I'll be talking about both seasons 1 and 2.
I first started watching Ashita no Joe when I was with some friends at a saturday night in my place. We were all slightly drunk, and I remembered the terrible, terrible animation that this show had from the 4 or 5 episodes I had watched sometime earlier. We weren't really paying attention to the story of course, we were just having some laughs at the bad sound effects and animation, nothing really came out of that. But after a few days, that night stuck with me, and I decided to give this show a go for real.
At
...
first, I was just laughing at the characters and their actions. Some scenes were just so badly animated, even for the time that it was off-putting and I couldn't really focus in the story. But over time, I actually started feeling like I wanted to see more of them and what happened next. I started to look forward to Joe and Rikiishi's relationship grow at the time, and all of sudden I realized: I went from laughing at the characters to laughing WITH them, and that's something that only one of show has made me do before. I looked at Joe and his later fights differently and I was more and more invested in this anime that I ever thought I would be. "This is just a boxing anime, man" I thought to myself.
I really, really wanted to give this show a 10, but the animation and the sound effects just won't cut it. Yes, I am aware that I should be reviewing this with 70-80s anime standards, but to be honest, this far surpasses most of what I've seen on other shows throughout my lifetime, nd I reviewed it while.comparing everything to other , more recent anime, and what they did was astounding... It made feel pain and sorrow on some scenes, and the ending... Just... Watch it. There's nothing quite like this out there, and if you're feeling undecided and happen to stumble upon this crappy review of mine.. then try to ignore the crappy animations and sound effects, and look at rhe story, the characters. This isn't a mere show. It's a work of art.
This show NEEDS a really good remaster of some sorts, I don't know, something like a studio reanimating the anime... I know I'm asking for the impossible, but hey, this show deserves it, and with the amount of references and love it got from wveryone that has watched it, from anime lovers to animators and production studios, I think it would be very well received overall.

I really, really liked this show. Most people will watch this once after the season is over, enjoy it, and after a few months don't even remember they watched it. I think I'm in that category.
This a very silly show that is clearly not meant to be taken seriously (you can see it everywhere, from the needlessly long episode titles to the weird monsters and characters).
there's not really that big of a story here. This anime is set from Kuroitsu's POV, an employee working for Agastia, an evil organization destined for world domination that disguises itself as being a normal and boring company. She's part
...
of the Monster development department, a department that designs and creates monsters to fight Divine Swordsman Blader.
The Opening is a certified banger, I just can't seem to be able to skip it every time I watch an episode.
I love the idea of a monster organization that tries to never involve or harm civillians, it's a very big contrast from the comic book villains that we're all used to. And, according to the show, most of the superheroes portrayed in the truly exist. I don't knwo how real that last statement is, but hey, I'm just oing to tak e up on their word.
the anime has a very low budget to work with, and it shows itself in the animation. A concept like this doesn't really need a vig budget, let's be honest, even though it has some fight scenes.
now, I'm very picky about sound design, and I think this one is pretty good, not AMAZING, but acceptable, even with the incredibly high standards that shows like Darling in the FranXX have set.
The concept is very funny and creative, and I can't exactly see why there arent any anime that have tried this before that I knwo of, and if there's anyone that read this review and does know of any other anime or manga similar to this show, please comment on my profile or something.
7.5/10, it's a really good show, given that the animation is adequate in my opinion, I truly enjoyed it and there's not really that big of a story, even though there doesn't really need to have one, given the type of show that it is.

After making such an effort to read this far into the manga, I can safely say that I'm not into this shit.
This review won't really contain any big spoilers, because even after re-reading until chapter 57, the story is so forgettable that I don't remember any of the specifics.
It reads more like a fantasy put into a book, like a fanfiction of a young masochist.
The plot is repetitive, an endless loop of using torment as a way to show "affection", if you want to call it that.
There is no protagonist. Like, I get it, the whole point of this manga is for the protagonist
...
to be as bland as possible in order for the reader to put himself into his shoes, but come on! Even rent-a-girlfriend has a greater protagonist than this!
Well, nagatoro and the gang aren't exactly well written... And I don't really want to talk about the club president, I think that everyone who read into this that far knows that there's nothing going on in there except to act as a jealousy inducing character (AT LEAST UP UNTIL CHAPTER 57,I don't know and I don't care if it changes afterwards).
All in all, all I see is a fetish pleaser, sickening and unhealthy "romance" manga. Hats off to the Mangaka, he got himself an anime adaptation of this.

I'll keep this short, since I don't really have much to say about this.
Minor spoilers, or major, since there is absolutely no content here.
Honestly, give the mangaka of this.... Thing an award, because writing this much and not even show a tiny bit of development overall is a talent in and of itself.
I have never, ever in my life thought that after 225 chapters, a manga would have zero, and I mean ZERO plot to talk about. There is a reason why 50 chapters were covered in 12 episodes of the anime.
The story is in this constant loop of "oh, I'm going to confess
...
to Chizuru today!", With something preventing him to. The girls are one dimensional, there is absolutely nothing to them than the trope they portray, their character developments don't make make sense, and honestly, Nagomi (kazuya's grandma) is hard carrying this in my opinion.
The only thing that might make this even a tiny bit worth it is the art, but if you want to read a manga with an amazing artstyle and an even better story THAT ACTUALLY GOES SOMEWHERE, I seriously recomend "I Am a Hero".
To finish it off... Just don't waste your time on this. I'm still reading just because, Since I have already wasted so much of my precious time squeezing this manga in hopes of finding anything worth talking about, I might as well read it until the end. But honestly, looking at how hard this mangaka is milking it, we just might know how it ends in late 2023.
3/10, the only thing that's keeping me from giving this a 1/10 is the art itself.

My god, this anime is amazing. I have seen it twice, with an almost 5 year interval between those two, being this the 4th anime I've ever watched, and after a long time, and seeing a lot of shows and animes and reading a lot of manga, I've decided to write a review about it. Also, this is the very first review I've made, so I'm sorry if it isn't all that good. This one Contains minor spoilers, I've tried my best, but it was a little hard to do so, in the story part.
Story: 9.5/10
I won't post a summary, as I've seen a lot
...
of people do on their reviews, since, according to the MAL guidelines for reviews, "users already have the synopsis written for them". It starts off slow, but after around 10 episodes, it takes a huge 180 and it starts being an all out f*ckfest for Rintarou Okabe. The story is incredibly well written, I have always loved and read almost everything related to time travels on the internet and in books and thesis. almost nothing feels forced and flows in a natural way. I don't think that the start is "too slow", but I'm a bit biased, I'm legit reading Rent-a-Girlfriend and following it weekly, and legit nothing happens for f*ckin 190 chapters. And I also have to point out how we can see how all of those time leaps that Okarin does start to break him little by little and change his character, ooh... Props to that, It is really well made, have only seen something like that in Re:Zero! But... I fell like there are a few parts that feel kinda forced... I am trying to keep this spoiler free, but the outcome of "Mr. Braun", I felt like it was a bit sudden and didn't really make much sense. How do some of the characters find their way into the lab? Sometimes, they just... appear out of nowhere, I can't really explain it. It just doesn't feel right.
I know, I know, these are just tiny details, but well, I'm writing what I thought, I still gave it a 10/10 on the story rating though.
Art: 10/10
the animation and the art itself if incredibly good, at least for 2011 standards. There isn't much I can say about this, because I'm no expert, Maybe someone that reads this I just really loved the opening and some of the moments were complete sakuga material.
Sound: 7/10
To me, this is the weakest part of this anime. Don't get me wrong, the voice actors do an AMAZING job, all of them are incredible and convey every single emotion really well, some of the best I've heard. Even after watching almost 200 anime after this one, I could still remember some of their lines, something that didn't even happen with almost any other show, apart from Re:Zero and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. However I am giving this a 7/10 because of the sound effects. Some of them made me laugh, like, all of a sudden I felt like they were recorded 10 years prior to the anime itself! The characters drawing a gun, or the stabbing, for example. It is really weird, because some of them are pretty good, and all of a sudden, the quality just... drops. It was actually unsettling for me and took me out of the immersion, since I take sound effects really seriously. But hey, I've worked with music and sound ever since I was 3 years old, and I'm 19 now, so I think it won't be that big of a deal for 99% of people.
Characters: 10/10
I think the characters are all well written. Pretty much everything they do reflects their personality, and nothing feels like it didn't belong to that character. Well, maybe what "Mr. Braun" does to himself, that I'm sure you'll know what I mean after you watch it. But hey, that's just a tiny detail I guess, I personally woudn't write that.
Enjoyment: 10/10
My god, I loved every single second of this show. When I watched it the first time, I remember that I've watched the first 13 episodes in a row! That didn't really happen this time, because I guess I don't really have much time for it now, but I loved every single bit, and I would watch it again and again, just to be with those characters a bit longer...
Overall: 9/10
I am only giving this a 9 out of 10 because of the sound effects. I just can't let that slide. I loved every single bit, but man... those legit made me laugh at very serious moments of the show...
Please, YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS! There's a reason why this is rated as the 3rd best show in MAL at the time of writing and after 10 years it's still at 10th in popularity. It is one the best anime I've watched yet, and I guess I could say that made me look at some of the actions I make in a different way. If you ever get the chance, you should definitely put every anime you're watching on hold and see this as soon as possible.
