**This review contains movie and manga spoilers**
This is pretty much a review of the movie trilogy.
I haven't finished the Berserk manga yet, and let it be known that I absolutely love it. At the moment of writing this review, I'm at chapter 228. I can't help but compare these movies to the manga, which I hold at the highest standard.
Now onwards to the movies review.
Story:
The Golden Age arc was great in the manga, and I feel like these three movies do it a certain justice, even if they do cut out what I consider to be very important parts of the story (I'll get

It's hard to find words for a movie that made me feel such powerful emotions.
I'm pretty aware that because I've watched this movie when I was a little kid, that the nostalgia value is high to me. But when you're a kid, the plot doesn't make sense and everything seems 10 times more magical and surreal. That was also the case for me when watching Spirited Away. When I saw that two of my brothers were watching and enjoying Hunter x Hunter, and that they recommended it, I admit I didn't think too much of it at the time.
Sometimes I would join in in watching whichever episode they were at, and I remember I would be confused and ask why the hell were kids fighting, and how come were they so damn powerful and smart (??). My bros would laugh and talk a bit about the plot, and in a few days I was devouring the series. Hunter x Hunter became one of my favorite anime. It started a bit slow but still enjoyable. ... This manwa is pretty cute and enjoyable. The art is soft and pretty, the characters (although not as developed as I would like) are interesting and complement each other quite nicely. The comedy is also very well executed, I was laughing my ass off quite a few times.
The manwa retains its innocence whilst teasing the audience now and then with the main pairing. The things I liked less were certain story inconsistencies, and possibly the main character's approach at the beginning. But in the end I really enjoyed the contrasting personalities of both girls, and I liked watching them interact. Would recommend! |
