Part 1 of Dead Mount Death Play serves no purpose as a story.
The first episode hooks you in with this idea that something interesting might occur, but it never does.
The antagonistic forces do not feel like threats.
The Detectives that investigate supernatural situations and people? No more than a suggested inconvenience.
The aforementioned supernatural people? Handwaved in story as not being supernatural at all despite them showing off clearly supernatural abilities.

King's Game, an anime about High School Kid's stuck in a "survival" game with no cohesive rules whatsoever and seemingly pointless actions that can lead to death.
If you, the reader, want to play an actual King's Game I highly recommend watching all 12 episodes in one day so you can suffer just as much if not worse than every individual character on screen does. The story follows Kanazawa Nobuaki, the sole survivor of a previous King's Game who's personality goes no further than his haircut scene in Episode 9. So, Shelter, without spoiling anything all I can really say is that it was OK. It wasn't amazing like a lot of people are saying and it's not god awful like others are saying. It's just OK.
The animation is very well done and how good the music is depends on the listeners so I won't force my opinion on you there. However, when it comes to story there is one there, but not really. We get tiny little tastes here and there about what this "story" is telling us, if you want to call it that. For me it was more a glimpse into the ... |
