While this anime has its share of problems I just could not hate it; quite the opposite, I ended up really enjoying it.
The story is what keeps this anime together but it has some issues. It usually follows a pattern - Ash gets hurt/captured and then he is saved, or Eiji gets hurt/captured and then he is saved, sprinkled with other people getting captured and getting saved. The overarching plot, however, is quite interesting, delving into mafia wars and even nation-wide conspiracy. The anime is based on a manga released in 1985 so you can bet that it's full of pure 80's-style action.

This is honestly just one big child molestation joke. But seriously, joke repetition is sometimes funny, but they really rely on that one particular joke here way too much. The shtick that he looks like an adult quickly runs its course, and after a few episodes it just becomes stale and a bit disturbing.
Art is mediocre at best and the sound effects are just plain and random, I swear I heard some of them in bad Youtube videos. Also, character voice work is inconsistent and sometimes jarring to listen to. Overall, the only saving grace here is that it is a short anime and you ... Feb 22, 2019

This is a short review of the whole series and my first ever review at the same time.
2018 really graced us with so many good comedies! Humor is very subjective but as far as the gag comedy anime series go this one is one of the best. What I love the most about this show are its characters. First season had a great cast and some new characters are added in the second season. Every one of them is unique and funny in their own weird way. (My favorites are Saiki himself and Teruhashi). The show is also full of great recurring characters, well executed ... |
