STORY
The origins and background are extremely sloppy. A lot of details are left unexplained. Another RPG game-based anime. Would have been better if the world is real. It seems the player of the game is trapped. The servers didn't shut down the game but transported them somewhere else. The character does not seem to have logged off his account since then so it does not make any sense at all. In other words, I'll reiterate how the background of the story remained sloppy and unexplained. However, the flow is alright and makes it watchable after a few episodes.
ART
Nothing special. Generic art with a lot of
...
flashy animations.
SOUND
SFX is good, although generic. However, the opening theme is good and resembles the Parasyte OP song. It complements the characters and the story.
CHARACTER
Good and somewhat memorable. A strong character figure that possesses kindness and wisdom. The feeling of Guts from Berserk resonates from the character. Although uses high levels of magic instead of brute strength. The main character also falls under a heroic villain category, at least there were hints in the last episode. Other than that, the rest of the characters are bland, and not memorable.
ENJOYMENT
The first few episodes were boring and horrible. But the storytelling improved thereafter. Cliffhangers were properly executed which kept me watching at some point.
SUMMARY
Story: 3
Art: 5
Sound: 7
Character: 6
Enjoyment: 6
Overall, generic, sloppy, and could have been better. It is still watchable and the story will keep you somewhat curious if you can get over the fact that the beginning is sloppy.

Story (7/10)
- Concept (4/5)-
Dark, gorey, unexpected and unique in its own way…and at some point, philosophical. Compare to other psychotic manga or anime, this would probably be the cutest. Somehow, in a way, this manga is like a more subtle version or the shonen version of Gantz. Instead of badass science fiction, a badass fantasy and instead of having sex, the oniichan would satisfy his imouto by letting her eat him and enjoys it.
It is not just mindless gore. The manga would actually make you think how the pupa resembles the two siblings’ life – a sort of parallelism between butterflies and the cycle of
...
human darkness. I am not sure whether or not it’s just a coincidence but the manga reflects a bit of Sigmund Freud philosophy. There are other philosophical resemblance such as nihilism although it is indirectly stated or shown in the series.
Perhaps what makes this manga good is how it, perhaps accidentally, combines gore, violence and psychotic ideas with incestdom and fantasy – abusive parents, siblingly love and gauging out one’s eyeballs and turning into monsters. It is a rare combination but not completely unique. There are other sweet and psychotic hentai out there but this could probably in line with one of the good ones even if it’s toned down on the hentai side.
-Organization (3/5)-
It has a very good phasing. It is not as abrupt that of its anime adaptation. It gives us more depth, insights and gore to spare. It has good timing with the audience reactions, assuming that the audience enjoys such things. A good grasp of techniques and devices – how the author inserts light and fluffy moments or jokes in the middle of a gorey story without making it seemed forced. It’s good but still needs improvement. I can say the same thing with the cliffhangers. The readers need more impact to make us want to read more.
Art (7/10)
-Memorability/Originality (6/8)-
The characters seems a bit generic but they are seemingly memorable in a way with the use of the weird looking hairpins and scars. Gore, darkness and blood. Scary looking creatures, cute and kowaii stuff toys. It suits the lightness part of the manga but at the same time its darkness.
-Quality (1/2)-
It’s okay. Not to that screwed up but not epic. Lacks background at some point, but good emphasis on the characters. Good direction and point of view.
Characters (6/10)
Relatable to people with siblings and those who are into incest but the characters are generic and unrealistic. Although the love between the two is good and as well as the psycho path tendencies of the characters. It lacks dimension, power and strength but how the characters transforms or develops is good and how they show scenes in the first person point of view saved the series from being a sucky one.
Enjoyment (9/10)
Although it can be generic at some point, I enjoyed the gore, the blood, the violence, meaning and the love between the two siblings. The desperate looks on the characters and how there is much violence, gore and more gore. Did I mention how bloody it is? It may not be realistic but anyone who enjoys incest, gore and philosophy might enjoy this.

Story (6/10)
- Concept (4/5)-
The anime has two core concepts, its philosophy and science fiction. A vast mixture of existentialistic ideas to Grecian ideas and the law flourished its philosophical side and guns that can decode the human’s mind on its scifi side. Nothingness, selfishness, the theory of evolution, striving for complexity, human’s dark nature, the soul and the law. A lot of great ideas inside a 22 episode long anime. Very repetitive ideas passed down through history inside a science fiction anime.
What makes this anime so special? For the general anime watchers, perhaps the fact that most humans cannot accept what kind of existence
...
humans has – how our desires or the wills conflict in terms of way it is attained. Urobuchi is known for manipulating people’s emotions which causes people to get hook and cause deep despair once they fall for the characters or reveal dejecting ideas that causes conflict with their own beliefs of what is right and wrong or in other words, their view on morality or ethics. On the other hand, people who are not against these ideas or people who would also be rational and not care about human feelings and loves watching tragic stories, they might feel rather good seeing chaos, bloodshed and gore in action. Lastly, what makes this anime rather popular is the fujoshi and fudanshi. They will find the idea of two guys chasing – a Shizo x Izaya formula – and trying to kill each other rather hot. At the very beginning of the anime until the very end of the anime, suggestions that these two are perfect for each other with the lines, “This destiny must have awaited them since long before they had even met.” The ending will most make any fujoshi and fudanshi lose their sanity.
What makes this anime not so special? Gen Urobuchi’s repetitive ideas and formulas. It is very similar to his other works but of a different genre. A good example is how he changed a yuri “Puella Magi Madoka Magica” into a yaoi science fiction:
1. Magic : Science
2. Magical Girls : Inspectors and Enforcers
3. Kyuubey : The Sibyl System
4. Yuri : Yaoi
5. Homura and Madoka : Kougami and Makishima
In the end, a good way to summarize Psycho Pass is psychopaths within psychopaths. For anyone who enjoys dark and tragic stories, one might enjoy these idea altogether.
-Organization (2/5)-
The directing is both bad and good. I could think of better way to organize the scenes in able to hook the audience and surprise them. They did not unleash Gen Urobuchi’s full potential.
In my case, the organization was rather predictable with its typical detective police formula. The series has a lot of great ideas but because of its bad directing, it did not reach its full potential. Additionally, the formula is not at all different from Urobuchi’s past works, especially its high resemblance to Madoka’s formula (Ending Preview + Typical Detective/Magical Girls Work + Character’s Stories/Flash Backs + Shock Factors/Climax Ending) The only good thing about its directing is how it subconsciously gets the characters into your mind with its repetitive mentioning of this Makishima person. They did some directing right by adding some mystery – a little something the audience to look forward to.
Art (8/10)
-Memorability/Originality (6/8)-
The character designs are pretty generic but the background and the science fiction art is very eye catching and unique. Those guns, those holograms, the system, those creative gadgets are something we can remember the anime by. It has high futuristic feels that is almost very unique. Holograms are a not so new idea but, in this case, there was a special twist. The biggest and the most memorable thing about this anime’s art are their guns. How it is used and what it does. Those epic guns that they call dominators.
-Quality (2/2)-
It is very detailed, eye popping and futuristic. The use of 3D techniques is flawless. The action scenes are incredible and OP and ED even get a very special place. The backgrounds were not rushed, nor are there slide shows all over the place. It is not stiff, it is free flowing.
Sounds (8/10)
-Background Music/Sounds (4/4)-
Excellent job with this one. The music is very fitting for every single moment. It really does enhance the feeling. Sound effects are great. It makes the “action” theme stand out.
-Voice (3/4)-
Very good voice acting. There are some very generic voice types for generic people but overall, great. Sexy voices for fujoshi and fudanshi to fantasize about.
-OP/ED (1/2)-
It has a good rock feeling. Fits the series very well. It is good but something really catchy? Maybe not. Maybe it is. It is not bad but it is not something that will go down for ages.
Characters (9/10)
Psychopaths! Psychopaths! Psychopaths!
Very memorable characters with crazy and epic personalities. Some characters are rather dull and generic, especially some of the villains or suspects. It has a very strong female lead and characters with strong sense of justice and conflicting ideas about justice and peace. It has a lot of strong characters with strong personalities so if other characters are rather dull because of its stereotypical feels but the good over shines the bad characters.
Akame – that strong not so good looking character with strong sense of justice and love for the law.
Kougami – that sexy hot headed freak with his sense of justice and solving skills.
Kagari – that “Hitachiin” character that hates the law.
Ginoza – that fool who abides the law in every way that he can.
Masaoka – that typical dog with epic fighting skills.
Makishima – that beautiful man with a beautiful mind.
The biggest legacy on this show is the good use of the Shizuo x Izaya formula on the two male leads. It is unquestionable that it will go down in fujoshi and fudanshi or in other words, “Yaoi History.” Especially with that ending. No doubt about it.
Enjoyment (7/10)
There are a lot of bad sides with regards to the story and its directing but overall, a really good anime that I enjoyed watching – concepts that I can relate two and a character that I can relate to, being that psychopath who views the world objectively or nothing or without any purpose, chose to detached himself from the norms and enjoys his ideas and watching the world burn.
That ending filled with despair made the series memorable to me. People who find despair pleasurable would most likely enjoy this series given if the one watching can relate to a certain character. Additionally, being a fujoshi made the entire series worth watching. Fantasizing every little move that they make and every obsession that they make towards another male character.

Bakemonogatari. The best anime of all time?
Surprisingly, I did not expect this to be another harem anime. This is, perhaps, one of the best harem anime by far but not the best anime of all time. It is good in some ways, quite enjoyable and the art is amazing.
Story (6/10)
There’s not much of a story but it is quite enjoyable at times. Some parts are really funny, thrilling, exciting, romantic, erotic and philosophical but most of the time it’s all talk which is half interesting and half boring. The story pretty much follows a step by step formula: problem, help and solve. It is somewhat
...
similar to anime Hell Girl and xxxHolic but with an additional spicy kick to it so, unlike the two, you would be, somewhat, eager to know what would happen in the next episode.
Art (10/10)
The best thing about this anime is the art. It is different, indeed but at the same time pleasing to the eye. They have ingeniously incorporated different artistic medias such as 3D images but still maintains the mood of the anime. Sometimes it’s sullen, tranquil, dark and at times confusing but it all worked out well. The way the characters are animated is also quite memorable so despite being a harem anime, it does not give off the same cliché harem feeling.
Sounds (8/10)
The intros and eds are good but unlike its art, it’s not quite memorable. Though, the background music and other sfx are fun, strange and can bring out the mood of the characters and the scene – the way they manipulated some of the sounds to give out confusion and other quirkiness is quite brilliant.
Character (9/10)
The characters are pretty well done and memorable especially Senjougahara and Araragi. They have their own strangeness going on and not to mention their strange powers. All of their personalities are quite unique so they stand out. Despite having a simple and sometimes boring story, the characters pretty much made the talking quite interesting.
Additionally, I find it a bit strange that there are very few “normal” characters lurking around in this show. Despite being in a school, there are no other students but the main characters themselves…not even a teacher for that matter. It has a sort of small world and lonely feeling but whether it is a good or bad thing all depends on how you look at it. It was able to bring out your focus on the main characters but the sense of it being socially realistic is taken away.
Story 6
Art 10
Sounds 8
Characters 9
Enjoyment 7
Overall, it does not have much of a story but the rest of the other artistic elements are great; it is memorable in a way – some of the jokes, some of erotic moments, the odd characters, the bloody scenes and the art most especially.

The World God Only Knows started with a number of episodic stories, for the reason of wanting to achieve a perfect ending but as the manga gains more popularity, the author was able to thoroughly manipulate the stories and made it into something bigger and twisted.
Story (10/10)
The story originally began as a parody of dating sims and romance genre but afterwards, became more than just a simple parody of dating sims and the romance genre but as well as Greek Mythology and other anime. Additionally, the more chapters you unfold, the more philosophical and psychological it becomes as well while still maintains its elements
...
of comedy. One more good thing about this manga is its fillers. The fillers does not seem like fillers. It is so good that you won’t even notice that what you are reading are fillers.
To sum it all up, a good phrase to describe this manga is, “I didn’t expect that!” Even though it may seem that the idea of romance, harem, otaku, shinigami, gods or goddesses, time travel, collecting, saving the world and other things are not new to us or even repetitive or overused, the way the characters, especially Keima Katsuragi, presented and move the story, it became something more that will make you keep on reading.
Art (8/10)
A bit generic but it still has its own special touches to it; being a parody, the way the girls are drawn highly resembles that of the girls in dating sims. Despite that, it was able to bring out the romance, the excitement, the laughter, and the moments of sadness.
Characters (10/10)
Keima Katsuragi, the most powerful and godly character in this series is a smart manipulative stoic pessimistic otaku. To balance his godly ways is his not so trusted demonic partner named Elsie who is exactly the opposite of the protagonist (being extremely stupid and optimistic.)
The girls were somehow pretty generic (again, it’s originally a parody of dating sims and the romance genre), especially in the first few chapters but they’ve slowly became more complicated.

I've read and seen a lot of yaoi and I have still yet to encounter a better yaoi than Junjou Romantica and Sekaiichi Hatsukoi.
So, moving to the Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai, compare to pairs + the love triangle in Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, this novel is a little different in a way with its awkward pairing.
Story (7/10)
It started out really slow compare to the other pairings in Sekaiichi and a couple of cliches here and there. Although it has a pretty basic story for a yaoi, it was well done, not forced -- It was sweet at the same time sour. You think it’s one
...
thing but it’s actually the other way around. It pink but at the same time blue.
The best thing about Fujisaki sensei’s story is how she described in beautiful details of the climax. Compare to the manga wherein most of the story telling were depicted through the pictures, she was able to express that scene with the magic of her words.
Art (8/10)
Another Nakamura sensei work, huh? Well, it’s not the usual pointed chin equals to uke or the usual big uke eyes equals to uke but it is still nice to look at -- great bishie fan service.
Character (8/10)
When it comes to Yokozawa and Kirishima, they did not show the usual kind of love like in Sekaiichi. Usually in Nakamura-sensei’s works, the uke is usually helpless during the climatic scene, but here it’s different which makes it a bit awkward but in the end quite enjoyable with all the pride springing in the air during that “scene.”
Yokozawa is perhaps the strongest uke to be an uke. With his terrifying and prideful personality (more terrifying and prideful than Kamijou’s from Junjou Romantica) it seems that he’s more of a seme than an uke but in the end.
Kirishima, on the other hand, is not gay but rather bi which is unusual for a yaoi -- usually they would have a straight guy transformed into a gay guy or the guys are originally gay and with a strong personality, he was able to move the story on his own.
The only problem about the characters is Kirishima’s daughter, Hiyori which had a weak and predictable personality for a ten year old.

Is this another harem anime?
Yes! This is another harem anime.
If you are thinking this is some kind of zombie apocalypse like HS of the Dead...well it's not. It's somehow stupider than that.
Story (6/10)
The first few episodes started out great because you do not know what stupid thing might appear next. They did a good job meshing up stupid combinations such as a magical girl zombie. You’ll get a few chuckles here and there but after a few episodes, it abruptly shifted to a corny, boring romantic mystery drama that somehow feels rushed then finally for the final episode they shifted to a full out fan
...
service mode.
Though, I must admit, the only thing memorable about this anime is its stupid catchphrase, “I’m a zombie” ….and a magical garment girl.
Art (6/10)
Nice animation and cinematography (lots of dramatic bloodshed and other sfx) but the usual forgettable character designs.
Sound (7/10)
Good background music and other sound effects plus a pretty decent ed song.
Characters (6/7)
The characters’ personalities are the usual – the same old characters that you may find in any harem anime (a guy surrounded by pretty girls and suddenly falling in love or drawn into him) with a twist of zombies, vampires, ninjas, magical girls and other stupid combinations. I must admit it is fun watching them at times but overall, with all the drama, their personalities doesn’t quite add up.
Overall, it is one of those 12 episode anime that started out good and ended badly and somehow rushed. Is it worth watching? No, yes, maybe? If you hate poor romantic mystery drama, give up on it. If you like fan service, this show has a lot of it. If you just like watching for the sake of watching, then go for it.

(Updated April 1, 2013 -- after seeing the final episode.)
After watching “The Daily Lives of High School Boys” and almost dying from laughter, I made a little research and found this show. I have been meaning to find the funniest anime out there and this is perhaps the funniest one I have ever come across with.
Despite this near death causing anime, this is not for everyone. If you are innocent or do not enjoy dark or perverted humor, which this anime has a lot of, then this is not the show for you.
Story (8/10)
The story is good but not mind-blowing. It has a
...
simple story – people going on a journey with a twist of typical war elements that you usually see in mecha anime, a few pinches of gaming fantasy elements and other illogical and unfitting genres. What makes the story kick, though, is the comedy that this show possesses. The ending, especially, would make you die of laughter. Despite that, unexpectedly, it would also make you sad at the same time once you finished this series.
So why did I give it an 8, you may ask? I know the story is stupid but sadly it works. Its stupidity actually works. As a parody or a comedy series, it is good. As an original work of literature or as a masterpiece, forget about it.
Art (7/10)
The art is nicely laid out and fun to watch. The characters are drawn differently from one another and stand out on their own. The only thing is that the main characters roughly represent a lot of look-alikes in other popular shows such as how DT looks a lot like Mashiro from Bakuman, ED looks a lot like Kakashi from Naruto, Marian looks a lot like C.C. from Code Geass and so on. Though, still, this show is still a pure-bred comedy that contains a lot of parodies and these look-alikes may be taken negatively or positively depending how you look at it.
Sound (9/10)
What can I say? Even the music that they provide is funny as hell. The ending songs are funny and perhaps a bit perverted. Aside from being funny, it is also catchy. Since it was coming from the same director as Gintama and DLOHSB, expect a similar feel in their sounds. It was nicely done and did a great job bringing the funnies.
Character (10/10)
All of the main characters and even the supporting characters have strong and funny personalities and not to mention a lot of strange fetishes. They have also provided the audiences to soothe their own fetishes that range from a typical Lolita and otaku, cross-dressers and a bit of shonen ai, to sexy SM men.
Overall, despite having a simple, and somewhat, even stupid mixed up story, for someone who enjoys this type of comedy and gamers, especially those who loves RPG, since they've thrown in a few dash of gaming otaku jokes which is also somewhat a reference to The World God Only Knows, would most definitely enjoy this show as well.

I searched far and wide to download the rare English dub DVD release for this anime and to my disappointment; it is one of the most dreadful and dull anime that I have cross paths with.
Story (5/10)
I can see that the author is struggling and striving for a good story. She used a lot of symbolisms, life problems, and tries to make a sort of fantasy battle anime combined with romantic drama.
First of all, you cannot just make an unknown and boring character jump right ahead with another character without even explaining the connection between the two because viewers cannot relate and feel
...
what is being felt by the said character. Yaoi scenes felt lifeless because of the distance between the audience and the character; henceforth, the romantic lines are rubbish and sound cheesy.
Although she, the author, have the desire to express herself with common life problems, such as the users and the used, loving one’s self, the consequences of love and so on and so forth, the characters are lifeless, edgeless, brainless, colorless and everythingless and killed the entire story. If they have extended the anime into two seasons and give more depth to the story and the characters, it might just be worth watching.
Art (4/10)
When I first saw the anime, I think it immediately gave me anime-cat-phobia. Yeah it is cute but I cannot see the relevance of cats to the story. I understand stories with demons who has usually has something to do with death, deals and such, but when I see cat people, it tells me that they want the story to be cute and that is all. It reminds me of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s broadway musical “Cats.” The difference between Andrew’s Cats and this type of cat though is that his cats has better, more distinct and fierce personalities and does not aim to be cute.
Sound (6/10)
The sound is good at least. Thank my God of Conquest for giving this show something good to remember by – that its music is good enough and the sound was not that bad at all.
Character (1/10)
A character’s personality, for me, is one of the most important elements in an anime or in any piece of literature because they are the ones who drive the story into a good route where the audience could enjoy. The characters are way below the line and do not even feel realistic when they say their lines. I am not sure if the author is aiming for male character with a strong feminine side or what. If so, Ritsuka feels like an awkward male character who immediately surrendered to a female life under the hands of Soubi. Soubi is one of the most robotic and monotonous characters that I had ever came across with – in other words, boring. Yuiko, on the other hand is an annoying, stupid and a useless female character. Characters like her should only exist in a show that has characters with strong and influential personalities. I could go on but there are so many characters with, if not annoying and boring, unrealistic personalities.

Usually I would get bored when a show follows a formula that makes things typically predictable – especially when it comes to the mystery and thriller genres. I am an avid psychological mystery thriller fan who loves gore and violence. When I happened to stumble upon this show, my first thoughts were, the title sounds like something a psychological series. Consequently, my instincts were incorrect. First impressions are everything; when I first saw the trailer, it did not really show any affection to me. Good thing that I would try almost anything and gave this a shot and to my surprise, words alone could not
...
express the god-like comedy experience that you get from watch this series.
Story (9/10)
Although it is repetitive and follows a formula, every single episode was done delicately and will give you a different kind of amusement every time. This was meant to be a parody type of show so it is meant to imitate another show, company, and so on and turn it into something funny – in a way, a mocking manner. The satires, the irony, the stereotypes and the exaggerations are never-ending.
This is how to do a show with a repetitive plot. It gives the viewers a kind of sensation that, nonetheless of the predictability of the series, makes people hold on and not to give up on the show and would actually expect more and want more.
Art (8/10)
The art suits the style of the anime with all the exaggerated scenes – to the point of actually feeling to be inside a fantasy within a fantasy. They did a great job in the character designs; especially the girl with a skull hair clip. As mentioned, it is a parody anime so some characters may appear stereotypical or looks like something you have seen before. The demon girl, if you look close enough, looks somewhat like the girl from Elfen Lied. The guy looks like a typical intelligent nerd in a fantasy. The rest, looks like a typical girl that you see in a fantasy or harem anime. Despite of the uncanny resemblance, it suited the theme of the show – a show with a divine comedy.
Sound (10/10)
Everybody has their own taste in music. The show has a combination of modern and operatic twist to it. If you are an opera or Victorian fan, you will find yourself addicted to its music. The themesong would start out as something modern and techno and it would seamlessly shift into something operatic. Furthermore, the music suited the god theme in the series. Listening to the music will make you shiver down your spine and feel like the feeling of being a god flow into your bloodstreams. Other than that, the show has a couple of modern pop sounding song. It was not really special nor is it that bad. It just suited the scene of a typical modern pop culture.
Character (10/10)
The art, the story and the music are great but what makes anime or any kind of show stand out is the characters. A gloomy intelligent nerd who does not care about the 3D world and shows no real emotions towards the girls in real life despite the fact of making them fall in love with him, an innocent childish sibling that is trying hard to make his big brother happy and endless stereotypes of girls.
