NOTE :
- I'm not played the game yet so i can write this review more objectively
- My score above is based on my enjoyement, it will be different in my review below
-This anime are absolutely made for fans of the game.

Before you decided to pick this show, what are you expected for this??? Epic plotline, action battle, characters developent?? If you want to get that, i think you shouldn't try this series since this anime had none with that or at least very decent amount.


Story :
Story is almost nothing.The synopsis says :"The "historical revisionists" have begun attacks on the past ... in their plot to change history. And The Saniwa, who have been charged with protecting history, can imbue life into objects, and has the ability to bring famous historical swords to life as male warriors" . But, in reality this show are mostly taken place in one place : "the fortress". Then, the majority things you're got here is Slice of Life-comedy feeling. I saw there're nothing different with other common SoL anime unless it's not filled with any single girl. And you will find some historical things on Japan history and they combined it with some action and drama, but it's decent.

Art and Animation:
About the art, they are doing good. The drawing, colouring, shadowing background, characters drawing, and enviroment looks suitable with this anime, not too bright as Moe anime and not too dark like Death Note. Something not good is when they drawing in action battle. After the drawing animated, it looks too fast to me but i know they put the effort in other aspect (SoL aspect). This is made the battle is mediocre and easily to forgot. About the animation , they're just look given standard animation with about 5-14 fps and without any single CGI.

Sound :
The sound in this show is mostly relaxed (they used relaxed classic Japanese music) in peace scene at the fortress while the SoL-comedy happened. And on the serious scene, the sound are pretty dramatic and with classic japanese music too. So this added more atmosphere at the scene itself. The insert song is so catchly, combined with classic Japanese music (classic Japanese guitar and flute) and modern music (drums) makes it worth to hear in my every week watching this show and i didn't skipped it. Then the attractive animation while the insert song is makes this much better. And plus they put the most of effort in the 11 different ending song! with different characters for each ending. It's give huge positive effect to me because i'm too cared about the insert and the ending song on an anime

Character :
This part are the reason why this anime are limited for fans of the game. They put much characters in this anime (about 45 characters with different trait and personality). It's almost impossible to remember at least the name of each characters if you don't play the game. In other hand, you must be easily to remember all characters in this anime with their trait and personality in one piece if you play the game. In addition, no female chara here that make this show feel sour and there are few male characters that looks like female (commonly called trap). Which some people doesn't like that.

Enjoyement :
I came to this show simply because it adapted by Doga Kobo. Their SoL-Comedy that they make are always amusing me. I rated 7/10 on this anime (Fine) if it based for my enjoyement.

Overall :
Based on my review above, i'd give this show 6/10 (Average) (5,92)

In conclusion, this anime are for fans of the game only. If you're try hard or masochist users like me (not played the game but still watching this), this show are recommended for you .

If you supposed this is ‘Moe’ anime, you’re alright. But if you think this anime is ONLY about ‘Moe’, you’re absolutely wrong. Why did I say that??? Because this anime is ‘Moe’ if you just see from the cover.BUT, this anime did more than most ‘Moe’ anime from my experience watching this.


In this review I started with the genre analysis in this anime. New Game! As you see, the genre is: Comedy, Seinen, Slice of Life.

In Comedy section. Because this is from 4-koma manga adaptation, it must have more comedy scene if we depend from its source. But I didn’t ... find much comedy in this anime. In other hand, in every moment when the jokes happen. They (the studio) not rushed to the jokes in this anime. So, it did not make the jokes feel 'absorb' too fast. Also the jokes in this anime are like our real life without very stupid character, weird personality, etc.. So, I felt this anime has more realistist gags. And that all can get additional good effect in this anime despite this anime have less comedy.Overall this anime has ‘Okay’ in comedy

Slice of life in this anime has different from most other slice of life anime.It because the anime taking place in workplace on game company with modern lifestyle without generic event at other slice of life like festival,chrismas,valentine,etc.But the ‘heartwarming’ scene is still avaible here.So this anime did not forget the most important part in slice of life anime : “Heartwarming Scene”.I think the slice of life aspect has getting superior than comedy.You can feel that after watching it.

Seinen is the demograph of this anime.So you will find more more easily to take everything from this anime if you age at range 18 to 30.

And the hidden genre is Shoujo-ai.This anime have ‘minor shoujo-ai’ that usually called ‘Yuri Vibes’ .But this yuri vibes was not ruined the anime because they put that on right time.


We moved on story.New Game! Has told about our MC Suzukaze Aoba, 18 years old. Fresh graduate from high school and start working as a game designer in EagleJump Company. From the start until the end of this anime has not tell much or not too focused on game making. But they focused on ‘Slice of Life’ that usually happen in the workplace and imaged how people on Japan work. If you didn’t like this anime has not focused on the game making progress, Please blame the source was like that.


The art in this anime is ‘Great’ I think.Look at the frame and detailed character drawing and coloring,just Great!.Plus the background!.In other hand, the animation is nothing special or not good but not bad too because I can see they just put little animation or zero on mob character/background character. But this suitable with this anime.Overall the art in this anime is great on drawing ,but not too good in animation


On sound i didn't review the seiyuu because i’m not care about seiyuu (i think all seiyuu is good) and every studio was always choose the suitable seiyuu for every-one characters on all anime.
On backgroud sound it few (maybe 7-8 background sound) are played.But if you watched this anime on time line,it would very easy to forgot and it suitable for every sol anime.For effect sound is pretty decent that backround sound because sol anime has not need it too much.OP and ED sound are quite good but it's not my type genre music,but it very suitable with anime.The overall , sound in this anime is very minimalist.


The Characters in this anime has make big roles to this anime,because on every sol anime characters interactions are very important.In New Game! The MC Suzukaze Aoba was a new employee on EagleJump Company(so every people in this company is Senior for her) .In there she was meet many characters with different manner,taste,likes,dislikes etc.Aoba interaction with the characters is the main things in this anime(because sol anime) and without teenagers in this anime makes this anime good too .But i didn’t like the other side.No male characters has found in this anime (Blame the source) and this may make everyone included me feel boring for just watching Only ‘ woman interaction’.


I more enjoyed this than other sol anime because they put a few fanservice plus with details drawing based on the manga.And they put that on right time.So the fanservice is not ruin the anime itself. (Another good fanservice uses)


And the Overall,since it aired about three month ago when only few people watching this .I'd keep watching this every week to relaxing from my busy real life.I gave rating for New Game!‘ 8’ .I Can recommend this for you who want to watch “Moe with different air”

This manga was serialization in gangan online and Yoshino Satsuki as author.Now this manga still airing at vol 14 on Japan.This manga also got an anime adaptation on summer 2014 and get high success in my opinion

The story is about young calligrapher Handa Seishu that punching old-famous calligrapher only because his critics on his calligraph.And his punishment is exiled to rural island named Goto Island.As someone who has never lived outside of a city,we can see how Handa adapt with rural island neigbours,different between city and rural lifestyle, etc.And that make it special is the manga are filled by heartwarming and some moral value besides ... comedy-slice of life atmosphere.(8/10)[7,7]that only make it bad is the comedy-slice of life formula is may boring for us if we read it non-stop(read all vol on 1-2 days)

The art on this manga is 'fine'.Some background is drawn well,but in few panel is not filled by backround.After some vol, i'd see many character inconsistant drawing on mangaka.The first-looking of characters looks different if i compare to the latest vol,but i already find a consistance with character's draw on mangaka(in vol 5 until i read now while this review made on vol 9)(5/10)[5,2]

On characters,i'd only see Handa characters change on manner,his calligraph result, and his socialization skill because his life now in rural island.I didn't see any people's character change on island.As on slice of life genre.Handa interaction with each people is different for different people on island.for example : Handa interaction with the annoying kids,middle school girl,people on same age with him,adult person,and even old man and women will different each other and it's very interesting to see.
on our characters here are(i write the characters based the MAL page on this manga) : first ,we have Handa Seishu,the hansome and jenius calligrapher with bad manner before he went to island.Then Kotoishi Naru,the cheerful kid and looks tomboy.Arai Tamako is mangaka that loved BL story(hide it from everyone).Kubota Hina is kid who very easily to cry ,Miwa Yamamura is Tamako friend at middle high school who is very good on sport,Kudo Hiroshi that always do anything vaguely. and Handa Emi,Handa's mother.You will discover other characters if you read more this manga(8/10)[8,1]

for enjoyement, i don't want to say anything.I Enjoy Barakamon and always buy the latest vol if it released at my country.(8/10)/[8]

And my overall is same with enjoyement (8/10)[8].It's recommended to read it on you free time.

This anime was adapted from manga that aired since 2003 and now isn't finished,.This anime could have more audience if it aired earlier between 3-4 years ago.It because this anime have boring spice : moe-comedy-slice of life-school, and now we have much with it.

The story isn't have any special because it have SoL-school genre and combine with comedy.It not have plot just like mosly 4-koma manga adaptation.We'll just get each character interaction every day and when any special event happen like valentine,chrismas,summer,etc.It may be boring for some people(5/10)[5,3]

The Art is beautiful like ... modern anime art now and what make it special is detailed art at colouring the background and characters.Background and characters has draw very detail too.that expected from the studio(9/10)[8,6],but it have same problem with some mob character that just like backround,it was not move because it not given an animation.But i not have problem with that

The sound have nothing special :effect sound,VA,etc is okay,because the genre itself ,And OP and ED is looks suitable with anime(7/10)[6,7]

The characters is most important with this genre.
We have Youko Nishikawa that become extremely poor family,but still holds on to her princess attitude just like her live on rich family before.
Then Futaba Odagiri with a super energetic personality and love eat,eat and eat but have skill on cooking too.And Teru Hayama is the class president with a mean personality contrary to her innocent looks.And love animals too especialy.Interaction that they gave are very enjoyable and interested to see
and the interaction with other character also funny too(8/10)[8,1]

The enjoyement : for comedy section ,just like other comedy-genre anime .Their comedy may hit or miss on you.But personally i can take the joke in this anime.not too funny,but not bad too.Anyways,I feel enjoy this anime .(8/10)[7,6]

My overall is same with enjoyement(8/10)[7,6] if you looking at this combined genre recipe,you should try this.

NOTE : This anime is have 'ECCHI' genre, so you must found lots of 'FANSERVICE' here and 'ECCHI' genre is mosly have 'hidden romance' even they not listed on genre including this anime

Rail Wars! take places in an alternate universe where the Japanese government remains in control of the nation's railway systems.

The good sides is:
[+] This anime have a good concept
[+] This anime looks like Detective Conan , each episode have own different problem and at ... one episode or two episode the problem have been solved.So Rail Wars! is not have any plot that connect each episode.
[+]the fanservices is mosly found on each episode
[+]can add our knowlegde about train

Meanwhile, the bad sides is:
[-]Very much Fanservice is relative for everyone,it may good or bad.Good if you enjoy the fanservices or bad if you think too much 'fanservices' is ruin this anime although is 'ecchi' anime
[-]As i told above, there a 'hidden romance' that accompany the 'fanservice'.You may feel boring with 'love triangle','jealous each other',etc..
[-]I told on the good sides Rail Wars! looks like Detective Conan, It may be boring for someone.


Summary: the story & plot is mediocre. It's depending from person who watch this anime,but honestly sometimes i may enjoy this anime and boring too.


-Art & animation(4/10) [4,3]
The art of this anime at least look lively,
so the good sides is :
[+]Rail Wars! is story about train,so it must have lot of train with different type.I liked the train look and design
[+]Characters drawing and colouring is fine (6/10)

Meanwhile the bad sides is :
[-]it have 'Police' genre,so Rail Wars! have fighting scene too.I think fighting animation is not impressed to me
[-]the background sometimes is bad,i think the colouring and drawing is bad especially on landscape background
[-]the 'oppai' drawing sometimes is not fit with female character
[-]The 'shadowing' is sometimes bad


Summary : Rail Wars! is have bad art,I liked this one but immediately hated the other one(more to be hated than liked).But i can accept that because the studio is unfamous IMO


-Sound(9/10)[8,6]
The sound on this anime is great.i feel on inside the anime.But i can't rate this aspect well.
The good sides is :
[+]train sound is very amazing
[+]VA played their roll well
[+]OP and ED is very good to hear


Meanwhile the bad side is:
[-]Effect sound(not train sound) is very common


Summary : Sound aspect is great


-Character(6/10)[6,1]
The character aspect is good.each character have their own skills and weakness,each characters fit out other character weakness and support strong aspect the other character.

The main charaters is :
o Naoto Takayama,he aspires to become an employee for Japan National Railways,because something happen while he was child.Very liked train
o Aoi Sakura,she have an atlethic body.Also have ideal body and face to me and have great skill at shooting
o Haruma Koumi,she is genius that called human encyclopedia(only for theory)
o Sho Iwaizumi,he is always hungry and have great skill at fighting and power

Good sides is :
[+]it's interesting when we see the character teamwork to complete each problem that they faced
[+] it can teach us teamwork is most important at workplace(must apply in real life at our workplace)

Meanwhile,bad sides is :
[-]Sho Iwazumi is have lack attention by producer and studio(he's main character)
[-]Only Naoto has involved with 'fanservices' ,you may feel disliked
[-]if you see much anime,you may feel boring with all character trait that very easily to guess

Summary : the character trait is too mainstream especially on female character , but it still interesting to watch i think

Enjoyment(7/10)[7,1]
I like this anime because :
[+]this anime theme and concept itself
[+]There 'Ecchi' genre without something common anime 'Ecchi' genre with fantasy,supernatural,mahou,etc...(i try on this anime because of that)
[+]from unfamous studio
[+]want 'fanservices' itself

What i disliked this anime :
[-]Bad art
[-]Naoto is too innocent(like most common ecchi anime)
[-]Shou is have lack attention,must have more attention to him because he's a main character too
