make up a loveable tandem. The former being an immigrant in a time period, where immigrants are looked down on heavily, and the latter, being a mentalist, who is able to trace memories of people, and areas. Kei acts as Aratas keeper, as he generally
...
needs help returning to his senses when he starts doing a mental trace.
Psycho Pass 3 does a solid job of introducing new characters that fit the bill, while keeping longtime viewers tied over on the occasional appearances of characters from the previous two seasons. Namely Kogami, Ginoza, and Tsunemori.
The plot was gripping, and kept me entertained throughout the 45 minute sessions, with a grand total of 8 episodes. With that being said, and the content withstanding, this season felt incomplete to me. Almost like they ran out of time, or budget, and didn't have enough content to wrap everything up neatly, or get to what I can only assume, was the target of 24 episodes. So, instead, they did 8 longer episodes.
Even still, the last episode didn't really resolve much of anything. Spoilers ahead, if you haven't fully watched this yet.
Sure, Kei managed to get his wife out of holding, what becomes of him now, that he's an inspector of Bifrost? How does this conflict with his friendship with Arata, or his position in the Public Safety Bureau?
Speaking of Bifrost, those lunatics are still out there causing mayhem... And to be honest, it didn't feel like they were even remotely close to solving the case concerning Bifrost.
I'm expecting another season of Psycho Pass, and I'm hoping it'll come sooner than later, because there are an awful lot of questions I'd like to get some answers to.
All in all, I give Psycho Pass 3 - an 8/10. Better than season two, but still not quiet up to par with the first season. Here's to hoping Season 4, whenever that comes, is a step forward, and not a step back.

What can I say about Cop Craft..? I'll start off with the notion, that this definitely what I expected it to be, it was very political in a sense, considering there's an open portal between worlds, and intermingling between humans and Semanians, and there's public unrest because of it, it becomes a prevalent plot point in the overall story.
The main focus though, falls on Kei Matoba, and Tilarna Exedilica, who become partners on the police force, and work together to solve various cases.
Story: The story is relatively interesting, and has it's own share of plot twists to boot. Tilarna falls into the roll of Keis
...
partner on the police force unexpectedly, and they work together to clean up the city, and move on to bigger things as the show progresses. The relationship between the two is also ever-changing, and lends to an interesting dynamic, of a human-alien partnership, for the good of both of their worlds.
Art: The art, and character design, was nice. Each character was unique, and had their own flair, as would be expected in a world that's inhabited by different species.
Sound: The soundtrack was well used, and felt fitting in almost all instances, with a detective/police anime, I think this important, because there are so many different facets. You have high speed chases, to racking your brain over a mystery, and everything in between. I felt like they did a great job of utilizing their soundtrack appropriately, and had something for every instance of the show.
Characters: As I said earlier, I thought they did very well on the character design. Not only did they please visually, but, they also had their own very different personalities. It's surprising that they were able keep characters so fresh, with as many as there were in the anime. I was surprised at the character depth, even on some of the lesser characters, whether it was the politicians running for mayor, or the officers in the police force, there was always something interesting going on.
Enjoyment: As I said, this wasn't what I had expected it to be. With that being said, it was still incredibly enjoyable. The build up was a bit slow, but, they do manage some solid plot twists to keep you interested, and I felt like the pacing and timing of those, was pretty well done as well.
Overall: 7/10. Not the show I expected, but, pleasantly surprising none the less. :)

This story, follows Waver Velvet, and his assistant Gray, as they engage in solving mysteries, the main one being Rail Zeppelin Grace Note. I was super excited for this anime after watching Fate/Zero, because Waver and Iskandar were my favorite duo in that- so, a story revolving around Waver was a pleasing sight.
Story: The story felt a little spontaneous to start, they kinda attempted to warm you up to the cast and paint an initial picture with some less relevant cases to start, and eventually it transitions into the main case, Rail Zeppelin Grace Note. It does a relatively good job of keeping things interesting
...
with a minor plot twist here and there, but nothing too crazy.
Art: The art gets the job done. For a story from the Fate universe, there isn't a ton of combat, so in that regard, the art and animation is a bit tame. It does have its flashy moments where the artistic talents are shown off a bit more indepth, but outside of that, the character art and animation was solid all the way around.
Sound: This was okay as well, nothing too crazy, the OP was catchy in its own right, even though, it's not what I think of, when I think about anime openings. They used their soundtrack effectively to portray the feeling of mystery, or danger, when it was prevalent. The voice acting was good as well, but nothing too insane.
Characters: I loved the character work here, and, I hope to see Waver and Gray again in some other rendition of the Fate series. I loved the cameos of characters from all the branches of Fate, you had characters from Apocrypha show, some from Grand Order, and of course, the main character being from Fate Zero. It was a joy to see characters show up, and tie into this side branch.
Enjoyment:I really enjoyed this anime, I think it got a tough bill of goods, considering, it was always watched right after Kimetsu no Yaiba on Saturdays, but, in it's own right, it was solid. Like I said, the story follows some of my favorite characters in the entire Fate universe, so, i might be slightly biased based on that.
Overall: It gets a 7/10. I think, the score is just a bit lower, because everything was a bit tame for the Fate universe, you had tie ins, and explanations of things that happened in that world, but, there wasn't a ton of action revolving around that. I'm hopeful that we'll get to see some of these characters again, when Fate Grand Order kicks off in the fall season.

For the past two seasons of anime, I've had the pleasure of watching Kimetsu no Yaiba, for me, there was never a dull moment. My first time watching the opening, and seeing the art, I thought to myself, they surely can't consistently have artistic and animation quality of that level right?
Story: The show grips you immediately, places you in the shoes of Tanjiro, who lives in the mountains with his mother and siblings. He takes care of his chores to help the family survive; gathering wood, trips to town to sell and buy goods for the family, etc. One day, he returns to find his
...
family brutally slaughtered by demons, the only one clinging to life, his sister, Nezuko, this begins their journey. While searching for a way to turn his sister back into a human, they become entrenched in the demon slayer corps, and their battle against not only the demons, but against Muzan and the twelve Kizuki as well.
Art: Man, it's good. A little too good if you ask me. It leaves me questioning whether or not UFOtable can keep up this level of animation throughout the full length that this anime ends up running. I'm not very artistic, nor do I have a ton of knowledge of the techniques, but whatever technique they use for drawing the elemental breathing technique stuff, is absolutely breathtaking. It makes the fight scenes stand out from every other anime in my opinion- because it hasn't really been done before, at least not at this level of quality, as far as I know.
Sound: They hit you in the mouth right off the bat with the kickass Gurenge by LiSA, and the music choices throughout the show always fit the mood, and felt incredibly cinematic. The voice acting was spot on as well, you could generally feel the emotions when they were present.
Characters: Man, the cast of characters in this anime, was outstanding. Of course, you have Tanjiro and Nezuko taking the lead, but, they did such an amazing job of making every character that joined the fray have their own personality and emotions, generally from their past. You don't find many animes where they genuinely make you feel for almost every villain that's encountered along the way, but they made it happen with this. It played to the idea that "maybe demons aren't all bad" because you had moments in their deaths, where you could see the very human side of them. It was incredibly well done.
Enjoyment: As someone who works weekdays, this anime made my Saturdays even more enjoyable. I was able to roll out of bad after 10am, plop on the couch, and allow myself to get lost in the story that is Kimetsu no Yaiba. I consider this a Spring anime, because of when it started, so, it easily took the cake as my favorite anime of the Spring, and that carried over into the Summer as well, although, the competition was quiet a bit higher in the summer IMO.
Overall: 10/10 easy. It's uncommon when I have an anime that just gets a 10 in my mind with little to no thought behind it, and that was the case here. It just felt so obvious to me that it was a 10, with just how much I enjoyed this show. I look forward to the movie, and hopefully numerous seasons to come.

GRANBELM was my very first mech anime, that I can remember anyway (Im sure I watched episodes of Gundam here and there growing up, but don't remember any of it very clearly). For me personally, I don't consider myself to be much of a mech type anime fan, but this was pretty solid. I have my gripes, but, it was a show I looked forward to regularly.
Story: The story follows Mangetsu and Shingetsu, and their parts in a magical mech battle that occurs every full moon, until there's only one person remaining. At that time, the winner has their wish granted. This is called GRANBELM.
...
This lent itself to a nice mix of action and character development and regular world stuff. It was fairly well balanced in my opinion, and you got to see each characters fighting spirit, as well as their regular personality as a human being. They did a pretty solid job of tossing in a few plot twists here and there as well, to keep you on your toes.
Art: The character design was solid. All the girls were visually interesting, and unique. For me personally, I'm only giving the art a seven, because of the mech design. In my opinion, I felt like the mechs looked like they were designed, and then stretched out horizontally, they had this short and wide appearance, which was unique from your typical mech, but honestly just didn't work for me. That aside, the different realms where the fights of GRANBELM took place, where generally beautiful, and very unique from one another. Speaking of the fight scenes, there were a few times where I lost track of what was happening, with all the fast movements, and bright neon lights. Part of that might have just been that this was generally my last anime of the night on Fridays, and by that time, I was normally relatively tired, and lacked some focus- so, I won't hold this against them much.
Sound: The voice acting was good, there were some emotional scenes where I think the actors did a good job of capturing the strong feelings taking place. Outside of those scenes though, there wasn't anything too ridiculous in those regards. I felt like the sound track, and music was well timed, and fitting for each and every occasion. They did a good job of setting the mood with the right score. Plus, the opening was solid as well.
Characters: There were a decent amount of characters in this, I loved the dynamic between Shingetsu and Mangetsu, the other girls along the way added their own uniqueness, and helped keep each battle unique, as they normally focused on a specific girl or group in each of those fights. Outside of GRANBELM, they all had their own personalities, and backstories surrounding their existence, and their reason for taking place in GRANBELM.
Enjoyment: I liked it. It's hard to judge an anime in a genre you're unfamiliar, because you don't have a lot to compare it with, so, I find myself comparing it with just any other anime at the moment. I had a number of times where I was upset to see the end of an episode, and/or excited to get around to the episode the following week. I think the pacing was solid, and I never really found myself getting bored at all, which is always a good thing.
Overall: It gets a 7/10. It wasn't perfect, but, it was an anime that surprised me in terms of how much I enjoyed it. A few things I would have liked if they had done differently, but, I think that's more just preference than anything. I feel like it was a successful introduction for myself into the mecha-anime world. Thanks GRANBELM!
