I watched season 1 a month or so before season 2 started on a whim, I like to watch anime with mundane sounding premises because they are forced to not rely on their premise and instead have a great plot and great characters. I thought the original was really good (I gave it a 9) but I didn't really care about the parts that weren't flashbacks and didn't like Yotaro, however I was immediately in love with the "piece" known as "Shinigami". Season 2 has no less than 3 performances of
Shinigami, it sounds like it would get old but I found it extremely entertaining ... because unlike what people claim in Yuri On Ice I actually saw and heard the slight differences in the performances (yotaro performs it and his mentor performs it) and there was always plot relevance involving the performance.

As mentioned earlier I didn't like Yotaro in season 1 but in this season because of some events in the story I wound up liking him even though he's truly a Yotaro still.

Overall if you liked the remaining characters from season 1 and you liked season 1 you'll probably like this even more.

Don't watch this, it has a few neat scribbles but they are done by troubled children and displayed in a way that made my eyes legitimately hurt after a few seconds.

Overall: it seems weird and interesting but it's so painful and uninteresting I wouldn't bother. I finished watching it just so I could warn you as to how awful and PAINFUL it is. Also if you have epilepsy it will most likely KILL you.

I just wanna preface this review with the fact that I've read the main death note series many times, love it, and I loved L and Light but hated Near (That's a rant for another day)

This one shot too me was not that great. If it hadn't been "Death Note" I probably would have rated it lower. It's a dumb look into the mind of Near as he decides how he wants to react to a new "Kira" (Dumb thing #1). Without spoiling anything i'm just gonna say what Near does is extremely dumb and kinda out of character for him (Dumb thing 2#) And ... the ending is completely and utterly terrible and retarded *SPOILER ALERT* New kira randomly decides to kill himself suddenly and the shinigami that gave him the Death Note just strolls back to the Shinigami realm and tell Ryuk and it's over (Dumb Thing #3)

Art: 9: Usual black and white Death Note art style, I loved the towers so the art was overall great as usual

Character: 5: Overall the characters present weren't the great ones to begin with and even the good ones were done poorly.

Enjoyment: 5: story and character weren't very good and it was a disappointment compared to the rest of the series.
