Every once in a while comes a show that that questions society and the rules in which we live by. Koi Kaze (Love Wind in English) comes from the manga of same name and it challenge society with the question of "What's wrong with incest". There plenty of anime that have brother and sister incest, but they usually never take the topic seriously. Most anime that talk about incest are comedies or have a sister or brother that's adopted into the family.
Story: 8
Koi Kaze is nothing too complicated. It's a simple story of of brother and sister slowly developing feelings for each other and wanting
...
intimate relationship. The story pace move along the main characters Koushiro and Nanoka growing relationship which is slow, but interest none the less. The slow pacing give feeling that Koushiro and Nanoka really took the time to get know each other and develop emotions for each other as they're put in awkward situations. What is interesting is that the story sets up a situation where it's likely that a brother and sister would want to get together. While the story does pose the question of "what is wrong with incest" and "why isn't love the biggest factor for intimate relationship", the story does not go too deep in against or defending incest. I would even say that the show give more the fantasy of having brother and sister incest rather than question the morality of it.
Art: 7
There were some weird decision on the character design which I believe to be on purpose. Koushiro is 27 years old man, but yet he looks and acts like he's somewhere in his mid to late 30's. Nanoka is a 15 years old girl, but she looks like a middle schooler or debatable an older elementary school student. A matter of fact, all of the girls in the high school looks that young. While usually this would be a bad thing, but I feel that the design makes mood of the story more uneasy and awkward. The appeal of the character design was not strong, but their personality really match with the design very well. The overall art and animation never stick out, but it was good enough to enjoy as a drama.
Sound:7
The sound and music goes well with the mood of the story. The voice actor capture the essence and awkwardness of the character very well. Nothing really worth commenting.
Character: 8
In a lot of ways Koushiro's character meets the criteria of a guy who could possibly fall victim to the idea of willing to commit incest. He's a depressed man who have a hard time falling in love with women. Nanoka is just a normal high school girl, but ends up becoming very emotionally attach to her brother for one reason or another. The situations that supporting characters are put into helps give the two main characters depth to the point it seem like the main character base off of real people.
Enjoyment: 8
The show for the most part was enjoyable from beginning to the end. While there were awkward moments in Kaze because of the topic, it wasn't too awkward to the point where I could watch it. The idea of rather incest is right or wrong was not force into the story, so the story did not come off preachy at all.
Overall: 8
Koi Kaze is solid in all categories. I think that if the show was not about incest and way story approach incest that it would of came across as very boring, but everything came together to support the story, and the main characters.

School Days is one of those shows where you hate it or you love it. There are parts in this show that people can't help, but to love. There are parts that hurts the show and for some hard to get past. I enjoyed School Days a lot and hopefully one day there will be more anime similar to this. School Days is adapted from the egro visual novel game under the same name. Egro visual novel is a game where the player would have to complete a route in order to date or have sex with a certain girl in that story route. There
...
plenty of anime that are base off of visual novel games(Air, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Clannad, etc), but the direction that School Days takes is a lot different from most adapted egro game, moe or harem anime by letting Makoto(the main character) try to have a sexual relationship with different partners. Makoto acts how the majority of guys would've given there were a lot of girl throwing themselves at you in the first year of high school which is a lot different from most harems where girls throw themselves at the main male character, but the male character always do something to avoid them or always doing something to mess-up an intimate mood.
Story: 9
The strong point of School Days' story is how it differ from other moe and harem anime rather than just the story itself. The story starts off with the other two lead characters Sekai and Kotoba as your typical love interest in a love. School Days begins with the usual love triangle story where one person likes or fall in love with two people and those people become jealous of each other and ends up fighting for affection of that one person, but slow the take a turn and becomes something else as the show progresses. The show starts off very slow and painful to watch, but picks up pace a little bit before the middle. While the show is a lot serious and real then any harem I know it do things to let the viewer know that this is just entertainment. The ending was quite shocking, unexpected and just a little bit too extreme for this type of story, but it somehow works because of how different this story for this genre.
Art: 6
The art in School Days do not stick out at all. I think the characters look bland, and they all feel like they fit into any type of moe-ish show (character being made from the same people as Clannad, Air and Kannon). Kotoba and Sekai the two main girls of the show for a short period I had a hard time figuring out the difference between the two in different scences. Makoto is suppose to be a very attractive guy I guess seeing that he has a lot girls in that school liking him, but with his hair looking the that way and no noteworthy phyical appearance makes you question why all these girls like him. To be fair it's not like any of the girls in the show pop out as beauties neither. The animation is pretty much flat throughout the whole show and there is no scene that will wow you at all. While I'd have like to seen some scenes animated better, but I'm not too critical about the animation since it's a school drama and I didn't go into this expecting stellar animation or artwork. They put enough effort into the animation and art to make it work for the type of show it was, but they didn't go beyond that.
Sound: 7
School Days had a few interesting songs, the opening and ending song sounded like a song you would of heard from any moe show given the way differ from the standard moe/harem show. There is a song that is play at the end of the series fit the mood of that scene so well. Besides these examples there is not much music that stands out that much. The voice acting was good, nothing to comment about.
Characters: 8
One of the problem that will arrive in the show is how annoying some of the character can be at times. Makoto personality doesn't stand out at all, but I don't think it needs to for this story. The problem I have with his personality it's very passive in certain situations like where he is indecisiveness on whether he is going to stay with a certain girl or leave which leave the story moving at a slow pace. Even if Makoto would have been more of a bad guy and acted like a jerk or at least lied about how he felt to resolve some of the problems then that would've move the story faster in the beginning and middle and also I'd enjoyed his character a little bit more. I'm also don't see what girls see in this guy personality that make him attractive. Contrary Sekai and Kotoba personalities are opposite of each other which makes up some interesting situation with Makoto as the story goes on. It's also entertaining to watch as Makoto interact with the rest of the female cast as well, but entertaining in a difference way.
Enjoyment: 9
I'd enjoyed School Days a lot and it kind of remind me of when I was in high school and I wish that I was in Makoto shoes. There is some realism into Makoto character that I can relate. A lot of the enjoyment also comes from the fantasy of being in Makoto situation, even seeing the dark side of being in this weird harem.
Overall: 8
School Days has it ups and downs, but it's strong point comes for it's take on the harem and moe genre and enjoyment also comes from the fantasy of being in Makoto situation. The characters personalities could have had more depth. The art and animation in there was not strong. School Days remained very entertaining throughout the show making it very hard to stop watching after a while.

First off, Berserk is one of my favorite, but I will try to be unbiased as I possibly can.
The anime Berserk fights against the standard linear action macho man slug fest characters you seen through the 80's and 90's like Fist of the North Star, JoJo Bizzare Adventures, Grappler Baki, etc and add depth. Usually the trope characters tall muscular man with a huge desire to fight any and everything makes up a very flat story and despite being very violent and gory Berserk has a deep story and very interesting character that develop over time.
Story: 9
The story of Berserk is the strongest part
...
of the show. The overall theme of Berserk is ambition and with the good use of traditional storytelling techniques like foreshadowing, character development, twist, and suspend moves the story very fast and keeps you at the edge of your seat wanting more. From the first episode you would think that this show was a very straightforward macho fest story with blood and organs being thrown everywhere. Yes, the show can be overly gory and sexual at times, but for the most part it fit with the overall mood of the show. The main character Guts easily move the story as he interact with other characters and development more as a character throughout the story. The anime do leave out parts out from the manga, especially the a lot of fantasy element which in most anime would be bad, but it a great decision on the writer part. The only bad part of the story was the ending which will leave you kind of dry.
Art: 7
The art and animation was done in the cel-shaded era which mean it has more of a muddy look which at times give the show some life where at present time too much of the clean digital look makes some anime seem soulless. There are times where the characters look inconsistent from one scene to the next. In some scene the artwork don't look as good as others. The action in it is ok, it's not going to make you jump out of your seat or it's not too bad where you couldn't enjoy it.
Sound: 9
A lot of the music fits the show very well giving the feel of a medieval time. The opening doesn't give you feeling of the show, but confuses more you as you try to figure what the singer is trying to say. While the opening doesn't give you a direct feeling of what show is about it does let the viewer knowing that he/she is going to watch is more mature feel than your average anime by its slow pacing and very relaxing beat. The voice acting fits all of the characters personalities.
Character: 10
Some will say this is the strongest part of the Berserk. In Berserk there is an extended use of character interaction, character development, great complex/rounded characters, unique character design, and unique personalities. As you watch Berserk you can't help, but to feel for the characters. Most people are bound to come out of this show with a character they love or at least can really relate. The characters pushes the pace of the story really fast. A good portion of story is driven by character interact and character development.
Enjoyment: 10
Despite having one of the worst ending I've seen in an anime this was still a very enjoyable show. Even though it's an action anime, the animation is not strong its point, but it is easily looked over by it's superb storytelling and characters.
Overall: 9
The story and character definitely carries Berserk. It's hard finding a story this well told not only in an anime, but in entertainment in general. Berserk remains one of the few anime I can rewatch.
