A very normal High school romance with some mystery sparkled over. The show shines in its character writing and realistic character arc progression, which follows a very natural rhythm without using the usual big moment big change/realization character development seen in most shows, anime or otherwise. After finishing it, you feel like you can actually understand the full scope of the main characters, with mayaka maybe being the only exception. The writing and dialogue is exceptional in its subtext, though my poor grasp of the language hampered my ability to appreciate it to the fullest extent, and the English dub, sadly, lacks the same quality.
...
Still definitely a show fans of Romance would probably enjoy.

Mushoko Tensei is a new Isekai that is being produced by a new studio, just like Ex-Arm. However, contrary to Ex-Arm, it's the best looking show this season. The other aspects - well, let's start this review.
Story-8
I am going to say upfront, the score here isn't based on what has happened (10%plot 90%SoL), but rather the potential of what can happen. The World Building here is pretty well done, nothing God like, Oh my Gawd stuff, but pretty interesting. The introduction of the three characters as certified bad asses is shown to us without violence but just through their actions. The Fantasy world on the
...
other hand is beautiful. It feels rich and lived in. It has its own style of beauty and it's own set of problems. Again nothing out of the world like MiA, but still very good.
Tldr; It has potential.
Art -9
JUST LOOK AT IT, DAMN.
Tldr; JUST LOOK AT IT, DAMN.
Sound - 8
I like it, the beeps and boops are good.
Characters - 7
Side ones: I like most of the cast here, at least I don't dislike most of them.
Paul is scum, but entertaining. As someone who likes mass murderers and child killers like Vegeta, Itachi, Light, Askechad, Lad Russo and another million anime characters who kill more people than I kill bugs, I don't give a shit that he is a womanising scumbag, he is entertaining as fuck, showing us what would happen when a harem protagonist starts a family ( This is copied from my sister, credit goes to her.) ( A knife is silently hidden).
Paul's wife (forgot name), the maid and Sylphie are okay characters. I like them, but as you can see from the above line, they didn't really leave any impression on me.
Ghislaine is entertaining, if a bit bland.
The Greyrat family are all entertaining and Eris is pretty likable, that cat girl thing was cute. Though it could just be my love for tsundere. All of them are furries (probably anyway).
Eres's father is straight up disgusting. Offering her daughter to Rudy like she meant nothing. Hoping to see his thought process and motivation to become clearer. Such dastardly deeds were apparently common in those times ( Like I mean if you have watched GOT, this is basically a loving fathers first thought. Shove their beautiful and probably groomed daughters on anyone with an iota of importance to their goals. Good parenting at its finest).
MC: Rudeus is a weirdo. I really don't give a shit that he is a pedophile. Paedophilia is somewhat of an issue in my country. 40 year olds are marrying 11 year olds in broad daylight and getting away with it. There are laws in place against it, buthe there are caveats, which can be translated as - Well, Fucking people 1/5 the of your age is weird, like really weird, like funked up weird, but man, if the media doesn't get a whiff, you do you, fam, you do you. Here are some laws that will help in court to win any accusation against you and you go back to your loving, underage, probably overworked and abused wife -
So, Rudy being someone who is attracted to underaged girls is not an immediate turn off for me, nor is the fact that he is somehow getting a pseudo harem, or the fact that he is too horny. My problem with this character is a lack of progression. He wanted to pull himself up from his sorry, horny state. His utter shock and guilt for the bathroom incident with Sylphie, saving the maid, respect for Ghislaine and Eris's skills all work for this goal, or it would if he wasn't being the same thing he doesn't want to be basically the rest of the time. It's bad writing in an otherwise good show.
Tldr; It has entertaining characters. The protagonist however, suffers from inconsistent writing.
Enjoyment:8
I enjoyed it.

I really like this season of AoT, to the point that I even increased the score of season 1 and season 3 after watching it. I think everything about this show that can be said has been said. Most loved it, some thought it was
overrated. Some didnt like it. For me, it changed from a dude who liked the show to a fanboy.
This season of AoT is great. It has intense action and drama. The tension is through the roof. There is actual emotions being evoked in every moment the battle takes place. Every time the battle dynamic shifts there is an actual sense
...
of victory or dread. Add it with a great reveal and poof you have got a banger.
With all that said, this season of AoT does not do anything new. If you are not interested in any of its aspects- the mystery, the characters, the reason why everything became this way, the story or the action, then you are going to think its overrated( a meaningless word imo). Only if you had ANY interest in any of the previous seasons, can this season convert you, as it takes all the great elements of the previous seasons, perfects it, puts it in a 10 episode package and boom, a banger.
This is great.

I really didnt expect to like Attack on Titan this much. One of my cousins and my sister both have watched this anime. My cousin who is kind of critical like me thought the show was good, but not great. And while my sister loved it, I am not sure if it was for the anime or the yaoi, so I didnt keep my expectation as high as I would have for a series of this popularity and ratings, and it pleasantly surprised me
The opening arc of AoT is perhaps the best opening arc I have seen in any anime or manga ( maybe barring
...
Promised Neverland). It was short fast, emotional, horrifying and effectively told me what I was getting into.
Normally this would also get my expectations high, but I had just come off SAO, so...
It was for the better as the best part of the season was the 1st two episodes imo. There were other good episodes, but not upto the mark of the 1st two. There are no awful episodes. Some parts were slow, but as I
binged it, I didnt feel it much. The twists and turns of the show were entetaining though no particularly exceptional.
The weakest part of the show was the character. I liked Sasha, Jean, Mikas, Levi, Hange, Pixis etc characters and after watching the Levi OVAs, I really liked the character. But except for that no other character except Jean has a well defined character arc. So my enjoyment of the characters came from their characterizations and sometimes from the character writing, even though except for Jean, there was little character progression. Some have complained that Eren is annoying. I watched this just after SAO. I really liked him.
Also the female characters in this show are written as characters and not as plot points, which given the number of female characters, is a pretty unique thing in shonen series.
Apart of all this criticism though, my enjoyment of this show is off the charts. So yeah, gonna rate this one high

Even though my score may not show, I actually like this manga quite a bit.
I think the premise is interesting and it actually builds up on it. While It may not be perfect in this regard and some things like the Fugeuchi incident was done better in the anime, my overall enjoyment of the series did not decrease till the end.
I like the characters of Tokyo Ghoul. Kaneki, Touka, the Gourmet, Nishio, Hanami, Jason, the manager, Hide, Amon, Juuozo, Mado (girl)are all characters I like seeing, (even though shoving Mado (psycho) down my throat didnt work) and I enjoyed watching their interactions. Even though they
...
might not have character arcs, their character writing was very good imo( like how Arami? was written to be a badass without even appearing on screen until like the last chapter). So when Kaneki decided to go edgy randomly( justifying it with a rushed character arc ranging for a couple of chapters from what I remember), I had no problems with that, even though I could see the faults, as I thought it would create a new dynamic with the new cast of characters. But that didnt happen all that much. While the dynamic between the Gourmet and Kaneki is interesting, the other relations are pretty one note imo. And it was a problem for me as the previous chatacters were mostly ignored in favour of a cast I didnt like as much. The fact that I enjoyed the scenes with the investigators I barely knew anything about more than the "Plot" scenes speaks for itself
Minor Spoilers and one major one:
And to add to that I didnt like the ending. May be I am just stupid and the ending was above and beyond my limited thinking capacity, or maybe the ending was just bad or rushed, I dont give a shit. I didnt like it. I dont mind that the author decided to kill the character( Is Hide dead?), but I didnt feel any emotions at any death except for Amon as the death didnt mean anything significant. Kaneki was killed by a douche in his first appearance, I didnt care about the reliable investigator dude and did Hide die????. Plus I thought the ending with the clowns was too random. Maybe my points seem a bit jumbled and ranty, but what I am trying to say is the ending didnt give any closure or answers and I feel like it just baited me for a sequel.
Maybe my mind will change after reading re: but till then.....
I dont care about art. I can see Berserk and AoT early chapters side by side and see no difference, so yeah.

A rant explaining the insane ratings and the behind the scenes reasons of its popularity( nothing aggressive, atleast I dont think so):
Gintama is a show that everyone wont like, and thats fine, comedy is the most subjective genre imo. However due to its ratings in combination with moderate overall popularity some might believe that its a show thats for everyone, Its not. In order for someones score to count one needs to watch 20% of a series, which, for this show, means 41 episodes!!! So those who dislike this style of comedy drop it before they even reach that point. Those who stick with
...
it already like it and so rate it highly. This is evident by the number of people who have dropped it or have put it on hold. A large portion of its "Popularity" on this site comes from the aforesaid people and those who plan to watch it (just look at the stats in desktop mode). So basically due to MAL system, only the ratings of the people who like the show is counted. Thus blowing up its ratings. Its even more prominent in sequels.
My thoughts: I dont like this weird style of comedy. I have nothing against it, its just not my thing. Usually I would give this a 5 as I can see why someone might like it, but as its ratings are already inflated...
This show has no specific story. Its art is normal and I personally dont like the particular noisyness of the show. I like the characters, specially Gintoki and Kagura, both being a farcry from their counterparts from other shonen series, in a way I like. But it was not enough to keep me interested, so there is that

When I first started watching anime Tokyo Ghoul was one of the first anime that I got recommended. However, for various reasons I never watched it - untill 6 years later I started it on a whim
Even before starting the series I knew that the sequels were supposed to be "Dogshit". So even though it was immensely popular, I didn't come in with high expectation in regards for story or characters , and my expectations even then was barely fulfilled.
Story-6
The story of Tokyo Ghoul starts with an intersesting premise. Putting the main character right in the middle of the tense situation of humans and ghouls.
...
From there I thought this could lead to some interesting questions about the existence of the ghouls and if they can ever really co-exist with humans. I wanted to see Kaneki figuring out that ghouls have emotions just like humans and how he reacts and grows with that information. His peculiar situation as a half ghoul was also interesting. However the show never really touches on these matters. Kaneki just knows that ghouls have emotions and never really has any problem with that. The only thing he struggles with is his diet change - from coke to human flesh, but I felt even that was glossed over. His peculiarity only plays a role in making him stronger. The conflict between ghouls and humans would have been interesting if there was any other side than ghouls and humans. There are peaceful ghouls, aggressive ghouls and weird humans. There is also almost no measures taken by anyone to understand the other, the few exeptions are not conscious efforts, rather they are accidents. The plot is also very convenience based - thus making many things seem forced. Overall this is a generic storyline with a unique premise
Art and Sound-7/8
Good, I have no complaints
Characters-5
The characters are not very strong (as in developed)
Kaneki - Kaneki is a pretty boring MC. He is a reactive MC, who never makes any moves usually. He accidentally became a ghoul, met and joined the coffee shop and got kidnapped, Twice (or thrice- not sure about the Nishiki one). The only thing he did actively was help Touka in saving that kid, and thats it. His "Development" was forced in one episode with backstory and all and his ideology was changed, though the ideology was introduced like 5 min beforehand. Overall a boring MC
Kirishima- Perhaps my favorite of the bunch, Touka shows some character depth. She is strong and harsh but not cold hearted. She takes various decisions throughout the series that moves the plot. She is very human. She shows anger, regret, sadness more naturally than the othet characters. However most of these emotions are brought out by drastic things like death and murder and guilt of killing someone. So not very nuanced or subtle.
There is a best friend, a pedo, an old dude and a BDSM junkie other than the above
However I enjoyed the show a lot. Even though I can see the many problems plaguing this anime, I did enjoy the heck out of it. If you like gore or action then it is a fine watch. But its obvious flaws decreases the overall score.
Enjoyment - 8
Overall- 6
