Mouryou no Hako

There's the lengthy, detailed talking that happens in both anime. The main culprit of Mouryou no Hako has a goal of great proportions, similar to Light's goal of becoming justice in a new world (although they may not be similar in terms of grandness). One of the protagonists of Mouryou no Hako is similar to Light, L and Near, being very intelligent and also solving things before anyone else does. The main culprit from Mouryou no Hako is very similar to Light, as in the endings.

Aldnoah.Zero

Code Geass is 'The' Best comparison to Aldnoah.Zero in terms of similarity - and here's why: First off, for Code Geass there's two groups: Japan (renamed Area 11), who are basically the good guys, and the Holy Britannian Empire, the aggressors. During the invasion of Japan by Britannia (prologue), several innocent people were killed like nothing. This is similar to how there is Earth, the good group, and Mars, the aggressor - who seek war against Earth in Aldnoah.Zero; in the first episode, the Martians invade Earth, destroy entire cities and hundreds of thousands are killed like nothing in a matter of seconds, literally. Then, there are the Princesses of both anime: Aldnoah.Zero - Asseylum Code Geass - Euphemia Slaine in Aldnoah.Zero is the 'lover' of Princess Asseylum Suzaku in Code Geass is the 'lover' of Princess Euphemia (Both are not main characters) Both of these Princesses seek peace between both groups, in both of their respective anime (e.g. peace between the 11s (Japanese) and the Britannians). Then, we get Lelouch and Suzaku - they were once friends, but at the end of season 1, something happens between the two which is similar to the ending of Aldnoah.Zero. In Aldnoah.Zero we have Inaho and Slaine, friends would be going too far as they've only glimpsed each other until the last episode - and in that final episode something happens between the two as well, similar to Code Geass season 1's ending. Furthermore, we have the Knightmare Frames of Code Geass and the Kataphrakts of Aldnoah.Zero - these manned robot killing-machines are used for fighting each other in both anime. Finally, we have Lelouch of Code Geass and Inaho of Aldnoah Zero - both of these main characters are students, but events lead them to become geniuses - basically, they're both VERY intelligent characters. There are a couple more similarities, but if I mentioned them they would be spoilers. To conclude, I have to say that Code Geass is basically the 'father' of Aldnoah.Zero - without it there would be no Aldnoah.Zero because Aldnoah.Zero basically has almost the same elements as Code Geass, just like a son has the same genes as his father.

Btooom!
add

The core similarities are that they're both 'survival' anime, where the main character and others have to fight for their lives, and that they both are based on a game-turned-real - for Sword Art Online it's that if you die in the game you die in real life, for Btooom! it's the same, except that it's a death-game in reality. Both of the main characters are bad-asses (albeit Kirito is even more bad-ass), they've both got a "lover" who they meet in the game, they both want to protect their friends and they both want to return home (obviously). If they win the game, they get to go home.

I find this anime similar in some ways, but not in the fundamental aspects. First of all, the musical composers are the same - Hiroyuki Sawano is probably my favourite musical composer, every single one of his work has given me great 'chills'. These chills are apparent in both Aldnoah.Zero and Attack On Titan. So if you want to feel the same chills that were delivered here, go for Attack On Titan. I also love how whenever something tragic or epic happens his OSTs start to play, much similar to what happens in Attack On Titan. In Attack On Titan it's a war between the almost invincible Titans (human-like giants) and the humans, who are almost powerless - this is similar to how the humans of Earth, who are not as powerful, are fighting against the humans of Mars, who are powerful. All in all, I really felt the link between these two great anime here.

Shikabane Hime: Aka

Both has a badass female who is human and yet not human, who has a sidekick she hides her emotions from. There are many similarities in both of these series. It's as if Shikabane Hime is more of a modern-day version of Claymore, the only differences are that the "monsters" are different as in name and looks, but other than that they're very similar, and there are other differences too.

Most of it is considered a rip-off of Higurashi. But it's actually epic and even though it's similar to Higurashi a LOT, it was one of the best and memorable anime I'd watched in a while. There's an orange festival in Ookami Kakushi similar to Higurashi's Cotton Drifting festival, there are dam issues in both series - and many more similarities. I strongly recommend this to people who enjoy memorable music, great animations, a calm atmosphere (at times), which then occasionally shifts to a horror-like atmosphere, much like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.

Both shows have sudden plot twists and their endings are both just 'wow' when the culprit is revealed. The main characters' names for both of the show are almost the same: Another: Koiichi Sakakibara Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Keiichi Maebara Both of them move into a new town/village and school only to find out that people are hiding terrible secrets from them. The supernatural theme is in both anime, though very different (one more to do with death, the other to do with, well, you'll find out). One great similarity is how they both make you think that something specific is happening at the start, however, they lately reveal something entirely different is happening or is at work.
