Yes, only 4 episodes are out, but it was enough for me to figure out what it's made of. (1 episode was more than enough though, the rest of 3 was torture I had to go through in order to write this review)
This is a blatant Twilight ripoff with some obvious Tokyo Ghoul ' borrowed ' elements and on the top of that has an awful borderline attack on titan opening that doesn't even suit what it's trying to sell. Do I need to say more? Perhaps a bit, in order to strengthen the conviction that this title is yet another waste of time
...
that you cannot recover
The premise sums up the concept of this schlock, a concept that has been done to death before and that was never fantastic to begin with.
Vampire/ Devil or whatever the MC identifies as falls for bland walking plot device that is the female MC and he's facing struggles to maintain his humanity blah blah blah and we're supposed to rot for their awkward relationship , because it's so authentic and totally not forced for the sake of fitting the shoujo quota, truly mature, innovative and not some cookie cutter romance! 3/10
The art is fairly well done, but who could care about it when anything else is plainly rubbish. 6/10
Believe it or not, even in the sound department I have managed to loathe it, especially those nauseating sound effects like moans , groans , sobs that reminded me of a tortoise mating with a croc shoe (you could Google that to have an exact idea about what I'm referring to)
As I've mentioned above, the opening is an uninspired borderline attack on titan attempt and doesn't even fit the thematic of the show, the choreography of the visuals makes no sense whatsoever.
Not that the voice acting would be the major flaw of this title, but the way the lines are delivered falls flat and makes the wannabe emotional moments embarrassing to witness.
Characters...exactly what I was talking about above , bland, generic, cannot sympathize with them , obnoxious and awkward to watch. 3/10
As for the enjoyment, there wasn't any , not even a second , I'd rather stub my toe in the furniture every ten minutes than watch 20 minutes of this atrocity per week.
There are a lot of bad shows out there , but this one tops them all through the fact that I cannot see a single positive in it, not even if I turn my brain off while watching , it's cringe worthy in every single way and deserves to be the punching bag of the season.

Oh boii, just finished this schlock and it gave me diarrhea, but my point isn't that it is such an abhorrent piece of junk that it affects you on a physical level, it's just the bland, boring, extremely predictable kind of bad which required me to drink lots of coffee in order to get through this one hour worth of tedious content.
Every single department in this show is below average in terms of quality and describing it as platitude would be an understatement on the cliche scale.
The "animation" is for most of the part still frames, the lip sync completely out of place, even
...
in "high definition" it is quite blurry, the character designs are lazy at best , the main character Duo (pronounced like DIO, Dio sure would be revolted) looks like a carbon copy of freaking Mikasa Ackerman or is it the contrary since Legend of Duo has been out since 2005? Maybe the creator of AoT owes some explanations.
The sound is nonexistent for most of the part or is just so generic that I couldn't be bothered to notice it, the voice acting lacks any trace of expressiveness, not that this would be the major turn-off regarding this hopeless series.
I could simply describe the 'story' and characters as the epitome of blandness, cause it isn't even the type of schlock which is so bad that is good, it simply wastes an hour of your life effortlessly throwing into your face the most repetitive and generic elements in the whole history of vampire tales.
If you were by any chance lured in by the shounen ai tag, you should know that you won't even get that, not remotely, in the respective area you could pick anything else but this.
You could use the hour that I have stamped on watching this doing absolutely anything else, this isn't even that one kind of once in a while so bad that is good shit, it's just utterly mediocre and you won't get anything slightly positive out of it, unless you make the effort to stay awake throughout it drinking lots of coffee and therefore rushing to the toilet and cleaning your colon, but you could skip the watch in this regard nonetheless.

I have got my mind wrapped around writing a review about this Chinese obscurity ever since I've watched it a week ago, since this ONA has been enrolled into the database under some rather misleading tags, probably that's not just my opinion.
*Some spoilers ahead in case that anyone cares*
Freshly finished, yet not much of it remained in my memory, even the remnants feel like a fever dream; perhaps because my brain refused to acknowledge the fact that I would watch 100 full minutes of a show that starts out with a panty stealing assailant that smears ladies'
...
window with ketchup , all of this attempting to be a horror setting. It would be indeed sort of unsettling if your favorite pair of undies would go missing and your window would be tainted by tomato sauce, but worry not! We have the competent Zhang Dabao on duty, as the synopsis proudly informs us, he is the protagonist and he can solve any job whether or not he has any qualifications, he's the 'Jack of All Trades ' and that makes him more cut out for catching the assailant than an entrie police district. So this mockery of a plot doesn't end here, we need 3 episodes for such a delicate case to be solved. Have I mentioned that the assailant is protecting his identity by wearing his victims pantsu? Nothing really surprising at this point, I know. The very competent Zhang Dabao decides to guard the victim lady's apartment from the outside, but he's knocked out within the first 5 minutes or so and the girl is kidnapped and this is supposed to be a cliffhanger. The panty maniac, in case you haven't figured out until now isn't a gentleman at all and drags the poor girl into the freaking sewer as if the situation wasn't stinky enough. The almighty Zhang Dabao locates the assailant just in time, before he gets to drill the girl, drill like.. for real with the sharp rotating tool, no innuendo intended. The assailant is arrested by the police finally and then we get to know his pathetic reason for assaulting women, ready to hear it ?

.
He was being bullied for wearing his mom's freaking bra in adolescence.
I think this pretty much sums up the quality in terms of story and characters, getting to the other sections.
The animation is pretty standard for Chinese productions, nothing really stands out, it fulfills its role into portraying what's happening good enough, this kind of production doesn't deserve outstanding graphics anyways, it would be frustrating if it would manage to obtain a budget to make for great visuals. It gets a 7/10 in this department.
Sound wise I cannot pronounce myself too concretely since I am not in the posture to judge Chinese voice acting, not accustomed to it, as for the soundtracks and themes, they were suitable, but nothing particularly memorable that I would find myself returning to. 6/10
In conclusion, you can watch this whether out of sheer curiousity or on a masochistic whim or can stay the hell away from it because you got nothing truly good to lose.
My verdict overall would be 4.5/10 cause it was laughable at times and got me mildly intrigued in what's going to happen next, at the very ending it was given a hint for a season 2, but I doubt it will be produced given the weak reception it has got.

Wanting to watch something short and potentially entertaining, I have proceeded with this OVA and I wasn't disappointed, but not impressed by what I have seen either, in fact was exactly what I envisioned it to be, a decent romance powered by a sci-fi element, a story that doesn't aspire to be anything more than that and one that you'll likely forget within a week or two.
The summary of the story is in the synopsis already, my opinion about it furthermore is that it works well enough in order to build up the relationship between the main characters, no major flaws in executing
...
the premise, but no revolutionary ideas involved in the process either hence why I gave it a 6 in this department.
The animation is quite consistent for that time given and I could deem it as the highlight of the OVA, particularly the female designs are detailed and diversified according to their personalities; they even change their outfits over the course of these two episodes.
In the sound department I have no complaints or praise words either, the voice acting wasn't gritting my ears, I appreciate that they didn't offer me a hard time wearing headphones; the theme songs are as generic and forgettable as they can get, so you can skip these at ease.
As for characters, we have got a typical MC, he's the average guy who isn't precisely bland either, but just acts according to the quest he needs to fulfill: saving the girl he likes from an unfortunate future. The female cast could be described as archetypal. We have got the main love interest who is the school idol type , but in addition is humble and shy, we have got the clingy childhood friend that has got a crush on the MC and in addition we have the antisocial athletic/ tomboy type who happens to be just introverted in fact. Other characters that get mixed in there to make the story work are: a biology teacher who for some reason knows stuff about time travel, that one fodder guy who helps the protagonist on any occasion and the most essential one, the time patrol ditzy chick who accidentally triggers the entire plot.
Having covered all the sections that make for a complete review, my verdict would be: if you have seen a lot of anime , this short title won't satisfy you in any way, unless you just seek to watch something time wise that is neither bad nor particularly great. If I would've watched this years ago, when my list contained 200 titles at most, this OVA would've received an 8/10 , but for now it doesn't get past a 6/10 in my agenda.

Hence there's no review for this short, obscure movie I've decided to write one myself, perhaps this might help other users decide whether or not to watch it themselves.
This is a fairly old film from the 70's produced by Sanrio, the same staff responsible for the much more acclaimed Chirin no Suzu , so is Bara no Hana to Joe as good as the aforementioned movie? I would have to answer: close enough.
First of all, the duration of Bara no Hana to Joe is less than half of Chirin no Suzu, yet in about 20 minutes, it manages to convey a rather
...
unique and bittersweet tale involving Joe, a dog that falls in love with a rose and his dedication into keeping the delicate flower out of the harm's way.
The scenario unfolds in an outlandish manner with playful, colorful imagery and is accompanied by groovy jazz audio.
It is animated in a simplistic fashion resembling a cartoon, but has some artsy traits here and there to set it apart; everything seems to be manually painted and is a smooth job at that.
There's not much to be said about the characters, aside of Joe who is an endearing little pup that tries his biggie best to protect the rose from any perils, the rose is personified a bit as well , but nothing too distinctive aside of showing gratitude towards Joe.
Overall, even if Bara no Hana to Joe doesn't explore themes near as consacrated and jarring as Chirin no Suzu, it still manages to convey a lot of emotion in a lighthearted manner and makes for a nice, quick watch and I consider that it deserves at least a bit more recognition for its authenticity.
