This anime is like being an adult and returning to McDonalds as an adult after not being for over a decade - Just to find out the taste isn't how you remembered it to be.
Now, with a situation like that, there's plenty of thoughts one could have, but there are three I think would be the most common.
1) "I guess I just didn't remember the taste after all."
2) "Some things taste better when you're a child."
and most importantly,
3) "It's not me that's changed, these just taste different now! I miss the old McDonalds!"
And then you might put it aside and finish your drink, deciding
...
whether or not you should finish the food you just spent your money on - and, inevitably, throw it away. You don't know why, but you just don't like it anymore.
"Shut up about McDonalds Dakota" Okay okay fair enough, but!
That segment is how I approached the new rendition of Digimon Adventure. I hadn't watched the original Digimon since I was in my early teen years. I LOVED the original movie (War Game) when I was a child to the point of rewatching it dozens of times.
So when I heard about a Digimon reboot, aside from the obvious skepticism, I was excited. And then I watched it and it was... off? Like it was out of order.
I mean, sure, that's probably what happens when you show off the STRONGEST DIGIMON in the first TWO episodes, but, hey, it's fine!
The rest of it.. feels like a drag. Like a really, really slow build up. But I eventually, sadly, lost the will to continue watching, and I haven't picked it up since. 34 episodes was all I managed.
Maybe it's down to how repetitive the transformations are. Were they always so repetitive? Are they worse? Maybe the standards nowadays are higher, and as adults, we expect the show to grow with us.
It's hard to put my tongue on what's bad about it, but what I do know is that this new one is truly a bitch to get into.
Truly a shame, but often, a reboot isn't worth it.

I came in really late to the party. I only started reading this lately because I did originally watch the anime's first season, and was excited for season 2.
Anyway anyone who knows anything about this series knows. Season 2 sucked. So I dropped it and read the manga instead.
And for a while, yeah!! I was totally into this ! The goldy pond arc, following shortly after where season 1 left off, with [spoiler]'s development and the progressive unraveling was great!
But.. That's where it peaked. Afterwards.. It kept introducing more mysteries, but the unraveling of them became more linear, only choosing to focus on one
...
or two.
One or two mysteries being unraveled while there was actually like 5 going on? That never stopped, and that's where the manga's story really fell apart.
There's a couple things (that i can't really say without spoiling) that I genuinely feel didn't get explained well enough, to the point I'm convinced the writer forgot. It gave the impression that at some point, they wanted it to end.
The art. I've heard alot of people seem to really like it, but for me.. I couldn't get into some of it. I think overall there were some neat panels, but the artist can't draw faces to save their own life. It's kinda embarassing and makes some characters that should be in high regard look laughable.
But!!! This manga is STILL worth reading for it's good moments. It just has a little salty aftertaste is all.

Sometimes, I get moments where I feel out of touch, so disconnected from the rest of the world, where I start to feel like age is catching up to me. I'm only in my early 20s, but sometimes.
Then I read this and I realized that it's not me, it's literally everyone else. I'm just so... confused. I get it's supposed to be sexual comedy, but the point of comedy is that I'm supposed to be laughing, right? Where's the laughing?
The characters are shallow, and have about as much depth as a puddle, left behind after a 5 minute spell of rain. All to be
...
dried up before the next day hits.
The only thing I can say isn't complete trash is the art. I don't think it stands out necessarily but I can't fault the artist's ability to draw.. Boobs. I mean it's mostly just boobs and censored dicks, anyway. The boobs are sometimes censored but it likes to pick moments of randomly not being??? I guess??? So. Guess if you like those..
It feels like it WANTS to be something, but opted for the "hehe sex funny" route. It even starts with the main character almost being sexually assaulted twice.
You might think I'm exaggerating, even I thought I was for a moment. Thought, even though I haven't been reading manga that long, maybe I'm just burned out a little. Absolutely not.
The jokes don't get much deeper than "That guy came lol" or "I'M NOT GAY I SWEAR I'M NORMAL" which is returned to as a running gag so many times it borders on the offensive side.
Wait... There was a story, right? Something about.. uh. Being a succubus and.. fighting for equal rights for all monsters? Having that kind of story does serve to highlight the issues that comes with sexualizing literally every female character mostly just exist to make guys orgasm. Like I honestly don't think they do ANYTHING else lol. Not to mention the aforementioned gag of calling homosexuality abnormal. It could have been the translation, but... Man.
Don't read this, you literally have so much to live for and you can do SO much better with your time. The mangaka would've been better just making straight up a hentai manga.

Okay I'm not a reviewer but I just feel like this manga deserves a little more recognition than what it currently has.
The art and story are both handled by the artist for Madoka Magica. So I guess if you've read that one, you might enjoy the art here too.
I really enjoyed the characters, and each of their roles in the overall story, both expected and unexpected.
My only real complaints are, I guess not unlike Madoka Magica (From what I've seen, I never read that one yet.) It's really short and does give you a feeling that there could be more potential to dive into the
...
world.
And it ends.. a little abruptly. There's a lot of struggle that could be discussed further with it's final few pages.
You could honestly read this in a few hours! It's super worth it. Give it a shot.

I am 23 years old and I have a big confession to make.
I love Pokémon. And not in the "I'm a big fan!" kind. I only just want to talk about it, this is hardly a review but I just want to tell you to watch this.
I am truly in love, infatuated, and addicted to the franchise as a whole. From the moment I first played Pokémon Crystal as a child, I was hooked.
Why is this a problem? Because of my HUGE bias with the anime. I will be the first to admit, that around the fifth generation, Black & White, I lost
...
some interest for a while. And during Sun & Moon, the criticisms that people had for it wore me down and made me struggle to admit that I was still loving it.
For a while, I thought the anime peaked in the 2nd generation, until generation 6 hit. XY and XY&Z were fantastic. The movies not so much but the series was phenomenal. REALLY kindled my love for one of my all-time favorite legendary Pokémon - Zygarde.
But I'm not here to talk about a series I described as phenomenal.
I'm here to talk about a series I describe as a fucking masterpiece. And I do not CARE if anyone says I'm jumping the gun, or showing my bias.
In my eyes, this anime is perfect.
I'll start with something I'm not very good at putting into words.
The animation.
Everyone is aware of the art style that spanned across the first six generations, and although you can see the differences between the two, they never really evolved. Think about the difference between a Quilava and a Typhlosion. Generation six, being the typhlosion. A fully evolved season that had "cool" slapped all over it.
Then Sun & Moon came along. Suddenly, we no longer had a Typhlosion. We had.. a Litten! It initially looked like a completely different series. Ash, ironically, looked even younger, and it really did feel like it was marketed towards a younger audience. Remember that "younger audience" comment. It shall arise again.
Anyway. While the art style on it's own wasn't that same "Cool" vibe we originally had, what wasn't lacking was the animation front. It still had poorly animated episodes, but what really learned to shine was how expressive and free this new direction was. Suddenly, visually, the anime felt more "fun". Given the setting of the story, Alola, it was fitting. But not everyone grew to love it. And that's okay. It wasn't amazing. It was different.
So with this season, I was half expecting them to go back to a cool art style. But then the trailer hit.
It wasn't that classic art style. It wasn't the new Sun & Moon style. It was... More like a hybrid. It really made SM feel like a test, to see what people would enjoy.
Don't take my word for the animation - I'm not good at describing. Please see for yourself and make up your own decision. I promise the animation doesn't disappoint.
The Story
Each generation has really ONLY focused on it's own region - Apart from a few odd episodes, like when Ash returns to Kanto occasionally. Seriously it was ONLY ever Kanto.
It was only ever Kanto.
Which I really hope you like. They're living in Kanto again - More specifically, Vermillion City is their home base. Does that mean this anime takes place in Kanto?
No. This anime takes place in the world of Pokémon. No longer are we confined to the restraints of what the current video game is. They travel across the world - From Kanto to Galar. And the continuity is as great as ever because of it. Suddenly, we're able to see returning Pokémon we wouldn't usually get, or returning cities.
Or returning trainers. Something so rare for this franchise it's justified to think that every season is a hard ass reboot. For long term fans, I don't want to spoil which characters return, but so far it's been some good choices.
Everyone knows, and I mean EVERYONE knows, that Ash finally became a champion in Alola during Sun & Moon. But this isn't about becoming a champion, this is about becoming THE Pokémon master. And now he's facing a world championship, featuring trainers, gym leaders, and even champions from all around the world. With one goal - Slap the unbeatable bastard Leon off his throne.
And Ash isn't fucking around this season. He's getting a winning streak straight away. He has fan favorite Pokémon that people have been hoping he'd get for GENERATIONS.
His new companion this time is Goh - Which fulfills the "Gotta catch 'em all!" role. His goal is literally to catch them all and work his way to Mew. If I recall correctly this is the only time they've really delved too deep into a character actually doing the series' original goal in the first place.
The Music
For the first time in Pokémon's history, the main composer for the anime has been taken over. Goodbye Shinji Miyazaki. Hello Yuki Hayashi.
If that name rings a bell to you, that's because he's the main man behind the soundtrack of Boku No Hero Academia. And more than ever, the music shines. From the second episode, there's a scene that's pretty magical. And the music not only accompanies it, it MAKES it.
I also think it's one of the only anime where, 39 episodes in, I STILL haven't skipped the opening. There's been two versions of it so far - Both the same song, but different performers.
Anyway, all of this for my non-critical ass to say. I'm biased as shit and you should honestly watch this. It doesn't matter if you've never seen Pokémon before. You probably know the basics anyway - Is there a single person on the internet that doesn't know of Ash & Pikachu? I would be surprised if I ever met someone like that.
Thank you for reading me talk about the anime of one of my favorite franchises ever. It means a lot. Seriously all I actually wanted to do was talk about Pokémon.
See ya!

I'm gonna preface this by simply saying I'm a bisexual transgender woman so I just kinda GET it. I know how important representation of LGBT is..
That being said I constantly have an issue with certain forms of media being seen as better simply because it represents LGBT and you can bet my ENTIRE ass that I definitely count this anime under the "bad but people like lesbians" category.
You know what this anime involves? Girls forcing each other into kisses. Which by all accounts is literally sexual assault and I hate that.
I actually don't know what to say without going onto a rant, but I was
...
really hoping this anime was a good yuri anime, instead it gets praised so much for being one that some people don't realise it actually kinda blows.
The animation itself is nice to look at though, and for those that want fan service... It has it.
This is a lame review and I'm realising this now I'm writing it, but I still hope people can understand my opinion regardless.

I love Danganronpa and ALL of it's despair. So with that said..
Don't watch this anime. It's really not made for anyone.
It tells the story of the first game, transferring a 20-30+ hour murder mystery game (In a similar vein to Ace Attorney, which also got an anime...) is asinine.
How so? Well, the story elements are based around you finding a murder, and then going to trial and outing the murderer through logic and inconsistencies. Listening to testimonies, presenting evidence, and slowly piecing everything together until the big EUREKA where you expose the shit out of the dick that killed your waifu.
So naturally, this anime
...
is here to just... Do that for you? In a way that not only feels rushed, but entirely unnatural. Imagine you ask a friend, "What's Danganronpa about?" and they say "Well, the plot is.." and then they begin to explain the entire game's story from start to end. That's how this anime genuinely feels to me. And Danganronpa is a game that's not only fuelled by mystery, but also emotion. A slow burn and interactivity was clearly made for this kind of story.
Even the animation doesn't sit right with me. It takes an attempt to transfer Rui Komatsuzaki's art style and transfer it into animation. I'm not sure if it's because this anime was rushed, or a low budget, or whatever. But there's a lot of scenes where it feels stiff, disjointed, or just outright boring to look at.
I thought maybe "Is it because the style is bad for animation?" but I didn't seem to mind it so much when I watched Danganronpa 3.
Also, apart from a couple voice actors, the english dub cast for this is entirely different due to this being licensed by Funimation, rather than Bang Zoom!.
In conclusion, the only real reason I'd say you should watch this, is if you played Danganronpa 1 years ago, and want a nice recap before jumping in to Danganronpa 2. But, even so...

So I'm a huge fan of short anime. I prefer to watch 12 or 24 episode seasons, as I usually find that longer stories feel like they drag on for me. Which is why I've never watched most big shonen, like Naruto, Bleach, or One Piece.
But my best friend adores this series like nothing I've ever seen. So naturally they wanted me to watch it and I obliged, with the expected response being that I'd go "It was fun but eh"
I was wrong.
With the way it starts I was sure I'd be right, a young boy goes on an adverture to fulfill his
...
dream and find his dad! Ookay, so it's a JRPG plotline. Lame.
But Gon is never annoying. He's never a bad character. I've often heard the term 'Green Naruto' and that's the literal opposite of the truth.
But that's only Gon. That's only 1 of 4 main characters. The dynamic between the 4 main characters is where the anime shines in the beginning.
I will not spoil in this review but I will say that this anime's story is very much like my wallet at an anime convention. At first it's happy and carefree, unknowing of the harsh despair that's ready to follow. Shit hits the fan. Seriously.
My biggest problem is that the anime, as it is now, ends a little weirdly. It's obvious there's much, much more to come, but as the manga's creator has issues slowing down the manga's output, we haven't seen the continuation of the anime itself either. Hopefully yet.
