So far I read 4 manga from this author. Flowers of evil, Inside Mari, Welcome back Alice and Happiness, being the last one the only one that I didn’t find special in any way.
The usual eeriness that the author depicts is here masked by the inherently horrific theme and physical violence. I see no psychological horror or reflection on the human being. That alone doesn’t make the manga bad in any way, it just doesn’t deliver the same as the other manga I read from the same author.
What I think makes it more of a bad than a good product is the abrupt change in
...
the story a little further than the middle point. Up to half the story it is interesting, engaging, the characters are advancing in their daily life, the horror fantasy elements advance too… everything alright. Not the greatest, but interesting enough to keep reading. But then the focus shifts and the events and characters are not really that interesting, especially compared to the first half.
Another problem I have with this manga is that I’m not sure what the message is, if there is any, or what the audience is supposed to get from this. As a fantasy story, it’s not really that interesting, and as a social commentary it feels very bland.
The art here doesn’t shine either. It’s not bad, and it has the same style as the other manga I read, but I didn’t find a single panel particularly interesting. Anyway, the art wasn’t the problem for me at all.
In my opinion, adding actual supernatural elements weakened the ability of the author to find horror and creepiness in realistic characters and settings and the final delivery is a not so interesting vampire story that doesn’t go anywhere and almost nothing is said.

I’m on the fence with this manga. Some matches where very thrilling, and the main character starts off as an interesting female protagonist, but sometimes it was a bit boring. There is a lot of technique explanation, and most of the side characters are just okay.
Apparently, the martial arts are very well depicted, and that’s good… I guess. I have no idea about this, and I didn’t care so much. In general, the combats are cool enough, and the paneling helps to understand how the movement goes.
Although the character design and general drawing, including the positions of the bodies (quire complex in this manga
...
with so many martial art techniques) is good enough the art feels a little rough and it can look quite ugly some times.
The character arcs are not that big of a deal either, not much changes. The protagonist is a talented asshole and she barely grasps what it means to respect the others by the end of the story. Do I need a big redeeming story or learning journey here? Not really. I like that the protagonist is different to the usual hero. She’s really good at many things and she’s bored with everyone else around her. Because of that, the situations around other characters are tense and conflict can burst at any time.
I like that about this manga, and it was very entertaining to see the next thing this girl was going to do. The defiance in her stance when facing anyone she didn’t like, meaning, everyone but her only friend, is always menacing, as she is a very strong and tall girl.
If you are interested in MMA I’m sure this will be and even better read for you, but even if you are not, it can be enjoyed.

I have no interest in badminton nor in sales, and I still watched this and enjoyed it.
This show was an interesting watch because it has both the spokkon characteristics, surrounding the badminton team and competitions, but also the more slice of life, adults at work kind of stuff.
There is nothing very surprising here, but it’s an easy watch with some uncommon touches here and there. Both the company stuff and the sport and personal trauma of the characters are enjoyable.
The “action” is good enough, with very decent animation and art. The characters have distinct personalities. A nice watch overall.

This season lifted up muy enjoyment of the show quite a lot after a quite bland second season. The problems of the show are still there, the main character is still the worst character ever, for no reason everyone else takes him seriously for no apparent reason, and the main villain is smarter than everyone else. But the new characters and some of the events happening here are quite interesting.
Lets say that this season is more similar to the first one than to the seconds one. Still a lot of nonsense, but it’s entertaining and the characters are somehow interesting to watch.
The ending
...
is abrupt but, personally, with all the nonsense in this show, that didn’t bother me so much.
Knowing that the ending of the manga has been very criticized by the community, I’m a little scared about following seasons, but we’ll see what happens. So far it’s been interesting enough for a watch despite being a show cemented on a very fragile argument.

This anime can be enjoyed by anyone, as it does have similar patterns to most anime. However, it is true that the central theme and the various climaxes it presents are something so specific that the "general" anime audience, especially those who prefer shonen genre, may find it boring and not get past half an episode. I don't blame them, if they're looking for a shonen, they won't find it here, even though it has all the elements of self-improvement and character evolution.
The main characters, the ones we see in the poster image, have a development and depth that is more than notable. Even the
...
secondary characters are more than just fulfilling their roles. They all have clear motives that drive and evolve the plot very effectively. It is true that there are moments of "coincidences," even the same one repeated 3 or 4 times, but they are quite common coincidences in the world of real acting (the typical situation where the protagonist wasn't going to perform but at the last moment, they are left without an actress and only she is there to fill the role). However, most of the obstacles and triumphs come from something meaningful and lead to something meaningful.
The series consists of various arcs, almost like micro-arcs, one for each theater play that is going to be performed. Although there are changes in the central part that diverge significantly from what was seen before. The formula repeats itself, with certain variations, but it doesn't get boring as each play is quite different from the others.
The astonishing quality of the art, animation, and voice acting is worth mentioning, as they manage to convey the characters' emotions to the viewer in such a way that you can see when a character is acting well and when they are not, when they subtly change their movements or expressions to portray a certain posture according to what they have to interpret. The soundtrack is also noteworthy, with 4 or 5 pieces that are very fitting for the situations they cover.
The art style maintains, to some extent, the original style of the manga, making it appear somewhat older. However, they have managed to adapt that style to the time of its production, reminiscent of the early 2000s.

Fun romantic comedy that focuses on "The Moments" in a romantic comedy, especially in the comedy aspect. It avoids showing character development or their relationships through daily life. This anime assumes that you have already seen school romances in anime and can afford to skip all the repetitive fluff. And everything is perfectly understood.
Rather than episodes, it follows a system of short sketches through which we follow the story of a handful of characters in a school. All the characters are clichés, so we recognize them immediately without needing to see them too much. The scenes are usually funny, with simple and direct humor.
Brief, direct,
...
and truly entertaining for what it is. Far from being a comedy masterpiece, but it doesn't waste your time pretending to develop something with narrative weight.
Recommended if you have seen a fair amount of anime in the genre and are interested in absurd comedy that doesn't become delirious. Perfect if you're tired of watching seasons of 26 episodes just to get 4 or 5 funny moments in the midst of a generic and uninspiring story and just want to have a good laugh.

This anime starts off a bit peculiar, but it quickly reaches great heights. The main story follows a common trope of a socially awkward loner guy befriending a popular girl in high school. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the well-paced progression of events. The protagonist undergoes a believable transformation, and their relationship develops in a convincing manner.
There is a small cast of secondary characters, each with distinct personalities. So far, they serve either as catalysts for the relationship's progress or as sources of comedic relief. While they don't receive extensive screen time, they are relevant enough to the story.
The opening theme song is a
...
delightful piece that complements the show's tone and stands out as a great song on its own.
Don't be discouraged by some peculiar details. Once you get past the initial odd episodes and witness the character development, you'll find yourself hooked and invested in this heartwarming school life romance.

After the brilliant first season, which I enjoyed more than anything that has come out in recent years, my expectations for this were brutally shattered by the nonsensical mess I witnessed. Watching this part of the season felt like riding a rollercoaster (don't you just love it when your favorite shows slowly get fragmented into parts? I'm just thrilled. Will we get a Part 3 of the Final season here too, in let's say, 10 or 15 years?). The first three episodes felt like a long, slow, and rather dull build-up to a potentially good start for a classic Mushoku Tensei magic adventure character-driven story.
...
But no. The ride went up and stayed up... without the frantic and exciting fall ever coming. The stagnant plot turned this season into a completely different anime from what we had seen before.
I have to admit that I still enjoyed it because I like the characters and the world, but the sheer disappointment after a few episodes, when I realized there weren't enough episodes left to actually see some of what the previous season showed, just made me sink into despair (of course, not really, it's just anime... but this was truly my most anticipated show this year).
As a fan of anime slyce of life with romance, this was somewhat entertaining, but it's not what I came here to see, and it's not even a good quality one. The entire season revolves heavily around just a two topics, erectile disfunction and the fact that Sylphy is in fact Sylphy, and their development and conclusion all come at once, right at the end... not even in a nice progression.
Many small subplots are introduced, but none really adds much to the story, and most are either abruptly ended or simply forgotten. The cast of characters around the protagonist ranges from mildly interesting to "who was this guy again? Do I actually have to care?" It's a painful contrast to what we found in the previous season... I haven't read the manga, but I assume they just animated what was there... I doubt that the manga was actually good and the studio said, "Nah, let's do something stupid and uninteresting instead."
General plot issues are pushed aside, treated as secondary stuff the protagonist deals with when he's done with all the unimportant crap he's doing throughout this season. It's as if this entire season was just one of those unimportant moments from the first season, but stretched out over 12 episodes...
My only hope is that the manga lives up to the promising beginning further in the story, and as a result, the future anime adaptation does too. I still want to believe in this show, but it was a tough blow.

After a period of zombie genre overexploitation, this anime is released without much ambition to be relevant in this realm. Having only watched 8 episodes (all the main characters have appeared), I have come to the realization that this series is primarily a comedy lacking in humor, a drama lacking in interest, and a romance based on the most insipid ecchi elements. The zombies themselves possess a mishmash of characteristics but lack any distinct personality beyond bleeding rainbows. It is entertaining to watch due to the spectacle of its visuals, but it feels empty both in terms of its characters and its messages.
The combination of
...
adult life problems, such as work stress, with the foolishness typical of teenagers, like rejoicing over the end of the world to avoid going to work, risking their lives to steal a TV, or attempting to engage in casual encounters with any female he finds, makes it very difficult for me to consider it a seinen or something that someone over the age of 15 would truly enjoy. While many of us have fantasized about being the most skilled survivor in a zombie apocalypse to escape the burdens of real life, it seems to me that this anime takes the concept of escapism to such an extreme that it diminishes the weight of everything that occurs. Even in Highschool of the Dead the sense of zombie danger and the need to survive felt more palpable.
There is another strange combination regarding the actual threat posed by the zombies. On one hand, secondary characters can die within a couple of seconds on screen, but on the other hand, the protagonist is capable of jumping from a third floor, running like a gazelle, and effortlessly riding a motorcycle despite having no prior experience. The zombie apocalypse is meant to be fun, but be careful because you can die at any moment. That is, ultimately, the premise. The protagonist expects to die soon but wants to make the most of his time and fulfill all his goals in life, no matter how superficial and fleeting they may be.
The presentation is smooth and colorful. Absurdly colorful, in fact. At times, it can be quite impressive, but in my opinion, they go overboard. The show treats mundane actions, as the protagonist simply putting on a shirt, with the same level of epicness as jumping 15 meters to escape a horde of zombies.
Once it becomes clear that most secondary characters are destined to die as soon as they appear on screen, I can't help but feel that it's a waste of time trying to understand them with the little information provided. Before you can grasp who they are, they have already died without anyone caring. The protagonist continues to laugh and drink beer as if nothing happened.
In my opinion, this anime may be entertaining mainly for a male teenage audience who only consumes seasonal anime (although the airing has currently been halted). It is very straightforward, with a colorful presentation, smooth animation, one-dimensional characters that won't provoke any introspection, a certain amount of gratuitous ecchi, and very mild zombie violence. It is perfect for those who just want to pass the time without paying attention to the story or getting invested in the characters.

I was pleasantly surprised by Buddy Daddies. It delivers much more than I expected in almost every aspect. It remains interesting, tender, and relaxing throughout its duration.
I love the dynamics between the characters. Between the two protagonists, between each of them and Miri, between Miri and any other character... The ones involved in the crime, the daycare characters... Even Miri's mother has her own little arc and charisma. They are all well-developed, and it's very enjoyable to see how their relationships evolve.
The art and animation are high quality and perfectly match the tone of the series. All the settings have a lot of charm. I
...
loved that there are many details from real life, such as all the logistics involved in living with a young child. The paperwork and the difficulty of enrolling them in daycare, the need for various specific items that you wouldn't otherwise buy, and having everything labeled with their name... They have also made the conflict that arises from living with someone who doesn't want to do their share of the housework.
The gold star is for creating the most realistic characterization of a 4-year-old girl (if not the only one). Miri feels like a real child (fun, respectful, and intelligent... in other words, a minority in our society) in the way she behaves and reacts. They have completely avoided the common and disgusting lolicon tendency that we often see in anime, and at the same time, they have added many details that bring her to life and give her personality. The main success has been adding enough childlike characteristics without exaggerating them.
On the other hand, the premise is a bit misleading, in my opinion. The headline "two hitmen adopt a 4-year-old girl" sounds like a bad joke, but most of the time they are not working. Their work doesn't seem to affect them mentally in any way (Rei has family problems, not problems because he's a hitman), and they don't have any run-ins with the law or with the relatives or associates of their victims... They could have been bank robbers, poker players, brokers, or Vodafone salespeople. It only takes someone from their work environment to hold a grudge against them and cause problems in their family trio to produce a similar effect.
For me, the weakest aspect is the one related to the criminal world, especially the action. Not very believable. It seems like an American movie, with the bad guys shooting far away from the protagonists, who always have the luck that everything turns out well for them. It's not bad per se, but it doesn't stand out and even has some incredibly unrealistic situations. For example, an experienced hitman holds a shotgun, has the protagonist less than 5 meters away, and misses several shots... The reason? Just to continue the series...
There is too much contrast between the two facets of the protagonists' lives. The mundane life of living together as friends and taking care of the house, as well as a 4-year-old girl, is well portrayed. Importance is given to the little things that eventually have an impact and are relatable to everyone. Meanwhile, the part of "being a hitman who kills whoever they are told to in order to earn a living and live in a luxury apartment with all the comforts one desires" is almost treated as a joke. It's not poorly executed enough to detract from the series, but the truth is that, for me, it was unnecessary.
Despite noticing the flaws I mentioned, I really enjoyed this little anime, which turned out to be a great surprise. One of those short, interesting, well-executed, and well-rounded ones.
