Part 1 of Dead Mount Death Play serves no purpose as a story.

The first episode hooks you in with this idea that something interesting might occur, but it never does.

The antagonistic forces do not feel like threats.

The Detectives that investigate supernatural situations and people? No more than a suggested inconvenience.

The aforementioned supernatural people? Handwaved in story as not being supernatural at all despite them showing off clearly supernatural abilities.

... The person who originally ordered Polka's assassination in the first place? Don't worry about it.

This show whispers fun and interesting ideas into your ear with no pay off or satisfying conclusion. It only hopes you'll stick around for its unnecessary fanservice randomly sprinkled in so you forget what it promised you narratively.

It gets a 4 out of 10 from me because it had some interesting ideas, but if I'm being honest with myself it deserves a 1 out of 10 for wasting my time.

Don't waste your time hoping for more out of this show outside of the first episode.

This show is the generic store brand plain seltzer of anime.

King's Game, an anime about High School Kid's stuck in a "survival" game with no cohesive rules whatsoever and seemingly pointless actions that can lead to death.

If you, the reader, want to play an actual King's Game I highly recommend watching all 12 episodes in one day so you can suffer just as much if not worse than every individual character on screen does.

The story follows Kanazawa Nobuaki, the sole survivor of a previous King's Game who's personality goes no further than his haircut scene in Episode 9. He can never decide whether he wants to live or die, but continues to feel the need ... to act righteous as if he has any real answers when he never does.

After finding out who/what the King was in Episode 6 I felt like jumping out a window like Kana due to how absurdly stupid the explanation was. I've never been taken out of show that quickly since the days when I watched School Day's and Gantz.

Now, as I'm sure we're all well aware whenever watching Animes like this we need to have some kind of suspension of disbelief. However, when writing an anime like this you can't just assume that you can write whatever you want and the viewers will nod their heads and say "Yes, I agree," but that's exactly what Kanazawa Nobuaki did. Also, yes, the Author of King's Game did indeed write himself into his own story. Shows how highly he thinks of himself.

The biggest offender in my opinion outside of the explanation of who/what the King is was the ending. Now I'm not going to spoil it for anyone in event that you choose to watch this god awful shit show, but essential what it boils down to is the final survivors figuring something out and it meaning essentially nothing despite the huge implications it has. So the author of the story didn't even wanna follow his own rules. That should tell you how much he actually cared when writing the story, which if you haven't figured it out by now is zero percent.

Avoid this anime at all cost. It is not worth a single person's time. I don't even care if you're a huge fan of dumpster fires like The Room, this is worse and isn't even worth a passing glance.

Unfortunately a second season was greenlit and will be airing in the near future which is a shame since it'll be taking up the slot of something that could have been much better. Boycott the second season and avoid it at all cost I don't even want to consider a possible third season.

So, Shelter, without spoiling anything all I can really say is that it was OK. It wasn't amazing like a lot of people are saying and it's not god awful like others are saying. It's just OK.

The animation is very well done and how good the music is depends on the listeners so I won't force my opinion on you there. However, when it comes to story there is one there, but not really. We get tiny little tastes here and there about what this "story" is telling us, if you want to call it that. For me it was more a glimpse into the ... aftermath of a tragedy that could have been a grand story, but was compressed into this six minute music video.

At the end of the day Porter Robinson was the writer of this story. He clearly had or has no plans to expand upon this story, which is unfortunate. So those of you who are hoping for more will likely not get any. This was probably a way for Porter Robinson to reach out to another crowd as well as attempt to show off his writing/creative skills for others to see.

Overall this is an alright music video that gives you a quick flash of a grand story that has not and never will be completed.

I genuinely don't know how I feel about this music video. I went in with no expectations and I have to say, I'm disappointed to say the least.
