One of the first things you'll notice about Blame! is just how well drawn it is. Each page has so much detail that some of the more subtle details may even be lost on you unless you really pay attention or just flat-out re-read it.
The next thing you'll probably notice is that there isn't much dialogue in Blame!. The world of Blame! is incredibly bleak and empty, and the lack of dialogue really reinforces that feeling of hopelessness you may feel in some of the chapters.
The story is pretty basic at it's core. The story follows Killy
...
as he travels around this massive cyberpunk world on a mission to find Net Genes. This is no simple task however, as the world of Blame is so massive it basically takes up our entire solar system. Along the way he'll meet different people, make enemies, and endure hardships.
Probably the best thing about Blame! in my opinion is just how wonderful the art is. Nihei creates a world that really sucks you in with just how imaginative it is. The environments are all very unique, ranging from very cyberpunk-esque cities to temple-like buildings. The character and creature design is also top notch.
All in all this is a must read for anyone who is into cyberpunk settings with bleak atmospheres.
