As we're already halfway through the series, I have a strong feeling this is going to be epic. So far, everything is going from good to better. There is no filler episode, no passing or useless characters, no lack of action or excitement. Every single episode has been a masterpiece, leaving waves of emotions behind and answering our questions one by one.
There are so many things I love about this anime. You can never predict what is going to happen next. The plot showed us so far that not everything has a happy ending, that life in this period was hell for the poor and
...
despite great efforts to stay alive, nobody had any reassurance that their life was not in danger. It is a dark setting, but also one that gives us hope. We are thaught that in a world of war and poverty, we can still find happiness in small things and we have our loved ones by our side.
The show is full of metaphors which ephasise the loneliness, the dispair but also the strength of the people. We learn that same blood doesn't mean family. On the other hand, we learn that a simple encountering in our life can change it forever, and every single person we meet has a purpose in our life. With this being said, I can objectively confirm that the character development is strong. Every scene that we see and every dialogue has a meaning. Between all the tags that Dororo has, I would say that "psychological" describes it best. Of course, the fantastic elements are also in large numbers but the show doesn't mix reality with fantasy. The realistic part of the show is well preserved (such as history, behaviour) while the fantastic part (demons, superpowers) is also well integrated in between.
I am anxiously waiting for the next episodes to see how the story unflods. At this moment the plot has great potential to become something extraordinary and unique. I am prepared for both a happy and sad ending. This is by far the best show of winter/spring 2019 and I hope it won't let me down in the second half of the series.

High expectations and a huge disappointment...
Story: 3
By the end of the series I think I finally got the story, which is in fact not a good one. This Red Dragon destroyed Nil Kamui, a small country which is now invaded by Kouran and D'natia, the neighbour countries. Ibuki, the MC, holds Red Dragon's power: every time he kills one of his friends, he gains great power. Now, you see, this idea is pretty shitty because:
1. It creates pointless drama
2. It predicts the death of the other characters
3. At some point, it becomes annoying because you see the same thing happening over and over again.
Back to
...
the story. Ibuki then gathers a bunch of random people, whom he later calls "friends" to help him become king and win the independence of the country. Not original at all. As this is a spoiler-free review, I'll tell you only this. Things get really complicated.
Art & Sound: 6
Speaking more about the art, the fight scenes are bad. It's like, you don't get a lot of continuous movement, just short scenes one after another. Also, the background and the characters are common. Nothing special, no distinctive features.
Character: 2
I don't even know where to begin. It's like all the characters are bricks in the wall. They are all ready and willing to sacrifice their lives for Ibuki. BUT they don't even know, if he is going to succeed in becoming the king. They all say "Ibuki, kill me" like what the hell, I'll give you this life, I can have another one right away. I get it. This anime is also a drama, but it's stupid to see this "Take my life, please!" "No, you're my friend" every god damned episode.
Now I'll focus more on Ibuki. He's a 10 years old kid who still sees the world coloured in pink. Naive. Easily deceived. He says he wants to protect everyone, but ends up killing his friends. Again, I get it. He's plays the role of the victim. He bears a curse, he lost his family etc. BUT the fact that there was no character development is just stupid. He had the potential to become a good character but failed.
However, the only character that I like is Swallow. He's different. I think there's an episode or half an episode about his past which is really good. He had a tough childhood which gave him the strenght to move on and try to live his life the best way possible. Bonus points for this one.
Enjoyment: 5
Now I've seen that many people compare this to Akame ga kill. No. It's true that almost all the characters die by the end of the anime, but at least the characters from Akame ga kill had meaningfull deaths. Those deathes gave me a sad feeling. They died fighting for a major cause, they didn't offer their lives to a 10 years old boy they had just met. This "kill your friends to save th e world" concept is just stupid. Moreover, the ending is so open, so.... should we expect season 2? Please, no.
Another thing: the action is pretty rushed, characters show up and die so this anime gives no feelings to the audience.
Overall: 5
I know I said only bad things, but this anime is mediocre. Some of you might enjoy it more than I did and give it a 6. It's not horrible, it's just there are far better anime so don't waste your time on this one.

Just finished Mahou Sensou. First thing that came into my mind: dafuq did I just watch? Was it a poor a-lot-much-shorter version of Bleach or what?
Story: 6
The thing is, Mahou Sensou doesn't really have a storyline. In the first episode, main character, Nanase Takeshi, is accidentally turned into a magician by a girl named Aiba Mui, who had come from another world. Of course, his girlfriend, which is not actually his girlfriend and his friend are also accidentally turn into magicians. Then Takeshi decides to live in this world of magicians and learn how to use magic and then some romantic dramas appear, and then
...
Mui is trying to save her brother and then the Second Magical War begins and nothing makes sense anymore. The plot is confusing af and the ending is nothing but a bunch of nonsense. But I'll get to that part later.
Why did I say that this is an unsuccessful version of Bleach? Let's see...
-MC turned into a magician by a magician (Ichigo & Rukia).
-The war between 2 powerful magic organisations (the war between Soul Society & Hueco Mundo).
-MC has a mother which is a former magician but never told him until she had to (Ichigo & his father).
And of course, the characters and the relationships between them:
-Takeshi & Isoshima (Ichigo & Orihime). She likes him but he's not aware of that.
-Mui & her brother (Rukia & Byakuya). Strong and protective brother and a little sister who admires him.
Character: 4
Like I said, there's nothing original about any of the characters. The only one I hadn't mentioned is Gekkou, Takeshi's evil brother, who tries to kill him because of several reasons which are not very clear even now. Gekkou is literally screwed up. One second he is one side character of the anime whom you don't even pay attention to and one minute later he becomes the main antagonist. Ok... Isoshima is that kind of useless female character who keeps screaming the MC's name over and over again but does nothing to help him.
Art: 6
I was expecting much more from a 2014 anime. The art is watchable but during fight scenes the characters are drawn awufully bad.
Sound: 9
The sound was good, both the background sounds and the voices of the characters. Yeah, at least something good.
Enjoyment: 6
Despite the fact that almost the whole anime doesn't make sense, I didn't drop it. Despite all the fucked up anime logic, I wanted to see the ending. I'm sure you've heard about anime with open endings beacuse I've see a lot, but let me tell you: this anime doesn't have an open ending. The ending is like: wtf? why did that happen but how is it even possible and why? You will have a lot of unanswered questions to which you'll never find an answer. You can't even speculate because the ending gives you nothing.
Another thing that I didn't like was that the action is rushed pretty badly in the last two episodes which have barely any connection with each other. Not only does the plot confuse us all, but we're also not given any details about the characters or their past. Like I said in the beginnging: I don't know what this anime is about? First Mui trying to save her brother from the bad guys, then the war between those two organisations or the fight between Takeshi and Gekkou.
Overall: 6
I don't recommend this anime to you. It's pretty much a waste of time because in the end you get nothing. The characters are stereotypical and sometimes dumb and annoying. The logic doesn't exist and nothing makes sense (characters fighting and then chatting like best friends, Takeshi training himself to become stronger in the middle of the war, Isoshima being kidnapped and stuff and then no one gives a fuck about her and so on).

Oh well, long time no review! It's been a while since I last wrote a review but I guess I'm back in business.
If you plan to watch F/SN UBW, I assume you've already watched F/SN and know what this is all about. However, if you haven't, I recommend that you watch it first. After that, you have to watch Fate/Zero because it explains some things left in the shadow in F/SN and of course because it's 10 times better that its sequel. Oh, and if you didn't already know, UBW it's not a sequel to any of the series. It's just an alternative route of
...
the F/SN. Now, given all these explanations I can properly begin my review.
Story: 10/10
Even though 95% percent of those who read this know what the Fate francise is about. I'll make a short summary anyway for the 5% who don't. Seven masters summon seven servants to help them fight in the 5th Holy Grail War to win the Holy Grail which grants the winner any wish. The main character, Emiya Shirou is a teenager who doesn't know anything about the war and during the series still tries to figure out what his magical power are. Luckily, he meets Rin Tohsaka who helps him during the war and saves his life several times.
The reason why I rated the story 10 is because no matter what route of F/SN I'm watching, the story is always interesting and catches my attention from the very first episode. Even though I've watched SN I'm still excited to see how UBW is going to end and how the relationships between the characters are going to evolve. Fate has this ability to make my keep my interest even if I know what is going to happen.
I"ll also make a comparison between SN and UBW regarding the story. This time, the plot is focused more on Rin Tohsaka and her servant, Archer. Of course, Shirou and Saber play a huge role, but so do Rin and Archer. Despite small differences here and there, things go quite the same way as they do in SN. And I'll stop here because I don't want to give any spoilers.
Character: 8/10
Now this is my favourite part because I finally get to some criticism. One of the weak points of Fate is Emiya Shirou. He is the typical character who doesn't know what is going on around him. He is weak, but still manages to beat the others. He is too naive and believes in some childish ideals snd most important, he acts bravely, gets himself injured and also puts Saber at risk. Maybe I'm a little too subjective but I've never likes these kind of characters especially when they are the main ones. During the whole series he messes things up but in the end he awakens that power in him and poof... wins the war.
As I said before, Rin Tohsaka is more important in this route, so her relationship with Shirou is also given more attention. That is one big difference from SN where in the center of attention was Saber.
Character development? Well, yeah...I won't deny that. But there is still season 2 to come out so I'll wait and see how things go.
Art & Sound: 10/10
When it comes to art, Fate never disappoints. When SN first came out in 2006 the art was not impressive but as the Frncise continued in 2011 and 2012 with Fate/Zero, everything improved and now the visual effects are simply awesome. Although the characters are not rich in details; their faces are simple but beautiful, the background views or the fight scenes are completely flawless. An amazing art + very good audio so I don't have anything to say about this.
Enjoyment: 9/10
Yep, Fate keeps you captivated for the entire series. Let's see: action, funny moments, romantic scenes, dramatical life stories, heartbreaking feelings, suspense... all checked! Both SN and UBW create a magical world with different types of characters and an unforgettable story.
Overall: 9/10
I gave it a 9 because I gave SN 8 and Zero 10. UBW is deffinately better than SN but still can't be compared to Fate/Zero which takes the Holy Grail War to a whole new level of awesomeness. This season was more than ok and what can I say, I'm patiently waiting for the second season to come out in April.

*May contain a few spoilers and sarcasm*
From the very first episode I knew SIW had the potential to become a very good anime, so I kept saying "Please don't disappoint me" until the last episode. Fortunately, it helped.
Story: 9
This strange combination between Mahou shoujo madoka magica and Yu-gi-oh! was a really good one but could have been better. The plot is focused on Ruuko, a standard teenage girl with no friends, who lives with her grandma and brother. One day her brother introduces her to WIXOSS, a card game where you have to battle other selectors and LRIGs to become an Eternal Girl and have
...
your wish granted. Sounds familiar? Kind of. The story is not about the game itself but the effect it has on people's lives. Just like Madoka Magica, the anime becomes very dark and sad because once you've become an Eternal girl, your wish will be granted but your LRIG will be the one living the dream and you, as a selector, become a LRIG. That's when Ruuko realizes the game is a lie and tries to save her friends, her LRIG and the whole universe.
Like I said earlier, the anime had a lot of potenial, but at some point everything became ordinary because I could tell what would happen next. Aaaand then I watched the last episode. I was sincerely thinking that SIW would DEFINATELY end just like Madoka magica, but it didn't. The ending was unexpected, in a good way and left me wanting to watch season 2 right now!
Art & Sound: 9
The art is rather mediocre. Yes, the characters are ok, but the battlefields and some scenes in the last episodes where everything is covered in white (if you watched you know what i'm talking about) really need some improvement. The sound is fine, I like both opening and ending.
Character: 9
I really need to say that the characters are the problem here. They don't have anything special and lack development, especially Ruuko, the main character. Despite participating in the game, she didn't have a wish until the last episode. She was participating because... well I can't even tell. She is always afraid of something, insecure, naive and to simplify this: not suited for the game. On the other hand, we have Yuzuki, one of Ruuko's friends who's in love with her brother, Kazuki. Yuzuki is my favourite character because she knew what she was fighting for, she didn't care what people would think about her and she just like this she made her wish come true. More or less.
Enjoyment: 10
You have a chance to make your wish come true. Participate in the game. But if you lose that wish will NEVER come true. What would you do? This ideea is brilliant and so addictive. I guess that's why I couldn't stop loving this anime despite its flaws. I enjoyed watching the series and I'm truly happy that there's gonna be a sequel (Selector Spread WIXOSS), because this season left me with lots of unanswered questions.
Overall: 9
Why 9? Well, a 10 couldn't have been anyway because I had to focus on the story and not to mind some annoying characters. I recommend this to everyone because among Gokukoku no Brinhyldr, No game no life, Akuma no riddle and Black Bullet, SIW is one of the best anime of spring 2014.

Tasogare otome x Amnesia is a complex and unusual anime that doesn't really fit the well-known pattern of ghost stories. But still... Ghost of a girl [checked], haunted school [checked], scary moments [checked]...Then why is this anime different?
Story: 9
The story is about Yuuko, a girl who died 60 years ago but whose ghost still haunts the hallways of Seikyou Academy. The only uncommon thing about this ghost is that it's not an ugly faceless bleeding monster, but a sexy and funny girl who takes mackery to a whole new level. Teiichi, Kirie and Momoe are the three members of the Paranormal Investigation Club who try
...
to unravel the mystery of Yuuko. However, Teiichi is the only one capable of seeing Yuuko, which makes him, undoubtedly, fall in love with her. And so, the story goes on, with the 4 main characters trying to make Yuuko remember why she died and why she can't rest in peace.
Art & Sound: 10
Both art and sound are outstanding. The characters are well-drawn, with many distinctive features and so are the outside sceneries. The sound provides at the same time a friendly atmosphere and a totally freaking scary atmosphere when Dark Yuuko appears and supernatural occurs.
Character: 9
Yuuko, despite being a ghost, is one of those crafty, deceptive and attractive girls that makes any other female character envious of her beauty and sharpness. However, she shows a lot of emotions: from total carelessness to complete emotional attachement to Teiichi. She can be both a good and a bad ghost whenever she wants. Teiichi, on the other hand is one of those shy boys, always following the rules and trying not to upset anyone, but at the same time he can show a lot of courage, willing to die for the sake of others. This is a very interesting combination of characters. Due to the fact that Teiichi is the only guy who can see Yuuko, makes her fall in love with him and that goes for Teiichi, too. I mean, who could possibly resist such an attractive ghost?
Their relationship evolves so much during the series. They learn what love is and become more attached to each other. Even they belong to two different worlds, that doesn't seem to be a problem for them, showing us that love conquers everything.
Enjoyment: 9
I really really enjoyed watching this. While the beggining was funny with lots of jokes, the ending almost made me cry. I didn't even notice when the anime took this abrupt turn but I'm glad it did because I was able to experience a large variety of emotions watching only 12 episodes of the masterpiece.
Overall: 9
Tasogare otome x amnesia is a good anime, but not one of the best. I still rated it 9 beacuse of the beautiful ending and great character development. I would gladly recommend it to everyone looking for a not-so-common ghost story with both happiness and sadness wrapped in a single package.

I've seen plenty of survival game anime and watching another one didn't really impress me, but somehow, Higashi no eden had a different feeling. The whole kill or be killed thing wasn't the main ideea of the series. It was something much deeper: the feeling you have power but don't use it for yourself, on the contrary, to help others. That's pretty much why I find this anime quite original in many points of view.
Story: 9
Beginning with the story, like I said it's not a very inspired one. Main character Takizawa Akira finds himself naked in the middle of Washington with no memories where he
...
meets Morimi Saki, a fourth-year collage girl. In the following episodes they return to Japan, hoping that Akira will get his memory back. However, what comes next is much more complicated as he learns that he is involved in some kind of a game where he has 8 billion yen to "save Japan".
Things tend to become hard to follow due to the fact that the most important things are left unsaid until the very last episode. On the other hand, that's one of the good parts of the anime because it makes you want to watch episode after episode. But if it's not "the game" the main idea, then what is it? Personally, I think the anime teaches us that good people still exists. The plot is focused on rediscovering Akira's self who chose to have his memory erased not because he had done something bad, but because ha had been hurt by the people he saved. And I'm gonna stop here because I don't want to spoil anything.
Art: 8
I found the art very similar to the one in Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. Characters have simple features but very distinctive, not many detalis being included. Compared to the characters, the environement looks much better, but still designed in this simple but fine manner.
Sound: 10
Both the opening and ending are ok. Same for the voice of the characters and the rest. I don't have any negative remarks.
Character: 9
Takizawa Akira is undoubletdly the one who makes the series so great. Like many other main characters he has this tricky appearance, making the impression he always knows what he's doing. He never loses himself no matter the circumstances and always puts others' selves before his own. I always apperciate a good character development and I would have given this section a 10 if it hadn't been for Morimi Saki.
While Akira goes through a lot of things (he finds out he saved the world once but took the blame on him for destroying it just to protect the people he cared about and then he erased his memory in order to let go of the pain and start over), Saki does nothing at all. Basically, her contribution to the plot is nearly 0. Oh, yes. They kiss once, but that's everything they have in common. Of course, Akira slowly falls in love with her and so does she but the action is so focused on Akira himself that their relationship becomes insignificant. However, I can't criticize this too much because in the end, the anime is not just a slice of life-romance-drama anime. It is an action-mystery genre, not to mention some peple would find it quite violent. So despite the synopsis, which looks like the beginning of a romance anime, the series is not about that.
Enjoyment: 9
With so many genres gathered in a 11 episode anime and so many confusing things and thoughts, I really enjoyed it. It was both sad and happy, full of action and funny moments, covered in mystery and having all these wrapped with a romance ribbon. So why I rated it 9?
The end was such a disappointment! The whole atmosphere where Akira saves the world once again is wonderfull indeed but when the last episode ended I was like "Ok. So?" I felt like I was looking at a flower ready to blossom but then it wilted. I know the movies are the sequel but seriously, this is not how a series should end, leaving the viewers with an empty feeling.
Overall: 9
Despite the flaws, Higashi no eden is one of the best animes I have watched but I expected more. Akira is an outstanding character but he overshadowes the other ones. The last episode is the key of the anime but the end left me speechless in both a good and a bad way.
Nevertheless, I highly recommend it to anyone. There's a little bit of every genre, all gathered in a very harmonious approach.

*This may contain a few spoilers*
At first I thought Kore wa zombie desu ka? was going to be one of those fantasy-comedy anime without an actual storyline and with lots of boring episodes. Fortunately, it was much better than I thought.
Story: 6
I was very surprised that this had a plot. It really did. The story focuses on a high school boy, Ayumu, who is both a zombie and a Magiclad Girl (Yeah, I know, kinda weird) and his supernatural friends, Eu, Haruna and Sera who fight against all kind of creatures. This might seem a little mediocre and it is because as the show goes
...
on, more and more unearthly phenomena occur and strange characters show up. But, like I said, I am glad that the anime followed a decent plot with some unexpected events and it wasn't just a stupid comedy.
Art & Sound: 9
Both were good. The characters have many details and some distinctive features, the magical creatures are ok and the outdoor scenery is good, so I don't have much to say. My eyes liked what they saw.
Character: 6
Here, unfortunately, we have some stereotypical characters: Ayumu - the easy-going teenager who cares a lot about his friends and wants to protect them. Eu - the most powerfull character, silent but very smart, full of emotions and very altruistic. Haruna - the funny girl, always smiling who falls in love with Ayumu. Sera - the sensible one, with a strong character who likes being in charge of everything,
There is truly nothing special about those characters, none of them stands out. On the other hand, I apperciate the huge character development. Ayumu starts to care about Eu when she leaves and realizes she's very important to him. Eu also realizes that she's not a soulless monster and she has friends who would die for her and Sera abandons her mission to kill Eu because she finally understood that friends are the most important thing in the world.
Enjoyment: 7
It wasn't a brilliant anime, even far from a good one, but I somehow enjoyed watching it. It was funny indeed (especially Ayumu's transformation into a Magiclad Girl), it was violent indeed (which I liked the most) and it had some heartbreaking moments which really got to my feels. As I said, there were some boring episodes, unrelated to the actual plot but at least they were funny.
Overall: 7
I rated Kore wa zombie desu ka? 7 because it represented a nice surprise for me. The series exceeded my expectations which is really awesome and if the caracters were a little more original, I would give it an 8.
What can I say... If you like fantasy-comedy-harem with some gore and romance anime, you should really watch this. It might be a disappointment for some people but on the contrary, I find this anime better than I thought it would be.

Given the fact that I'm not really into school/slice of life anime, Free! turned out be one of the best anime of this kind I've ever watched.
Story: 9
The story is just awesome. The plot has many twists, but what I really really like is that the past is strongly connected to the present. The 4 main characters: Haruka, Rin, Nagisa and Makoto (excluding Rei) are childhood friends who share the same passion: swimming. Life had a funny way of gathering them, tearing them apart and then gathering them back together. I will say more about the characters when I get to that point. Although
...
the action might get a little boring sometimes there is a lot of comedy and me, who doesn't laugh so easily, I find this anime way too funny.
Art: 10
The art is beautiful. The characters are designed very elaborately, with lots of details especially when it comes to their bodies, hair and facial expression. I really need to mention that the underwater scenes are amazing, again, made with such meticulousity that it almost makes you feel like you're there, swimming alongside them.
Sound: 10
I've heard a lot of people complaining about the background music but you know what? I truly like it. Even the dubstep music in the background of tense situations... it's fine. It fits. There's nothing to complain about. And now, the sound of water, combined with the art...well this creates such a pleasant atmosphere..it's beautiful, not to mention that I didn't encounter any flaws in the musical part of the series so this is great.
Character: 10
This is finally what I wanted to talk about. The main characters may seem a little stereotypical. Haruka - the silent one, who everyone admires and excels at everything he does. Rei - the obessed-with-laws-of-physics one, who is always calculated and tries to be the best. Makoto - the good friend, who is always there for everyone. Nagisa - the funny and sweet, childish one, who is always joking and doesn't take anything seriously. And then, here's Rin, the most intriguing character I've seen. Unlike Haruka, Rin doesn't have natural talent at swimming so he has to work his ass off to be the best. He always felt inferior to Haruka so he dedicated most of his training hoping he would beat him. At the beginning, Rin was angry with Haruka but then he realised Haruka never meant to hurt him and always supported him, just like a true friend. Many others despise Rin for his stubborness and selfishness but me, on the other hand.. I kind of understand him. I know what is like to try so hard to be number one and there is always one person who is always better than you no matter what you do. I guess I like Rin so much because I found some parts of myself in him.
Another thing.. despite the fact that the anime has only 12 episodes, there's a huge character development and I apperciate that. That is how you can tell the difference between a good anime and a bad one.
Enjoyment: 9
I enjoyed Free! as much as I could. Like I said, there are boring parts and since I don't want to be subjective, and give this anime a proper score, I have to admit that there are also flaws. However, if it hadn't been for Rin and the strong conflict he created, I would've rated this lower.
Overall: 9
If I had to use a single word to describe Free!, that would be "beautiful". Everything is beautiful: the idea of true friendship and how friends stay forever, the complex characterisation and not to mention the art and the sound, which are almost perfect.
I recommend Free! to everyone. No matter if you're a girl or a guy, trust me, this anime is not about a bunch of handsome guys and fan-service. You should really give it a try if you haven't yet.

I really hate making reviews in which I'm criticizing so bad an anime but Pupa is just the worst anime I've ever watched so I had to make a review.
Starting with the story... Wait, what story? I mean, yeah, the plot exists, but what can be expected from a 4 minute episode where the opening and the ending represent half of the time? Nothing. The action is so rushed that you barely understand a thing, especially when there are also flashbacks. I didn't read the manga (although I was recommended to) so I had no idea what this anime was about, and after I finished
...
it, I still have no idea what this is all about.
Art is meh. Nothing special. I could say that the gore parts are not that horrible and the characters have a decent look but this is really not important relative to the whole series.
Characters: awful.
Utsutsu and Yume have this well-known brother-sister relationship where the big brother would do anything for his lil sister. He even lets her eat his flesh which is way too awkward, especially when Yume is rather happy and doesn't see any problem in eating her brother. Oh..those family bonds..
Again, the episodes are so short that we can't see any development of the characters, just one episode (or 2) dedicated to their past so we learn a bunch of useless and incomprehensible things.
Enjoyment: NO
What should I enjoy about this? I remember this episode when, for 2 minutes, I had to watch Yume eating his brother while saying "Onii-chan". It was pathetic. I like gore animes but this one, even if it is some kind of gore, is a joke! Basically, there is no point in watching this anime. I saw about 10,000 people planning to watch it. DON"T. It's a total waste of time and there are lots of good animes out there.
Overall I rated 1. I would've rated it 0 if I could. Seriously.
