Both have plots about a man who fights against demons (or in the case of Black Blood Brothers, evil vampires). Both are very heavy on the action and gore, yet still contain some tender-like moments as well. Both are highly recomended!

The plots of both Samurai 7 and Sakura Taisen contain a creative mix of history and steam punk. Both contain groups of warriors fighting for the common people against evil. The characters of both are interesting and well developed, giving both stories true depth. And top it off with a brilliant blend of angst and humor throughout both plots, and you have two animes that are definitely worth watching!

Both have excellent plots that are a brilliant mix of history and fantasy/sci fi. The story lines of both animes revolve around groups of samurai fighting for what they believe to be right and just, in addition to protecting the things that mean the most to them. Both are highly recommended!

Both animes contain very light BL themes. But, unlike most shounen-ai anime, these themes are not the driving force of the plot. Both animes also have intriguing, fantasy-like plots and strong characters that are sure to keep the viewer interested, even if they aren't shounen-ai fans!

Both series contain the much loved yaoi teacher/student pairing, with the teacher reluctant to enter such a relationship that is considered taboo and the student working to seduce the teacher at every turn! However, in both series, there is also an element of real troubles that such a relationship might face. Not everthing is completely carefree and perfect after the two main leads get together, but then again, that's what makes the series interesting!

Both series contain similar aspects of the supernatural. Both contain vampires and a relatively ordinary girl (with the obligatory angsty past) who gets involved with them, and inevitably gets her world turned upside down. Also, among the main characters of both series, there are major feelings of guilt for past (or future) actions, making both series not only attractive in the adventurous, supernatural sense, but in the real life sense as well.

Both contain female leads that, while having incredibly strong supernatural powers in addition to very painful pasts, still have very little experience in love or romance. Enter the incredibly good looking demon guardians. They protect, watch over--and maybe even love--their masters. Add to that a whole bunch of deadly enemies trying to destroy them and you have two series that are incredibly good reads!

Both have similar elements of action and adventure, in addition to elements of both the American and Japanese legal systems (i.e. Fake=New York cops, Border=Japanese private investigators) Both also contain characters that, while notable for their yummy boyxboy relationships, also have serious past traumas that come to light throughout the series. The characters are not only gorgeous to look at, they're actually human too. And of course, both have the delicious BL sexual tension we all know and love!

Both, at first glance, seem to be funny and fairly light hearted, if a little heavy at times. Upon closer inspection, however, one will find that both have very similar dark undertones that leave the reader wondering if something much more sinister is brewing beneath the surface. Both also deal with major supernatural and somewhat disturbing elements, in addition to real life drama. Add in the heavy implications of shounen-ai thoughout both of them, and you have two series that are very similar and very interesting!
