This show was thoroughly entertaining for a variety of--spoiler free--reasons.
I will admit that the premise of a cube being one of the main love interests in a story is... out there.... But what I really liked about this anime is that it manages to meld action, gore, and an undeniable sense of cute fairly well.
It threw me off at times, but in a good way: shifting in tone RAPIDLY from lighthearted and cute, to dark and gory, occasionally multiple times in the same episode.
It touches on several difficult topics--humanity, murder, past sins, etc--yet still doesn't manage to come off as too edgy or
