A run of the mill Harem anime w/ Great art direction and character design, average story ( nothing Groundbreaking) and the same cringe dating extremely powerful women to "seal their power". This is one of those anime that I see as one of my guilty pleasures, as I watch it I know how absurd it can actually be but generally I just kind of embrace it and enjoy the show regardless. This is a male power fantasy, Our main character is perfect in almost everyway, the girls tits will always be almost out at all times and there will be panty shots.

**SUMMARIZED REVIEW**
**No Spoilers, Full review further down** STORY [9/10] There is very little filler in this show as you ride from one emotional rollercoaster to the next, anxiously waiting to see violet grow and find true happiness and peace. The story was amazing and I believe it is as close to perfect as it could possibly be. ART[10/10] I could go on and on about all of the details and all of the beauty that is packed into this masterclass of art and design in anime or any animated work. In my opinion this could not be better, the creators of this anime should be ... praised for years to come, this was beautiful and I will remember it for years to come. SOUND [8/10] A perfectly conceived soundtrack for the story and art style. No complaints and every song enhances the experience...nothing felt out of place. CHARACTER [9/10] By the end of the show violet felt like a part of me, I was invested in her and to see her story unfold was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time, I loved her and she will be one of my favorite characters for years to come and will be really hard to surpass ENJOYMENT [10/10] There isn't much to say here other than the fact that this is the most enjoyable and heartwarming show that I have seen in years and I wouldn't change or complain about it for anything. I recommend this show to everyone, anime and non anime fans alike. OVERALL [9/10] A tour-de-force of storytelling, a master class in art style and character design with a soundtrack to be remembered ____________________________________________________________________ FULL REVIEW STORY [9/10] - Where do I even start, First off I am an army veteran... a full grown 26 year old man and this story had me crying almost every episode. The look at the consequences of war not just on the soldiers but on the populations affected is deep and heart shattering to witness. The story doesn't leave you on the edge of your seat with action or fight scenes...It instead smacks you in the face with pure and raw emotion. The story is completely unique and the world is fleshed out enough that I can feel apart of it, there isn't much deep lore to go along with the show but the setting is not the focus at all in this show. It instead focuses on the journey of our MC violet and she is more than enough to carry this story...In fact I think focusing on anything else would have been a loss. The story is very loose with an overarching narrative but focusing very heavily on violets interactions with the world as she tries to figure out who she is after the war. There is very little filler in this show as you ride from one emotional rollercoaster to the next, anxiously waiting to see violet grow and find true happiness and peace. The story was amazing and I believe it is as close to perfect as it could possibly be. ____________________________________________________________________ ART[10/10]- The art style in this show is breath taking. Every character is gorgeous and full of personality and emotion. The cities, forests, fortresses and all other settings are phenomenally drawn. I found myself pausing the show to admire; the detail in the night sky, the strands of fur on animals in the forest rustling in the wing, the snow falling to the ground to roll off of leaves and the characters faces, the sun reflecting in the characters eyes as they talking during an emotional moment or the visceral fight scenes where the punches , kicks and stabs all have such impact and weight. I could go on and on about all of the details and all of the beauty that is packed into this masterclass of art and design in anime or any animated work. In my opinion this could not be better, the creators of this anime should be praised for years to come, this was beautiful and I will remember it for years to come. ____________________________________________________________________ SOUND [8/10] the OST for this anime is presented extremely well and does everything a soundtrack should. During the emotional moments the angelic and mourning tones crescendo into spats of musical climax that fit the on screen moments perfectly. During fight scenes the music helps grow the suspense and pulls you to the end of your seat, the bass hitting with each punch and kick. during joyous moments the upbeat tones and notes seem to cement the happiness the characters are feeling and make me want to dance and cry all at once.. nothing to complain about here. It was a very well done soundtrack for an amazing anime. ____________________________________________________________________ CHARACTER [9/10] Another amazing aspect of this heartwarming story. The MC is interesting and loveable. She is someone you want to root for and you will not be happy if she doesn't get what she deserves. Watching her is a story of struggle and triumph. Violet is a caterpillar struggling to break free of her cocoon and all of the supporting characters are tools to push forward her evolution and growth. Of course the other characters has personality and you will cry and mourn for their hardships but you will always come back to violet. She is the story and damn does she make a good one. By the end of the show violet felt like a part of me, I was invested in her and to see her story unfold was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time, I loved her and she will be one of my favorite characters for years to come and will be really hard to surpass ____________________________________________________________________ ENJOYMENT [10/10] There isn't much to say here other than the fact that this is the most enjoyable and heartwarming show that I have seen in years and I wouldn't change or complain about it for anything. I recommend this show to everyone, anime and non anime fans alike. It is beautiful and so enjoyable as a story that I worry not much will measure up again, a bittersweet ride that I am sad see end. ____________________________________________________________________ OVERALL [9/10] A tour-de-force of storytelling, a master class in art style and character design with a soundtrack to be remembered. This is one you cannot miss, this work must be cherished and promoted to all who enjoy a phenomenal story with actual character building and growth. Please don't pass this one up.

**SUMMARIZED REVIEW**
STORY [4/10]- The truth is I do not feel that the selling point of the show is the story. There really is no overarching narrative and each episode really could be watched by itself and It would make sense. This can be good and bad, but for me it hurt the story in the sense that while the stories of each job taken by the crew were good by themselves. There were no greater stakes, No overarching narrative, No mystery or anything close. ART[8/10]- Grimy and dark while also be very clear and legible. The drawn cities actually felt like real cities. The shops, ... food stands, street vendor were all done extremely well and give a lot of life to these cities which makes them feel more like ecosystems the characters are existing in rather than just a backdrop for the story. SOUND [4/10]- No song made me feel like I needed to look it up because it was so good. The voice acting was passable but really nothing special. CHARACTER [9/10]- Overall the characters to me were really good, and the amount of depth they squeezed into twelve episodes was really great. ENJOYMENT [10/10]- There wasn't one second I wasn't enjoying my time watching this show and I recommend it to anyone , this is obviously a classic and one of the greats in many aspects in my opinion. OVERALL [7/10]- A juggernaut of early anime in my opinion, and it didn't do it with story but instead with art, setting and characters. ____________________________________________________________________ FULL REVIEW STORY [4/10] The truth is I do not feel that the selling point of the show is the story. There really is no overarching narrative and each episode really could be watched by itself and It would make sense. This can be good and bad, but for me it hurt the story in the sense that while the stories of each job taken by the crew were good by themselves. There were no greater stakes, No overarching narrative, No mystery or anything close. This reminds me of how shows used to be made because a lot of people were not able to see all the episodes or would miss one and they didn't want the viewer to be lost , but looking back from a time were we can watch everything at once...the story meanders and stumbles through till the end ....not to mention the end feels abrupt and sloppily done, meaning there really was no concise ending. The story was not my favorite part of this show. ____________________________________________________________________ ART[8/10]Wow, I really loved the art style for this show; Grimy and dark while also be very clear and legible. The drawn cities actually felt like real cities. The shops, food stands, street vendor were all done extremely well and give a lot of life to these cities which makes them feel more like ecosystems the characters are existing in rather than just a backdrop for the story. It really makes our characters feel part of the world rather than the main focus and I believe this is all due to the detail in the art style. Obviously the art style is from a different time so you will be able to tell its older but the truth is for me it never detracted from my enjoyment. ____________________________________________________________________ SOUND [4/10]- for me the soundtrack isn't much to write home about . The outro soundtrack wasn't much of a soundtrack at all and I wished they had picked something different but this is all opinion as I have run into people who loved the soundtrack. The truth is for me it didn't do much for the story and No song made me feel like I needed to look it up because it was so good. The voice acting was passable but really nothing special. ____________________________________________________________________ CHARACTER [9/10] For me this was the greatest part of the show and honestly Revy is Bae. Rokurou and Revy have such a good relationship and what I really enjoy is that they both have their very obvious strength and weaknesses. Revy is a badass and can hang with the most degenerate killers around but has almost no people skill, while "Rok" is almost the exact opposite ( having no combat skills and really only have his interpersonal skills to get him through) In the beginning this causes conflict between them but they obviously grow to see each other as more than just crew members. The captain "dutch" is just a really calm and collected leader, Im sad they didnt explore more of his backstory but he really seems like the stoic and quiet type so it made sense that he held things close to the belt and he was a good character overall. Another surprising thing is how good the side characters are ( the criminal bosses) they all had their own unique personality and they really became very important to a lot of episodes in the show. Overall the characters to me were really good, and the amount of depth they squeezed into twelve episodes was really great. ____________________________________________________________________ ENJOYMENT [10/10]- I really liked this show and I have always loved pirate shows so its not surprising to me. I loved the characters and binged this show in one sitting , I just wanted to see more of the crew together and I was genuinely sad when it ended. There wasnt one second I wasnt enjoying my time watching this show and I recommend it to anyone , this is obviously a classic and one of the greats in many aspects in my opinion. ____________________________________________________________________ OVERALL [7/10] A juggernaut of early anime in my opinion, and it didn't do it with story but instead with art, setting and characters. For me it was truly impressive how engrossed I was with the crew even lacking the overarching story and depth I normally look for. I was so impressed by these aspects of the show that I honestly have no issue calling this show a classic and one that no anime fan should go without seeing.

STORY [6/10 ]-All in All the story is fair, I don't see it as a masterpiece but it was good enough that it didn't take away from the show as a whole. ART[7/10]-The Art style I feel is Good. The animation is crisp and clean especially for the time period. SOUND [5/10]- The soundtrack is not bad by any means but I cannot find myself rating it any better than just average/mediocre, not memorable and not a selling point for the show in my opinion. CHARACTER [7/10]- Some of the characters designs do come off as ... plain and it is clear that most of the time went into designing Aina and Shiro look really well together but overall there isn't much to complain about in this category. ENJOYMENT [9/10]- personally this was one of the most enjoyable Gundam experiences that I've had in a long time, obviously not comparable to the original which I would give a ten out of ten. But honestly the unexpected path this story took was really nice and a break from the all out warfare and carnage that almost every Gundam show clearly focuses on OVERALL [7/10]- Overall this was a great experience for me and I am so glad I found this gem ____________________________________________________________________ FULL REVIEW STORY [6/10] This is another example of the "star Crossed lovers" art trope. Its a tried and truth method of storytelling and this anime is no slouch in this department. While It is not your average Gundam story, It had enough of what I love about the series and It was also different enough that it felt fresh and new. The world building is great as its set during the one year war which is one of the most brutal parts of the UC timeline. The combat is visceral and real, these are soldiers, not Gundam Meisters and it shows. The setting is beautiful and is in stark contrast to the brutal and visceral combat of the Gundam series and it honestly gave me full metal jacket/ apocalypse now vibes. All in All the story is fair, I don't see it as a masterpiece but it was good enough that it didn't take away from the show as a whole. ____________________________________________________________________ ART[7/10] - The Art style I feel is Good. The animation is crisp and clean especially for the time period. The explosions carried weight and the sight of energy sabre slicing through Zeon MS was a site to behold. I was engrossed in every combat scene, every vista and every conversation. The color was bright and vibrant and really showed some talent in its intricate details, I really could feel the love and passion that went into this show and I appreciated it immensely. Some of the characters designs do come off as plain and it is clear that most of the time went into designing Aina and Shiro look really well together but overall there isn't much to complain about in this category. ____________________________________________________________________ SOUND [5/10]- The soundtrack wasn't extremely memorable to me and this all comes down to opinion. Sometimes there would be upbeat music playing after a enemy fighter was shot down, even if it was a close friend to Aina (shiros Zeon lover) or there would be out of place music playing during an intense fight scene...at least that's how it felt to me. The soundtrack is not bad by any means but I cannot find myself rating it any better than just average/mediocre, not memorable and not a selling point for the show in my opinion. ____________________________________________________________________ CHARACTER [7/10]- This was a mixed bag for me, what is clear is that most if not all of the character development went into the two main characters Aina and Shiro. These two characters completely carry the show and it seems like the supporting cast had a lot that was left unexplored and they could have been fleshed out much better. I understand that in a short OVA they have to be careful not to take on to much but the truth is most of the supporting cast were an afterthought, it seemed the writers wanted to do something for all of the side characters but then kind of stopped with their development halfway through the show. The good news is I feel shiro and Aina really carry the show in this aspect. Some will find the characters Naivety annoying but I found their focus on Ideals and compassion very refreshing, especially considering when you look at other Gundam shows and its just 40 episodes of battle after battle with no in between and don't get me wrong, this is what got me into Gundam originally....but this change up to focus on more than just that was really refreshing to me and in the end I thought the characters were very good, while not fleshed out, they were loveable and very easy to root for. ____________________________________________________________________ ENJOYMENT [9/10] personally this was one of the most enjoyable Gundam experiences that I've had in a long time, obviously not comparable to the original which I would give a ten out of ten. But honestly the unexpected path this story took was really nice and a break from the all out warfare and carnage that almost every Gundam show clearly focuses on to highlight the heartbreak and pain of war over time. This show was a gem for me and I binged it quickly, I can honestly say I am so glad I found this show and think every Gundam fan should give it a fair chance ____________________________________________________________________ OVERALL [7/10] This is not your average Gundam experience and there is some depth to it. The story is different and good in a lot of ways, the art style is really great and fits the tone and setting perfectly. Its obv a little dated but still really good . For me the soundtrack is lacking but the voice acting is really good so it is a mixed bag in the department. The characters are loveable and its easy to understand their motivations and It was very easy for me to put myself in their shoes. Overall this was a great experience for me and I am so glad I found this gem

**haven't read the manga, based completely on the anime alone. so my opinion will not be based from a position of reading the manga prior to watching anime.** **Below will be the shortened review , If you dont wanna read through the detailed** **Shortened Review** STORY [ 6/10]- This is a story of suffering and redemption...of the human condition and of our own limits to withstand the suffering the world will inevitably pile on us. Our MC goes on a journey of self discovery and finds her own voice in the process. Our secondary character Elias goes on his own journey as well as he struggles to ... grasp and understand human emotions. I was equally invested in both of their journeys. ART [7/10]- The art style in this show is beautiful. The spells that are cast are bright and filled with power, the creatures are creepy, cute, weird and all completely unique . The characters are drawn well and express emotion phenomenally SOUND [8/10]-This was a very strong point from the show, everything from the OST to the ending soundtrack was almost perfectly conceived. This was one of those shows that I never skipped the opening nor the outro songs and I actually payed attention to the song choices throughout the different types of scenes and I believe everything was done spot on CHARACTERS [8 /10]-This is by far my favorite part of the story. I think the dynamic between he MC and the second main character is great. All of their motivations are clear and I empathize with every character for different reasons. ENJOYMENT [10/10]-I loved every second I was watching this show. ____________________________________________________________________ **FULL REVIEW** STORY [6/10] I was put of by this story at first. The premise of an older entity and a 16 year old girl being "married" didn't sit right with me at first. As I watched the show I realized that i misunderstood this completely. This is a story of suffering and redemption...of the human condition and of our own limits to withstand the suffering the world will inevitably pile on us. Our MC goes on a journey of self discovery and finds her own voice in the process. Our secondary character Elias goes on his own journey as well as he struggles to grasp and understand human emotions. I was equally invested in both of their journeys. Every episode gave me a little more info on why the characters were the way they were and as I saw their point of view..It was easy to emphasize with them, even the villain. I would say That this story did its very best to be original and interesting and it succeeded in both regards. It is not perfectly written or conceived by any means but I loved it all the same. ____________________________________________________________________ ART [7/10] The art style in this show is beautiful. The spells that are cast are bright and filled with power, the creatures are creepy, cute, weird and all completely unique . The characters are drawn well and express emotion phenomenally. Everything from the tears to the fight sequences are animated beautifully. Every characters art style was well thought out and they we a joy to observe and grow to love, partially thanks to how well drawn and animated they actually were. I have no complaints for the art style of this show and think it deserves high merits. ____________________________________________________________________ SOUND[8/10] This was a very strong point from the show, everything from the OST to the ending soundtrack was almost perfectly conceived. This was one of those shows that I never skipped the opening nor the outro songs and I actually payed attention to the song choices throughout the different types of scenes and I believe everything was done spot on.With such a large variety of different soundtracks that fit every situation in the Anime....It is hard to fault the show for any of the choices and It deserves to score well in this category as well. ___________________________________________________________________ CHARACTERS [8/10] This is by far my favorite part of the story. I think the dynamic between he MC and the second main character is great. All of their motivations are clear and I empathize with every character for different reasons. Even our non human characters have many human qualities and struggle with them . Our characters make dumb and selfish decisions or dumb and selfless ones. In the end I cared for pretty much every characters and enjoyed all of their screen times and back stories. ___________________________________________________________________ ENJOYMENT [10/10] I loved every second I was watching this show. I think that when a show is able to entertain and make the viewer feel something ...even through its flaws it really is a beautiful thing. This will be one of those anime I think about for a long time and Im glad I took the recommendation to watch this one.

**Summarized Review (if you don't wan't to read my long winder full review**) Story [8/10]- short, precise and beautifully paced. This really is a page turner , I wouldn't change really anything about the story. Art [7/10] Wow, is the first word that shoots into my mind when I think about the art style. Beautifully drawn , breathtaking landscapes. Clean, precise and so pleasing to look at. Character [ 9/10] Characters are definitely something that manga and anime can struggle to keep consistent, readable and likeable. That really is not the case here and you can tell that every character had thought and love put into them. This manga ... will tell you the story of the characters, giving you their motivations and dreams and drawing you in. When you think you know a character you will be shown wrong as they reveal a secret or a thought that was completely unexpected. Enjoyment [10 / 10] I cannot praise this manga enough, If you look at my ratings I am generally a pretty hard critic. With this story I didn't want to look for anything wrong, I was so engrossed in the story and so ready to find out what happened. There wasnt a second I felt like i was just trying to get through It, I didnt want it to end. Overall [8 /10] ____________________________________________________________________ Extended Review (All The Details) **Story [8/10]** This is my first Sci-Fi/Space manga and I'm gonna be honest....I loved this story so freaking much ; short, precise and beautifully paced. Don't Let the small number of Volumes fool you, this is a wonderful story of wonder, hope and friendship. The conflict is constant and the secrets continue to unfold before you throughout the story, Every new revelation surprised me and had me craving more and more. The story also has some actually accurate science explained and detailed as well as explaining the technology and how it works for almost everything that is used in the story. This really is a page turner , I wouldn't change really anything about the story. Please give this a try, I thought this was done extremely well..I will be looking for more of this authors work. ____________________________________________________________________ **Art [7/10]** Wow, is the first word that shoots into my mind when I think about the art style. Beautifully drawn , breathtaking landscapes filled to the brim with weird and amazing creatures and plants. The space atmosphere somehow increases the feeling of hope and wonder that the art style brings forth, which I wouldn't have expected for the cold and terrifying void of space. Extremely readable and pleasing to look at, with every character having great detail and expression. I think that this was done masterfully, and I hope that I can experience an art style that gave me the feelings this manga did. ____________________________________________________________________ **Character [9/10]** Characters are definitely something that manga and anime can struggle to keep consistent, readable and likeable. That really is not the case here and you can tell that every character had thought and love put into them. This manga will tell you the story of the characters, giving you their motivations and dreams and drawing you in. When you think you know a character you will be shown wrong as they reveal a secret or a thought that was completely unexpected. The characters all grow and change over the story and it is so hard not to root for them. I will remember this cast of characters for a very long time. For me the standouts are definitely Kanata , Aries and Zack for me. I want to emphasize that I really dont think there is a bad character. I started of not liking certain characters but then as they lowered their walls from past trauma and you see them for who they are, the become so much more beautiful and loveable. ____________________________________________________________________ **Enjoyment [10/10]** I cannot praise this manga enough, If you look at my ratings I am generally a pretty hard critic. With this story I didn't want to look for anything wrong, I was so engrossed in the story and so ready to find out what happened. There wasnt a second I felt like i was just trying to get through It, I didnt want it to end. This is my new favorite manga and that may change but this story has a place in my heart, if you haven't read this please just give it a try.

**I understand that the there will be another season so i will try my best to judge this first season on its own without any thoughts on the story being continued in s2.
**I have not read the manga so my opinion is solely based on this anime version, nothing to compare it** **for people who don't want to read my whole review and want a condensed version** Summarized review: Story [3/10] below average story, passable but not the main focus Art [7/10] Good art design; crisp ,clean and refreshing ... Sound [4/10] I think is pretty decent. Not the highest quality of the show but there are some real gems in here that are definitely easy to bounce your head to Characters [6/10] The best and most conflicting quality of the show. Our characters are real and human and you will notice their flaws but that's what growing up and finding love is all about, making mistakes and growing from them. Enjoyment [6/10] This is an enjoyable show if you can get past the cringe, good characters, good art style with a decent sound track and a passible story. I didn't ever have a hard time finishing and I think that my conflicting thoughts on the characters makes perfect sense and It shows that the show is good enough to make me care about the characters and the mistakes and triumphs they have. I will definitely be watching season 2. Overall 5/10 - a fair show that i believe most people will enjoy if they can get past the cringe. not the best rom com ive seen but the art style and characters make up for its deficiencies for me enough to enjoy the show. **In depth Review Section** Story (4/10) So to start with , there is a lot of relatability in this show for a lot of people . Mainly because the story revolves around a young man blindly and clumsily falling through the early stages of dating and relationships. The truth is most of us go through this in our lives at some point or another and this story focus on the late bloomers who are trying to figure this out in college. This story world building is good enough and we understand the rules and premises that have been set . The truth of this story is its reliance on the interpersonal relationships of the characters , there are some exciting points (action) but the truth is in order to enjoy this story then you have to enjoy one of the main characters to an extent and you will have to be able to put up with cringe , because this show is full of it. If we are being honest the story itself isnt that special or interesting, another coming of age love story with a few twists due to the unique girlfriend renting premise, but this show does seem to rely heavily on its characters and their relationships with each other which leaves the story very one note but passible. Art (9/10) The Art style is very good and its at least half the the equation when it comes to the question , " are you going to enjoy this show ". The female characters are done really well and its obvious how much time and skill went into crafting them. The art style is one of the strongest points this anime has; crisp, clean and refreshing but it has what we have come to expect from new anime as well. I still find myself smiling at the expressions the animators and artists were able to put in each characters face. Red cheeked, shaking sparkly eyes , and the quality of the tears in the more emotional scenes is pretty spot on. I think that the animators and artists should be extremely proud of the completed work and cant wait to see the art style again in s2 Sound (4/10) So the OST on this anime... I think is pretty decent. Not the highest quality of the show but there are some real gems in here that are definitely easy to bounce your head to. A wide variety of instruments are obviously implemented in these songs and they are just really easy listening. They do have the right soundtrack choices for all the emotional or important screen and I think that is the most important trait that a soundtrack can have. Character (6/10/) This will be make or break on if your gonna like the show, its all about the characters and their interactions. So honestly I find myself conflicting on my feelings towards the characters as I can see all their points of views and see how and why they would feel the way they do. I'm gonna break down some of the characters and explain my score towards the end Chizuru Ichinose- Our rental girlfriend is so conflicting to me as a character. On one hand she has great animation/art design and wonderful emotion filled expressions and you can tell there is definitely tons more to her than she lets on. She can be bright , joyful and wonderful to be around but can also be stoic , honest and wise. It clear that Chizuru is the type of character who had her plan and her goals set and everything she does is to get to that point. I think that Chizurus only problem is that she is so honest most of the time but obviously cant be honest with herself about her feelings. Her relationship with the MC is back and forth and full of tension due to the fact that they both seem to have an obsession with hiding their feeling or not wanting to cross a line. I think the fact I have thought about her personality this much just shows she's a good character. Kazuya Kinoshita- My least favorite character in the show by far but he is still something I can see is relatable to some extent, just extremely exaggerated. Kazuya has moments of being really brave and those moments make me smile because I can see his potential and then most other times I see him as ; spineless, cowardly, and pathetic. He exaggerates all the worst qualities a lot of men have when they first get into dating women and he doesn't have the stones to say what he means and go for what he wants. The cringe think about this show is kazuya for many reasons, first of all , because he rented a girlfriend in the first place and then started a lie of them really being gf and bf even to his family ,secondly because he cant just be honest with his feelings and take the risk. There will be so many times you will want this character to just say what he wants and i wont spoil anything but I dont feel he truly does 100% and its sad but we will see if he can redeem himself in s2. Mami Nanami- This is the girl who breaks Kazuya's heart. While Kazuya is a loser when it comes to dating, this girl really is the bad guy of the story. Its obvious she doesn't care much for Kazuya or if she does it is a weird and destructive type of caring . The truth is there are people like mami in the world; selfish and mean, twofaced and slimy. She plays her role well and we will have to see what she does in the next season. Ruka Sarashina- The misguided girl who actually does like kazuya and seems to be willing to put up with his indecision and lack of communication skills. The truth about Ruka is she is just immature and goes about things the wrong way. She is very likable and It will stump you through the show why Kazuya doesn't just decide to be with Ruka. She obviously cares for him truly and wants to try to make it work , Ruka is a good character and I hope Kazuya comes to his senses but I have serious doubts At the end of the day the Characters are good because they leave you conflicted. I can complain about their faults and the stupid things they do and then I realize we are human and these struggles exaggeratedly portrayed in this show are real; Telling a girl you love her for the first time, being dumped for the first time, having a clingy girlfriend for the first time, trying to have sex for the first time..these are all things everyone goes through and they are hard and our characters are human. They are imperfect and stumbling, just trying to find their way through young love, heartbreak and friendship. I think the characters are good but flawed and that's the way it should be , Humans are cringe and that's the truth. Enjoyment (6/10)- This is an enjoyable show if you can get past the cringe, good characters, good art style with a decent sound track and a passible story. I didn't ever have a hard time finishing and I think that my conflicting thoughts on the characters makes perfect sense and It shows that the show is good enough to make me care about the characters and the mistakes and triumphs they have. I will definitely be watching season 2. Overall (6/10)

_____________________________________Story____________________________________ 5/10 Mediocre So ill start by saying i Did have a lot of fun with this manga, but honestly the story is almost non-existent. This is a story that never takes itself to seriously and is mostly for fun. The Main Character Tachibana Rintaro is funny and his main story issues are just hilarious to me. He has been diagnosed with Hentai syndrome which basically translates to a disease that means if he is turned on to much he will literally ... die and what ensues in the story is basically the main character avoiding so much T&A that Hugh Hefner would be jealous. So just know going in that there is tons of fan-service in this story but there is almost no romance which is honestly pretty rare for manga with a lot of fan service. This is not your average harem/ecchi manga. Ya the main Protagonist is pretty much unbeatable and does most of his fights with ease, but the catch is he is not just getting every girl, because he is actively avoiding them so he doesn't die but they sure do make it hard on him lol. In the end the story is funny and all but it is nothing special, the main story arc can pretty much be described in 10 words but if you know what your going into its still enjoyable. The battle scenes are great and its a quick read and definitely worth it, But not any better than decent at best ____________________________________Art_______________________________________ 6/10 The Art is respectable. The character design and their expressions are enjoyable , Some characters obviously received more love than others but overall the art style is done well and it matches the universe the writer has crafted. Over the top and dramatic with absurd and flashy battle moves with flashy art to go with it. Its honestly very enjoyable but it is by no means a masterpiece, Not even close to bad, but definitely not a masterpiece. __________________________________Characters__________________________________ 7/10 Honestly , these characters are hilarious and there are three of them in this story that I really think are done great and they are just so fun to watch and enjoy. The first and best character is of course Tachibana Rintaro(our main protagonist) The thing that makes this character so good and so funny is his handicap that the writer gives him. The rare disease he has is almost essential to his character as it is the reason for everything that he does. I found myself laughing out loud at my boy rintaro and honestly his pop culture jokes and how he reacts to the other characters around him just had me smiling anytime he was on the page. The second best character is named Ayane, there isnt much to her but she is very lovable and her commitment to learning Rintaro (her masters) fighting style is very cute. I like their relationship because Ayane doesn't have romantic feelings for Rintaro and instead seriously views him as her master in his fighting style and i like this because this is a very rare thing in these type of manga, a girl who isn't interested in diddling our protagonist and dont get me wrong i enjoy romance and beautifully drawn female characters like the next guy but its nice to be surprised and not have the same old same old ( shes a fun character) My third favorite character is Tachibana Kentaro (rintaros father) not much needs to be said about this guy but you can definitely see why rintaro is the way he is. The father character is well done and gives you the dad jokes vibe throughout the manga which i find refreshing because i love bad dad jokes. to sum it all up the characters are good if you are looking to smile and laugh and not take anything to seriously. __________________________________Enjoyment__________________________________ 10/10 I dont care what anyone says, I enjoyed this managa so much, i finished it so quickly and i read 2-3 volumes a night. I was laughing and smiling throughout at the absurd story, characters and battle scenes. The mix up of the setup to the story really made this a good one for me. I definitely would recommend this to people who can laugh at absurd, for no reason, fan service. Its a fun time and I dont regret a second of it, even though the story is only decent at best and the art is so-so, Im glad i found this one =) __________________________________Overall/Summary____________________________ Story: 4/10 Art :6/10 Character: 7/10 Enjoyment:10/10 overall the story is not anything special at all but has its charms, the art style is passable and works in the world and story but isn't a masterpiece by any means, although the battle scenes are very well done. The best part of the story is the main characters, they are all; Love-able, Kind, and Funny. These characters are the main thing that kept me reading. All in all i really enjoyed this more than i expected and i recommend it to anyone who can not take it to seriously and just have fun with the absurd premise and just know that there will be fan service **Shocker** lol

** No spoilers will be in this review, I also have not read the manga so this will be completely based on my viewing of the anime in the dubbed version (I know dont judge me lol)**
I started watching this show a while ago and finished it very quickly, pretty much start to finish in a weekend. It has taken me around a week to write this review. I have deleted and redone it multiple times but i think i finally have my final review lol. SKIP TO END IF YOU JUST WANT A SUMMARY ___________________________STORY(8/10)_______________________ One thing you will ... never say about Kill la Kill is that it isn't original. The premise of this show is equally ridiculous and fascinating. Just to keep it simple, there are clothes called life fibers and they hold great power ( they pretty much seem to be living things) The people who wear these clothes are then able to unleash acts of great power and ferocity all depending on their compatibility with the clothing. I think the story of Kill la Kill could be described as story with absolutely perfect story pacing , which is extremely rare, there is absolutely no filler. Every episode is important and you really cant skip any or risk losing the plot. A lot of anime have entire episodes that can be skipped completely and it wouldn't affect the story. This is not the case with Kill La Kill, it is absolute perfection in its pacing. The world building is really good as well and the story never contradicts itself, meaning that its logic is always internal consistent, it tells you what it is early on and never contradicts itself which really makes it easy to suspend your disbelief of the nonsensical world where your clothes can give you powers and they can also talk to you. So The nudity is very present in this story and believe it or not they actually explain reasoning for why there clothing leaves them with very little clothing. I have mixed feelings on the outfits in the show , at points i thought it was great and then other times they just brought someone on screen and i was like wow you have nothing on , so its kind of a mixed bag for me. If you go point by point the story has everything this kind of story has but where it stands out is where it hits those points. It does it in a way that there is no filler, no drag and no wasted time. Your heart will be pumping and when its over it will have felt like a ride. ____________________________Art(8/10)------------------------------------------------------------- I May get some hate for this but i genuinely think this is the shows best quality. the character designs are all interesting , the weapon designs are cool, the fight seems are captivating and are accompanied with amazing amounts of gore that really contrast to the drab or lighter colors used in the production. I would say that its almost hard for me to say anymore about the art style. The bottom line to me is, the art is great. Its extremely over the top, extremely in your face. The character transformations are cool and have some great color and design to how they are done. I really commend the art designers and art directors on this show. ______________________________Sound (6/10)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sound design is fair. I probably wont be adding the soundtrack for the show to my playlist and i cant say that the intro or outro songs are that amazing but what i can say about the sound design and music is, it does the job that it is supposed to do. The battle scene tracks always match the fight and get your heart race going and they seamlessly blend the combat music with music for more emotional and impactful moments between the characters. The sounds of abilities and weapon attacks; metal on metal, metal slicing skin or piercing a skull all are done well and i cant really complain. Nothing is done that warrants anything higher than a 6 in my opinion __________________________________Character(7/10)_____________________________________________________________________ The main characters of Ryuko Matoi - [Voiced by: Ami Koshimizu[1] (Japanese); Erica Mendez[2] (English)] and Senketsu Voiced by: Ryōka Yuzuki[1] (Japanese); Carrie Keranen[2] (English) are an amazing pair and they really drive the story forward. Ryuko is very headstrong and senketsu is very measured and acts as a counterbalance the the ferocity Ryuko has inside of her. These characters have a great development together. They go through love, anger and hate and they come out the other-side stronger together. There wasn't a moment i wasn't empathizing and feeling for these characters and to me that means it was a job well done. Satsuki Kiryuin -Voiced by: Ryōka Yuzuki[1] (Japanese); Carrie Keranen[2] (English) Starts of as just your average bad guy and becomes so much more. I really enjoyed this character and her development into a relationship with our main character Ryuko. There relationship doesn't feel forced , its extremely natural and makes sense in real world context as well. This helps me to really identify with these characters and their struggle together. Satsuki is honestly my favorite character. I Could go on and on with each character but these are the top 3 characters . the rest service as mechanisms for these characters. They are good but these three are gonna be the focus in my opinion and are the best done characters in the show. That isnt a problem because they carry the show very well. _______________________________Enjoyment 8/10--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I really really enjoyed this show. The art style was good, the combat was good, the character development was good . There isn't a time watching this show that I was confused or wondering what the writers were thinking. I really loved the absurdity of the story but that still made sense. The violence and gore fits the world perfectly and works perfectly with the art style. The different aspects commingle and combine to make a overall great story and enjoyable show . As long as you can deal with nudity and violence as it is excessive. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Overall Summary story 8/10 art 8/10 sound 6/10 characters 7/10 enjoyment 8/10 OVERALL: 8/10 This is a good show, the pacing never falters or wavers and is perfect for the story. There is no filler at all, every episode is necessary and advances the plot. The characters are believable and have very clear motives as the story is flushed out , this is super refreshing and really allows me to identify w/ and empathize w/ the characters throughout the whole show. The art style is great in my opinion and as long as you can dear with partial nudity quite often and gore and violence, these things dont bother me and as long as they are just a part of the art and not the main focus then it doesn't bother me. The sound design and soundtrack is passable, not anything super amazing but it does the job it needs to for the show. I loved Kill la Kill. It made me excited for every moment i was watching and i never was disappointed by its story. . If you can't enjoy or ignore massive amounts of fanservice present in most of the show, you may want to find something else to watch. But for anyone else, if you are looking for a fun, action-filled ride with tons of humor and a story that loves to play around with your preconceptions about magical girl anime, then i truly believe you will like this show.

** This may be very long , there will be my summary at the bottom of the review. Please enjoy, also no spoilers will be included**
----------------------------------------------------Story------------------------------------------------------------- **5/10 Mediocre** The story itself tries very hard to be a coming of age love story but i feel it is slowed to a crawl because of the bad realization one of the two main characters,Taiga, I was really drawn in at first but lost me just as quick. Ryuji is a selfless, loving and thoughtful son and friend, he is by far the best character on the show and deserves the world. Taiga to me is almost the exact ... opposite and I believe most who watch this will see that from the beginning. She treats Ryuji like a dog and no matter what he does for her she still treats him like absolute garbage. Generally speaking i understand that this is an anime and this is a common character trope that is used very frequently but in this show it really does get tiresome. After watching my man Ryuji make Taigas every meal, be there for her as a shoulder to cry on, provide well thought out advice and show genuine care for her for it only to be returned will violence, name calling and overall horrible behavior. Watching this show really hurt me and it is supposed to be a heartfelt/ heartwarming story. Instead it makes me see what i genuinely believe to be some form of stockholms syndrome, before the end of you I even became to become angered by Ryuji himself...watching him take the punishment and never say anything in return....never tell Taiga how much she hurt him and honestly i find it heartbreaking and such a huge miss. The truth is friends don’t call you shitty nicknames, physically harm you, and demand absolute obedience from you. For me the story starts of so strong but falls flat because of the inability to show much growth on Taigas part, and the shows absolute obsession with trashing the second main character of the show. The ending does a bit to bring everything together and it helped me to give this story a better score because it actually didn't end how i expected it to end which was an extremely nice surprise. I just really wish they had done something different for the majority of the show with the two main characters. It is possible to make Taiga a strong willed and powerful girl ..without making her a total ass to those around her. Im sorry if you do not agree with this but it is just my opinion. _____________________________________________________________________________ ---------------------------------------------------Art-------------------------------------------------------------- **6/10 Fair** The Art and animation is on par with most other recent anime movies and shows but the truth is it is just ok. Its not good and its not bad, its just average. I enjoyed some of the side characters but there is nothing special about the art style or animation of this show. They didn't do anything outside the box and that nets the show a fair score. _____________________________________________________________________________ ----------------------------------------------------Sound-------------------------------------------------------- **6/10 Fair** The soundtrack tends to almost sound like a happy go lucky video game theme song, very upbeat and happy sounding . The opening and the ending are decent enough and easy to enjoy. Some of the soundtracks stand out such as; Ki Me Ze Fi Fu, ( an almost old KungFu movie theme song with a strange but enjoyable edm/dub-step switch-up)Tears Of Dragon ( has great drum intro and really layers the different instruments on well and in the perfect order and timing. I Honestly cannot list all the instrument sounds in the song but i really loved it) and Kotori No Etude ( just sounds light hearted and lovely on the ears and it was my favorite one on the soundtrack. They did well making this soundtrack perfect for a high-school slice of life /romance anime. I think the sound designers did a good job here. _____________________________________________________________________________ --------------------------------------------------Character------------------------------------------------------ **4/10 Decent** I am honestly the most conflicted on this section. I absolutely Love Ryuji , Ami ( another semi main character/ possible love interest for Ryuji) and Yusaku. These characters are made very well and all show great character progression and character building. I wont go into to much detail because these characters for me are by far the best part of the show and i dont want to spoil anything about there stories that you will learn watching. Now the reason I am conflicted is because of one character, Taiga. Taiga to me is almost irredeemable in the beginning parts of the show, the truth is...she is one of the meanest characters I have seen in an anime like this. When there are chances to show a little kindness or to make someone feel even a little bit loved she just completely drops the ball. She does make up for it through the ending arc of the story but I just feel the writers really wanted her to be this tough girl but she comes off as mean and spiteful so often that i began to wonder why Ryuji even associates with her at all, this may be a personal opinion but looking at many reviews...there are A LOT of people who agree with me. She could have started the show as a mean person and developed throughout the show in a normal and consistent way but instead her development feels so rushed in the last story arc. Taiga is such a divisive character, i really believe she has such potential as a character but instead of making her a strong woman and a loving and compassionate friend. They made her a selfless and cold girl, I understand things have happened to her that were awful but Ryuji has had a terribly hard life and and is still caring and selfless. Why couldn't Taiga adopt more of these traits? why does she have to be so unbearable in the beginning, especially to Ryuji. Overall there are some good characters and character moments but i feel Taiga brings down the rating because of her inability to show the growth that characters should and her attempted trashing of the main character throughout the show. _____________________________________________________________________________ --------------------------------------------------Enjoyment------------------------------------------------------ ** 6/10 FAIR ** At the end of the day I cannot say this is a horrible anime, It does a lot of things well and some things I think it did horrible. Truth is I did finish it and I was invested, Finishing it in only about 10 hours on a binge. This show pulled me in and die illicit a lot of emotion in me. Regardless of if i agree with the direction of the characters or not , i have to admit i did enjoy this show for different reasons and I do not by any means think it is a bad show. _____________________________________________________________________________ ---------------------------------------------------Summary---------------------------------------------------- Story:5/10 Art:6/10 Sound: 6/10 Character:4/10 Enjoyment:6/10 Overall: 5/10 Overall there are some strong points to this show but i believe the character building of one of the main characters, Taiga, really leaves a lot to be desired and it very nearly ruined the show for me. You Will find a lot of the aspects of this story cringe and you will just have to deal with it. The story is ok at best and contrived and used up at worst. The art is average, being on par with most other anime in this genre. The Sound is good and i enjoyed every track. The characters leave a lot to be desired. there are some good characters and character building but i still believe the characters fall flat because of the development of the main character Taiga and how infuriating she can actually be (in a bad way). My enjoyment of this show was fairly high considering how much i have complained about the story but there is a lot to love about this show and if you like other high-school/slice of life/romance then you will likely enjoy this but dont expect anything new or different from other anime in the genre.
