"Color."
Yes that's the word I use. Do you know why? This manga is black and white on the surface, but the feelings and the story are just so much more. I wanted to find a specific quote to start out my review, but this word in the story just stuck out so much more than any single quote.
On that note, lets get into the story. Sure the basis of the story is pretty basic and common (protagonist meets tragedy and meets girl who changes his life), but the way it is portrayed is truly remarkable. This manga will really make you think and besides really
...
needing to think out of confusion in other mangas or animes, this really makes you think of various things in life. I went into this manga thinking it'd be another simple happy read; it seemed to start that way, but you could just tell that the story gets much deeper.
The art was fantastic. It stuck out to me in how it was a bit different from what I'm used to, but it was off and on for me. Some scenes, especially performance scenes, would just scream detail and you could practically just feel the music.
The characters! This is a fantastic change of pace from the static characters of most mainstream mangas/animes, our characters truly develop and start to change. Don't want to spoil. Seriously just read and find out. If you look at it generally, the characters do have that really mainstream, if you will, personality. I do feel that Watari could have used a little more development, but other than that, the characters were vivid and wonderful.
I probably don't need to write much for my overall and a enjoyment, but that was a perfect 10! Anything that can make think this much and feel so many feels will usually be up here.
P.S. listen to the songs they are playing on piano/violin while reading the manga, it really heightened my experience!

Well to start with, this is only my second review, so don't get salty with me... Well... let's begin!
Story:
Well lets kick things off with the story. I won't just copy and paste the normal summary, so just check that out for yourself above. The story, though not completely original, was something pretty different and not your usual high school story. This is not a bad thing at all. I like to consider myself pretty well versed in these types of animes (Rom/Drama or Rom Coms, etc) and this anime was definitely something that fit the bill. Amnesia, a big part of the show for our
...
main character Tada Banri, can definitely make or break the story, depending on how they play it out, and I say they did a good job, I don't want to say too much without adding in any spoils, so I'll leave it at that. Another thing I noticed was how real this anime seems compared to everything else. What I mean by this, is that it is the most realistic story or one of the most realistic stories I've watched. You'll understand what I mean if you watch it.
Art:
The art was definitely not something that stuck out too much for me, partially due to subtitles lol, but it definitely was not a weakness of the show. If I'd allow myself to be biased, I'd rate the art much higher, since I'm just in love with the style of art. I don't have too much else to say, so I'll just move on.
Sound:
The only negative thing I have to say about this show is that although the OP and and Ending Songs were great as a separate thing, I found myself thinking about how inappropriate they were so happy during the more dramatic scenes, but maybe it's just something I'm thinking about and no one else really minds.
Character:
One of my favorite things about the show. Some might be saying that some characters are generic, but we are at the point most characters used are generic, but the characters make up a pretty strong cast. Agree or disagree, but I believe that the most of the main cast had actually made a strong development, which is something most shows lack. There characters are very likeable, but thinking back, some people might find some of them annoying.
Enjoyment:
Well even though some of my review was sort of negative, the negatives really were outweighed by the positives. It really hurt me to have to think of all of those, since I truly loved this anime. The anime was actually very different to what I thought I was going into and that wasn't a bad thing, I was under the impression, just due to the description and pictures, that it would just be a Rom Com with a horrible ending, but when I started to watch it, I real realized that it was completely different from that. It started as something I'd maybe watch in the background while I was doing other things, but as the showing progressed, I found myself to become immersed into the drama of the show. One thing that almost made me drop my enjoyment rating was the times they tried adding in comedy to help relieve the serious moment, which I felt were a bit misplaced, but at the same time, I felt like they were great to have for a quick breather, since anything that tries to be serious all the time usually ends up to be garbage.
Overall:
Well if you couldn't tell from my enjoyment, I seriously loved this anime, making it a serious contender to be one of my favorite animes, check out my list if you have the time, and you'll understand how tough it is for me to decide, since most of my anime is in the same categories and such. SO pick up this anime :D

Well to start things off, I'd just like to point out that this is my first review, so don't go all salty on me if i say something wrong.
Story:
Well everyone pack your bags because we're going on a feel trip!
The story is centered in a fantasy world where the sea just about the most important thing. Everyone comes from the sea and those who still live in it worship the sea God, as do those on the land, but not as greatly. The story is deeply driven by the characters. Personally, I love these types of stories. This anime was an emotional roller coaster
...
for me, which I haven't experience anything similar to it, since I've watched Clannad and Anohana or anything similar. One last thing, if you think love triangles are insane, you're in for a treat! I won't say anything else about it or else I'd consider it a spoiler, but you'll realize it if you go ahead and just watch this work of art.
Characters and Art:
I'm just going to mix these two categories together since I don't have too much to say about the art. The art was amazing, they did not get lazy on the detail. I am a big stickler for art, yet I don't really know how to describe haha. Well onto the characters, at first I though they weren't anything special, the hot headed hero and the childish girl, okay maybe I didn't think it that lowly, but bear with me. Hikari, Manaka, and the rest of the cast proved to be very likeable characters. Oh did I mention? The cast was HUGE! Maybe not as insane as some people would picture it, but it was a pretty good size. For the most part, the main characters had each developed in their own way, for the better.
Sound:
The opening and ending songs had really fit the bill in this anime. I didn't really find them too special, but that could just me. Don't get me wrong, they were fantastic, but they did not stick out too much for me.
Enjoyment:
I'm sure you couldn't have guessed by my high scores and praise, that I love this anime!
Overall:
This anime had everything for me, but though it was really good for me, I definitely don't think this anime is for everyone. I do recommend for anyone looking for a deep story and character development to pick up this anime. Don't just watch the first couple of episodes and decide if you'll watch it or not, give it some time and you'll be sucked into the series just like was. Well, that was my first review, thanks for reading!
